International Journal of Project Management
Special Issue On
Knowledge management in Project Environments
Knowledge is a vital resource in project based industries such as aerospace,
construction, shipbuilding and software. If managed effectively, knowledge
can be used to reduce project time, cost and improve quality and therefore
contribute to project success. However, the management of intellectual
assets (physical, financial, human and intellectual) is a new and
challenging process for project-based industries. With this in mind, papers
are sought for a special issue on Knowledge Management in Project
Environments for the International Journal of Project Management. Strategic
frameworks, conceptual, and analytical models, surveys and case studies
focusing on how knowledge (especially tacit knowledge) can be managed in
projects are encouraged from both academics and practitioners. Contributed
papers may deal with, but are not limited to:
· Developing an appropriate culture and communication strategy;
· Integrating learning and knowledge infrastructure;
· Knowledge management and the learning organization;
· Mechanics and implications of knowledge sharing, capture and transfer
· Information organization and retrieval technologies for improving the
quality of knowledge;
· Linking knowledge management to performance initiatives;
· Retaining knowledge - human and intellectual capital;
· Knowledge management and innovation;
· Knowledge-based management systems;
· Technologies for intra-and-inter organisational collaboration and
knowledge sharing; and
· Applications in project knowledge management systems.
Research surveys and application papers in the above areas are also welcome.
Manuscripts should not exceed 25 double-spaced pages including figures and
illustrations. All contributions are subjected to a rigorous double-blind
review
process.
There should be a separate title page giving the names and addresses of the
authors and any other references that reveal the identity of the authors
should
be removed. Your manuscript should following the standard guidelines for the
International Journal of Project Management, which can be found out
(http://www.elsevier.nl/inca/publications/store/3/0/4/3/5/). Electronic paper
submissions are encouraged and should be submitted to one of the guest
co-editors by April 20th, 2002.

Subject: 2nd Call For Papers : Business Process Outsourcing & Application Service Provision
Date: Wed, 31 Oct 2001 08:01:11 +0000

Business Process Management Journal
Call for Papers for A Special Issue On
Business Process Outsourcing
and Application Service Provision
In the 1980s and 1990s the success of Information Technology Outsourcing
has been dependent on effective management of business processes. Companies
who were able to manage and transform their business processes whilst
outsourcing non-core processes were able to make significant efficiency
gains. In recent years however, the issue of business processes management
has returned to center stage, most notably with new process management
challenges arising from the boundary-less e-economy. Now third
wave Application Outsourcing offers the potential for core business
processes or even mission-critical applications to be managed by a third
party. Application Service Providers (ASPs) can offer what they refer to as
Full Service Provision which in effect provides a firm with the
opportunity to outsource almost everything it does.
Papers are invited for a special edition of the Business Process Management
Journal (BPMJ) on Business Process Outsourcing and Application Service
Provision. The aim is to publish high quality original work highlighting
contemporary issues surrounding the emerging application service provision
(ASP) industry. Business process management, particularly with respect to
application and process integration appears to be a major area that will
impact upon the success or failure of this new business model. Contributed
papers may deal with, but are not limited to:
· ASP process management.
· Business Process Outsourcing.
· ASP Evaluation.
· ASP application integration.
· Business Service Platforms.
· Process Integration
· ASPs and Strategic Alliances/Partnerships.
· Managed Service Provision.
· Full Service Provision.
· Intra-organisational BP management using an ASP.
· ERP Outsourcing.
Full papers should be 3000-5000 words in length, single-spaced, full
justified, and in A4 Word format submitted electronically to the guest
editors Phil Seltsikas (phil.Seltsikas(a)brunel.ac.uk) and Wendy Currie
(wendy.currie(a)brunel.ac.uk) by December 28th 2001. All contributions will
be subjected to a rigorous blind review by at least two experts. Full
papers, following the BPMJ <http://www.emeraldinsight.com/bpmj.htm>
guidelines, should be submitted as two Word file attachments. File 1 -
contains a title page giving the name(s) and full address(es) of the
author(s), the title of the paper, its word count (maximum 5000 words), 5
keywords, and an abstract of 200 words. File 2 - contains the title of the
paper, 5 keywords, a 200-word abstract, and the full body of the paper. Any
information that reveals the identity of the author(s) should be removed.
