Submission deadline-Full papers: 15th February 2018
website: http://ifipwg86.wikidot.com/upcoming-events
The adoption and diffusion of information technology has passed through decades of developments and major shifts. It has progressed from developing and adopting single isolated systems to large integrated systems to cloud computing. It has taken major shifts and turns with the adoption of mobile technology, web-based services, wearables and Internet of Things. In the IFIP 8.6 tradition, this working conference focuses on the new developments in the adoption and diffusion of technology, systems and the resulting information that is produced and used for different purposes.
The aim is to progress our understanding of the plethora of new technologies that are being adopted everyday by individuals, organisations, sectors and society in order to better understand the human aspects of living and organising with these technologies. In particular, we call for research from different contexts and walks of life to understand the adoption and organising principles of emerging smart devices and technologies in smart homes, smart cars, smart phones, smart government, smart cities and smart organisations. Who is becoming smart and what are they becoming smart about? Who are the “winners and losers” and what role does technology play? How are emerging technologies adopted and appropriated in everyday life and what impact are they exerting?
The conference also aims to broaden the theoretical base of adoption and diffusion of technology in light of these new technologies and new challenges. Hence, while we welcome papers that focus on traditional diffusion of innovation theories, we strongly encourage critical thinking and development and utilisation of new, non-traditional and context specific conceptual lenses and viewpoints.
We welcome papers that focus on technology at home, in the workplace and as it applies to the delivery of public services. We hope to move forward in our understanding of different types of adoption contexts which include organisations, sectors and society. Some types of organisations and sectors have traditionally been less represented in our research and we would encourage scholarly work in these areas. For example, not-for-profit and voluntary sector organisations, criminal justice, building and construction, automotive, transportation and infrastructure , emergency management as well as the energy sectors. We also encourage and welcome papers on general topics related to technology implementation, adoption and transfer.
Topics of submission may include but are not limited to:
· Appropriation of emerging technologies including smart and mobile devices, cloud computing, data analytics, drones in homes, cars and transportation systems, government, cities and different organisations.
· Diffusion, transfer, and implementation of both mature and immature smart information technologies and systems in organizations and among organizations, sectors, and countries.
· Transfer of technology to be incorporated in systems for customers and clients and in different developing and developed countries.
· Development of frameworks, models, and terminology for information technology transfer and diffusion in different contexts and different types of technology.
· Adoption and diffusion of technology in the emergency management, political and criminal justice sectors
· Identification of risk factors and barriers to success in emerging technology adoption and strategies for addressing them.
· Conditions or scenarios under which specific transfer and diffusion techniques are applicable.
· Methods to evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness, and value of technology transfer programs and approaches, including time and effort estimators and metrics.
· Organization design and process issues related to technology transfer and diffusion.
· Case studies of technology transfer and diffusion to provide instances to guide research, development, and practice.

Hi,
The Australasian Journal of Information Systems has just published its latest article.
Weerasinghe, K., Pauleen, D., Scahill, S., & Taskin, N. (2018). Development of a Theoretical Framework to Investigate Alignment of Big Data in Healthcare through a Social Representation Lens. Australasian Journal of Information Systems, 22. doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.3127/ajis.v22i0.1617
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to develop a theoretical framework grounded in the literature, which can be used to explore the influence of big data on business-IT alignment in the healthcare context. Increasingly the availability of information systems in healthcare delivery and service management results in massive amounts of complex data that have the 3V characteristics of big data (i.e. volume, variety, velocity). Use of big-healthcare-data has been identified as bringing significant benefits to the healthcare sector from improved decision making through to population health analysis. Although the technical dynamics around big data such as analytics and infrastructure requirements are extensively researched, less attention has been given to social dynamics such as peoples' experience, understanding and perceived usefulness of this data. To address this gap, the paper uses social representation theory as a methodological lens to develop a theoretical framework to study the social dynamics around big data and its use in the healthcare context. The selected case for this development is the New Zealand healthcare sector and an approach using multi-level macro, meso, and micro analysis is taken. Use of social representation theory as a methodological lens to develop a theoretical framework is a novel approach. Such a theoretical framework will be useful as a foundation for carrying out on-going empirical research on big data to understand its influence on business-IT alignment in the healthcare context.
Keywords
big data; healthcare; business-IT alignment; social representation theory; New Zealand healthcare; healthcare information systems

Track Call for Papers: E-Government in a Digitized Society
22nd Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems 2018 (PACIS 2018) (https://pacis2018.jp/)
26-30 June 2018, Yokohama, Japan
The increasing digitalization of our societies is presenting both opportunities and challenges to governments, businesses and individuals. This track on ‘e-Government in a Digitized Society’ focuses on the opportunities and challenges upon governments.
The development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and its applications, such as artificial intelligence, big-data, cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT), is transforming the function, form and structure of government. ICT is also disrupting social norms as well as business operations and models, which in-turn complicates the governance of societies. What are some of the challenges and issues that contemporary governments need to address in such digitized societies? Why do these challenges and issues exist? How are they formed and how can they be addressed or mitigated? These are questions that are of interest to this track.
At the same time, the digitization of societies also presents opportunities and benefits to government in improving how societies may be governed. Visionary programmes such as Smart Cities, Open Government and Participatory Democracy are all novel public administration innovations that are enabled through the use of ICT. What are the challenges and successes in implementing these novel public administration innovations? Why are some implementation of these more successful than others? How can governments harness the opportunities and realise the benefits presented by the digitization of societies? These are more questions that are of interest to this track.
Papers that are of a conceptual, analytical, or empirical nature, which develop or extend theory and practice, are welcome. We encourage all methods of research including, simulations, field experiments, case studies, and surveys.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Artificial Intelligence in Government
· Analytics in Government
· Big Data in Government
· Cloud Computing in Government
· ICT in Government
· IoT in Government
· Social Media in Government
· E-Government Case Studies
· E-Government Service Delivery
· Governance of Digitized Societies

September 9-14, 2018, Sydney Australia
Submission due: March, 12, 2018
http://bpm2018.web.cse.unsw.edu.au/Call_for_Papers.html
ABOUT
This track gives management-related BPM research a home at the annual BPM conference, the premium forum for researchers and practitioners in business process management. The newly founded Management Track invites papers that aim at advancing our understanding of how BPM can deliver business value, for instance in building organizational capabilities that improve, innovate or transform the respective business. Papers that study the application and/ or impact of BPM methods and tools in use contexts based on empirical observation are highly welcome. The track specifically invites contributions from information systems research as well as management and organizational sciences.
TOPICS
Areas of interest include a wide range of capability areas that are relevant for BPM, such as strategic alignment, governance, methods, information technology, and human aspects including people and culture. We seek contributions that advance our understanding on how organizations can develop such capabilities in order to achieve specific objectives in given organizational contexts. Papers may use various strategies of inquiry, including case study research, action research, focus group research, big data analytics research, neuroscience research, econometric research, literature review research, survey research or design science research. Papers will be evaluated according to management and information systems standards.
EJIS – SPECIAL ISSUE
In conjunction with the Management Track, an EJIS special issue is organized (European Journal of Information Systems, (ABDC: A*; ABS: 3; ISI: 2.819; VHB: A). Authors of selected papers in this track will be invited to submit revised and extended versions of their work for the EJIS special issue on “Business Process Management and Digital Innovation” (http://explore.tandfonline.com/cfp/est/jmj02771-tjis-si-business-process-ma…).
