We aim to attract researchers from all over the world working on data
mining, modeling and using machine learning and AI for social media, big
and small data, sensor data and the web. Social networks such as
Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn have paved the way for generating huge
amount of diverse, streaming bit data in a short period of time. Such
social media data require the application of big data analytics to
produce meaningful information to both information consumers and data
generators. Machine learning and AI techniques are particularly
effective in situations where deep and predictive insights need to be
uncovered from such social media data sets that are large, diverse and
fast changing. Following the discussion at our workshop at TheWebConf
2018, we aim to focus on how to apply data mining, recommendation,
machine learning and AI models, algorithms and systems for analytic and
predictive modeling on social media, big data, small data, web and
sensor data. Contrary to last year’s workshop, we would like to
particularly invite researchers that are interested in going beyond
standard analytics approaches and try to discover the intelligent
information hidden in the large and fast-changing social media data.
Overall, we are interested in receiving papers related to the following
topics which include but are not limited to:
* predictive analytics methods or frameworks for social media, big data,
small data, sensor data and the web
* AI, machine learning, deep learning and NLP models, algorithms and
systems for social media, big data, small data, sensor data and the web
* deep learning approaches and models for social media, big data, small
data, sensor data and data from/on the web
* data mining techniques and algorithms for social media, big data,
small data, sensor data and data from/on the web
* methods for learning social activities and behavioral analytic metrics
* evaluation of machine learning and AI frameworks and metrics
* explainability and transparency of the machine learning/deep
learning/AI methods
* applications of machine learning, deep learning and AI
* applications of any of the above methods and technologies
The goal of this workshop is to use data mining, machine learning and AI
approaches and algorithms on social media, big data, small data, sensor
data and data from/on the web.
Submissions: We solicit full research papers (4-8 pages), and short
papers (1-4 pages) both in the ACM conference paper style.
Papers should be submitted in EasyChair to
https://easychair.org/my/conference.cgi?conf=msm2019
Proceedings:
============
Contributions will be included in the Companion volume of TheWebConf 2019
conference, which will be published by ACM and included
in the ACM Digital Library. However, to make that happen at least one
author of the accepted paper has to register. At the time of submission
of the final
camera-ready copy, authors will have to indicate the already
registered person for that publication.
Any paper published by the ACM, IEEE, etc. which can be properly
cited constitutes research which must be considered in judging the
novelty of a TheWebConf submission, whether the published paper was in a
conference, journal, or workshop. Therefore, any paper previously
published as part of a WWW or TheWebConf workshop must be referenced and
suitably
extended with new content to qualify as a new submission to the
Research Track at TheWebConf conference.
Submission guidelines:
======================
All submitted papers must
* be written in English;
* contain author names, affiliations, and email addresses;
* be formatted according to the ACM SIG Proceedings template
(https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template)
with a font size no smaller than 9pt;
* be in PDF (make sure that the PDF can be viewed on any
platform), and formatted for US Letter size;
* occupy no more than six pages, including the abstract,
references, and appendices.
It is the authors’ responsibility to ensure that their submissions
adhere strictly to the required format.
Submissions that do not comply with the above guidelines may be
rejected without review.
All submissions must be entered into the reviewing system:

Minitrack
*Organizational Transformation by Scaling and Extending the Use of Agile
Methods*
Track *Organisational Transformation & Information Systems (SIGOSRA)*
Description:
Many of today’s organizations see agility as a core capability of the
digital enterprise. While following agile values, principles and methods
in software development projects is by now well established,
organisations across all industries increasingly try to harness Agile’s
potential in other areas.
These areas include (1) scaling agile development to larger settings
involving multiple teams and/or projects, (2) managing distributed
organizational setups for development, (3) extending the agile values,
principles and methods to other functions and departments in the
enterprise beyond software development and IT, and (4) establishing
inter-organizational setups for agility that include customers, partners
or suppliers. These extensions lead to intensive organizational change
activities with a high impact on potentially all levels of the
organization: individual, team, management and governance.
For this minitrack, we seek to attract research contributions that
extend existing research by focusing on socio-technical, organizational,
managerial and/ or individual challenges of scaling and extending the
application of agile values, principles and methods beyond their
original scope.
We welcome conceptual, empirical, and design-oriented contributions for
this mini-track. Papers must be submitted through the conference
website: https://amcis2019.aisconferences.org/

Subject: [AISWorld] CfP CACOE19 – Workshop on Cyber Range Technologies
and Applications
Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2019 17:43:09 +0000
From: Teodor Sommestad <teodor.sommestad(a)foi.se>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
======================================================================
CACOE 2019 – CALL FOR PAPERS Workshop on Cyber Range Technologies and
Applications (CACOE) June 20, 2019
In conjunction with the 4th IEEE European Symposium on Security and
Privacy June 17-19, 2019, Stockholm, Sweden
WWW: https://cacoe.ait.ac.at/
======================================================================
The Cyber Range Technologies and Applications (CACOE) workshop aims to
bring together researchers advancing, developing and maintaining cyber
ranges (e.g., cyber-physical labs, clouds and other virtual platforms)
supporting cyber security training, tests and exercises. The CACOE19
workshop will be held on June 20, 2019 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Cyber ranges have emerged as a response to the need of high-fidelity
environments for testing, training, exercising capabilities related to
cyber security. They are typically based on virtualization technology
and are used to set up complex computer networks, simulate events, and
observe phenomena in a controlled environment. However, to set up
realistic tests, training or exercises in a cyber range is often
difficult, expensive and error prone. It can be seen as system
administration on steroids, where a few range engineers are to rapidly
build and manage networks of the size that it typically takes a whole IT
department to manage. There are many issues related to technical support
tools (e.g. deployment of virtual machines) that are yet to be solved
and many management issues (e.g. of event data management) that are to
be solved. Furthermore, the application of cyber ranges to tests,
training, and exercises is relatively new. Methodologies for
constructing large events, standards for experiments, and the utility of
cyber ranges to different applications is largely unknown.
AIM & SCOPE ============ The aim of the workshop is to exchange and
discuss technologies and infrastructures required to simulate real
systems with cyber incidents (e.g., simulation of benign or malicious
users, evaluation frameworks, capability measurement). This includes
experiences from using such technologies, e.g. for exercises and tests.
The workshop will not focus on product presentations, feature
presentations or marketing of various technical infrastructures for
cyber security training and exercises.
We invite papers from researchers and practitioners working in security,
systems engineering, situational awareness and related areas to submit
their original papers to this workshop. Case studies (successful or not)
related to cyber ranges are also encouraged.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: -Design of
large-scale exercises -Design of experiments -Analysis/reviews/tests of
tools and components for building large technical infrastructures
-Automated machine configuration and deployment -Event and scenario
management -Simulation of benign or malicious users -Event monitoring
and evaluation -Data management -Event operating environments and
scenarios modelling -Metrics and maturity levels -Measurements of
training effects and capabilities -Applications to test cyber security
properties -Human factors in training and exercises -Software as a
Service (SaaS) solutions -Security and privacy challenges -Simulation of
tools and components from various systems (e.g., industrial control
systems, cyber-physical systems, legacy systems, etc.)
IMPORTANT DATES ================ Papers submission deadline: February
21, 2019 Notification date: April 2, 2019 Camera-ready submission: April

SUBMISSON INSTRUCTIONS ======================= Papers must not exceed 8
pages total (including the references and appendices). Papers must be
submitted in a form suitable for anonymous review: no author names or
affiliations may appear on the title page, and papers should avoid
revealing their identity in the text. Papers must be typeset in LaTeX in

DESCRIPTION
The goal of RCIS is to bring together scientists, researchers, engineers
and practitioners from a wide range of information science fields and
provide opportunities for knowledge sharing and dissemination. RCIS has
become a recognised conference on research challenges in information
sciences. Organised for the 13th time in a row, RCIS 2019 will be held
from May 29-31, 2019, in Brussels, Belgium, Capital of Europe.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
At RCIS 2019, among other regular topics, special attention will be
given to the special topic: "Towards a Design Science for Information
Systems". With the advent of ubiquitous computing, today's information
systems are designed, developed, used, and tested on a very wide
spectrum of devices and computing platforms, by a diverse population of
stakeholders (e.g., analysts, designers, developers, end users) for an
ever wider range of tasks carried out in multiple physical and
psychological environments, thus inducing many different contexts of
use. Facing this variety of contexts of use, design science is expected
to help people producing information systems that are better tailored to
their needs when interacting with these systems. This year's RCIS theme
aims to explore the role played by design science in every stage of the
development life cycle of information systems, which includes
meta-models, models, languages, notations, methods, and software tools
for supporting these stages
. RCIS welcomes submissions from a diverse spectrum of information
science. The list of themes and topics includes, but is not limited to,
the areas that can be found here http://www.rcis-conf.com/callPapers.php

- Track: Human-Computer Interaction (SIGHCI)
Cancun, Mexico; August 15-17, 2019
*Description*
Understanding and adapting to the cognitive and affective states of users
can enable systems to interact more effectively, and creates new
possibilities for information systems. Emerging systems are able to
incorporate information from these sensors to create more humanlike
responses, to improve decision processes, and to gain a deeper
understanding of how the user is thinking or feeling.
The cross-disciplinary nature of the IS discipline and its unique ability
to view technology in novel ways gives it strong potential to make big
waves in this domain. We encourage full paper and research-in-progress
submissions ranging from exploratory to confirmatory work. All methods of
research are welcome, including design science, qualitative, empirical, and
theoretical research. Potential topics include, but are not limited to the
following:
- Affective or cognitive state detection

Subject: [AISWorld] CFP: Special Issue of Security and Communication
Networks on Characterization and Detection of Fakes, Spammers, and Bots
in Social and Communication Networks

Security and Communication Networks
Special Issue on Characterization and Detection of Fakes, Spammers,
and Bots in Social and Communication Networks
Deadline for submission: January 18, 2019
Publication date: June, 2019
This special issue focuses on authentication techniques, access
control mechanisms, network traffic analysis,
and novel detection techniques for malicious users/nodes in
social/communication networks.
Online social networks, and in general, communication networks, are a
crucial component in the public sphere, enhancing communications,
fostering discussions, and influencing the public perception for a
myriad of issues. However, social and communication networks have
become the ideal stage for the proliferation of fictitious and
malicious accounts, including bots and botnets. Efficient detection of
such malicious nodes in social and communication networks has thus
become one of the most pressing contemporary challenges. Particular
emphasis should be given to the design of flexible and scalable
techniques capable of dealing with different types of malicious nodes
in large-scale analyses. We also encourage studies assessing the
consequences of malicious actions. Finally, novel approaches to the
collection and annotation of large ground-truth datasets are also
welcomed.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Authentication techniques to discriminate between legitimate and
malicious nodes
- Access control mechanisms that prevent data disclosure hosted in
social and communication networks to possible bots
- Machine learning-based detection techniques for malicious nodes
- Network analysis techniques for characterization and detection of
malicious nodes
- Online behavioral modeling for the detection of anomalous behaviors
- Techniques for detecting groups of synchronized and coordinated
malicious nodes
- Techniques for detecting evolving/evading malicious nodes

CALL FOR PAPERS - DESRIST 2019
14th International Conference on Design Science Research in Information
Systems and Technology (DESRIST 2019)
June 4th - 6th 2019 / Worcester, MA, USA (https://desrist2019.org)
Design Science Theory and Practice for a Digitally Connected and
Globalized World
The increasing need for smart and connected solutions that address
business and society challenges and opportunities through information
systems requires advances in both theory and practice of design science
research (DSR). The goal of the design science research paradigm is to
extend the boundaries of human and organizational capabilities by
designing new and innovative artifacts (constructs, models, methods,
processes, and systems). Scholars having different backgrounds such as
information systems, computer science, operations research, cognitive
science and informatics are actively engaged in generating novel
solutions to interesting design problems.
DESRIST serves as a major forum for the presentation of innovative
ideas, approaches, developments and research projects in the area of DSR
theory and applications. It aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas
between researchers and industry professionals. Latest issues and
advancement in computing and its applications will be covered during the
conference. The 14th DESRIST will be held in Worcester, Massachusetts in
the Greater Boston area and is expected to attract researchers and
practitioners from around the world.
We encourage submissions related but not limited to the following areas:
DSR in Healthcare
DSR in Cyber Security
DSR in Service Science
DSR for HCI
DSR in Data Science
DRS in Business Analytics and Process Management
DSR Foundations and Methodological Contributions
DSR Emerging Ideas
DSR in Domain Specific Applications
DSR for ICT in Developing Countries
DSR in Sustainable and Green Technology
The conference proceedings will be published as a Springer Lecture Notes
in Computer Science series. Authors are solicited to contribute to the
Conference by submitting articles that illustrate research results,
projects, innovation works and industrial experiences that describe
significant advances in design science research pertaining to
Information Systems.
