Subject: [AISWorld] ***CALL FOR PAPERS*** International Journal of
Internet of Things and Cyber-Assurance (IJITCA)
Date: Tue, 10 Sep 2019 07:29:50 -0400
From: Tyson Brooks <dr.tyson.brooks(a)ieee.org>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org
*International Journal of Internet of Things and Cyber-Assurance (IJITCA)*
------------------------------------------------------------------
*Published by: Inderscience Publishers*
http://www.inderscience.com/jhome.php?jcode=ijitca
-------------------------------------------------------------------
****Journal Overview****
The objective of this journal is to increase the visibility of current
research and emergent trends in Cyber-Assurance theory, application,
embedded security and machine-learning for the Internet of Things (IoT),
software-defined networks (SDN)/network function virtualization (NFV) and
Fog computing architectures based on theoretical aspects and studies of
practical applications. Cyber-assurance is the justified confidence that
networked IoT systems are adequately secure to meet operational needs, even
in the presence of attacks, failures, accidents and unexpected events.
Cyber-assurance means that IoT systems, smart internet connected devices
(ICD) and networks provide the opportunity of automatically securing
themselves against cyber-attacks. The difference is that the concept of
cyber-assurance must provide embedded, secure microchips/processors in ICD
devices and virtual networks that can continue to operate correctly even
when subjected to an attack.
The IJITCA will cover fundamental to advanced topics necessary to grasp the
IoT current cyber-assurance issues, challenges and solutions as well as
future trends in secure IoT devices and networks. IoT devices and networks
may range from hand-held mobile devices to a centralized high performance
cloud computing environment consisting of heterogeneous communication
systems of both tactical (mobile, wireless) and fixed (wired)
communications infrastructures. From an information security perspective,
the IoT must address the delivery of authentic, accurate, secure, reliable
and timely information (regardless of threat conditions) over these
distributed and heterogeneous computing and communication systems. IoT
devices using SDN/NFV and Fog computing systems and networks should be able
to resist the various security cyber-attacks such as hacking of networks,
devices, theft of information, disruption, etc. and be able to continue
performing under severe environmental conditions. Through embedded
processors and machine learning algorithms over the transmitted
information, the miscoding and leaking of information during transmission
channels has to monitor any loss, miscoding and leaking of data. Timely
adjustments of information with falling quality and automatic switching to
the best routing IoT systems by making uses of multi-directional routing is
also warranted. Cyber-assurance will need to provide the principles and
technologies to unify these systems to deliver the end-state goal of secure
IoT systems for greatly enhanced interoperability, scalability,
performance, and agility.
Recommended topics for the journal include, but are not limited to, the
following:
- Hacking against IoT/Fog computing networks/devices
- SDN/NFV security architectures and designs
- Vulnerabilities and exploits in SDN/NFV architectures
- Automated IoT/Fog computing vulnerability identification,
- Research on automated IoT/Fog computing vulnerability assessment and
intrusion detection tools and techniques
- Genetic algorithms used to spawn and control intelligent agents for
information assurance for IoT/Fog computing devices
- Network management and visualization tools that support real time
planning and control of tactical nets as well as tools for intrusion
detection and forensic analysis in hybrid IoT/Fog computing networks
- IoT/Fog Computing frameworks which allow diverse input data streams to
be transformed into a unified information fusion space for processing using
more unified and tractable procedures
- Development of secure design methods, architectures, and
implementations to minimize IoT/Fog computing power dissipation
- IoT/Fog Computing sensor networking systems, including signal
processing and communications interactions, distributed detection and
estimation, and networking protocols,
- High frequency IoT/Fog Computing devices and modules to enhance
situational analysis and increase the communication functionality

Subject: [AISWorld] Call for Talks: 2nd Workshop on Teaching and
Learning Conceptual Modeling (TLCM 2019)
Date: Mon, 9 Sep 2019 15:13:52 +0000
From: Rosenthal, Kristina <kristina.rosenthal(a)fernuni-hagen.de>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Call for Talks for the 2nd Workshop on Teaching and Learning Conceptual
Modeling in Luxembourg (TLCM 2019)
Workshop Date: 27 November 2019
http://merode.econ.kuleuven.be/events/TLCM2019/
In conjunction with the 12th IFIP WG 8.1 Working Conference on the
Practice of Enterprise Modelling (PoEM 2019)
27 – 29 November, 2019, Luxembourg
https://www.poem2019conference.lu/
Viewed as an activity, conceptual modeling involves an intricate array
of cognitive processes and performed actions including: abstracting,
conceptualizing, associating, contextualizing, interpreting &
sense-making, judging & evaluating, drawing & visualizing; and, in group
settings: communicating, discussing and agreeing.
Learning conceptual modeling is, hence, a complex and challenging task
for learners: It requires rigorous analytical skills, mastering
theoretical foundations & modeling languages and experience in applying
them to practical problems, resulting in high-quality representations –
conceptual models.
Teaching conceptual modeling is a likewise challenging task faced by
didactic and practical challenges as it requires the use of theories and
methods of teaching that build upon fundamental assumptions about
learning and the learning process (often discussed in reference to the
broad classification of behaviorism, cognitivism and constructivism).
The 2nd Workshop on Teaching and Learning Conceptual Modeling at PoEM
series provides a forum to exchange experiences and novel ideas for
teaching and learning conceptual modeling.
Following the success of the 1st workshop in Vienna in 2018, we again
plan it as a full day workshop with a highly interactive atmosphere, we
seek to initiate constructive discussions and to foster in-workshop and
post-workshop collaboration among participants.
The workshop entails invited talks / keynote presentations and is open
for participation and contributed short talks, e.g., on teaching
innovations, teaching experiences, and teaching tool presentations.
Call for short talks:
If you are interested in contributing a short talk of roughly 10 minutes
up to a maximum of 20 minutes to this workshop, please contact us at
kristina.rosenthal(a)fernuni-hagen.de<mailto:kristina.rosenthal@fernuni-hagen.de>
and
estefania.serralasensio(a)kuleuven.be<mailto:estefania.serralasensio@kuleuven.be>.
You may present existing work that you would like to draw attention to,
or prospective work you seek feedback on. There are no proceedings, so
presentations to TLCM can be used for further publication. Slides or
papers will be published on the website if copyrights allow to do so.
Please note that contributing to the workshop implies registering for
PoEM 2019.

The International Conference on Performance Engineering (ICPE) is the
leading international forum for presenting and discussing novel ideas,
innovations, trends, and experiences in the field of performance
engineering. Today’s systems are complex, rely increasingly on dynamic
architectures, and raise continuously important challenges related to
end-to-end performance management. This applies equally to emerging
domains, such as cyber-physical systems, and the Internet of Things,
big data and machine learning environments, cloud/edge/fog
infrastructures, and social networks, and also to traditional domains,
such as web-based, data centers, mobile and wireless systems, and
real-time systems.
ICPE brings together researchers and practitioners to report
state-of-the-art and in-progress research on performance engineering
of software and systems, including but not limited to performance
modeling, analysis, measurement, benchmark design, and run-time
performance management. The focus is both on classical metrics such as
response time, throughput, resource utilization, and (energy)
efficiency, and on the relationship of such metrics to other system
properties including but not limited to scalability, elasticity,
availability, reliability, cost, sustainability, security, and
privacy.
This year’s main theme is “Performance Engineering under Uncertainty”.
Modern systems are subject to multiple sources of uncertainty due to
openness, heterogeneity, versatility, and variability. The complexity
of managing performance-related concerns under uncertainty is starting
to overwhelm even the capabilities of large engineering teams. We are
looking for contributions that use techniques to enhance the
performance modeling, estimation, and optimization of complex systems
while considering their intrinsic uncertainties. At the same time, we
are looking for all the contributions that improve the
state-of-the-art while analyzing the performance uncertainty of
software systems.

Call for Papers -JAIS Theory Development Workshop
Call for Papers for the JAIS-sponsored Theory Development Workshop
associated with ICIS 2019 in Munich, Germany.
Dear Colleague:
Since December 2002, the Journal of the Association for Information
Systems (JAIS) has organized a number of successful Theory Development
Workshops. In 2019, they will hold the 17thJAIS Theory Development
Workshop immediately before ICIS 2019. This workshop is scheduled to
take place from 1:30 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 15, 2019. The exact
location of the workshop will be announced at a later date.
Workshop information
The workshop promotes scholarship that focuses on new theoretical
advances in the information systems field. Workshop participants discuss
drafts of their theoretical work withJAIS board members, and other
workshop participants.
Authors are not obliged to submit their work to JAIS, although the
journal is a top-quality outlet that welcomes conceptual, theoretical,
and empirical papers. In fact, a number of papers that have received
feedback in past workshops have been submitted to the journal for
publication consideration each year, and some have been published.
Prior to the workshop, participants whose papers have been accepted for
discussion in the workshop will receive one to three papers to read and
review. The reviews follow a brief, structured format, and they are
intended to be constructive, offering recommendations for moving the
work forward.
During the workshop, participants meet in small groups where
participants receive feedback fromJAIS board members and provide
feedback on other participants’ papers. TheJAIS board members facilitate
the discussion such that each participant has equal time to receive
comments from the group’s members. Please consult theJAIS website for
the list of senior editors and the editorial board members
(http://aisel.aisnet.org/jais/).
Selection for the JAIS Theory Development Workshop is competitive. This
workshop primarily addresses theory building, conceptual foundations,
and model development issues. To be considered, a paper must demonstrate
significant theory development, with or without data. Please note that
there is a small fee associated with attending the workshop.
Papers currently accepted, under review, or under revision at other
journals or conferences should not be submitted.
