Subject: [WWW2002-ANNOUNCE:1] First E-Announcement of WWW2002 May 7-11 in Hawaii
Date: Sun, 26 Aug 2001 11:38:12 -1000
From: WWW2002 Annoucements <www2002(a)www2002.org>
To: WWW2002-ANNOUNCE mailing list <announce(a)www2002.org>
Aloha and welcome to the WWW2002 Announcements list!
You are a member of this list either because you have attended or
expressed interest in a previous International World Wide Web Conference
(WWW1-WWW10) or because you inquired specifically about WWW2002. This
list will be used only for VERY occasional informational bulletins from
WWW2002 and is not available for any other purpose. If you wish to be
removed from all future WWW conference announcements please see the
instructions at the end of this message.
First, you will notice that the organizing committee for the WWW
conferences, IW3C2, has decided that beginning with WWW2002 the
conferences will embed the year rather than the conference number in the
title. So WWW2002 is the new name for what would have been WWW11.
The WWW2002 organizers are honored to have been selected to host the 11th
conference in this prestigious and important series, and we look forward
to building on the shoulders of prior organizers to bring you the best WWW
conference ever. Hawaii is truly the meeting place between East and West,
and we will be holding WWW2002 in a hotel rather than a convention center
which will further enhance the opportunities for interpersonal interaction
and informal networking.
Our International Program Committee is almost fully assembled and already
working to bring you an outstanding program. As always, WWW2002 will also
feature a pre-conference day of Tutorials and Workshops, and a
post-conference Developers Day. The conference program will not only
include a strong refereed technical program, but a variety of plenary and
panel presentations to stimulate delegates' thinking about the web and its
uses. The ever-popular W3C track will provide conference attendees with a
great opportunity to catch up on the latest web standards and initiatives.
At this time we would like to invite you to consider active participation
in WWW2002. The conference web site has up-to-date information at:
http://www2002.org
The detailed Call for Participation is available there, with information
about preparing a paper or poster or proposing a panel, tutorial, workshop
or developers day activity. Paper submittals will be due November 13,
2001.
We are also seeking sponsors for the overall conference as well as
specific WWW2002 items and activities. Detailed information regarding the
WWW2002 sponsorship program is available on the web page.
Even if you don't plan to participate actively, it's not too soon to mark
your calendars to attend WWW2002 May 7-11 in Hawaii. See you here then!
David Lassner
University of Hawaii
WWW2002 Conference Chair
**************************************************************************
The WWW2002-Announce mailing list is used to notify all interested
individuals or groups of the latest information on the upcoming Eleventh
International World Wide Web Conference, WWW2002, formerly referred to as
WWW11. This email list will be used to send you updates and periodic
reminders about the WWW2002 conference that will be held in Honolulu,
Hawaii, USA on May 7-11, 2002.
To unsubscribe from this list, send an email message to:

CALL FOR PAPERS
Information Systems Journal
E-commerce Enabled Manufacturing Operations: Issues and Analysis
The management of materials, information, and other resources in
organizations has expanded beyond the role of typical operations managers.
Along with the breakdown of internal and external organizational boundaries
has come the more open environment that may envelop organizational
boundaries. Practitioners and managers throughout the world have realized
the enormity and importance of these inter-organizational systems. Central
to the development of these systems are concepts, technologies, and tools
for electronic commerce. These issues are of critical importance to large,
medium, and small-sized manufacturing firms.
E-commerce encourages and supports communication and cooperation among
various functions, vendors, and customers of organizations. Evolving
e-commerce paradigms and practices are expected to be central enablers to
operations and manufacturing concepts such as concurrent engineering, design
for "x", supply chain management, computer integrated manufacturing, agile
and virtual enterprising. Thus, its importance is strategically vital to
organizations that wish to remain competitive. Practitioners have realized
this importance by spending billions in e-commerce-enabled systems and
practices, and supporting processes. Yet, researchers have been slow to
critically investigate their roles, especially with respect to manufacturing
organizations. Thus, we have decided to help expand the field of knowledge
in this area by offering this special issue of the Information Systems
Journal.
Papers are sought for a special issue, "E-commerce Enabled Manufacturing
Operations: Issues and Analysis". Conceptual and strategic frameworks,
empirical research, case studies, and analytical models focusing on
development, design, management and control of e-commerce-enabled
manufacturing and operations systems for improving organizational
competitiveness are especially encouraged. Contributed papers may deal with,
but are not limited to:
* Planning for E-commerce in Manufacturing and Operations settings
-Organizational strategy, justification, and project management
-Models and tools to integrate and incorporate e-commerce within strategic
directions
-Applications of tools through case studies
-Project management models (e-commerce linkages with internal systems)
-Enterprise Resource Planning Systems
-Web based enterprise integration and management
* Design and Analysis of E-commerce based Manufacturing systems.
-Performance of E-commerce enabled Manufacturing and Operations systems
-Decision Tools and approaches for systems development
-Integration of e-commerce with existing and new operations business
processes and policies
-Architectures and Systems Models integrating manufacturing and
operations with E-
Commerce
* Operations of E-commerce systems
-Capacity and logistics planning and management
-Materials management in an E-commerce setting
-Scheduling in an E-commerce setting
-Supply Chain management within an E-commerce setting
-Shop floor operations
-Virtual facility layout
* Monitoring and Control of E-commerce systems
-Performance evaluation tools and techniques for E-commerce based operations
systems
-Decision support and expert systems and their development for the
E-commerce enabled
manufacturing setting
-Cost Management and Product Pricing for E-commerce Enabled Systems
Papers will be evaluated on their contribution, suitability to the special
issue, and overall quality. Authors should closely follow the guidelines
under "Instructions to Authors" of the Information Systems Journal. Please
visit the homepage of the journal for further information:
http://www.blacksci.co.uk/~cgilib/jnlpage.bin?Journal=isj&File=isj&Page=aims
. Manuscripts will be strictly refereed based on the standards of the
Information Systems Journal. Four copies of the manuscript should be mailed
to one of the following guest editors by January 31, 2002.
Publication Schedule:
Deadline for submitting manuscripts: December 31, 2001
Review reports on the submitted papers: April 28, 2002
