Subject: [AISWorld] [Final CFP] Springer Book: Blockchain and
Sustainability
Date: Thu, 12 Sep 2019 08:23:32 +0000
From: Horst Treiblmaier <Horst.Treiblmaier(a)modul.ac.at>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
*** CALL FOR BOOK CHAPTERS ***
Blockchain and Sustainability
Fostering Environmental, Economic and Social Progress with Distributed
Ledger Technology
(published by Springer)
Mankind is currently facing numerous existential challenges.
Environmental damage, economic volatility and social unrest pose serious
threats not only to humans, but ultimately to the diversity of life on
Earth. Creative solutions for myriad sustainability challenges are
therefore urgently needed and modern technology might be an important
means to tackle some of these threats. Blockchain technologies, which in
the context of this book include all kinds of distributed ledger
technologies, have the potential to impact many areas of modern life.
Not surprisingly, several authors have already emphasized the potential
of the Blockchain to foster sustainability, but systematic and rigorous
research in this area is still scarce. This book will close this gap by
providing a selection of papers that not only structure the research
domain, but also present practical solutions.
In this call for papers, I therefore invite chapters that describe the
application of the Blockchain and related technologies to foster
different aspects of environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
Papers that simultaneously tackle more than one of these areas are
especially welcome. I am particularly looking for articles that outline
how the Blockchain has been applied, what the rationale for its
application was, and, most importantly, what sustainability impacts
resulted from its application. It is the goal of this book to provide a
conceptual overview as well as to present applications, experiences, and
lessons learned pertaining to a wide variety of different sustainability
areas.
*** Structure ***
Each empirical chapter needs to clearly specify how the technology was
applied and what exactly the outcome was. Conceptual and theory-building
chapters are also welcome, as long as they expand the horizon of current
research. More specifically, the requirements for acceptance are:
• Relevance to the book’s theme
• Objectives are clear and well-described
• Content is of interest to the audience
• Structure is well organized and flows logically
• Methodology is appropriate
• Evidence supports authors’ arguments
*** Formatting ***
All final submissions must have 6,000-9,000 words and follow the
template provided by the publisher. The references must be formatted
following APA style. Submissions that do not use this template or
deviate from the formatting requirements will be rejected without review.
*** Important Dates ***
• Submission of an extended abstract (~ 1,000 words): before
September 30, 2019
• Submission of the chapter: before February 28, 2020
*** Procedure ***
Interested authors can learn more, or submit a paper, by contacting the
editor directly.
An MS Word template can be found at:

Subject: [AISWorld] CfP: ECIS2020 - Track: IS Innovation Adoption and
Diffusion (organized by AIS SIGADIT)
Date: Wed, 11 Sep 2019 07:45:54 +0000
From: Sven Laumer <sven.laumer(a)fau.de>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to submit your papers to the track "IS
Innovation Adoption and Diffusion (organized by AIS SIGADIT)" at ECIS
2020, Marrakech, Morocco.
In 1989, when the technology acceptance model (TAM, Davis 1989) was
developed computers were unfamiliar to many organizations. At that time,
technologies were designed to automate administrative and transactional
work typically by utilizing large enterprise systems. Now digital
technologies are ubiquitous in every aspect of our societies, work, and
lives. With an unrelenting pace of innovation, technology acceptance
includes smartphones, social media, wearable devices, IoT, and digital
agents (e.g., Siri and Amazon's Echo), that are used in many new
business and personal contexts. Organizations and consumers now face
many new dilemmas, new questions, and new uncertainties. On the one
side, individuals are challenged to adapt to the changes induced by the
infiltration of digital technologies. They might feel a great
uncertainty about these technologies and could have the impression that
they are unable to deal with this development in both the private and
the business world. On the other hand, individuals might use digital
technologies to take advantage of the benefits provided to the
individual or organization. Some of these heavy users are called
'digital natives' as they were born in a world that is used to
information technology. Hence, a challenge to explain the adoption of
these technologies has been diminished. Nevertheless, these users of
digital technologies might become addicted to their use inducing new
challenges for individuals, organizations and societies. As an
implication, Thomas Davenport concluded in his keynote at the CIO
symposium at ICIS 2015 in Fort Worth that "we need to begin preparing
people for the impacts of these technologies".
Digital technologies infuse and shape our daily lives, yet many of our
core theoretical perspectives derive from the time when computers where
new and unknown to many individuals, in general. Hence, this development
provides scholarly opportunities to discuss new theoretical
underpinnings and methodological approaches that require novel
approaches to understand how individuals, organizations or societies
adopt and use information technology. Therefore, we would also like to
encourage contributions that use new methodological approaches (e.g. big
data analytics) to study technology adoption, use and diffusion phenomena.
Potential topics using conceptual, analytical, design-oriented, or
empirical approaches include (but are not limited to as we also welcome
additional IT implementation, adoption and diffusion research):
· Organizational adoption and use of digital technologies
· Individual adoption, use, and discontinuance of digital technologies
· Factors enabling or inhibiting acceptance and use of digital technologies
· Positive and negative consequences of using digital technologies for
both organizations and individuals
· New theoretical perspectives on acceptance, use and diffusion of
digital technologies
· New methodological approaches to study acceptance, use and diffusion
of digital technologies

From: Safa'a AbuJarour <safaa.abujarour(a)uni-potsdam.de>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org
Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to submit your papers to the track “Digital
Inclusion in Education, Work, and Society” at ECIS 2020.
***** Description *****
Recent developments in digital technology have been reshaping almost all
aspects of our lives, including work, education, and social life.
Despite the many opportunities digital technologies bring about, they
come with challenges that the academic community cannot ignore.
This track covers an evolving idea that is highly relevant to the
Information Systems field: Digital Inclusion. The goal of this track is
to raise awareness and generate scholarly debates about the
opportunities and barriers for digital inclusion in our ever
increasingly interconnected world. While the role digital technology
plays in society has received attention in the last few years, research
in this area is still fragmented. The need to produce a coherent body of
literature that theorizes on the consequences of digital technology on
individuals and social groups is still a pending task.
In line with the conference theme, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity in
a Digitizing World, this track responds to the aspiration for a more
just society, in which digital technologies are an integral part. In
this track, we welcome submissions - either as full research or research
in progress - that analyze the role digital technologies play in
different dimensions of contemporary life.
***** Topics *****
• Digital inclusion and economic development
• Digital inclusion of marginalized groups
• Digital technology and individuals with impairments
• Digital transformation and the future of work
• Social Inclusion in the digital era
• Online learning as platform for digital inclusion
• Political freedoms in the digital space
• Social networking sites and the digital inclusion
• The ethics of digital inclusion
• The inclusion/exclusion dichotomy of social media
• Using ICT to achieve digital integration at work, education, and society
***** Submission *****
In this track, we welcome submissions - either as full research or
research in progress.
Submission instructions and templates are to be found under the link
(https://ecis2020.ma/call-for-papers-and-panels/
<https://ecis2020.ma/call-for-papers-and-panels/>).
***** Publication *****
High quality papers from this track will be considered for publishing in
leading journals. These include:
· Fast-tracking to the Information Technology for Development Journal
(https://www.tandfonline.com/loi/titd20). We have started to discuss the
opportunity to channel papers into a special issue with editor in chief
of the Information Technology for Development Journal.
· Fast-tracked development towards Internet Research
(http://www.emeraldinsight.com/loi/intr). Internet Research (IntR) is an
international and refereed journal that is indexed and abstracted in
major databases (e.g., SSCI, SCI, ABI/INFORM Global). The topics
published in IntR are broad and interdisciplinary in nature. The impact
factor (2018) of the journal is 4.109.
***** Important Dates *****
• Paper submission deadline: November 29, 2019
• Acceptance notification: End of February, 2020
• ECIS conference: June 15–17, 2020
