***************************************************************************
Deadline for paper submissions: December 7, 2012
============================================
Track Description
===============
Information technology and information systems (IT/IS) development and
management is a complex phenomenon. IT/IS is typically developed and
managed by deploying individuals or groups from various cultures,
educational / professional backgrounds, and organizations who work
together using various methods (or methodologies/ frameworks) and tools
to ensure that the final product will meet the expectations of all
stakeholders. In order to better understand the intricate problems that
can arise in such a complex and dynamic work environment, this track
adopts a multi-dimensional approach focusing on both user-centric, as
well as, method-centric aspects:
/Human factors in IS/IT Development and Management/: understanding the
large variety of human factors that need to be considered during IS/IT
Development and Management. Issues such as (and not limited to) lack of
proper communication and coordination among team members, employee
motivation, cultural differences etc. This topic also deals with human
issues related to IS/IT development in specific project and
organizational environments, for example, customer collaboration is
important in an Agile development context, while developer coordination
and communication is critical in a globally distributed software
development environment
/Methods and Tools in IS/IT Development and Management/: understanding
and explaining the design, adoption, and success of methods (or
methodologies/ frameworks) and tools from areas such as (and not limited
to) project management, software engineering, method engineering,
architecture management, service management, and IS/IT governance. The
goal is to foster research by providing deeper insights into factors
that affect their successful design, dissemination, and application.
Researchers and practitioners interested in submitting papers to this
track are encouraged to explore IT/IS development and management issues
related to the above mentioned themes – for example, from a design,
behavioral, and technical perspective. Papers may consider different
units of analysis: individual, group, or organizational level.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
=======================================
o Socio-technical approach
o Coordination, communication, collaboration, and awareness issues in
IS/IT development and management
o Organizational and governmental issues in IS/IT development and
management
o Project management methods and tools
o Communities of interest, communities of practice, knowledge sharing
and organizational learning in IS/IT development and management
o Issues particular to global IS/IT development and management (e.g.
outsourcing)
o Issues related to Open source development
o Design, configuration and customization of IT/IS management and
development methods and tools
o Empirical studies in method design and engineering: experiences, case
studies and usage-oriented evaluations
o Issues related to computer-based support to IS/IT methods
o Method and tool acceptance and adoption
o Strategies to improve IS/IT methods acceptance
o Leadership, power, and politics in IS/IT development and management
o Software and tools that support effective IS/IT development and
management (e.g., project management information systems, software
development tools, etc.)

Subject: [computational.science] IFIP IDMAN 2013: second
call for papers

Second Call for Papers
IFIP IDMAN 2013 - 3rd IFIP WG 11.6 Working Conference on
Policies & Research in Identity Management
London, UK, 8th-9th April 2013
www.idman2013.com
Background
Building on the success of IDMAN 2007 and 2010 (which were held
in Rotterdam and Oslo, respectively), this conference focuses
on the theory, technologies and applications of identity
management. IFIP IDMAN 2013, the 3rd IFIP WG 11.6 Working
Conference on Policies & Research in Identity Management, will
take place between the 8th and 10th of April 2013 at Royal
Holloway, University of London, UK.
Conference scope
The world of the 21st century is, more than ever, global and impersonal. As
a result of increasing cyber fraud and cyber terrorism, the demand for
better technical methods of identification is growing, not only in companies
and organisations but also in the world at large. Moreover, in our society
digital identities increasingly play a role in the provision of eGovernment
and eCommerce services. For practical reasons, Identity Management Systems
are needed that are usable and interoperable.
At the same time, individuals increasingly leave trails of personal data
when using the Internet, which allows them to be profiled and which may be
stored for many years to come. Technical trends such as Cloud Computing and
pervasive computing make personal data processing non-transparent, and make
it increasingly difficult for users to control their personal spheres. As
part of this tendency, surveillance and monitoring are increasingly
present in society, both in the public and private domains. Whilst the
original
intention is to contribute to security and safety, surveillance and
monitoring might, in some cases, have unintended or even contradictory
effects. Moreover, the omnipresence of surveillance and monitoring systems
might directly conflict with public and democratic liberties.
These developments raise substantial new challenges for privacy and identity
management at the technical, social, ethical, regulatory, and legal levels.
Identity management challenges the information security research community
to focus on interdisciplinary and holistic approaches, while retaining the
benefits of previous research efforts.
Topics for papers
Papers offering research contributions to the area of identity management
are solicited for submission to the 3rd IFIP WG-11.6 IDMAN conference.
Papers may present theory, applications or practical experience in the
field of identity management, from a technical, legal or
socio-economic perspective, including, but not necessarily limited to:
o Novel identity management technologies and approaches
o Interoperable identity management solutions
o Privacy-enhancing technologies
o Identity management for mobile and ubiquitous computing
o Identity management solutions for eHealth, eGovernment and
eCommerce
o Privacy and Identity (Management) in and for cloud computing
o Privacy and Identity in social networks
o Risk analysis techniques for privacy risk and privacy impact
assessment
o Privacy management of identity management
o Identity theft prevention
o Attribute based authentication and access control
o User-centric identity management
o Legal, socio-economic, philosophical and ethical aspects
o Impact on society and politics
o Related developments in social tracking, tracing and sorting
o Quality of identity data, processes and applications
o User centered, usable and inclusive identity management
o Attacks on identity management infrastructures
o Methods of identification and authentication
o Identification and authentication procedures
o Applications of anonymous credentials
o (Privacy-preserving) identity profiling and fraud detection
o Government PKIs
o (Possible) role of pseudonymous and anonymous identity in identity

(in conjunction with International Conference on Information
Systems)
The purpose of this workshop is to provide a forum to
discuss new research directions in the area of business
process management and business service automation. A
critical goal of the workshop is to cultivate high quality
research concerning Internet-enabled business processes and
services, which include new technological advances such as
cloud computing, mobile commerce, service virtualization,
and big data analysis.
This workshop aims to extend the boundaries of research in
business process management by integrating new elements that
have not been sufficiently emphasized in the past. The recent
rapid advances in information systems have created both
challenges and opportunities to develop new business
services via innovative business processes. For instance, we
know how to automate routine, formal business processes but
have not really attempted computerizing ad hoc processes
that may emerge spontaneously and have short life span.
These may include examples like setting up ad hoc meetings
that may involve a number of people from different places,
different IT devices and platforms, an evolving agenda, a
set of documents as inputs and outputs and some decisions
and outcomes. Such meetings are often very valuable but also
time consuming to organize and manage.
Another important area of interest of this workshop is to
promote theoretical efforts in business processes. The
business process modeling and automation research has been
largely driven by the need to solve practical problems.
There has been a lack of strong theories in this area and we
believe that it is essential to develop new theories about
business process and service automation. The Process
Virtualization Theory
(http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1085328), proposed
by Eric Overby, presents an excellent example of such
theories and provides a great starting point for a
theoretical discussion at the workshop.
Given the nature and purposes of this workshop, we invite
papers of no more than five pages that are well articulated
and formatted in _single line spacing, Times New Roman, 12
pt, 1 inch margins_.We particularly seek position papers but
also welcome conceptual papers with a strong theoretical
flavor, as well as completed research papers or
research-in-progress papers. Suggested research topics
include, but not limited to, the following ones:
·Cloud computing and process management
·Collaborative processes in social media
·Coordination and cooperation mechanisms for process management
·Data mining for process technologies and management
·Financial service applications
·Frameworks and methodologies for collaboration processes
·Healthcare and process management
·Human resource management under distributed process
technologies
·Metrics and measurements in business processes and services
·Evaluations of business process and service implementations
·Mobile commerce and process management
·Organization and culture issues in process automation
·Process competencies in information intensive businesses

Track Description
===============
Business intelligence (BI) and knowledge management (KM) contribute
significantly to an organisation's competitiveness and development. Both
domains provide means to leverage organisational information and
knowledge assets for efficient and effective decision making. In order
to provide enduring value, the decision makers must rely on
consolidated, timely, and accurate information as well as on a current
and context-rich knowledge base that are correlated with the
organisational setting and environment. For this reason, BI and KM
become more and more important in global settings. The influence of
aspects like geographical dispersion, communication across time zones as
well as cultural influence crossing borders is a topically focus issue
in current research.
BI and KM represent an essential component of the enterprise application
landscape. BI comprises a broad selection of technologies, applications,
and processes to support data analysis and decision making in
organisations and across organisational and societal borders.
Complementary, KM focuses on capturing the right knowledge, providing it
to the right user, and using this knowledge to improve
(inter-)organisational and/ or individual performance. Although
addressed by research for a long time, both domains are still evolving.
For example, new applications, innovative technologies, and increasing
maturity of BI and KM solutions demand for adequate methodological and
technical advice as well as for the performance measurement of
organisational applications.
In such settings, BI and KM design, acceptance, and deployment are
influenced by a variety of additional aspects, in particular cultural
aspects. Consequently, various disciplines have to contribute developing
comprehensive and reliable (global) BI and KM settings. This track aims
to promote multi-disciplinary contributions dealing with a managerial,
an economic, a methodological, a cultural, or a technical perspective on
BI and KM. Submissions based on theoretical research, design research,
action research, or behavioural research are encouraged. We welcome both
full research papers and research in progress papers.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
=======================================
* Support for mature BI and KM solutions: BI/ KM governance, BI/ KM
strategies, BI/ KM maturity models, BI/ KM success factors, and BI/KM
performance
* Cross-border/ cross-cultural BI and KM
* Emerging trends in BI: pervasive BI, BI 2.0 (social media and BI), and
mobile BI
* Real time data warehousing and operational BI, event-driven BI, BAM
* Applications of BI, such as customer relationship management and
business performance management
* Data warehousing and data integration
* Predictive and advanced analytics, and data visualisation
* Insight-to-action decision support
* Analytics as a Service
* Data, text and web mining for BI
* Management of knowledge and business process improvement

*PROGRAM *
The debate surrounding the theoretical foundations of the IS field has
been around since its inception. Ever since Dearden (1972,"MIS is a
Mirage" <#_ENREF_5>) questioned the very concept of MIS itself and Keen
(1980 <#_ENREF_9>) called for building a cumulative tradition, numerous
articles, journal special issues, panels and discussions surrounding
similar epistemological issues have manifested itself in various forms
ranging from the issue of diversity (Benbasat and Weber 1996
<#_ENREF_3>), relevance (Applegate 1999 <#_ENREF_1>; Gray 2001
<#_ENREF_6>), IS as a reference discipline (Baskerville and Myers 2002
<#_ENREF_2>; Grover et al. 2006 <#_ENREF_8>; Wade et al. 2006
<#_ENREF_13>), identity and "core" of IS (Benbasat and Zmud 2003
<#_ENREF_4>; Gray 2003 <#_ENREF_7>; Lyytinen and King 2004 <#_ENREF_10>;
Weber 2006 <#_ENREF_14>; Weber 2012 <#_ENREF_15>), and more recently
whether or not the IS field actually has "native theories" (Straub 2012
<#_ENREF_12>). Is this issue overstated and merely the result of framing
the question? Or is it a fundamental concern that requires a conceptual
analysis (Markus and Saunders 2007, "Looking for a Few Good
Concepts...And Theories...For the Information Systems Field"
<#_ENREF_11>)? This year's concurrent SIG Philosophy ICIS workshop
examines this issue, in particular, what "native theories" mean to the
IS field, from the point of view of several senior scholars of the IS
field involved in the debate. Going beyond defending the merits of their
viewpoints, the speakers and panelists will focus on how future research
could help build theories that will enhance the IS field.
*Sun, Dec 16, 2012*
6:00-7:30pm ICIS reception
7:30-8:15pm Presentation/Discussion led by Prof. Detmar Straub on
â??Native IS theories.â??
