Subject: [AISWorld] Computers & Security "A Multidisciplinary Approach
to Internet of Things Cybersecurity and Risk Management"
Date: Mon, 2 Sep 2019 11:17:55 -0500
From: Raymond Choo <raymond.choo(a)fulbrightmail.org>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org
https://www.journals.elsevier.com/computers-and-security/call-for-papers/mu…
Internet of Things (IoT) links physical and virtual objects by
leveraging data capture and communication capabilities. Increasingly,
IoT can be found in a broad range of commercial (e.g., smart and
connected cities, and industry 4.0) and national security applications
(e.g., critical infrastructure and Internet of Battlefield and Military
Things). Due to the interconnectivity of IoT and the broader society, it
is important to ensure the security of IoT and the underpinning systems.
While there is no foolproof solution, we need to take a
transdisciplinary approach to understand the cybersecurity risk and
threat landscape, in order to formulate appropriate risk mitigation
strategies.
For example,
•How do we design more effective solutions that mitigate existing and
emerging threats to IoT and the underpinning systems, such as physics
attacks, sliding channels attacks, environmental attacks, cryptanalysis
attacks, software attacks, and network attacks, without affecting users’
quality of experience and quality?
•How do we take a transdisciplinary approach to understanding the
cybersecurity risk and threat landscape, and take into consideration the
imperfection of cybersecurity and physical security management system in
the design of the next generation cybersecurity and risk management
solutions?
•How do we balance the need for higher level of security (and user
privacy) with legitimate surveillance and lawful data access (e.g., in
law enforcement investigations)?
In this special issue, we will focus on cutting edge research from both
academia and industry to address the above research questions, with a
particular focus on multidisciplinary research. Topics of interest
include, but are not limited to the below categories (however,
crypto-oriented topics are beyond the scope of this journal and special
issue):
Cybersecurity and risk management
•IoT cybersecurity incident response and management
•Cybercrime prevention strategies, relating to IoT systems
•Data protection in cloud-enhanced IoT systems
•Physical security management of IoT systems
•Secure network access in IoT systems
•Identity management and authentication of IoT
•Secure edge-powered IoT design
•IoT trust and governance
•IoT secure middleware design
•IoT mobility security and risk management
•Blockchain-enabled risk management method
•Emerging threats to IoT
•Secure information integrity of IoT
•Other security and privacy-related issues in connected critical
infrastructure
Privacy
•Enhancing and/or preserving IoT data privacy
•IoT surveillance
•Legal issues relating to surveillance and user privacy, relating to IoT
systems
•Transparency and accountability of IoT systems
•IoT forensics and anti-forensics
•Secure data provenance in IoT
High quality survey papers on the above topics are welcome.
Submission Format
The submitted papers must be written in English and describe original
research which is not published nor currently under review by other
journals or conferences. Author guidelines for preparation of manuscript
can be found at https://www.journals.elsevier.com/computers-and-security/.

*Declarative languages* is an umbrella term that include functional,
logic, and constraint programming languages. These languages have been
successfully applied to many different real-world situations, ranging
from database management to active networks to software engineering to
decision support systems.
New developments in theory and implementation have opened up new
application areas. At the same time, applications of declarative
languages to challenging problems raise intriguing research questions,
such as scalable design and implementation, language extensions for
application deployment, and programming environments. Thus, applications
drive the progress in the theory and implementation of declarative
systems, and benefit from this progress as well.
PADL is a well-established forum for researchers and practitioners to
present original work emphasizing novel applications and implementation
techniques for all forms of declarative programming, including
functional and logic programming, database and constraint programming,
and theorem proving. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

* Practical experiences and industrial applications
* Novel uses of declarative languages in the classroom
* Practical languages and extensions such as probabilistic and
reactive languages
/PADL 2020/ especially welcomes new ideas and approaches pertaining to
applications, design and implementation of declarative languages going
beyond the scope of the past PADL symposia, for example, advanced
database languages and contract languages, as well as verification and
theorem proving methods that rely on declarative languages.

Subject: [AISWorld] ECIS2020 Call for Papers and Panels
Date: Fri, 6 Sep 2019 07:59:35 +0000
From: Eric van Heck <eheck(a)rsm.nl>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
ECIS2020 - Call for Papers and Panels.
Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity in a Digitizing World.
June 15 – June 17, 2020, Marrakech, Morocco.
The aim of ECIS 2020 is to form a meeting place for people in the IS
field to discuss fundamental and innovative issues related to
Information Systems. The conference theme is Liberty, Equality, and
Fraternity in a Digitizing World. As the United Nation’s 2030
sustainable development goals highlight, we live in a world where not
everyone enjoys the freedoms commonly argued to be a human right (like
freedom of speech, of religion, of assembly); where eradication of
poverty and inclusiveness are still far from a reality; and where
loneliness and isolation remain a common experience for many. Digital
technologies are sometimes presented as at least part of the solution
for helping to drive towards a sustainable and inclusive future. Yet at
the same time, digital technologies have also been identified as a
threat to our freedoms (e.g., in relation to our privacy), to fairness
(e.g., with the digital divide decreasing the economic opportunities for
some, and with robotization causing unemployment levels for others), and
to community (e.g., with social media reducing face-to-face
relationships between people even while online connections may be
increasing). In other words, the consequences (both intended and
unintended) of ever-more pervasive digital technologies in our work and
personal lives in relation to creating a more inclusive and sustainable
world are not straight-forward. For this conference, then, we are
especially interested in papers that discuss and expand our
understanding of how digital technologies are influencing and impacting
fundamental human values, whether at the individual, the organization
and/or the societal level.
Submission and publication process
We invite full research papers, research in-progress papers and panel
proposals.
All papers need to be submitted to one of the tracks that constitute the
ECIS 2020 program.

An author may contribute to up to a maximum of three paper submissions.
The submission system will be open in early October.
Both full research papers and research in-progress papers, accepted, and
presented in interactive conference track sessions (or posters), will be
published in the ECIS conference proceedings and made available in the
AIS Electronic Library (aisel.aisnet.org/ecis).
Important dates

----------------
CONFERENCE SCOPE
----------------
The ACM Hypertext conference is a premium venue for high quality
peer-reviewed research on hypertext theory, systems and applications. It is
concerned with all aspects of modern hypertext research including social
media, semantic web, dynamic and computed hypertext and hypermedia as well
as narrative systems and applications.
The theme of Hypertext 2019 is "HYPERTEXT - TEAR DOWN THE WALL". This motto
of the 30th ACM Hypertext conference goes hand in hand with the 30th
anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Inspired by the historical
events in Germany, Hypertext 2019 aims at reunifying different hypertext
research directions and communities. Therefore, apart from the regular
research tracks, Hypertext 2019 will feature a research track on 30 Years
Hypertext as well as an exhibition/creative track. 2019 will also be the
30th anniversary of the WWW. It is a perfect time to join in, reflect our
common roots, and discuss how we can jointly address our current and future
challenges.
The conference will take place at the Institute of Information Systems
(iisys) at Hof University, Germany. Hof lies midway between Frankfurt and
Prague, Munich and Berlin and is very close to the former German-German
border, in particular to the village of Mödlareuth, called "little Berlin",
which used to be divided by a wall. After exactly 20 years, Hypertext 2019
will take place in Germany again for the 2nd time.
Hypertext 2019 is co-locating with the Adaptivity and User Modeling Workshop
(ABIS'19), taking place on Sep 16 at Hof University, and with ACM Document
Engineering Conference (DocEng'19) organized in Berlin, Germany, between Sep
23-16.
