The 6th IEEE International Conference on Service-Oriented
Computing and Applications
December 16-18, 2013
Kauai, Hawaii
Call for Papers
Service-oriented computing is considered today a key
technology for the development of robust and high quality
intelligent distributed and embedded applications. Extensive
research and development in the past few years has pushed
SOA technology into state-of-the-art application areas such
as context-aware, cloud-connected, mobile enterprise
systems. However, many of the critical components on
building reliable, robust, and user-centric sensor-based SOA
systems are still open for research. Hence, it is timely to
reexamine SOA research opportunities and identify new
research challenges for next generation SOA.
One of the future SOA applications is large-scale
cyber-physical systems (CPSs) that include deep interactions
between cyber-sides and physical-sides through massive
sensors, actuators, mobile devices, and computing servers
connected by heterogeneous networks. The services of
large-scale CPSs have challenging requirements such as
accurate timeliness, high reliability, and dynamic
adaptability. Many of the service components are deployed on
resource limited embedded systems and are performance
sensitive; others are deployed on cloud servers providing
highly parallel services. Thus, SOA may provide effective
solutions for managing the ever-increasing complexity while
meeting the challenging requirements of CPS services on
largely distributed, heterogeneous and dynamic resource
environments.
The 2013 IEEE International Conference on Service-Oriented
Computing and Applications (SOCA2013) will be held in Kauai,
Hawaii, with topics of general service oriented computing
and also the focused area of SOA for large-scale CPSs. The
conference includes three days of parallel tracks program,

S===================================
1st International Workshop on The Social
Enterprise - SE 2013
http://www.iceis.org/SE.aspx
3 - 4 July, 2013 -
Angers, France
In conjunction with the 15th International Conference on Enterprise
Information Systems - ICEIS 2013
Submission deadline: April, 9 2013
Scope
Today’s enterprises are caught in the middle of a major financial storm
that is putting at risk their profit, growth, and even survival. To
respond to this storm, the enterprises have launched different initiatives
to improve their business processes and align their development strategies
with market needs, for example.
Regular enterprise applications like Enterprise Resource Planning and
Supply Chain Management implement structured business processes in which
the steps to perform are well defined. Basically there is little room for
leadership and innovation during the completion of these processes without
triggering a complex re-thinking process that usually takes time to
implement and see its effects, which is sometimes late and inefficient due
to business constant changes. Several decisions are to be made on the fly
based on unstructured data that people receive from various sources. Some
of these data are part of people's tacit knowledge.
This workshop focuses on online sources (with focus on social applications
like social networks and blogs) that illustrate Web 2.0 widespread
adoption. Social applications rely on users’ ability and willingness to
interact, share, and recommend. However, the richness and complexity of
information in these applications pose challenges on how to capture and
structure this information for future use while preserving user privacy
and information sensitivity. Different studies encourage enterprises to
allow their employees to embrace social applications in order to establish
and foster contacts with their colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
Topics of Interest
This workshop aims at addressing the lack of techniques and guidelines
that would enable enterprises to weave social relationships (e.g.,
collegiality, fairness, and supervision) into their operations. This
should lead into business processes in the enterprise that reinforce the
fact that employees establish and maintain social networks of contacts,
rely on some privileged contacts when needed, and form with other peers
strong and long lasting social collaborative groups. In today’s economies,
an enterprise’s ability to sustain its growth and competitiveness depends
on how well it socially manages its communications with various
stakeholders for instance, customers, suppliers, competitors, and partners.
Specific possible topics include (but not limited to):
* Service computing for the social enterprise
* Standards for the social enterprise
* Methods for designing the social enterprise
* Semantic technologies for the social enterprise
* Privacy and security in the social enterprise
* Context management for the social enterprise
* Case studies

Subject: [AISWorld] IT&M -- Special Issue on Information
Systems to Support Sustainable Consumption and Supply
Date: Thu, 21 Mar 2013 01:01:15 +0000

Call for Papers
Information Technology and Management Special Issue on
Information Systems to Support Sustainable Consumption and Sustainable Supply
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Responding to rising concerns about environmental sustainability, governments around the world have committed to the promotion of more sustainable consumption patterns. Mainstream approaches to promoting sustainable consumption often involve government interventions: to correct prices, and to provide regulatory frameworks to influence producers to become more eco-efficient. Unfortunately, the success of these actions is frequently limited by information barriers. Consumers have limited information about the social and environmental impacts of products, and have long relied instead on price information as well as information available on the product package in making their buying decisions. This lack of information creates difficulties for consumers when assessing and understanding the implications of their choices. Similarly, lack of integrated information about environmental impacts in the sustainable supply chain could potentially disrupt the entire system. These disruptions could, in turn, create higher costs for actors in the supply chain.
Despite the connection between sustainable consumption and sustainable supply chain management, current research shows little integration between these areas. Recent technological developments have the potential to uncover the "black box" of supply chain processes, helping consumers to make more sustainable buying choices. These innovations have the capacity to streamline the information flow from producer to consumer within supply chains. Ontologies, Linked Data, and Semantic Web technologies can handle the problems that arise when integrating massive amounts of multi-thematic and multi-perspective information from heterogeneous sources to answer complex questions that cut through supply chain domain boundaries. The innovative use of technologies such as WiFi, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, smartphones, Quick Response (QR) codes, and social media enables information tracing as well as opening supply chain information to the public, thus reducing the "information asymmetry" that pervades modern supply chains. Reducing barriers to information would benefit not only consumers but also other actors in the supply chain.
Our special issue focuses on how information technology can be leveraged to support transparency of supply chain and consumer trust in order to support sustainable consumption. One of the key objectives, besides promoting in-depth discussion on the technological, social, economic, and political implications of developing sustainable supply chain, is to bridge the research gap between sustainable consumption and sustainable supply chain literature.
In addition, we seek to expand and incorporate various research approaches and methodologies including but not limited to theoretical framing, empirical studies utilizing quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, modeling, and simulation. Further, papers on Semantic web approaches that describe the theory and practice of storing, accessing, searching, mining, processing, and visualizing big data are invited. Multidisciplinary perspectives connecting the study of information technology with design science, economics, organizational studies, and political science are particularly encouraged.
Topics may include but are not limited to:
. Stakeholders involvement in designing information systems that support sustainable supply chain and sustainable consumption
. Process modeling of sustainable supply chain integration
. Semantic technologies to support sustainable supply chain integration
. Methods and models to deliver trusted supply chain information to consumers
. Interoperable data architectures that support the integration of sustainable consumption and sustainable supply chains
. Information architectures that capture the diversity of various certification schemes to inform consumers and help supply chain participants to build more sustainable products and services
. The antecedents, processes, and impacts of trust development using information systems to support sustainable consumption
. Consumer perception, intention, and behavior changes when provided with multiple dimensions of product information, such as health, social, and environmental dimensions
. Crowd sourcing and use of social media in supporting sustainable consumption
. Economics of electronic markets for sustainable production and consumption
. Simulation models to study market responses and other interactions among information systems, inter-organizational dynamics, and social processes that are useful for developing systems to support sustainable supply chain integration
. Governance models and public policies addressing the openness of the data to support traceability and other public benefits without hampering the competitiveness of businesses.
. The role of governments or international governing bodies in ensuring smart data disclosure and integrity of product information.
. Globalization of information systems in terms of, product information standard, market, consumption, and sustainability.
. Semantic interoperability and heterogeneity
. Knowledge discovery from linked data
. Applications of semantic technologies and linked data
Keywords: Sustainable Supply, Sustainable Consumption, Public Policies for enhancing Data sharing and transparency, Simulation models, Semantic Web.
Questions pertaining to this special issue may be sent to any of the editors.

PROFES 2013 ? 14th International Conference on
Product-Focused Software Development and Process Improvement
12-14 June, Azia Resort and Spa, Paphos Cyprus
*** Last Call for Short Papers & Posters ***
http://profes2013.cs.ucy.ac.cy
PROFES ?13 invites submissions of Short papers and Posters
related to all the topics of interest of the
conference. Papers that address collaborations between
industry and academia, case studies as well as
experience reports on any of the conference themes are welcome.
For more information on the conference topics, visit the
PROFES 2013 webpage
(http://profes2013.cs.ucy.ac.cy).
Short papers should promote current work, research,
practices, experiences, and issues that are not at a
mature stage to be submitted as full papers. As so, they
represent a good way for fast tracking new technical
work in progress. Short papers will be presented in a
special session and will be published in the conference
proceedings.
Posters should visually express an idea, and experience or
research results in an appealing form. Work
presented in a poster does not have to be fully developed,
as so it represents a manner for receiving feedback
on new ideas. Furthermore, an interesting poster will
encourage interaction among conference participants,
favor discussion, and possibly promote future
collaborations. Posters will be displayed at the conference.
Submissions
Short papers must not be more than 4 pages and poster
proposals not more than 2 pages. Each submission
will be peer-reviewed by the short paper and poster committee.
All submitted short papers must conform to the Springer LNCS
author guidelines found at:
http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0.164.7.72376.0).
Publication is dependent on at least one author registering
to attend PROFES 2013.
