Betreff: [EDEN-News] EDEN Research Workshop, Budapest - Call for Papers
Datum: Fri, 25 Jun 2010 10:33:37 +0200
Von: EDEN Secretariat <secretariat(a)eden-online.org>
Organisation: European Distance and E-Learning Network
An: undisclosed-recipients:;
*EDEN* *Chain Bridge*
*Invitation*
The 2010 Research Workshop will continue the EDEN tradition of
highlighting bi-annually the relevant emerging fields in research and
innovative practice.
The Budapest event will offer a platform to present newly born research,
theory and practice about assessing the value and impact of e-learning,
exchange ideas about the objectives, methods, tools and results of
making assessment personalised and inspiring experience in schools and
workplaces of the future.
We invite researchers, practitioners and experts in evaluation and
quality, developers of online assessments, and test users to share
experience about this highly innovative e-learning field.
Raising motivation of young researchers, to provide a space where people
would like to present their research will be amongst the strategic aims
of the workshop. Special fees for the members of the Group of the Young
Researchers at the EDEN NAP Area will be offered.
The workshop is organised in collaboration with ICDE -- the
International Council for Distance Education and EFQUEL -- the European
Foundation for Quality in E-learning.
*Research Questions in Focus*
* The real value of e-learning, which is questioned for different
reasons in different contexts, may be boosted by credible and
appropriate evaluation methods and practices. In the context of
assessment, the quality dimension is emerging as contribution to
the valuation of ICT supported learning, its re-positioning by
better evaluation methods.
* The quest for added value -- how can contribute the new forms of
learning, in circumstances of hard socio-economic challenges -- is
strongly coming forward.
* Online assessment techniques are among the hot topics in
educational research, as they provide opportunity to assess skills
and competences in the context they occur.
* Peer production and user-created content are becoming important
elements as learners are no longer just consumers, but they
actively participate in the process and influence it.
* When we evaluate user generated content, quality may be both the
result of the interplay between peer production and peer
validation process of digital content. The issue of transparency,
together with credibility is high on the agenda.
* Call for Papers*
You are invited to submit full proposals (no abstracts are required) for
paper presentations in parallel sessions, or posters that relate to one
or more of the conference themes. Poster presentations will also be
themed and moderated in related panel discussions. For details and
format requirements please, visit the respective conference page
<http://www.eden-online.org/eden.php?menuId=517>.
There will also be space in the programme for a limited number of
workshops, introducing a more comprehensive theme and for interactive
(learning café or cracker barrel) sessions. The maximum number of
workshops, cracker-barrel/learning café sessions will be 10 altogether.
Papers should be submitted in *English* by *23th August* or for later
submissions by *5th September* 2010, through the online submission form
<http://www.eden-online.org/online/budapest_rw/submit>.
Authors of papers submitted by 23th August will be notified about

The authors will have 25 minutes to present their paper at the
conference.
The program committee will review and evaluate papers according to the
following criteria:
* Quantity and quality of novel content
* Relevance and interest to the Tcl/Tk community
* Suitability of content for presentation at the conference
Proposals may report on commercial or non-commercial systems, but
those with only blatant marketing content will not be accepted.
Application and experience papers need to strike a balance between
background on the application domain and the relevance of Tcl/Tk to
the application. Application and experience papers should clearly
explain how the application or experience illustrates a novel use of
Tcl/Tk, and what lessons the Tcl/Tk community can derive from the
application or experience to apply to their own development efforts.
Papers accompanied by non-disclosure agreements will be returned to
the author(s) unread. All submissions are held in the highest
confidentiality prior to publication in the Proceedings, both as a
matter of policy and in accord with the U. S. Copyright Act of 1976.
The primary author for each accepted paper will receive registration
to the Technical Sessions portion of the conference at a reduced rate.
Other Forms of Participation
The program committee also welcomes proposals for panel discussions of
up to 90 minutes. Proposals should include a list of confirmed
panelists, a title and format, and a panel description with position
statements from each panelist. Panels should have no more than four
speakers, including the panel moderator, and should allow time for
substantial interaction with attendees. Panels are not presentations
of related research papers.
Slots for Works-in-Progress (WIP) presentations and Birds-of-a-Feather
sessions (BOFs) are available on a first-come, first-served basis
starting in August 1, 2010. Specific instructions for reserving WIP

Call for Workshop Proposals 6^th Conference Professional Knowledge Management 2011 (WM 2011)
The Conference Series on Professional Knowledge Management 2011 provides a broad integrative overview of organizational, cultural, social and technical aspects on knowledge management. Focus of the conference is bringing together different research disciplines and sharing experiences gained in the different areas where knowledge management is applied.
From Knowledge to Action. The conference seeks workshop proposals covering the entire field of knowledge management. There are no methodological limitations in this conference. Thus, we seek contributions with a practice-oriented, e.g., conceptual or case study focus as much as contributions with a quantitative-empirical, qualitative-interpretive or design-science-engineering-oriented approach. Special emphasis is given to contributions targeting insights into or solutions for the challenge of putting knowledge into action. The conference provides a platform so that people engaged and committed to knowledge management from these diverse perspectives get to know each other, approach each other and connect their experiences in order to strengthen relevance and impact of knowledge management results as well as lessons learned from their application.
Both, practitioners and scientists will be invited to visit Innsbruck, Austria, in order to exchange experiences, to discuss current problems and challenges and learn from each other. Participants will get a well-founded overview of the most important trends in the area of knowledge management. Therefore, our conference offers much time and space for communication.
We would like to invite you to contribute actively by organizing a workshop at WM2011. There will be opportunities for half-day, one-day, and two-day workshops. Please submit your workshop proposal electronically in PDF or Postscript format. The proposal can be written in German or English and should not be submitted later than July 15th, 2010, via the conference system
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wm2011
Each proposal should explain on 2-3 pages the topic of the workshop, the potential audience (as concretely as possible), and information about the intended length (in terms of number of papers to be presented). Furthermore, a tentative program committee should be given.
In case the proposal is accepted, the workshop organizers are responsible for the organization of the workshop completely including distribution of the workshop call-for-papers, maintenance of their own web page, organization and implementation of the review process, and providing the camera-ready submissions in time. Furthermore, all workshops have to follow the time schedule given below. The workshop organizers have to mention that at least one author of an accepted paper has to be registered to the conference.
Accepted submissions will be published in joint conference proceedings. Every workshop will have access to a given amount of pages depending on the length of the workshop.
Program Structure

CFP: ACIS 2010 Track ³Service Management& Engineering²
http://conferenceit.com.au/acis2010/Conference%20Tracks_Service.htm
as part of the
21st Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS 2010)
Brisbane, Australia, 1-3 December 2010, http://acis2010.org
IMPORTANT DATES
Paper submission: 12 July 2010
Notification of acceptance: 17 September 2010
ACIS 2010 conference: 1-3 December 2010
MOTIVATION AND SUGGESTED TOPICS OF THE ³SERVICE MANAGEMENT& ENGINEERING²
TRACK
An increasing number of activities of public and private organizations are
engineered and managed as services, often creating a new potential for
economic growth and welfare through innovation and productivity gains. In
addition to the increasing importance of the service perspective in the
business domain, the service concept has also become very prominent in the
IT domain. This is evident in developments like IT Service Management,
Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA), Service Computing, and various
³XYZ-as-a-Service² concepts. While this increasingly blurs the line between
a business view and an IT view of services, these concepts generally have
different meanings and refer to different domains. Thus, there is a need for
understanding how these two service worlds meet and how they change the
alignment of business needs and IT capabilities.
This conference track seeks contributions that demonstrate how the IS
discipline and related management disciplines can make an impact to improve
the way organizations face the challenges of the progressing
service-oriented economy that increasingly merges business- and IT-related
service concepts.
AWARDS AND JOURNAL SPECIAL ISSUE: THE JOURNAL OF STRATEGIC INFORMATION
SYSTEMS
There will be a ³Best Paper in the Track² Award and a ³Best Reviewer in the
Track² Award to acknowledge outstanding contributions. Authors of selected
