OSS 2012 Call For Contributions
-------------------------------
The 8th International Conference on Open Source Systems
(http://oss2012.org/)
Hammamet, Tunisia, 10-13 September 2012
Scope of OSS 2012
-----------------
Over the past two decades, Free/Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) has introduced new successful models for creating, distributing, acquiring and using software and software-based services. Inspired by the success of FLOSS, other forms of open initiatives have been gaining momentum. Open source systems (OSS) now extend beyond software to include open access, open documents, open science, open education, open government, open cloud, open hardware, open artworks and museum exhibits, open innovation and more. On the one hand, the openness movement has created new kinds of opportunities such as the emergence of new business models, knowledge exchange mechanisms, and collective development approaches. On the other hand, the movement has introduced new kinds of challenges, especially as different problem domains embrace openness as a pervasive problem solving strategy. OSS can be complex yet widespread and often cross-cultural. Consequently, they require an interdisciplinary unders
tanding of their technical, economic, legal and socio-cultural dynamics.
The goal of 8th International Conference on Open Source Systems, OSS 2012, the first to be held in Africa, is to provide an international forum where a diverse community of professionals from academia, industry and public sector, and diverse OSS initiatives can come together to share research findings and practical experiences. The conference is also meant to provide information and education to practitioners, identify directions for further research, and to be an ongoing platform for technology transfer, no matter which form of OSS is being pursued.
OSS 2012 accepts submissions in the following categories: research papers, industry papers, formal tool demonstrations, lightning talks and posters. OSS 2012 also invites proposals for tutorials and workshops, submissions to the doctoral symposium, and submissions of panels. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings, which are published by Springer. The major conference theme is long-term sustainability with OSS.
Topics of Interest
------------------
OSS sustainability
- Sustainability models of OSS
- Building sustainable OSS communities
- Role of OSS in ICT and sustainable development
- Mining sustainability related data from OSS communities
- Experience reports and lessons on sustainable OSS ecosystems
OSS as innovation

closest one to Europe and Africa, a modern and joyful city,
born between its rivers and the sea, adorned by dunes and
lots of green trees. A land of colors and flavors where one
can find pleasure and adventure. It is summer here all year
long, on a littoral of wonderful beaches, lagoons, semi-arid
backland, cuisine, rides, art and culture that was never
seen before, all allied to its people?s natural hospitality.

Deadline for submissions: 15. April 2012:
Co-located with the 42. Jahrestagung of the German Gesellschaft für Informatik
e.V. , 16-21.September 2012, Braunschweig, Germany
Summary
-------
This full-day workshop focuses on practical and theoretical consequences
of the approach to describe business interactions within the framework of
protocol theory.
Content
-------
The relevance of software directly involved in business interactions has
enormously grown in modern commerce within the last years.
Therefore, it is an obvious requirement that business software which
supports business interactions should mirror the orientation of
entrepreneurial acting along the business interactions in the simplest
possible way.
To become runtime relevant from an application perspective, the interpre-
tation of the descriptions of business interactions has to be unambiguously
related to computational systems.
We expect a promising impetus with respect to the automated implementation
of business interactions. Especially small and medium enterprises should
benefit as they are currently discouraged to explore this area by the still
high initial investments.
The starting point of this workshop is the assumption that economics with
its game theory based notion describes the same interactions as computer
science does with its descriptions of nondeterministic interactions of
business processes. Due to the tight formal relation between (economic)
game and (computer science) protocol, it is obvious to use the protocol
notion not just for informal illustrations, as many contemporary approaches
do, but also to view protocol theory as a sound formal base for the descrip-
tion of business interactions in the sense of a theory for consistent finite
interaction of (possibly finite) systems.
Adressees
---------
This workshop brings together scientist of the field of business informatics
with a special interest in business interactions and scientist of the more
theoretical oriented field of protocol theory. We therefore invite scientific
contributions which demonstrate the relevance of protocol theory for the
formal description of nondeterministic business interactions either in
practical or theoretical respect, if applicable with a relation to game theory.

Special Issue on Security and Identity Architecture for the Future Internet
As the Internet is hitting its limits, its successor is being discussed
in different fora such as the Next Generation Internet (NGI) and the
Future Internet Assembly (FIA). Government funding programs have been
established for instance in Europe, Japan, Korea, and the US to foster
the research addressing challenges of future networks including
scalability, mobility, service provisioning, and, in particular,
identity management. One crucial requirement for any solution is that
security and privacy be an integral part of the design. We invite
authors to submit original research and review articles that explore
different identity aspects to address the limitation of the Internet
and/or offer potential solutions and models for the design of future
networks where security and privacy are built-in.
Potential topics regarding security and identity include, but are not
limited to:
Development and testing of novel and effective advanced
architectures for the Future Internet
Development of new strategies for Future Internet models
Information-centric networking (ICN) approaches
Experiences with deployment and testbeds
Future Internet architectures’ resiliency and trustworthiness
"Clean-slate" multi-disciplinary research on new architectures
Internet of Things
Submissions will be judged based on their originality, novelty, and
quality. Submissions must not substantially overlap with papers that
have previously published or are currently submitted for publication.
