1st Workshop on Trust and Privacy in Process Analytics (TPPA)
organized at the International Conference on Process Mining (ICPM)
5 October 2020, Padua
https://tppa-workshop.github.io/2020/
-------------------------------------
Workshop description:
Process mining has been successfully applied in analyzing and
improving processes based on event logs in all kinds of environments.
However, the impact of trust and privacy on the technical design as well
as the organizational application of process mining has been largely
neglected.
Both topics are closely related to the responsible application of data
science,
a topic that has gotten more attention in recent years as data-driven
methods
start to permeate our society.
Privacy relates to the concern that event logs may contain personal data of
both customers and employees and the challenge of protecting the
information
about individuals while still being useful for process mining
(e.g., differential privacy, k-anonymity, homomorphic encryption,
secure multi-party computing). Often, security aspects (e.g., encryption)
are closely connected when processing personal data cannot be avoided.
On the other hand, the workshop is about the concept of trust, which is
required both from the perspective of trust in organisational and
technological measures that event logs are not misused (e.g., for worker
surveillance) as well as from the perspective of trust that the results
of a process mining analysis faithfully reflect reality (e.g., data
quality, traceability, auditibility).
The main objective of the TPPA workshop is to give a forum for the trust
and
privacy aspects and responsible application of process mining. Privacy and
trust are important perspectives on process mining as it gets more widely
used in organizations worldwide. We invite researchers and industry to
share
their research, ideas, experiences, and concerns in this area. The
topics of
interest for tis workshop, but not limited to, are provided below.
----------------------
Workshop topics:
- Privacy-preserving methods for Process Analytics (Process Mining, Data
Mining, Machine Learning)
- Privacy-preserving Methods for Business Process Management

- Privacy and Trust in Organizational Data Collection
- Analysis of GDPR Compliance with Process Analytics
- Methods and Techniques for Privacy and Trust Management in Process Mining
- Responsible Process Analytics

Subject: [AISWorld] Call for Book Chapters on Intelligent Technologies
for Internet of Vehicles
Date: Fri, 14 Feb 2020 10:57:46 +0000
From: Naercio Magaia <ndmagaia(a)fc.ul.pt>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Call for Book Chapters for the Springer-Verlag Handbook:
"Intelligent Technologies for Internet of Vehicles"
Series on Internet of Things - Technologies, Communications and Computing
(covered by Scopus)
Editors:
* Naercio Magaia, University of Lisbon, Portugal
* George Mastorakis, Hellenic Mediterranean University, Greece
* Constandinos X. Mavromoustakis, University of Nicosia, Cyprus
* Evangelos Pallis, Hellenic Mediterranean University, Greece
* Evangelos K. Markakis, Hellenic Mediterranean University, Greece
Internet-of-things (IoT) has appeared as a novel and ground-breaking
technology aiming to provide Internet connectivity to every device that
have computation, communication and storage capability. Numerous
applications such as smart health, smart cities, smart industries, and
smart homes are a result of this phenomenon of connecting smart devices
with the Internet. In order to provide secure and safe transportation,
IoT has evolved into a novel concept, also known as the Internet of
Vehicles (IoV) where smart vehicles equipped with computing,
communicating and storing capabilities communicate with each other and
with surrounding infrastructure via vehicle-to-everything (V2X)
communications. The latter enabled the exchange of critical information
among smart vehicles including sudden lane changes, steep-curves, black
ice warnings, and traffic accidents avoidance, therefore assisting the
drivers in extreme and difficult situations. IoV has an enormous
potential to provide secure and sa
fer transportation as it enables the vehicles to take correct decision
in a timely manner. In addition, IoV will also have intelligence and
learning capabilities to anticipate the vehicular users' intentions.
Cloud-based IoV mechanisms provide several essential services from
routing to content search, spectrum sharing, dissemination, attack
protection, etc. However, IoV-based objects produce a vast volume of
information frequently called as Big Data, which cannot be easily
processed by traditional algorithms and schemes. Future smart
environments will enable efficient handling and processing of Big Data
that is generated by the associated objects for an effective
communication and co-operation among them.
In addition, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play a crucial role in
such environments, enabling for smarter services, applications, business
processes and social interaction among the IoV objects. In this respect,
a great potential exists for advanced technological solutions combined
with AI and IoV-enabled capabilities. AI mechanisms applied in IoV
environments can be exploited in smart cities to analyze drivers'
actions via data gathered and/or exchanged by enabled V2X vehicles'
Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and microcontrollers. AI will play a
significant role in future IoV applications and infrastructures, by
providing insights from collected data. This capability will enable the
identification of patterns and will allow operational predictions with
higher accuracy in small time periods. AI applications for smart
vehicles will also enable businesses to develop new products, reduce
possible risks and increase efficiency during the production time, by
predicting failures that are
usually non-detectable by humans.
The future of the implementation of AI-powered IoV infrastructures
depends on the effective solutions to a number of technical challenges
that such paradigms introduce. These challenges include intelligent
sensor capabilities improvement and integration, smart Big Data
analytics, automated remote data management, as well as open and secure
composition of processes, which may be implemented into emerging
AI-enabled IoV scenarios. Some initiatives try to incorporate Artificial
Intelligence schemes in IoV environments, but new frameworks have to be
defined. In fact, the approach of IoV is to find the potential benefits
of AI, in order to build extensive ecosystems, for increasing the number
of automated services and their value. This Book aims to gather recent
research works in emerging Artificial Intelligence methods for
processing and storing the data generated from cloud-based Internet of
Vehicles infrastructures. In this context, the major subjects of the
proposed book will cover th
e analysis and the development of AI-powered mechanisms in future IoV
applications and architectures.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
* Emerging trends of AI and IoV
* Architectures and systems for AI and IoV convergence
* IoV with Machine Learning technologies
* IoV with deep learning schemes
* AI-enabled IoV applications and systems
* Performance evaluation of Deep Learning and IoV-related mechanisms
* Social computing and Intelligent IoV
* Blockchain-oriented IoV schemes and related topics
* Artificial immune systems and IoV
* Algorithm optimization for intelligent IoV applications
* Intelligent Big Data analytics

User-generated content (UGC) has been widely utilized in the cross-cultural
context with the globalization of online platform portals. For this special
issue, we define UGC as what consumers post online including consumer
product reviews at sites like Amazon and Yelp, posts on social media such
as Facebook and Twitter, blogs, pictures, and images found in the online
environment. The diversity of global consumers’ cultural backgrounds both
enriches the utility of UGC on multi-national social media platforms and
increases the complexity of platform competition strategy (Alt &
Zimmermann, 2019). While some studies reported cross-cultural created
differences in ethnic restaurant reviews (Chik et al., 2016; Nakayama &
Wan, 2019b), we are still in the early stage of understanding how
cross-cultural influences are transpiring on the broader spectrum of UGC,
such as how to channel their influence as a differential factor into
service or product recommendation and customization in platform
competition. Thus, empirical investigations are needed to explore
innovative methods and frameworks on the cultural data analytics of UGC as
well as on the integration of cultural factors into platform competition
strategies. In this special issue, we encourage submissions that apply a
cross-disciplinary perspective beyond the extant national culture
frameworks, such as Hofstede (Hofstede, 1980; Minkov & Hofstede, 2012) and
intercultural communication (Gudykunst, 2005).
Central issue and Themes
Today, global social media platforms such as Facebook and Yelp are
accessible not only via PC and smartphone but also via automobiles and an
increasing number of IoT devices. Such platforms constantly collect and
analyze UGC, then interpret them into recommendation or customized products
and services back into the platform. Though this process has been
replicated across the globe in different languages by ecommerce portals,
they are more or less applying the same algorithms and standard practices
across platforms. However, consumers from different countries are not a
monolithic group. Their cultural backgrounds heavily influence their
preferences, usage, and evaluation of products and services. Globally
standardized recommendation and customization algorithms without
incorporating culture elements could contribute or directly lead to
strategic failures, such as the exit of the Chinese market by Amazon (Liao,
2019). Meanwhile, recent studies found consumers with different cultural
backgrounds place different emphases on food quality, waiter service,
ambiance, and price fairness in their reviews (Nakayama & Wan, 2018,
2019a). In other words, comparable Yelp five-star sushi restaurants in
Tokyo and New York could be different because Japanese and US reviewers
have different emphasis on evaluation attributes. Failure to account for
cross-cultural differences on the provided ratings may also distort the
information content of UGC for firms and customers (Stamolampros et al.,
2019).
Today’s economy is driven strongly by optimizing the product mix to the
target consumer profiles on a global scale. When cultural factors influence
the consumer in the evaluation of products and services, we should expect
such influence being properly utilized, presented, and informed to other
consumers through recommendation systems, widgets on social media outlets,
and review websites. With the big data analytical methods being
systematically used in the cross-cultural perspective of UGC to help
analyze such influence (Akter & Wamba, 2016), we expect future studies
would not only identify cultural influence but also measure them
quantitatively. We encourage submissions that apply a cross-disciplinary
perspective on the cultural impact of UGC with topics such as:
• Theoretical frameworks to analyze national culture influence on UGC
• Cultural induced textual/sentimental characteristics of UGC
• Sentiment analyses of UGC across national, regional or ethnic cultures
• Cross-cultural analyses of UGC for subjective goods such as hospitality
products and services
• Diversity of UGC reactions and consumers’ cultural background
• Review summarization strategy considering cultural variations of UGC
• Adaption strategy of UGC across national, regional or ethnic cultures
into platform competition
• Biases in social media due to national, regional or ethnic cultures
• Review of national, regional or ethnic cultural impact on UGC
• Algorithm design in digital platforms considering cultural factors
• Culture in designing recommendation and review systems
• Management of platform content and functionalities in different cultures
• Analyses of the competitive impact of cultural issues in digital platforms
• Cross-cultural differences on the effect of UGC on corporate performance
• Antecedents of the credibility of UGC in different cultures
• Firm responses to negative UGC across national, regional or ethnic
cultures
