SCOPE:
One of the most important recurrent problems in any enterprise is how to ensure the reliability and correctness of the core processes and systems the company relies on. This event focuses on the provision of methods and tools that can increase the level of confidence on Enterprise Information Systems (EIS).
Procedures to increase the quality of the outcome for an EIS can be exercised at different levels and this forum considers methodologies that can help, either at an organizational or at a software development level, to increase the level of confidence in the IS used and produced. The complexity of modern companies, which are usually geographically distributed and support online simultaneous operations from many customers around the world, is reflected in complex operational procedures as well as in the sophisticated software that is needed to realize that operational structure. Several methodologies have been developed to analyse and develop processes that whilst reflecting the complex operational contexts of modern companies are also reliable. Modelling, Simulation, Verification and Validation are particularly connected with the responsible production of systems and quality assurance testing. They can be connected to each other in order to explore the behaviour of a system u
nder development and to evaluate how it relates to the intended implementation.

*** Original Call for Chapters/Papers ***
CALL FOR CHAPTERS/PAPERS on
(1) the general theme of Technology Enhanced Learning for an edited book
(2) a special section on ?Game-based Learning: Design and Applications?
of the Interdisciplinary Journal of Information, Knowledge, and
Management (IJIKM)
URL: http://jelenajovanovic.net/tel-cfp-2012.html
Full Chapters/Papers Due: 15 APRIL 2012
AIM & SCOPE
Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) is a very broad and increasingly
mature research field. It encompasses a variety of research topics,
ranging from the study of different pedagogical approaches, teaching
techniques and strategies for online learning to the application of
advanced technologies in educational settings (e.g., different kinds of
mobile devices, sensors and sensor networks that provide the technical
foundation for context-aware, ubiquitous learning). The TEL community
has also been exploring the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies
and techniques for the development of intelligent learning environments
capable of adapting to the learners? needs and preferences and providing
learners with personalized learning experience. Recognizing the
potential of online social networks, social media and Web-based social
software tools as learning platforms for online education, the TEL
community has poured significant time and effort into researching how
these popular technologies could be combined with appropriate
pedagogical approaches to make learning experience more engaging,
satisfying and successful. Among the most important results of these
research efforts are personal learning environments that allow learners
to create mash-ups of diverse social software tools based on their own
needs and preferences, as well as to create and maintain their online
learning networks. Undeniably, technological advances are making
education more accessible to an increasing number of people worldwide;
to fully exploit the huge benefit the technology is offering, the TEL
community is exploring efficient approaches for adapting learning
resources to address language, generation and cultural specificities.
Aiming to make learning accessible to all, the community has also
focused on the development of solutions for learners with special needs.
Finally, it should be noted that all the above mentioned research
efforts of the TEL community are finding their applications in different
learning contexts and domains, including formal education and informal
learning, as well as workplace learning in small, medium and large
companies.
Since the scope of TEL research is constantly evolving, the above given
overview of the current research efforts does not aim to be exhaustive
by any means. Instead, its purpose is to give some insights into the
breadth of research topics and challenges that the edited book aims to
cover. Accordingly, the recommended topics include, but are not limited
to, the following:
Technological Foundation for Advanced Educational Solutions
- Social software and social computing
- Semantic technologies (including Semantic Web technologies and natural
language processing)
- Mobile technologies, sensors, context-aware and ubiquitous computing
- Educational data mining and learning analytics
- Technologies for interoperability, sharing and integration of
educational resources
- Learner modeling and other technologies for personalization and adaptation
- Open learning content and tools
Pedagogical Foundation for Advanced Educational Solutions
- Collaborative learning and knowledge building
- Problem- and project-based learning
- Learner motivation and engagement
- Game-based learning
- Learning design and different design approaches
Individual and Organizational Learning
- Self-regulated learning
- Communities of learners & Communities of practice
- Knowledge management and organizational learning
- Lifelong learning
- Informal learning
Accommodating Diversities
- Accessible learning for all
- Addressing language, generation and cultural differences
As can be seen from this list of topics, one of the areas in TEL is
game-based learning. Researchers have found that educational and/or
computer-based games have real potential as learning tools. It has been
shown, for example, that games can help players to improve their problem
solving and negotiation skills, narrative and communication skills as
well as non-linear thinking patterns. Game-based learning has already
been successfully applied to both the school and workplace settings, and
their adoption is continually increasing. In addition, there has
recently been an increasing interest in ?gamification? of education as a
means to increase students? motivation for learning. Gamification refers
to the use of game design elements, or the so-called game mechanics, in
non-game contexts and applications with the aim of increasing users?
engagement with those applications. Game design elements are often very
efficient in increasing motivation as they are grounded on research
results of positive psychology.
While educational games have been studied extensively for years, the
gamification of education, i.e., the application of game mechanics in
online learning environments with the aim of motivating learners to
engage with the contents, activities and tools offered by these
environments, is an emerging research area that has just started to
attract the attention of education-oriented research communities.
Regardless of their maturity, both research areas face many interesting
and challenging research questions, among which, for the special section
on ?Game-based Learning: Design and Applications?, the most interesting
are those related to motivation as one of the key determinants of
successful learning and knowledge building activities, both in academic
and workplace settings. Accordingly, in this special section we welcome
submissions that report on:
- the design and development of educational games that motivate users to
indulge in learning activities
- the application of game design elements in online learning
environments with the aim of increasing learners? motivation and engagement
- the evaluation of educational games or game mechanics in real world
educational settings
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
For the edited book, prospective authors are invited to submit on or
before February 29, 2012 a 2-page proposal to jeljov(a)gmail.com
<mailto:jeljov@gmail.com> (cc. rchiong(a)swin.edu.au

Call for Minitrack Papers: Information Issues in Supply Chain and in Service System Design
(Part of the Organizational Systems and Technology Track, HICSS 46)
We invite you to submit papers for the Information Issues in Supply Chain and in Service System Design minitrack at HICSS, January 7-10, 2013. The conference will be held on Maui, Hawaii.
We invite state-of-art empirical, theoretical, experimental, and simulation research along with rigorous case studies exploring the increasing complex roles that information systems now play in the design of successful operations at many supply chain and service systems. We are also soliciting comprehensive reviews of relevant research, and applications highlighting the use of new technologies, methods, and techniques. In particular, we want to systematically explore the complex interplay between business process designs, technology, organizational architectures, and information sharing. There is a growing body of research within the economics, marketing, operations management, information systems, and healthcare communities which are starting to address those issues. We expect to see applications analyzing enterprise resource allocation, call center management, capacity planning, revenue management, scheduling, inventory management, and global coordination of supply chains,
logistical operations, dynamic pricing, contingent contracting, and the impact of information asymmetry across market agents. Thus the track is open to a wide range of content areas that lend themselves to the analysis of information issues in Supply Chain and Service System Design.
Selected papers from the minitrack will be fast tracked to the special issue of DSS.

UBIQUITOUS USER MODELING ? STATE OF THE ART AND CURRENT CHALLENGES
International Workshop at Haifa, Israel
Research Workshop of the Israel Science Foundation
June 25th ? 28th, 2012
University of Haifa, Israel
Website: http://cri.haifa.ac.il/U2M2012/
Email: upworkshop.2012(at)gmail(dot)com
========== Summary and Theme ==========
In today's world, computer systems are part of almost every service we
receive; we either interact directly with them (as in: ATMs,
movies/transportation tickets purchasing kiosks, medical information
kiosks, etc.) or they operate in the background (e.g., food ordering,
medical treatment, flight boarding, shopping, etc.). Such services have
the potential to be personalized to users' preferences and needs in ways
that will make them more friendly and useful. However, in order to do
that, knowledge about the target user is required. Asking users each
time for their preferences and needs can be time consuming for the user,
inefficient and irritating. Beyond that, services are delivered
everywhere and in changing environments; this means that the context
varies too (with/without internet connectivity, local/abroad, etc.).
Recent developments in technology (e.g., ubiquity of smart mobile
devices) and social trends (e.g., online social networking) bring us
closer to ubiquitous personalization, a situation where no matter where
we go we will be able to receive services tailored to our personal
preferences. In order to make ubiquitous personalization available to
the masses, researchers need to draw upon knowledge that is
multidisciplinary. Future personalized ubiquitous solutions need to
address topics such as: communication interfaces, user interfaces,
ubiquitous user modeling, lifelong user modeling and more. The workshop
is intended to bring together researchers, graduate students and
industry people in the area of ubiquitous user modeling (and related
areas). The workshop will be an opportunity for researchers to share and
collaborate on ideas related to ubiquitous user modeling, lifelong user
modeling, personalization and other related topics. It will be a great
opportunity for graduate students to present their work, get feedback,
learn and meet leading researchers in this area.

http://www.nics.uma.es/seciot12
in conjunction with
ICCCN 2012, July 30 – August 2, 2012
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Important Dates:
----------------
Paper Submission due: March 16, 2012 (Extended)
Acceptance notification: April 25, 2012
Final papers due: May 10, 2012
Overview/Scope:
---------------
While there are many definitions of the Internet of Things (IoT), all of
them revolve around the same central concept: a world-wide network of
interconnected objects. These objects will make use of multiple
technological building blocks (e.g. wireless communication, sensors,
actuators, RFID) and connectivity paradigms (e.g. cloud-based
infrastructures, P2P systems) in order to allow people and things to be
connected anytime anyplace, with anything and anyone. However, mainly due
to the inherent heterogeneity of this vision and its broad scope, there
will not be a single silver bullet security solution that will fulfill all
the security requirements of the IoT. Therefore: How can we include
security as a core element of the IoT? How will the IoT interact with
other security mechanisms of the Future Internet? What security
requirements will be truly challenged by the ultimate vision of the IoT?
It is precisely the goal of this workshop to bring together researchers
and industry experts in areas relevant to the security of the Internet of
Things to discuss these and other significant issues. Moreover, this
workshop also has the objective to serve as a forum not only for
presenting cutting-edge research, but also for debating the role of
security and its practical implications in the development of the IoT.
Topics of interest for the workshop include the following:
----------------------------------------------------------
* New security problems in the context of the IoT.
* Privacy risks and data management problems.
* Identifying, authenticating, and authorizing entities.
* Development of trust frameworks for secure collaboration.
* New cryptographic primitives for constrained "things".
* Connecting heterogeneous ecosystems and technologies.
* Legal challenges and governance Issues.
* Resilience to external and internal attacks.
* Context-Aware security.
* Providing protection to an IP-connected IoT.
* Web services security and other application-layer issues.
* Security of cloud-based M2M/IoT platforms.
* Distributed policy enforcement and rights management.
* Usability of security and privacy technologies in the context of the
IoT.

HICSS-46 Call for papers for the minitrack on:
*"SOCIAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVES *
*IN COLLABORATION RESEARCH"*
/Part of the Collaboration Systems and Technology Track/
/of the Forty-Sixth Annual/
/Hawai'i International Conference on Systems Sciences (HICSS)/
*/Maui/*/, HI - January 7 - 10, 2013/
Papers are invited for the minitrack on "*Social &
Psychological Perspectives in Collaboration Research*" as
part of the Collaboration Systems and Technology Track at
the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS).
One of the major assets of any organization is its people.
Understanding of the people and their social, psychological,
cultural, and emotional environment helps organizations
develop systems and processes that can lead to a productive
workplace. Changes in technology, globalization, and
increased competition have all created an environment in
which an understanding of people is the critical link that
is needed in order to survive and thrive in today's
competitive environment.
Technology supported collaboration and communication between
individuals entails complex social and psychological
situations. An understanding of social and psychological
aspects of collaboration is essential to creating and
sustaining productive work environments. The use of
collaboration and communication systems and the consequences
of such use are framed by the psychological and social
factors concerning the users and their work environment. It
is important to understand these factors to successfully
facilitate the sustained implementation and use of these
technologies. Further, knowledge of the psycho-social
aspects of technology-supported collaboration and
communication also assists in detecting, avoiding, and
effectively resolving the issues that may arise from using
such technologies. Thus, it is essential to study the
psycho-social issues surrounding the design and usage of
these technologies.
Modern collaboration technologies, including but not limited
to Social Media and Web 2.0, offer various ways to connect,
collaborate, form communities, and share information and
knowledge. As many organizations are figuring out productive
ways to create value from collaborative networks,
researchers have intensified efforts to understand and
design ways in which communication technologies can support
both work-related and pleasure related activities. Such
research often involves or requires psychosocial perspectives.
Thus, this minitrack provides one of the key international
platforms to host research papers and presentations that
provide a social/psychological perspective on studying
issues related to the dynamic interplay between people,
their environment, and the collaboration technologies they
use. Some examples of areas which can be a part of the
minitrack include:
·Personality, behavioral, and social factors related to
communication and collaboration in co-located and
distributed groups
·Social and psychological effects of using systems to
support collaboration
·Attractions and affiliations in groups arising from use of
social networks
·Team/group psychology and use of communication technologies
·Effects and consequences of personality on system design
and use
·Psycho-social factors influencing acceptance and
implementation of collaboration technologies
·Virtual leadership and leadership at a distance
·Online aggression and violence
·Motivating employees to adopt, create, use collaborative
work practices
·Correlations between organizational performance and
attention to human capital
·Influence of communication technologies on perceptions of
self and others
·Emotion and networking technologies
·Social and interpersonal implications of communications
over cyberspace
·Internet dependencies and addictions
·Online evaluations and assessments of social and
psychological well being
·Interpersonal treatment with the use of online technologies
·Human Resource practices online (e.g. performance
appraisal, hiring and firing, job analysis)
·Altruism, conformity, and other social factors in online
communications
However, the above examples do not provide a comprehensive
overview. We invite any paper that contains original
research highlighting the human component in collaboration
and communication technologies. There are no preferred
methodological stances for this minitrack: this minitrack is
open to both qualitative and quantitative research, to
research from a positivist, interpretivist, or critical
perspective, to studies from the lab, from the field,
design-oriented or developmental in nature.
Broad themes and topics of relevance to this minitrack
include, but are not limited to (related topics not listed
are especially welcome):
·Social psychology (e.g. Motivation, Trust, Social learning,
Self efficacy, Behavioral theories)
·Organizational psychology (e.g. Self monitoring,
Interpersonal treatment, OCBs, Globalization)
·Cultural psychology
·Personality
·Leadership
·Prejudice and discrimination
·Attitudes and social intelligence
·Violence and aggression
·Attractions and affiliations in groups
·Group psychology (e.g. Social loafing,
·Mood and emotions
·Diversity
·Internet use and social/psychological well being
·Sexual harassment
·Performance appraisal
