Subject: [AISWorld] AMCIS 2020 CFPs: Business Simulations in Higher
Education minitrack
Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2020 08:43:22 +0000
From: Anabela Mesquita <abmesquita(a)gmail.com>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org
Greetings Colleagues,
Please consider submitting a manuscript to the Business Simulations in
Higher Education minitrack ( # 3 under IS in Education, Curriculum,
Education, and Teaching Cases (SIGED)).
More and more, the world of work is demanding soft skills as a requisite
to enter the job market. As a consequence, HEI are introducing changes
in the pedagogical approaches and teaching methods in order to meet
these needs and expectations. One solution includes the incorporation of
Business Simulation methodologies in the most diverse courses, at all
educational levels. These types of solutions enable students to develop
important skills, together with practical knowledge. This mini-track
provides an opportunity for educators, researchers, students and
practitioners to exchange ideas, techniques, and experiences concerning
the use of these techniques as a way to acquire practical knowledge and
develop soft skills. Different submission topics and formats are
welcome, ranging from papers describing games and simulations, to papers
presenting technological solutions and even the description of the use
of such a solution in higher education.
Nowadays, the development of soft skills is considered as important as
the more technical and theoretical knowledge in order to become
employable and competitive. Employers are looking for professionals that
possess practical knowledge and understand clearly the business where
they are entering in. One possible solution to help students to develop
those capabilities is by the use of business simulations as these
simulate the real situation, where the student potentially might enroll,
helping key actors to feel and learn as if they were in the world of
work. This mini-track is an opportunity for educators, researchers,
students, and practitioners to share and exchange ideas, techniques, and
experiences regarding business simulation, its development, application
and pedagogical approaches.
Suggested topics related to Business Simulation:
Games and business simulation in education
Virtual learning environments
Available solutions and technologies for business simulation
Pedagogical and methodological issues in the use of business simulations
Assessment of the learning outcomes in the use of Business Simulations
Case Studies in the Effectiveness of Business Simulations in IS Education

_____________________________________________
The FinTOC’2 shared task aims to bring together the community of
researchers interested in Financial Document Processing and Document Layout
Analysis to advance the state of the art in the automatic processing of
financial documents. This task focuses on the automatic generation of
reports' Table Of Contents (henceforth TOC), as it is a key building block
in the semantic analysis of financial documents. Generating the TOC
requires detecting the span of all document sections and subsections,
identifying their titles, and organising them into a hierarchy. It is a
well-known fact that extracting document structure is a key step in
information processing. For example sections can be used to determine areas
where algorithms can be applied, such as Information Extraction, thus
reducing false positives rate and irrelevant noise.
This is the second edition of the FinTOC shared task which will be held at
COLING 2020 in Barcelona (Spain) as part of the FNP-FNS 2020 workshop. Last
year’s edition received significant interest, particularly on the Title
Detection track. Our aim this year is to increase interest by:
- lowering the barriers to the entry to the TOC extraction track, and
- opening up the task to a new language: French. We are particularly
interested in systems which can be applied to both English and French
languages.
This second edition proposes two tracks: one track per language, and it
will score systems on both Title detection and TOC generation performance.
We have revised the task and greatly simplified data formats to make it as
smooth as possible for every interested researcher to participate and
submit their systems’ outputs at FinTOC’2.
Each of the participating teams will be asked to submit a short paper
describing their methods and solutions to be presented at the workshop.
_____________________________________________
To register your interest in participating in FinTOC’2 shared task please
use the following google form by no later than April 6th, 2020:
https://forms.gle/LFsVaw6DqYikhKHx9
Soon after, you will receive a link to download the training data.

Minitrack *Digital Transformation through Agile Methods*
Track *Organisational Transformation & Information Systems (SIGOSRA)*
Description:
Many of today’s organizations see agility as a core capability of the
digital enterprise. While following agile values, principles and methods
in software development projects is well established, organizations
across all industries increasingly try to harness agile’s potential in
other areas.
Areas include (1) scaling agile development to larger settings involving
multiple teams and/or projects, (2) managing distributed organizational
setups, (3) extending agile values, principles and methods to other
functions in the enterprise beyond software development and IT, and (4)
establishing inter-organizational setups for agility that include
customers, partners or suppliers. These extensions lead to intensive
organizational change activities with a high impact on potentially all
organizational levels: individual, team, management and governance.
For this minitrack, we seek to attract research contributions that
extend existing research by focusing on socio-technical, organizational,
managerial and/ or individual challenges of extending the application of
agile values, principles and methods beyond their original scope.
We welcome conceptual, empirical, and design-oriented contributions for
this mini-track. Papers must be submitted through the conference

All dates are defined as end of day anywhere on earth.
Second International Workshop on Agile Transformation (ATRANS)
Given the prevalence of and success with Agile in software development,
companies are embarking on a process called ?Agile transformation? within
IT functions, business units, or whole organizations. The First Workshop
on Agile Transformation (ATRANS 2019) took place at XP 2019 and was the
culmination of a week in which Agile transformation was identified as an
increasingly relevant topic of research. During the workshop, the top three
success factors for Agile transformation emerged as: ?changing
organizational culture?, ?leadership? and ?engaging people?. Building on
this work, and for this second instantiation of ATRANS, we challenge the
scientific community to examine Agile transformation across IT functions,
business units, or whole organisations, focusing in particular on the
aspects of culture, leadership, people, and sustainability. We welcome both
academic research and industry experience papers and will provide an
interactive arena for knowledge sharing and exchange of experiences between
academics and practitioners.
The goal of the workshop is to share research on Agile transformation,
in particular in the areas of culture, leadership and people. We are
particularity interested in re-examining the transformation process and
identifying key factors which enable or inhibit Agile transformations.
Throughout the workshop, we will learn about practitioner experience and
academic research.
Topics of Interest
The topics of interest to this year?s ATRANS include, but are not
restricted to, the following:
- Organizational agility
- Culture, leadership, and people
- Sustaining Agile practices during and beyond transformation
- Enablers, impediments, and balancing conflicting demands
- The rationale for initiating Agile transformation
- Defining and measuring success of Agile transformation
- Coordinating stakeholders
- Tools and technologies
- Evaluation
Submissions will be first screened on rigor and relevance and then
evaluated by members of the program committee based on soundness,
significance, novelty, verifiability, and presentation quality.
Guidelines
All submissions must conform to the LNBIP formatting and submission
instructions. See the instructions for authors here. There are two
categories of papers:
Experience from practice paper: Max 4 pages sharing experiences on
agile transformation
Research paper: Max 7 pages sharing research developments on agile
transformation (included in conference proceedings)
Both types of papers will be published in the post-conference
proceedings, which will be archived by Springer (open access).
By submitting to the ATRANS Workshop, authors acknowledge that they are
aware of and agree that papers submitted must not have been published
elsewhere and must not be under review or submitted for review
elsewhere while under consideration for the ATRANS Workshop.
Papers must be submitted electronically via EasyChair by March 17, 2020.
