Model-Driven Methods Track
13th International Conference on the Quality of Information and
Communications Technology
September 9-11, 2020, Faro, Portugal
https://2020.quatic.orghttps://2020.quatic.org/thematic-tracks/model-driven-methods
*** Scope ***
Model-driven engineering (MDE) refers to a broad range of approaches
where models play an indispensable role in software development.
Modeling promotes higher level of abstraction, therefore reducing
complexity of software development and promoting communication among the
several stakeholders involded in the lifecycle of software systems
(e.g., product managers, analysts, designers, programmers, operators to
name just a few). MDE initiatives, such as Domain-Specific Modeling
(DSM), make claims of increased quality and productivity by separating
business and application logic from underlying platform technology,
transforming models to other models (e.g., for validation and
verification) and automating code generation (ranging from system
skeletons to complete, deployable products). However, while quality
assurance is a well-known topic in “traditional” Software Engineering,
less is known on how to assess quality across the MDE lifecycle
(encompassing new activities such as metamodel-based language
engineering or transformation engineering such as template-based code
generation), as well as on the effective improvements obtained by
applying MDE itself including the quality of the MDE technologies.
We seek novel contributions ranging from conceptual frameworks over
tool supported methodologies to case studies and experiments on how to
leverage ICT systems quality with MDE techniques, as well as how to
induce quality assurance in the MDE lifecycle itself.
*** Topics ***
The suggested topics of interest include, but are not restricted to:
-) Quality models in the MDE context
-) Quality assurance in the MDE development flow
-) Evaluating the quality of models, metamodels, and transformations
-) Models’ traceability throughout the complete lifecycle including
operations
-) Measuring the improvement achieved with an MDE approach, specially
regarding quality
-) Quality in the context of model-driven service oriented systems
-) Case studies and lessons learned in applying MDE in industry
-) Empirical studies on the quality of MDE processes
-) Studying the quality of MDE technologies
-) Modeling and analyzing quality standards
-) Role of MDE in the quality evaluation of software maintenance,
evolution and migration scenarios
*** QUATIC 2020 ***
The International Conference on the Quality of Information and
Communications Technology (QUATIC) is a leading scientific conference
that
gathers experts from industry and academia to exchange ideas and
approaches
regarding all quality aspects in ICT systems engineering and
management.
QUATIC'2020 is coming to Faro, capital of Algarve, the well-known
region in
the south of Portugal.

=====================================================
*
BMSD* - the *International Symposium on Business Modeling and Software
Design*, is a leading international discussion and knowledge
dissemination forum that brings together researchers and practitioners
interested in: (i) MODELING in general and in particular - conceptual
modeling, goal modeling, value modeling, business/enterprise modeling,
process modeling, situation modeling, data-analytics-driven modeling,
predictions-based modeling, model-driven engineering; (ii) ENTERPRISE
ENGINEERING and its relation to SOFTWARE SPECIFICATION; (iii)
INFORMATION SYSTEMS architectures and design. Each year, a special theme
is chosen, for making presentations and discussions more focused. The
theme of BMSD 2020 is: TOWARDS KNOWLEDGE-DRIVEN ENTERPRISE INFORMATION
SYSTEMS.
Adequate enterprise models are of huge importance not only for
understanding and (re-)engineering an organization but also for
adequately automating (part of) its processes by means of software. Not
grasping correctly and exhaustively an enterprise system would
inevitably lead to consequent software failures. It is therefore claimed
that SOFTWARE GENERATION should essentially have its roots in
corresponding enterprise engineering models.
In 2020, BMSD will be held in *Berlin*, *Germany*, following previous
events in *Portugal* (_Lisbon 2019_ <http://www.is-bmsd.org/BMSD2019/>),

Subject: [WI] [meetings] 2nd CFP: New Foundations for Human-Centered AI
(an ECAI workshop)

= NeHuAI-2020
= 1st International Workshop on New Foundations for Human-Centered AI
= June 9, Santiago de Compostela, Spain (Part of ECAI-2020)
======================================================================
SYNOPSIS
--------
In June 2018, the European Commission has appointed a "AI High Level
Expert Group" (AI-HLEG) to support the implementation of the European
Strategy on Artificial Intelligence. One of the first results of the
AI-HLEG has been to deliver ethics guidelines on Artificial Intelligence
(https://ec.europa.eu/futurium/en/ai-alliance-consultation/guidelines).
These guidelines put forward a human-centered approach to AI, and list
seven key requirements that human-centered, trustworthy AI systems
should meet, summarized by the following headers:
1. Human agency and oversight
2. Technical robustness and safety
3. Privacy and data governance
4. Transparency
5. Diversity, non-discrimination and fairness
6. Societal and environmental wellbeing
7. Accountability
Many of today's most popular AI methods, however, fail to meet these
guidelines: making them compliant is a scientific endeavor that is as
crucial as it is challenging and stimulating. Systems based on deep
learning are a case in point: while these systems often provide
impressive results, their ability to _explain_ these results to the user
is very limited, challenging requirements 4 and 7; in most cases we lack
ways to formally _verify_ their correctness and assess their boundary
conditions, challenging requirement 2; and we don't yet have methods to
allow humans to _collaboratively_ influence or question their decisions,
challenging requirement 1. Similar criticalities are present in many
other popular AI methods.
This full day workshop will collectively address the fundamental
questions of what are the scientific and technological gaps that we have
to fill in order to make AI systems _human-centered_ in terms of the
above guidelines.
PAPER SUBMISSION
----------------
Contributions are seeked on new foundations for building Human-Centered
AI systems, able to comply with AI-HLEG recommendations. Contributions
are seeked in the form of full papers (max 7 pages plus references)
presenting mature results, or position papers and reports of relevant
ongoing work (max 4 pages including references). More specific topics
include, but are not limited to:
- Explainable AI
- Verifiable AI
- Technical robustness and safety of AI systems
- Collaboration between humans and AI systems
- Integrating model-based and data-driven AI
- Integrating symbolic- and sub-symbolic AI
- Mixed initiative AI-Human systems
- Proactive AI systems in human environments
- Understanding and naturally interacting with humans
- Understanding and interaction in complex social settings
- Reflexivity and expectation managament
- Integrating Learning, Reasoning and Acting in AI systems
