SESSION DESCRIPTION:
Most governments are currently engaged in ambitious, tight-scheduled
e-government Electronic Public Service Delivery initiatives. The goal of
these e-government initiatives is to provide the business community and
citizens with an efficient and effective public service. However, there are
fewer requirements engineering challenges to both public sector
organizations, governments and the software engineering community than those
posed by this worldwide introduction of e-government public service delivery
systems. The e-service delivery challenges for e-government are profound.
Citizens and business organizations that need to deal with the government
should have a choice of channels for accessing government services. Private
and voluntary sector organizations should be able to access both the central
and local government information in order to deliver their services to the
citizens. The mobility of the citizens over a wide geographical range raises
new essential system an! !
d user requirements for the e-government EPSD system. To meet the challenges
posed by these systems, new and efficient requirements engineering methods,
processes, and techniques that are suitable for developing
government-to-citizen (G2C), government-to-business (G2B) and
government-to-government (G2G) systems are required. This session is seeking
for thought-provoking presentations and revealing case studies that intend
to break new ground in understanding the requirements engineering challenges
and issues that will lead to latest thinking and practical steps in
developing 'joined-up' e-government electronic public service delivery
systems both regionally and internationally.
RECOMMENDED TOPICS :
Papers (completed or in-progress: no more than 10 pages) and extended
abstracts (completed or in-progress research: about 5 pages) dealing with
(but not limited to) the following topics are invited. Please mention the
name of this session on the cover page:
Topics include, but are not limited to:

More than 1,000 proposals for the SITE 2002 (Society for Information
Technology & Teacher Education)
International Conference were received by the original deadline of Oct.
29th. This demonstration of the
support and high value participants hold for the SITE Conference series is
much appreciated!
Although this is an excellent number of submissions, the SITE Conference
Committee recognizes that
extraordinary world events and resulting stress have caused several people
to miss the submission deadline.
Therefore, SITE with AACE will extend the SITE 2002 submission deadline to
Nov. 20 in an interest to ease at
least this one stress for its members and all others interested in
participating in this high quality international conference.
These later submissions are limited to Short Papers and Poster/Demos, and
the proposals must be submitted
in the proper format for publication in the Proceedings; if accepted your
submission will serve as the Proceedings version.
Notification after review will be by December 10th.
We urge you to submit as soon as possible because as proposals are received
they will be sent for review.
This also will ease the workload for the Program Committee/reviewers.
However, we hope that the additional
proposal preparation time will not only give you adequate time to submit
but also better enable you to improve your proposal.
An excellent international SITE 2002 conference, with a highlighted PT3
topic strand, is being planned in Tennessee
in collaboration with Vanderbilt University. The SITE conference website
provides details and updates on the conference at
www.aace.org/conf/site/
To keep you informed, you will receive regular updates on the keynotes,
panels, special sessions,

Tagung statt. Am 7. November gibt es wieder ein
informelles Vortreffen zum Networken und
Kennenlernen in einem Frankfurter Szene-
Restaurant. In zwei Workshops am 9. November besteht
die Möglichkeit, in zwei Workshops das Thema noch
einmal vertieft zu diskutieren.
Der Management- Professor Paul Zipken warnte kürzlich
in einem Artikel für die Sloan Management Review:
"To give customers exactly what they want, you first have
to learn what that is. It sounds simple, but it's not."
Auf der diesjährigen Tagung sollen deshalb neben Potentialen,
Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten und Prinzipien von Mass
Customization (http://www.mass-customization.de)
auch die Bedingungen und Grenzen ihrer erfolgreichen
Anwendung realistisch diskutiert werden.
Aus dem Inhalt der Vorträge:
Mythen und Chancen der Mass Customization:
* Einführungsvortrag von Dr. Frank Piller,
TU München
* Einführungsvortrag von Ralph Seelmann-Eggebert,
Fraunhofer Institut IFF
Geschäftsmodelle, Anwenderstories und
Herausforderungen beleuchten:
* "Mass Customization aus Sicht eines First
Mover", von Alexander Knoff, Geschäftsführer von
xaaaz.de, einem Online-customization-Store

Holger Seyfarth, SoVital Life & Nutri Science
GmbH, einen Pionier von individuellen
Vitaminpillen aus dem Internet
* "Von einem Businessmodell zu einer
Demonstrationsanlage", Edwin Kreiß, Schott
Zwiesel, über individuelle Gläser in Mini-Fabriken
für die Prozeßindustrie
* "Gussformen digitalisiert - Mass Customization
in der Keramikindustrie", Georg Wiegang,
Keramische Werke Haldensleben, ebenfalls eine sehr
interessante Story, wie aus einen typischen
Massenprodukt eine individuelle Lösung werden
kann.
Tools und Strategien rund um Mass Customization
diskutieren:
* "Mass Customization - eine Wettbewerbsstrategie
setzt sich durch", Peter Cordes, A.T. Kearney
* "Maßfertigung in der Bekleidungsindustrie",
Karin Schiller, Lectra Sytèmes
* "Produktvisualisierung und Interaktions-Konzepte
für Mass Customization", Philipp Ackermann,
vorstand der Perspectix AG aus Zürich.
Optionale Workshops am 9. Nov. 2001
(1) Mass Customization erleben in einem Planspiel
Versetzen Sie sich in die Welt Ihres zukünftigen
MC-Unternehmens. Anhand des eigens entwickelten

----------------
The Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference is the primary
annual event addressing issues related to the design, management and
evolution of enterprise systems and in particular the theories, best
practices and technologies in Business Engineering and Distributed
Systems Engineering. EDOC 2002 is the latest in the successful series
of conferences, which since 1997 has brought together leading
researchers and industry experts to discuss problems, solutions, and
experiences in meeting current and future enterprise distributed
computing needs.
The introduction of enterprise business and information systems still
poses significant organisational, technical and engineering
challenges. Enterprise systems must increasingly support
inter-organisational collaborations that integrate business processes
while satisfying the flexibility and security requirements of each
business partner. The requirement for loosely coupled, event-driven
enterprise applications both within and between enterprises is
becoming increasingly apparent. Novel solutions, such as the OMG's
Model Driven Architecture(TM), are needed for a closer integration of
software systems with organisational goals, policies and procedures.
These solutions also cater for managing the deployment, evolution, and
re-engineering of enterprise components and services. However,
improved tools and techniques are required for the co-ordination and
integration of distributed software as well as the development of
services that support mobility of users, devices and applications.
Although the growing maturity of distributed object and component
technologies provides a solid foundation for enterprise software
development, major issues remain to be addressed.
The conference will include a high-quality technical program,
tutorials, invited speakers and panel discussions. EDOC 2002
encourages submissions from practitioners on case studies, experience
reports and applications in distributed object computing, as well as
submissions on novel research and engineering achievements.
Technical Program
-----------------
EDOC 2002 invites contributions on all aspects of distributed object
and component /service based enterprise computing. Papers must describe
original work and must not have been accepted or submitted for
publication elsewhere. Submitted papers will be evaluated for technical
contribution, originality, and significance. Major topics of interest
include, but are not limited to:
* System modelling techniques and tools (e.g. Model Driven
Architecture(TM), meta-modelling, platform-dependent and independent
models, mappings between models, generation of systems from
models, information repositories, meta-object facility.)
* Enterprise modelling techniques and standards (e.g. specification and
implementation of business processes, rules and policies, EDOC profile
for UML, role modelling.)
* Web-services and component-based application development and
operation for enterprise systems.
* Enterprise services and infrastructure support (e.g. service
discovery, auto-configuration, messaging systems, security
policies, workflow management, enterprise-level uses of, and
enhancements to execution platforms such as J2EE or .NET.)
* Technologies for inter-enterprise co-operation and integration
(e.g. business to business interactions, supply-chain
management. )and customer-enterprise co-operation (e.g. customer
relationship management.)
* Enterprise frameworks and technologies for the electronic
marketplace (e.g. ebXML, BizTalk, e-speak.)
* Models, case studies and experience reports on vertical applications
(e.g. OMG s domain task forces, financial applications.)
* Implementation and architecture issues of enterprise systems.
* Integration of mobile devices into enterprise systems.
Paper Submissions: Papers should not exceed 12 pages in the IEEE
format. Please consult the IEEE author guidelines for details
(http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm).
Submissions should be made electronically in PDF (preferred) or
PostScript format. All paper submissions will be carefully reviewed by
at least 3 international experts and comments will be returned to
author(s) with each review. Presented papers will be included in the
Conference Proceedings, published by the IEEE CS Press.
The paper submission process has two separate stages. First you will
have to submit the details of the paper (title, authors, keywords,
abstract). At the paper submission deadline, you will have to submit
the electronic version of your paper.
Tutorial Proposals Tutorial proposals should be submitted to the
program co-chair Keith Duddy (dud(a)dstc.edu.au ) and should include the
tutorial title, the names and a brief biography for each presenter
(approximately half page) and a summary of the tutorial contents
(approximately 1-2 pages i.e. 500-1000 words). If the tutorial or an
earlier version of it has been given before please indicate the events
and dates.
