Mini-track description: Agile organizations are able to sense market discontinuities and respond to significant shifts in core technical knowledge. The primacy of organizational agility to IT management practice and scholarly work is reflected in dynamic capabilities, information processing, and other theoretical frameworks. As incumbent and new organizations seek to become more agile, a poorly understood question pertains to the interface between sensing and responding. There is likely a time delay between sensing and responding and a tension underlying the use of scarce resources such as IT. While sense and response capabilities are a feature of agile organizations, the presence of these capabilities does not answer the question of how long it takes for a firm to sense and respond to new market threats or opportunities. When should IT managers plan and when should they adopt a more dynamic, adaptive approach to IT-related decisions? So far, empirical research on decision-making agility remains scarce. This mini-track welcomes both conceptual and empirical submissions using novel theories and different methods that explore pressing issues around decision-making agility and adaptation to market change. Computational social science research has garnered much interest from multiple disciplines through the use of massive, multi-faceted, and authentic data. A recent trend in understanding social phenomena using computational social science research, especially through the use of analytics has led to many discoveries of, and confirmation of hypotheses and theories. The interdisciplinary nature of computational social science research is suitable for our field, for Information Systems has the ability to demonstrate both rigor and relevance of answering social science questions through innovative use of data analytics. As a discipline, Information Systems enable the collection, processing, and analyzing trace data, which are event-based records of activities of transactions that could be found in systems across organizations and the Internet. Therefore, our field are poised to explicate interesting and valuable insights. Thanks to the implosion in data analytics tools such as data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence, researchers have the ability to augment understanding of existing problems and elucidate current perplexing issues. Large-scale problems are no longer a hard-to-reach problem, but an interesting one with a plethora of research directions. In general, the guideline for computational research has percolated through various disciplines via leading research outlets like Nature, Information Systems Research, Management Information Systems Quarterly, and Communications of the ACM have started to solicit calls in this nascent research field to attract more researchers to work on interesting problems and theory building from data. This minitrack encourages research on the utilization of data to explore, and potentially answer social phenomena. Submissions may focus on descriptive research process, novel algorithm designs, questions forming, new and interesting directions in computational social science. In addition, nascent theory forming through a bottom up approach using data is especially encouraged. Research in any domains are welcome, including but not pertaining only to, persuasion, ethics, equality, social benefit distribution, and humanitarian efforts. This minitrack aims to explore how the use of new epistemic technologies in organizations influence key aspects of organizing, including processes of information processing, insight generation, decision making, organizational structuring, and strategizing. We define epistemic technologies as tools that play a key part in the ongoing construction of knowledge (Anthony 2018). Such technologies include, for example, big data analytics tools, Artificial Intelligence tools, augmented reality applications, and technologies that leverage the Internet of Things (IoT). The reliance of these new epistemic technologies on data and algorithms poses unique challenges for organizations and has given rise to several debates in the academic community (Günther et al. 2017). The emergence of new epistemic technologies calls for a better understanding of distinct digital practices that are enacted as organizations actually leverage such technologies in practice (Baiyere et al. 2017), as well as how this may or may not allow organizations to actually create social and economic value (Sumbal et al. 2019). To understand how organizations may leverage such technologies requires examinations of the processes around the information value chain (Abbasi et al. 2016) as they take place in organizational context. The minitrack is open to any methodology that suitably examines the phenomenon including quantitative, qualitative as well as conceptual papers. We highly value work that takes a longitudinal perspective and aims to understand how organizations, and people, actually work with epistemic technologies in practice. In doing so, scholars may rely on different types of data and a range of (mixed) methods, such as qualitative observations, document content analysis, and advanced analytical techniques to model and understand people's actions and behavior. Emphasis will be placed on interdisciplinary studies that bridge the domains of organizational theory and information systems as well as information sciences. One of the first results of the AI-HLEG has been to deliver ethics guidelines on Artificial Intelligence (https://ec.europa.eu/futurium/en/ai-alliance-consultation/guidelines). These guidelines put forward a human-centered approach to AI, and list seven key requirements that human-centered, trustworthy AI systems should meet, summarized by the following headers: 1. Human agency and oversight 2. Technical robustness and safety 3. Privacy and data governance 4. Transparency 5. Diversity, non-discrimination and fairness 6. Societal and environmental wellbeing 7. Accountability Many of today's most popular AI methods, however, fail to meet these guidelines: making them compliant is a scientific endeavor that is as crucial as it is challenging and stimulating. Systems based on deep learning are a case in point: while these systems often provide impressive results, their ability to _explain_ these results to the user is very limited, challenging requirements 4 and 7; in most cases we lack ways to formally _verify_ their correctness and assess their boundary conditions, challenging requirement 2; and we don't yet have methods to allow humans to _collaboratively_ influence or question their decisions, challenging requirement 1. Similar criticalities are present in many other popular AI methods. This full day workshop will collectively address the fundamental questions of what are the scientific and technological gaps that we have to fill in order to make AI systems _human-centered_ in terms of the above guidelines. PAPER SUBMISSION ---------------- Contributions are seeked on new foundations for building Human-Centered AI systems, able to comply with AI-HLEG recommendations. Contributions are seeked in the form of full papers (max 7 pages plus references) presenting mature results, or position papers and reports of relevant ongoing work (max 4 pages including references). More specific topics include, but are not limited to: - Explainable AI - Verifiable AI - Technical robustness and safety of AI systems - Collaboration between humans and AI systems - Integrating model-based and data-driven AI - Integrating symbolic- and sub-symbolic AI - Mixed initiative AI-Human systems - Proactive AI systems in human environments - Understanding and naturally interacting with humans - Understanding and interaction in complex social settings - Reflexivity and expectation managament - Integrating Learning, Reasoning and Acting in AI systems - Integrating human and robot cognition Papers should be formatted according to the ECAI2020 formatting style, available at the ECAI2020 website (ecai2020.eu).
