Dear Gustaf Neumann,
ICEIS 2012 (the 14th International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems) welcomes the submission of position papers whose deadline is set for next April 9.
A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. It is, nevertheless, important to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims. A position paper may be a short report and discussion of ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research (bibliographic, experimental, theoretical, or other) focused on one of the conference topics.
The acceptance of a position paper is restricted to the categories of "short paper" or "poster". Please check further details about position papers submission at the conference website (http://www.iceis.org/SubmissionGuidelines.aspx).
The conference will be sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and co-organized by the Wroclaw University of Economics. It will be held in cooperation with the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), the Institute of Electronics and Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) and IEICE Special Interest Group on Software Interprise Modelling (SWIM). INSTICC is Member of the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) and Object Management Group (OMG).
ICEIS is interested in promoting high quality research as it can be confirmed by last year acceptance rates, where from 402 submissions, 14 were accepted as full papers. Additionally, 30 were presented as short papers and 11 as posters.
Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All accepted papers (full, short and posters) will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support. CQBX
A short list of presented papers will be selected so that revised and extended versions of these papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in a LNBIP Series book
The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by Thomson, INSPEC, DBLP and EI.
Best paper awards will be distributed during the conference closing session. Please check the website for further information (http://www.iceis.org/BestPaperAward.aspx).
All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SciTePress Digital Library (http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/). SciTePress is a member of CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org/).
ICEIS 2012 will be held in conjunction with ENASE (International Conference on Evaluation of Novel Approaches to Software Engineering - http://www.enase.org/) in Wroclaw, Poland. Registration to ICEIS will enable free attendance to any sessions of ENASE conference as a non-speaker.

Fast growing emerging economies, including transition economies, are
often considered the growth engine of the global economy. Unfortunately,
despite the fast growth of emerging economies, the economic gap between
emerging economies and the mature, developed countries still exists. It
seems that in order to truly close this gap, new management techniques,
new business models, and new regulatory policies, among other factors
are needed. Moreover, it could be expected that information and
communication technologies (ICTs) will play a vital role in this process.
Thus, the objective of this conference is to provide a forum for
interested researchers and practitioners for exchanging their creative
ideas on these issues.
Possible contributions regarding the ICT management for global
competitiveness and economic growth in emerging economies may include,
but are not limited to, the following:
1. Social, political and legal frameworks and ICT Management in emerging
and transition economies
2. Unique ICT management techniques for emerging and transition economies
3. Methods for measuring the benefits and costs of projects involving
the adoption of ICT
4. The role of human and social capital
5. Innovative ways for generating revenues creating commercial knowledge
products in emerging and transition economies
6. Educational systems and ICT Management in emerging and transition
economies
7. ICT to support small and medium firms in emerging and transition
economies
8. ICT management in small businesses as a path to economic growth
9. ICT productivity studies at the country, industry or firm level, with
specific reference to the social and business conditions prevalent in
emerging or transition economies
10. Global supply chain management and its contribution to emerging and
transition economies
11. Country specific case studies, with specific reference to the social

A Pre-ECIS and AIS SIG Prag Workshop on
*IT Artefact Design & Workpractice Intervention*
June 10, 2012, Barcelona
---------- */Extended time for submission: April 1 /*----------*//*
*Invitation*
An international workshop for IS scholars interested in one or more of
the following related issues:
·design science research
·theorizing the IT artefact
·action research and other intervention strategies
·theorizing practices and work-systems
·the use of action-oriented theories in IS
·practice relevance and usefulness of IS research
·researcher-practitioner collaboration
·engaged scholarship
·practice research
·pragmatist epistemology
There is a growing interest in IS research for research strategies
aiming for design and change. This can be pursued through design science
research (Hevner et al, 2004), action research (Davison et al, 2004) or
combinations thereof (Sein et al, 2011). Accompanying an interest for
the design of IT artefacts is a quest for theorizing the IT artefact
(Orlikowski & Iacono, 2001). Improved understanding of IT artefacts is
needed in relation to their design, use and evolution. An improved
understanding of the context of IT artefacts is needed as well. There is
growing interest to theorize the context as practices (Feldman &
Orlikowski, 2011; Goldkuhl, 2011) or work-systems (Alter, 2006). This
includes an interest for the combined social and material characters of
such practices (Orlikowski & Scott, 2008).
The interest for design and change follows the claim for relevance and
usefulness of IS research (Benbasat & Zmud, 1999) and the importance of
researcher-practitioner collaboration (Mathiassen, 2002). This kind of
research orientation have been giving different labels like e.g. engaged
scholarship (Van de Ven, 2007; Mathiassen & Nielsen, 2008), mode 2
knowledge production (Nowotny et al, 2001), practice research
(Mathiassen, 2002; Goldkuhl, 2011) or practical science (Gregor, 2008).
Pivotal in this search for more relevant and useful research is the
articulation of supportive, prescriptive and normative knowledge. This
can take the form of design theory (Gregor & Jones, 2007) or the broader
notion of practical theory (Cronen, 2001; Goldkuhl, 2007).
In order to bring these different threads together we must turn to
pragmatist epistemology. There is a re-introduction of pragmatism as a
viable research paradigm in some social sciences (Wicks & Freeman, 1998;
Fishman, 1999) including information systems (Goles & Hirschheim, 2000;
Ågerfalk, 2010; Goldkuhl, 2012) as manifested by the formation of the
AIS Special Interest Group on Pragmatist IS Research (SIGPRag) in 2008
(www.sigprag.org). The pragmatist foundations of design science research
(Lee & Nickerson, 2010) and action research (Baskerville & Myers, 2004)
have also been acknowledged.
Pragmatist epistemology joins together the different threads described
above:
·Knowledge in the making
·Relevant and useful knowledge
·Knowledge of actions and practices
The purpose of this workshop is to bring together scholars interested in
one or more of these pragmatist threads. This is done in order to weave
a pragmatist web to be more powerful in its knowledge generation and
use. Theoretical reflections and concrete examples are demanded!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC) is the primary
conference on the use of semantic technologies on the web and linked
data, constantly attracting a high number of high quality submissions
participants from academia and industry. It brings together
researchers from different areas of computer science, like artificial
intelligence, databases, natural language processing, information
retrieval and others that aim at the development and use of novel
technologies for accessing, interpreting and using information on the
web in a more effective way. Besides the main technical programme,
ISWC will host a number of workshops on topics related to the general
theme of the conference. The role of the workshops is to provide a
context for an intensive scientific exchange among researchers
interested in a particular topic. The workshops should provide the
opportunity to present and discuss ongoing work and new ideas in
subfield of the Semantic Web/Linked Data research.
Topics of Interest
----------------------------
In order to meet these goals, workshops should address topics that
satisfy the following criteria:
- the topic falls in the general scope of ISWC 2012
- there is a clear focus on a specific technology, problem or application
- there is a sufficiently large community interested in the topic
In particular, we encourage the submission of workshop proposals on:
- fundamental problems of the Semantic Web/Linked Data such as
ontology mining, heterogeneity, scalability and distribution,
uncertainty
- applications of Semantic Web Technologies in specific domains and trends
- important enabling technologies and their adaptation to the needs
of the Semantic Web
- aspects of Semantic Web Research that have been neglected so far
techniques from other research fields that are of relevance for
Semantic Web research (e.g., machine learning, NLP)
Submission Guidelines
-------------------------------------
Workshop proposals should be submitted via EasyChair
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iswc2012ws
The proposal should be a single PDF file of no more than 5 pages and
should contain the following information:
- Title.
- Abstract (200 words)
- Motivation on why the topic is of particular interest at this time.
- Workshop format, discussing the mix of events such as paper
presentations, invited talks, panels, and general discussion.
- Intended audience and expected number of participants.

teaching and in tutorial presentation.
Additionally
--------------------
- we strongly advise having more than one organizer, preferably from
different institutions, bringing different perspectives to the
workshop topic.
- we welcome workshops with creative structures and organizations
that attract various types of contributions and ensure rich
interactions.
Proposers of accepted workshops have to prepare a workshop webpage
containing the call for papers and detailed information about the
workshop organization and timelines. The workshop organizers will be
responsible for their own reviewing process, for publicity, and for
publishing electronic proceedings (e.g., on the CEUR-WS website). They
will be required to closely cooperate with the Workshops Chairs and
the ISWC 2012 local organizers to finalize all details mentioned here.

Enterprise Modelling and Information Systems Architectures (EMISA)
An International Journal
Call for Papers for the Special Issue on the
'Design, Implementation and Evaluation of Modelling Tools'
Deadline for submission of an extended abstract: April 16, 2012
Deadline for submission of the final manuscript: June 4, 2012
Editors of the Special Issue
Ulrich Frank, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany
Andreas Oberweis, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany
Stefan Strecker, University of Hagen, Germany
http://www.wi-inf.uni-duisburg-essen.de/MobisPortal/pages/specialissues/CfP…
Description of Special Issue
The effective and efficient use of conceptual modelling methods and
modelling languages presupposes the availability of corresponding
modelling tools. Modelling tools represent a class of software systems
aimed at supporting modellers in constructing, documenting and
maintaining conceptual (meta) models and, at the same time, at
fostering integrity of models. Particularly with regard to
domain-specific modelling (DSM) approaches, the development of
graphical modelling tools has gained importance to support model-based
analyses and to realise a model-driven software development cycle. The
design, implementation and evaluation of modelling tools raises
particular software engineering and modelling challenges pertaining,
for instance, to model and diagram management, consistency and syntax
checking, synchronous and asynchronous collaborative modelling,
inter-tool diagram exchange, and model version control. Users of
modelling tools are faced by particular challenges resulting, for
instance, from partly subtle interdependencies between modelling tool,
its meta modelling environment, and the specification as well as
application of modelling languages.
This Special Issue is dedicated to capturing the current state-of-the
art in the area of modelling tool research with a focus on methodical
development of modelling tools. We strongly encourage submissions that
go beyond 'yet another modelling tool' and invite submissions that
address research challenges and direct further research. It is
expected that the submissions are based on sound methodical,
theoretical, conceptual-analytical and, where appropriate, hermeneutic
and/or behaviouristic approaches (e. g. case study-based
research). Submissions may not have been submitted or be under
consideration elsewhere and must constitute original work. It is
possible to submit a major revision of a manuscript already published
in workshop or conference proceedings given that the earlier
publication is properly referenced. In addition, it must be clearly
described and/or marked which parts of the manuscript have been
revised and of what nature the changes are.
Topics of interests to this Special Issue include but are not limited
to:
Software development methods dedicated to the development of modelling
tools,
Systems architectures and architecture modelling for modelling tools,
Automated modelling tool generation and corresponding theoretical,
technical and practical challenges,
Interdependencies between modelling tool, its meta modelling
environment, and the specification of modelling languages,
Approaches to bridge the gap between modelling languages and
implementation languages,
Modelling tools for collaborative modelling and solutions to
corresponding software development challenges,
Design patterns and rules with respect to modelling tool development,
Economic analysis of modelling tools and their development,
especially under consideration of free and open source software
frameworks and platforms,
Challenges in modelling tool development and potential solution
candidates (e.g., layout algorithms, model versioning, distributed
modelling, tool usability),
Evaluation and critical review of modelling tools, their
architectures, underlying frameworks and platforms,
The use of modelling tools in organizations.
Experience reports and case studies on modelling tool development,
evaluation, and use in practical applications are encouraged as well
and will be considered for the special EMISA category of articles,
'Guidelines for Successful Practice', intended to foster the
application of modelling methods and languages in organizations.
Important dates:
2012-03-31: Optional submission of an extended abstract (max. 4 pages;
motivation of research, research method, related work, key results).
Submissions of an extended abstract is strongly recommended.
2012-05-01: Deadline for submission of manuscripts.
Instructions for authors including guidelines for manuscript
preparation are available online. Authors are asked for electronic
submissions via the submission management system available at
http://www.wi-inf.uni-duisburg-essen.de/ojs/. In case of multiple
authors, it is required to name one author who uploads the
submission. The submission should include a cover page with the
paper's title and the names, affiliations and e-mail addresses of all
authors. The first page of the paper starts with the title and does
not carry the authors' names. Submissions must be completely anonymous
(including document metadata). Submitted manuscripts are accepted
either in MS-Word or PDF format. A LaTeX template is
available. Submissions should not exceed 7.000 words. In addition to
the paper, an abstract (around 150 words) has to be
provided. Submitted papers will be reviewed within no more than two
months. The review process is double blind. Authors who submit a
manuscript guarantee that it has not been published elsewhere, nor is
intended to be published elsewhere. Papers that were accepted for
publication must be written according to the style defined for the
journal. Please keep in mind that the journal EMISA uses British
English.

This special track will take place during ICL 2012 in in Villach,
Austria (26 - 28 September 2012) as a special programme item.
/The Special Track CAF 2012/provides an interdisciplinary forum for
international scientists and practitioners to discuss various aspects of
computer-based knowledge & skill assessment in learning settings and
based on that feedback provision for students and teachers. This year
CAF is organized in cooperation with the European funded project ALICE
(Adaptive Learning via Intuitive/Interactive, Collaborative and
Emotional System), http://www.aliceproject.eu.
The /International Conference on Interactive Computer aided Learning
(ICL)/ is an interdisciplinary conference which aims to focus on the
exchange of relevant trends and research results as well as the
presentation of practical experiences in interactive computer aided
learning.
*Background*
Our modern life at the beginning of the 21st century is strongly
influenced by effects such as rapidly changing and developing
information, technology-enhanced communication and information access,
and new forms of production and services in a globalized world. This
situation requires individuals to adapt their skills and competencies.
Consequently, educational objectives and societal expectations have
changed significantly in recent years. Modern learning settings must
consider learning community aspects as well as learner-centered,
knowledge-centered and assessment-centered aspects.
By focusing on the assessment, this concept can be further distinguished
in (1) summative assessment, performed at the end of a set of learning
activities, and (2) formative assessment, which is intended to give
continuous feedback to students and teachers. The latter mentioned
formative assessment gives information about the current state of
knowledge and/or the degree of knowledge acquisition within learning
activities.
Assessment is an important component of modern teaching and learning
processes in face-to-face courses as well as in e-learning environments;
it provides valuable feedback to teachers and students which allows the
revision and adaptation of teaching and learning activities.
Furthermore, assessment activities and results can also be utilized for
building and strengthening metacognitive skills. However, continuous and
frequent assessment in learning processes may cause excessive efforts
and costs. Therefore, computer-assisted assessment systems (CaAS) and
computer-based assessment systems (CbAS) have become of increasing
interest over the years. Assessment systems may support parts or the
entire chain of the assessment lifecycle. This lifecycle includes
authoring and management of assessment items, compilation of specific
tests, performance of assessments, and compilation and management
results. Additionally, emerging interest in the sharing and re-use of
assessment items or compiled assessment tests and the exchangeability of
assessment outcomes has resulted in standardization efforts, such as the
IMS Question & Test Interoperability Specification (IMS QTI).
The special track will bring together international researchers as well
as practitioners from different organisations who will have plenty of
time for networking and real-world knowledge sharing.
CAF is interested in novel scientific research, findings from
experiments and results from real-life applications. We invite
submissions that deal with issues including, but not limited to:
* Aspects of formative and summative assessment
* History and challenges of e-assessment
* Computer-supported assessment rubric
