WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE
Cloud computing has emerged to address an explosive growth of web-connected devices, and handle massive amounts of data. It is defined and characterized by massive scalability and new Internet-driven economics. Yet, privacy, security, and trust for cloud computing applications are lacking in many instances and risks need to be better understood.
Privacy in cloud computing may appear straightforward, since one may conclude that as long as personal information is protected, it shouldn’t matter whether the processing is in a cloud or not. However, there may be hidden obstacles such as conflicting privacy laws between the location of processing and the location of data origin. Cloud computing can exacerbate the problem of reconciling these locations if needed, since the geographic location of processing can be extremely difficult to find out, due to cloud computing’s dynamic nature. Another issue is user-centric control, which can be a legal requirement and also something consumers want. However, in cloud computing, the consumers' data is processed in the cloud, on machines they don't own or control, and there is a threat of theft, misuse or unauthorized resale. Thus, it may even be necessary in some cases to provide adequate trust for consumers to switch to cloud services.
In the case of security, some cloud computing applications simply lack adequate security protection such as fine-grained access control and user authentication (e.g. Hadoop). Since enterprises are attracted to cloud computing due to potential savings in IT outlay and management, it is necessary to understand the business risks involved. If cloud computing is to be successful, it is essential that it is trusted by its users. Therefore, we also need studies on cloud-related trust topics, such as what are the components of such trust and how can trust be achieved, for security as well as for privacy.
MISSION
This year, the CPSRT workshop will bring together a diverse group of academics and industry practitioners in an integrated state-of-the-art analysis of privacy, security, risk, and trust in the cloud. The workshop will address cloud issues specifically related to access control, trust, policy management, secure distributed storage and privacy-aware map-reduce frameworks.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
The workshop includes but is not limited to the following topics that refer to computing in the cloud:
* Access control and key management
* Security and privacy policy management
* Identity management
* Remote data integrity protection
* Secure computation outsourcing
* Secure data management within and across data centers
* Secure distributed data storage
* Secure resource allocation and indexing
* Intrusion detection/prevention
* Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks and defense
* Web service security, privacy, and trust
* User requirements for privacy
* Legal requirements for privacy
* Privacy enhancing technologies
* Privacy aware map-reduce framework
* Risk or threat identification and analysis
* Risk or threat management
* Trust enhancing technologies
* Trust management
These topics give rise to a number of interesting research questions to be discussed at the workshop, such as the following:
* How can consumers retain control over their data when it is stored and processed in the cloud?
* How can users' trust in cloud computing be enhanced? How can reputation management be used in a practical way?
* How can transborder data flow regulations be enforced within the cloud?
* How can solutions be tailored to a specific context? For example, how can privacy and security requirements be gathered and matched to service provisioning in an automated or semi-automated way, and on an ongoing basis?
* How can adequate assurance be given about the way in which cloud providers process and protect data?
* How can audit mechanisms be provided for the cloud?
Software demonstrations are welcome. We encourage submissions of ‘greenhouse’ work, which present early stages of cutting-edge research and development.
SUBMISSION
The submission format must conform to the following: 10 pages maximum including figures, tables and references (see http://CPSRT.cloudcom.org/). Authors should submit the manuscript in PDF format. The official language of the meeting is English. Please submit your paper to the CPSRT 2010 Workshop submission server (https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?conf=cpsrt2010) via an EasyChair account.
DISSEMINATION
Peer-reviewed papers that are accepted for presentation at the workshop will be published in the CloudCom 2010 IEEE proceedings, and will be available in IEEExplore (EI indexing). The workshop organisers plan to invite the authors of selected high quality papers to revise and lengthen their papers for a special issue of a related journal or an edited book.

CFP: SIGPrag 2010 at ICIS in St. Louis
Get Pragmatic – Get Published!
In the IS field there is a growing recognition of the importance of theorizing the IT artefact and its organizational and societal context from a pragmatic, communicative, and action-oriented perspective. The aim of the AIS Special Interest Group on Pragmatist IS Research (SIGPrag) is to provide a much-needed centre of gravity and to facilitate exchange of ideas and further development of this area of IS scholarship. The first SIGPrag scientific event was held in Paris at ICIS 2008 and a second event was organized in Phoenix at ICIS 2009. SIGPrag now invites researchers to contribute papers advancing its central theme: theorizing the IT artefact and its organizational and societal context from a pragmatic, design and action-oriented perspective.
SIGPrag 2010 will address pragmatic issues across the full spectrum of information systems research, including areas such as systems development, social software, social media, social responsibility, business in society, business modelling, sustainable development, digital innovation, and IT in the supply chain. Diverse aspects of pragmatic theory, pragmatic research, and pragmatic methods are of special interest and especially their relation to other research streams such as design science research and action research. How can pragmatic IS research make a difference in practice and theory?
Submission will undergo peer-review and accepted papers will be presented at the SIGPrag meeting in conjunction with ICIS 2010 in St. Louis, MO, USA. Those interested should submit their paper through the Sprouts review system by September 17, 2010. Proceedings will be published through Sprouts. Submissions should follow the format of the ICIS template (see http://icis2010.aisnet.org/).
The format of SIGPrag 2010 will be highly interactive and developmental. Although we are soliciting high-quality, completed research papers, the assumption is that authors will develop these further for future submission to journals. Each author is therefore asked to identify which journal would be the primary future target for his or her work. This will be factored into the selection of reviewers and discussants at the event in St. Louis as a means to provide as much as possible actionable advice to increase the success of the subsequent journal submission. Submitting a paper also incurs and obligation to serve as discussant of another paper at the workshop, should ones own paper be accepted.
Important dates:
* September 17, 2010: Paper Submission
* October 22, 2010: Notification of acceptance
* November 19, 2010: Final Papers due

2010 ACM Symposium on Computer-Human Interaction for the Management of
Information Technology (CHIMIT '10) http://chimit10.org
<http://chimit10.org/>
November 12-13, 2010
San Jose, CA USA
Co-located with the 24th USENIX Large Installation System Administration
Conference (LISA '10) http://www.usenix.org/events/lisa10/
---------3rd CALL FOR PAPERS (3 weeks to deadline)--------------
Since 2007, CHIMIT has been the leading forum for discussing topics on
IT management with a focus on people, business, and technology. At
CHIMIT, researchers and practitioners share issues, solutions, and
research drawing upon fields such as human-computer interaction, human
factors, collaborative work, computer systems, and management and
service sciences to address cognitive, social, and technical issues in
managing the increasing complexity of modern Information Technology (IT)
systems.
Information Technology (IT) is central to modern life. From our homes to
our largest enterprises, we are surrounded by software and hardware
components that support our work and personal lives: wireless access
points, network routers, firewalls, virus scanners, databases, web
servers, storage and backup systems, etc. These components exist to
permit us to do other things, e.g., manage inventory, communicate with
friends or customers, sell products through websites, yet all too often
managing the underlying IT infrastructure takes time and resources away
from the real work at hand. IT systems have grown increasingly complex
over the years, and the cost for keeping the infrastructure running is
now a significant burden. We are at a turning point where further
advances in technology and business efficiency and growth require
fundamentally new approaches to IT system design, management, and services.
CHIMIT is an ACM-sponsored conference, and accepted Paper and Short
Paper submissions will be archived in the ACM Digital Library. We are
also soliciting submissions for Panels, Courses, Experience Reports and
a Poster Session for work in progress.
Suggested Topics
==============
- User Studies of IT infrastructure management in context, exposing user
needs, pain points, work practices, and examples of both successful and
unsuccessful work.
-Design - approaches to bring about improved, human-centered IT systems.
-Experimental Studies on the usage of new or existing IT systems.
-Tools and Techniques for improved administration, e.g., visualizations
of system behavior, or collaborative interfaces.
-Automation approaches to reduce administration workload or improve
productivity.
-Computer supported cooperative work – how do those who manage an
organization’s IT interact with the users they support, their technical
community, and other stakeholders?
-Organizational Knowledge - how can shared knowledge improve IT management.
-Processes and Practices - examples of best practices and improved
processes in IT management.
-New Technologies - how will the changing technological landscape (e.g.,
Cloud Computing, pervasive mobile devices, etc.) affect IT management?
-IT Beyond the Enterprise - what are the implications now that we're
doing backups, network configuration, etc. in the home?

ASCD 2010: Workshop on Advanced Software Composition and Decomposition
http://ascd.fiit.stuba.sk/
In conjunction with ADBIS 2010 (http://www.adbis2010.org/)
Novi Sad, Serbia, September 20-24, 2010
CALL FOR PAPERS
Workshop on Advanced Software Composition and Decomposition provides a
space to discuss advanced approaches to software composition and
decomposition (modularity) often classified as aspect-oriented software
development. Despite these approaches are often seen as a solution to
the problem of crosscutting concerns, they are of much wider
applicability and may serve in achieving an advanced, flexible
separation of concerns in general.
This is actually how aspect-orientation has been perceived at its
start—recognized then also in composition filters, subject-oriented
programming, or adaptive programming—before it got narrowed driven by
the need for an immediate working solution.
The workshop solicits submissions that target advanced approaches to
software composition and decomposition. This includes their application
throughout the software development lifecycle in general and in various
areas such as component-based systems, information systems, databases,
middleware, conceptual modeling, business process modeling, distributed
systems, service-oriented systems, etc., as well as their evaluation.
Among specific approaches, role modeling and the
Data–Context–Interaction (DCI) architecture are particularly
interesting. Exploring common backgrounds of advanced composition and
decomposition approaches deserves attention, too.
Submissions are expected to provoke a discussion that will go beyond the
ideas directly presented in the workshop with an outlook to be published
in a joint paper.
Papers should not exceed 10 pages in Springer LNCS format (using LaTeX
or Word template). Accepted papers will be published in proceedings
(with ISBN) distributed at the ADBIS 2010 conference and will be made
available online. A selection of outstanding papers may be invited for
publication in an internationally recognized journal (subject to
additional reviewing).
Papers should be original contributions not submitted or accepted for
publication elsewhere. For an accepted paper to appear in the
proceedings, at least one author must register and attend the conference.
