Terrorism and crime threaten the international community and our
society more than ever before. Criminal networks and terrorist groups
that often operate globally try to hide their illegal activities by
using advanced information and communications technology. They
communicate easier and form global communities that are hard to track.
Fortunately, resources like social media, event logs, phone call logs,
web logs, and other time series data, constitute a rich source for
knowledge discovery. There is a serious need for innovative techniques
and tools capable of achieving the ultimate goal of early warning to

Commercial games, especially Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing
Games (MMORPGs) such as World of Warcraft and EverQuest are
very popular nowadays. These types of games not only have fantasy
interfaces and rich storylines, but they also give the players a lot of power
to control what they want to do in the game world. This freedom of choice allows
players to do what they want when they want, aligning well with
the constructivist paradigm of learning. This opens up a host of possibilities
for using these game approaches in education to potentially improve
learner’s learning experience and performance.
This special issue focuses on sharing experiences and innovations in theoretical
and conceptual issues related to the development of practical mobile and
internet-based educational games. The aim is to provide readers with
evidences and experiments that account for learners' experiences and
perceptions related to knowledge and concepts acquisition through
game approaches in various disciplines and domains.

Betreff: [WI] CfP: Workshop on Model-Driven and Agile Engineering for
the Web (MDWE) @ ICWE 2013
Datum: Fri, 15 Mar 2013 17:39:14 +0000
Von: Wimmer Manuel <wimmer(a)big.tuwien.ac.at>
An: wi(a)aifb.uni-karlsruhe.de <wi(a)aifb.uni-karlsruhe.de>
****** CALL FOR PAPERS ******
MDWE 2013
9th International Workshop on Model-Driven and Agile Engineering for the Web
Workshop at ICWE 2013
http://mdwe2013.dlsi.ua.es
Aalborg, Denmark
July 8th, 2013
****** OVERVIEW ******
Web Engineering is a specific domain in which systematic development is needed and therefore approaches such as model-driven and agile development can be successfully applied. Existing model-based Web engineering approaches already provide excellent methods and tools for the design and development of most kinds of Web applications.
They address different concerns using separate models (content, navigation, presentation, workflows, etc.) and come with model compilers that produce most of the applications Web pages and logic based on these models. In practice, however, most of these Web Engineering proposals do not fully exploit all the potential benefits of Model-driven Engineering (MDE), such as complete platform independence, metamodeling, and model transformations.
The MDE paradigm offers advantages such as technology independent models and (partially) automatic generation of applications, but also well-known problems such as maintenance of the models. Thus, there are defenders of MDE and also defenders of alternative paradigms such as agile development processes. We want to raise a lively and constructive discussion on pro and cons, and how in practice we can benefit from both, a MDE and an agile development process.
This year we would like to introduce, within the workshop, a debate about major research challenges ahead in which we, as a community, discuss the next necessary steps to reach a higher adoption of MDWE in industry. Based on this initial debate, working groups, each focusing on a particular challenge, are foreseen to elaborate on how MDWE combined with agile development principles may has to advance in the upcoming years.
****** WORKSHOP TOPICS ******
Both academia and industry are invited to submit papers on the following (but not exclusive) topics of interest:

Dear Gustaf Neumann,
ICEIS 2013 welcomes the submission of position papers whose deadline is set for next April 3.
A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. It is, nevertheless, important to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims. A position paper may be a short report and discussion of ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research (bibliographic, experimental, theoretical, or other) focused on one of the conference topics.
The acceptance of a position paper is restricted to the categories of "short paper" or "poster". Please check further details about position papers submission at the conference website (http://www.iceis.org/GuidelinesTemplates.aspx#paper_formats).
The conference will be sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and co-organized by the ESEO Group. It will be held in cooperation with the the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE), IEICE Special Interest Group on Software Interprise Modelling (SWIM), the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), ACM SIGMIS - ACM Special Interest Group on Management Information Systems and ACM SIGCHI - ACM Special Interest Group on Computer Human Interaction and also in collaboration with the Informatics Research Center (IRC). INSTICC is Member of the Object Management Group (OMG) and Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC). SCITEVENTS (Science and Technology Events - http://www.scitevents.com/) will be the logistic partner.
ICEIS is interested in promoting high quality research as it can be confirmed by last year acceptance rates, where from 299 submissions, 9% were accepted as full papers. Additionally, 25% were presented as short papers and 19% as posters.
Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support.
The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), INSPEC, DBLP and EI (Elsevier Index).
All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library (http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/). SCITEPRESS is a member of CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org/).
ICEIS 2013 will be held in conjunction with ENASE 2013 (http://www.enase.org) in Angers, France. Registration to ICEIS will enable free attendance to any sessions of ENASE 2013 conference as a non-speaker.

*Call for Papers *
Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) 47
Big Island, Hawaii, January 6-9, 2014
*Minitrack: Crowdsourcing Content Production and Online Knowledge
Repositories*
*Track: Digital and Social Media*
As various forms of collaboration are enabled (and constrained) by the
affordances available in social media, researchers are investigating a
range of issues including: 1) the diverse ways in which people
collaborate to create, manage, curate and manipulate online content and
how these activities affect digital repositories; 2) how those who
manage these repositories are responding to the dynamics of online
co-creation of content; 3) the dynamics of crowdsourced online
collaborations and online communities of practice; and 4) the ways in
which we can best describe the socio-technical interaction networks that
facilitate and inhibit mass knowledge production.
In this mini track we are interested in empirical and theoretical work
that addresses these and related socio-technical issues. Papers of
interest will examine communities of online knowledge repositories such
as YouTube, Yahoo! Answers, Wikipedia, and others and may address in
this context topics such as:
. The socio-technical dynamics of crowdsourcing and mass knowledge
production sites
. Vandalism and trolling in online mass knowledge production sites
. Conflict and cooperation in content production sites
. Issues of gender in collaborative content production sites
. Global, cross-cultural and international aspects of content production
and online intercultural collaborations in online content creation
communities
. Managing ethics in online mass knowledge production communities
. Building, maintaining and ending social relationships on online
repositories sites
. Social question answering and collaborative information seeking behaviors
. Challenges and opportunities of digital curation
. Standards and quality of digital content online

Betreff: [AISWorld] 2nd CFP: Book Demand-Driven Web Services: Theory,
Technologies and Applications
Datum: Thu, 14 Mar 2013 16:36:36 +1100
Von: Zhaohao Sun <zhaohao.sun(a)gmail.com>

CALL FOR BOOK CHAPTERS
Book: Demand-Driven Web Services: Theory, Technologies and Applications
Edited by Zhaohao Sun and John Yearwood
To be released by IGI Global, USA in early 2014
Website: http://www.igi-global.com/publish/call-for-papers/call-details/927
Theme
Web services are playing a pivotal role both in business, service
computing and social networking services, and cloud computing. This is
also the case in the traditional FREG (foods, resources, energy and
goods) services, because almost all traditional services are replaced
fully or partially by web services. Demand-driven web services (DDWS) as
a tri-paradigm, a computing paradigm, a service paradigm, and a
management paradigm, is becoming important for web services, service
computing, cloud computing, and social networking computing. However,
many fundamental issues in developing DDWS remain open. For example,
what is the demand theory of web services? What is a demand-driven
architecture of web services? How should real world demands be
classified? How should web services be classified? How can an ontology
of web services be developed? This book will address these issues by
exploring the cutting-edge theory, technologies, and methodologies of
demand driven web services based on the novel classification of demands
and web services emphasizing cloud services, mobile services, social
networking services and e-business services
from a perspective of computing, service and management. This book also
provides applications of the proposed theory, technologies and
methodologies to successful demand-driven web services in the real
world. The proposed approaches will facilitate research and development
of web services, e-business, service computing, mobile computing, cloud
computing, and social computing.
Aims and Scope
This book aims at a broad audience of researchers and practitioners, and
provides the reader with an updated understanding of demand-driven web
services, cloud services, mobile services, and social networking
services by attracting high quality manuscripts from academic
researchers, policy makers and practitioners in this area. Papers of all
theoretical and technological approaches and applications are welcome.
Submissions that cross multiple disciplines such as service, business,
management, industry, information systems, and intelligent systems to
develop theory and provide technologies and applications that could move
theory and practice forward in demand-driven web services, cloud
services, mobile services, e-business services, and social networking
services are especially encouraged.

CF Research-In-Progress-Papers
6th Intl. Conf. on Communities and Technologies 2013
June 29th - July 2nd in Munich, Germany
Only three days to go ...
The Sixth International Conference on Communities and Technologies (C&T 2013), hosted from 29th June – 2nd July 2013 in Munich serves as a forum for stimulating and disseminating research on the complex connections between communities – both physical and virtual – and information and communication technologies.
To stimulate discussion around new topics we encourage researchers to submit research in progress in the form of research-in-progress papers to C&T 2013. Research-in-progress papers are the same as full papers but typically represent work that is incomplete, yet promising. So, while the maximum length for research-in-progress papers is 10 pages, also a comprehensive 4 page description might be a valuable contribution worth to be presented at the conference.
Submission deadline for research-in-progress papers is March 15th.
So, if you are currently finishing some interesting results, consider to submit this in the form of a research-in-progress paper.
See http://www.ct2013.cnss.de/cfp/ for the full Call For Papers of C&T 2013.
