Call for Paper
*Workshop auf der Informatik 2013: **Virtuelle Welten und Gamification*
**
*Allgemeine Thematik:*
zielgerichtete Online-Spiele („Serious Games“) beziehungsweise Elemente
In diesem
Zusammenhang sind die Potenziale für neuartige E-Business
Anwendungen zu erforschen, Anwendungskontexte und Funktionen zu
beschreiben, Anforderungen an die technische Infrastruktur zu
spezifizieren und die organisatorischen und institutionellen
Rahmenbedingungen zu bestimmen, unter denen entsprechende
Geschäftsaktivitäten vollzogen werden können.
Kontexten (z.B. Wissensmanagement, Innovationsmanagement, Aus- und
Weiterbildung)
* Einsatz von Spielmechaniken in verschiedenen Industrien (z.B.
Automobilindustrie)
* Praxisbeispiele, insbesondere Prototypen und Show Cases von
Gamification und Serious Games
* Design, Entwicklung und Betrieb von Gamification-Anwendungen und
Serious Games
Kundenintegration
* Integration der Technologie virtueller Welten mit anderen
Technologien und Informationssystemen
* Virtuelle Welten und Computerspiele in der Aus- und Weiterbildung

Betreff: [AISWorld] Final CFP: Pre-ECIS Workshop "Large-scale
communication systems in search of better theories and methods"
Datum: Mon, 4 Mar 2013 14:18:22 +0100
Von: Marijn Plomp <m.g.a.plomp(a)vu.nl>
An: <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Apologies for cross-postings of this announcement.
*Call for Papers for Pre-ECIS 2013 Workshop*
*Large-scale communication systems in search of better theories and methods*
June 4, 2013
IS projects frequently exceed the boundaries of a single organisation.
Enterprise systems more and more often contain interorganisational
elements, and digital collaboration takes place at a seemingly
ever-increasing scale. However, these cross-organisational IT projects
require a different approach with different concepts, strategies and
methods. That is why large-scale information infrastructures often fail
and sometimes even backfire. The assessment framework of
Chain-computerisation (Grijpink, 2010) enables reducing these often
costly mistakes. With the results of a chain analysis, a chain
information strategy can be defined focused on the development and
maintenance of chain information systems. An organisation strategy can
be derived from the chain analysis results, as well.
With this workshop, we hope to further the debate on concepts, theories
and methods for improving the chances of large-scale,
interorganisational IT projects.
This call concerns a workshop organized before the 2013 European
Conference on Information Systems (ECIS). We invite researchers, PhD
students, and practitioners to join the discussion and present their
work in this area. Manuscripts ideally focus on large-scale chain
information systems covering theoretical, methodical, and/or practical
aspects. Research papers are especially welcome.
*Topics of interest*
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Interorganisational information systems (IOS)
- Interorganisational relationships (IOR)
- Large-scale information infrastructures
- Identity (fraud) in IOS
- Privacy in IOS
- Chain analyses of social chains
- Coping with resistance to change in large-scale situations of
co-operation and information exchange
- Governance of large-scale co-operation
*Workshop organizers*
- Prof. Dr. Mr. J.H.A.M. Grijpink, Emeritus, Utrecht University, the
Netherlands
- Dr. M.G.A. Plomp, VU University Amsterdam, the Netherlands
- Mrs. T. Visser, MSc, PwC, the Netherlands
The e-mail address that should be used for all communication regarding
this workshop is: ecisworkshop(a)gmail.com.

A special issue will be prepared for the Journal of
Chain-computerisation (JCC). JCC publishes articles on large-scale
information exchange for social issues. The journal focuses on the
development and maintenance of information-infrastructures for chain
wide co-operation of independent organisations and professionals in a
specific social sector, e.g. criminal law enforcement, health care,
identity management or education. For more information, see:

VENUE*
Varazdin is a charming and hospitable baroque town on the right bank of
the Drava
River in the north-west of Croatia, 79 km north-east of Zagreb. It has a
population
of over 40,000. You can visit the town's official website at
http://www.varazdin.hr.
The Faculty building, adjacent to the town Cathedral, used to be a
monastery. The
building overlooks the picturesque central square with the Town Hall,
one of the
historical buildings gathered around the square. The Town Hall,
reconstructed in the
16th century, contains typical elements of both Gothic and Baroque
architecture. A
Faculty web camera enables a real-time view of Central Square
(http://www.foi.unizg.hr/cro/(webcam)/ok).

Scope and Topics of Interest
Green communications and computing has been increasingly emphasized in recent years, on the grounds not only of ecological concerns but also of significant economic drivers (cost saving). The current explosive growth in the number of devices connected to the Internet and in transmission capacity calls for "green solutions" to address the challenges in energy efficient and/or resource-efficient and/or environmentally-friendly communications and computing systems.
This track solicits contributions describing current trends and cutting-edge research in communication and computing systems and networks that incorporate "green" constraints in their design and operation. It covers a wide range of green communications topics, including not only green-enabled communications and computing networks, but also communication and computing technologies enabling other green solutions such as smart grids, green buildings and green logistics.
The objective of this track is to facilitate substantial advances in new system architectures, protocols and algorithms, which may allow significant reductions in energy and/or resource consumption. Prospective authors are invited to submit their original work addressing new and emerging issues in communications and networking on the above themes. Submissions are welcome from academia, industry and government organizations.

CALL FOR PAPERS
================================================
The Third International Workshop
on Complex Information Flows (CIF 2013)
July 22, 2013.
in conjunction with
COMPSAC 2013
The 37th Annual International
Computer Software & Applications Conference
Kyoto, Japan
July 22-26, 2013
================================================
* THEME AND SCOPE
Complex systems are characterized by the presence of intricate
interactions between their heterogeneous parts, and an overall behavior
which can not be easily explain by the properties of these individual
components. For such systems, it is therefore particularly interesting to
focus on how information flows between these parts, in terms of dynamical
and statistical properties. This flow may represent data on a
communication network, financial market interactions, gene interactions,
or even a disease spreading within a population.
Due to their complexity, the analysis of such systems is not trivial. They
are associated with large datasets, which require advanced techniques.
Similarly, prediction implies the development of refined models and
simulation tools. Such developments are often only possible
high-performance computing. Cloud computing also emerges as a suitable
option in some cases, and several presentations at this workshop will look
at these alternatives.
Any submission whose content is relevant to the areas of data analysis,
computational modeling, networks and complex systems will be considered,
but any submission whose subject matter is related to one of the following
topics will be particularly welcome:
*** Analysis and modeling of large-scale networks (e.g. communication
networks, social networks)
- Modeling and design of complex networks
- Tools and metrics for large networks
- Information diffusion in communication networks
*** Towards e-Health: biomedical and social systems
- Network approaches in genetics and epigenetics
- Personalized medicine
- Population studies: alert systems, epidemic modeling, etc.
- Big (bio-)data: biological and medical data analysis
*** New solutions for computationally-intensive problems
- HPC for data analytics
- Cloud computing
- Pre-computation
- Optimization approaches to complex systems
*** Tools and Case-studies
- Applications, experience reports and case studies in data analytics
- Applications, experience reports and case studies in computational modeling
