Call for Papers for Minitrack at Americas Conference on Information
Systems: New Frontiers in Digital Convergence
CANCÚN, MÉXICO 2019, AUGUST, 15-17
Minitrack: Innovative Methods and Continuous Development
Track: Systems Analysis and Design (SIGSAND)
More information is available at https://amcis2019.aisconferences.org/ or
by contacting the minitrack chair (as below).
Description of Minitrack
In order to develop and deliver high-quality products to their customers,
software organizations are adopting innovative methods (Kanban, Lean) and
Continuous Development processes such continuous delivery, continuous
deployment, and microservices to support an agile software development
lifecycle. For example, the DevOps (Development + Operations) phenomenon
emerged to address the disconnection between development and operations
functions that can occur in large organizations particularly when they
adopt agile software development lifecycles.
The choice of these innovative development methods and approaches have a
high impact on the planning, development, operations, and delivery of
systems. They can also influence the structure or culture of organizations
as common organizational processes and development activities have to be
adapted to ensure Continuous Development.
Therefore, a better understanding of the factors that influence the
effective implementation of these innovative methods is needed. We need
empirical evidence of achieving (or not) the intended goals and outcomes on
all of the topics that fall under the umbrella of “Continuous Development”.
These and other related topics will be explored in this minitrack.
We are seeking high-quality research papers for this track that investigate
various aspects of contemporary innovative development methods (Lean,
Kanban) and Continuous development. Possible topics include, but are not
limited to:
- Continuous improvement with Lean and Kanban
- Continuous Development processes (continuous delivery, continuous release
and deployment, continuous measurement and improvement)
- Automation (build and test automation, deployment automation, monitoring
automation, infrastructure automation)
- Effective practices in Continuous Development
- Challenges implementing Continuous Development processes and activities
- Cultural enablers of DevOps (shared goals and understanding, continuous
experimentation and learning, shared values, respect and trust, and
collective ownership)
- Organisational issues for Continuous development
- DevOps in large enterprises
- Industrial experience with Continuous development
- Teaching DevOps and Continuous Development

CHASE 2019
Call for Papers 12th International Workshop on Cooperative and Human
Aspects of Software Engineering
http://www.chaseresearch.org/workshops/chase2019
*IMPORTANT DATES*
Feb 1st, 2019 – Workshop paper submissions
Mar 1st, 2019 – Notification
Mar 15th, 2019 – Camera-ready deadline
May 27th, 2019 – Workshop
*WORKSHOP OVERVIEW*
The software industry is experiencing dramatic changes: distributed
software development done in an agile way; agile methodologies scaled to
meet the requirements to support projects with several hundred developers;
and frequently deploying software which leads to continuous development
practices. As software engineering practices evolve, the Cooperative and
Human Aspects of Software Engineering (CHASE) change as well. It is crucial
to understand current and emerging software practices, processes, and tools
and their impact on important local and global issues. In turn, this
enables us to design tools and support mechanisms that improve software
creation and maintenance, customer communication, and the use and evolution
of deployed software systems.
Researchers and practitioners have long recognized the need to investigate
these aspects. However, their articles have been scattered across many
conferences and communities. This workshop provides a unified forum for
discussing high quality research studies, models, methods, and tools for
human and cooperative aspects of software engineering. We provide a meeting
place for academic, industry, and practitioner communities interested in
this area, and for those who are curious to see what it is all about. The
visualization of CHASE history and CHASE authors' network can be viewed in
the following link: http://chasevis.azurewebsites.net/
*WORKSHOP ORGANIZERS*
Yvonne Dittrich, IT University of Copenhagen, Denmark
Fabian Fagerholm, Univ. of Helsinki, Finland, and Blekinge Institute of
Technology, Sweden
Rashina Hoda, The University of Auckland, New Zealand
David Socha, University of Washington Bothell, WA, USA
Igor Steinmacher, Northern Arizona University, AZ, USA
*TOPICS OF INTEREST*
Topics of interest are about the human, cooperative, and collaborative
aspects of software engineering such as:
* Software design or engineering philosophies, practices, and tools;
* Adapting tools or processes to accommodate a range of organizational and
cultural situations;
* Sociological, cultural, psychological, or cognitive aspects of software
design or engineering;
* Managerial or organizational aspects focused on people and their
interactions;
* Teamwork, collaboration, or cooperation in or across various development
teams and methodologies;
* Community-based software development (e.g., Open Source, crowdsourcing,
etc);
* Coordination and knowledge sharing at different scales (e.g.,
distributed teams, semi-anonymous collaboration, “borderless” teams);
* Stakeholder participation within and across phases;
* Processes and tools to support communication, collaboration, and
cooperation among stakeholders.
Possible contributions include:
* Empirical studies of software engineering teams or individuals in situ;
* Laboratory studies of individual or team software engineering behavior;
* Novel tools or processes motivated by observed needs or empirical
investigations;
* Use of analysis techniques or frameworks from disciplines outside
software engineering, applied to empirical software engineering topics;
* Meta-research topics.
*SUBMISSIONS AND PRESENTATION*
* We welcome 8-page full papers, 4-page short papers, and 2-page notes to
enable attendees at different stages in their research process to
participate in the workshop. Page limits include references.
* Papers should be submitted through easychair (
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=chase2019) according to the IEEE
formatting instructions (
https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html).
* Accepted papers will be hosted on a password-protected, CHASE-hosted,
collaboration site to foster discussion prior to the workshop. The official
publication date of the workshop proceedings is the date the proceedings
are made available by IEEE. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the
first day of ICSE 2019. The official publication date affects the deadline
for any patent filings related to published work.
* We plan to have presentations for all papers. Short papers and notes will
be presented in shorter formats with accompanying posters. All interested
parties are welcome to register, even without an accepted paper.

Subject: [AISWorld] AMCIS 2019 Mini-Track on Value Appropriation and
Creation in Platform-Mediated Collaborative Environments: Call for Papers
Date: Sun, 6 Jan 2019 17:03:31 +0000
From: Yijing Li <yijing.li(a)unsw.edu.au>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
2019 Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), Cancún, México.
Track: Virtual Communities and Collaboration
Mini-track: Value Appropriation and Creation in Platform-Mediated
Collaborative Environments
Dear Colleges,
We invite submissions to the “Value Appropriation and Creation in
Platform-Mediated Collaborative Environments” mini-track under the
“Virtual Communities and Collaboration”
track at the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) 2019 to
be held in Cancún, México, August 15-17, 2019.
<Mini-Track Description>
Virtual communities are reshaping the way we communicate and collaborate
with one another, shifting us from spatial- and temporal-confined
interactions towards fluid peer-to-peer marketplaces and other
firm-market hybrids. The platform-mediated collaboration paradigm has
sprung up to facilitate both individuals and/or organizations in pooling
resources for the pursuit of mutual goals. For instance, we crowdfund
innovation from Kickstarter, staff projects through Amazon’s Mechanical
Turk, incubate products from open-source designs acquired through
micro-manufacturers like FirstBuild, organize virtual meetings using
WebEx, and work with team members via Asana. As virtual communities
redefine the boundaries and structures of human collaborations,
comprehending human behaviors in digital environments and deriving
design considerations for digital services that optimize collaborative
processes is imperative for realizing collaboration in the virtual space.
This mini-track embraces both retrospective and progressive views on
behavioral and design issues related to virtual collaborative platforms.
Particularly, we are interested in research that unravels the interplay
of human behaviors and virtual collaborative platforms at the
individual, group, organization, and societal levels as well as the
intersection across levels. Contributions to this mini-track should
expand our knowledge on how technologies govern and shape human
behaviors in virtual communities as well as how such technology-mediated
human behaviors, in turn, inform the design of virtual collaborative
platforms. We welcome both theoretical and empirical contributions that

CFP -- Smart and Connected Health (SCH) Symposium @ COMPSAC 2019,
Milwaukee, USA; Submissions Due 21 January 2019
https://ieeecompsac.computer.org/2019/477-2/
The goal of the Smart and Connected Health (SCH) symposium is to provide
an international forum connecting data, people and systems towards the
development and integration of innovative computer, software and
applications supporting the transformation of health and medicine.
Advances in communications, computer, and medical technology have
facilitated the practice of personalized health, which utilizes sensory
computational communication systems to support improved and more
personalized healthcare and healthy lifestyle choices. The proliferation
of broadband wireless services, along with more powerful and convenient
handheld devices, is helping to introduce real-time monitoring and
guidance for a wide array of patients. Research community and industry
are now connecting medical care with technology developers, vendors of
wireless and sensing hardware systems, network service providers, and
data management communities.
The symposium encourages research and breakthrough ideas in areas of
smart and connected health such as networking, pervasive computing,
analytics, sensor integration, privacy and security, socio-behavioral
models, and cognitive processes and system and process modeling. The
forum will increase more awareness of the constraints arising from
clinical and medical needs, barriers to change, heterogeneity of data,
semantic mismatch and limitations of current cyber physical systems and
an aging population.
The SCH symposium seeks inter-disciplinary collaborative research that
lead to new fundamental insights; and encourages empirical validation of
new concepts through research prototypes, ranging from specific
components to entire systems. It will open collaborations between
academic, industry, and other organizations to establish better linkages
between fundamental science, medicine and healthcare practice and
technology development, deployment and use.
