Aim and Scope
---------------------
Advanced data-intensive computing represents an active area of research that
spans across a significant number of research topics ranging from
traditional parallel and distributed computing to recent Grid and Cloud
computing. All these high-performance paradigms share a common emphasis that
focuses on the issue of effectively and efficiently representing, managing
and distributing large-size and large-scale data that populate their
internal layers. This conveys to the well-known term "data-intensive
computing", which represents an emerging challenge in next-generation
computing systems.
Data-intensive computing has recently been of great interest for the
research community, mainly driven by modern research initiatives such as big
data management, analytics over large-scale data, very-large scientific data
management, social network data management, and so forth. There exists a
wide range of application scenarios where data-intensive computing is
relevant: scientific data management, bio-medical data management, sensor
and stream data management, environmental data management, and so forth.
While traditional challenges of sensor and stream processing
(bounded-memory, single-pass processing, blocking query operators,
multi-rate arrivals, and so forth) affect managing, updating and querying
exact sensor and stream databases, additional challenges arise when dealing
with novel uncertain sensor and stream databases. Hence, innovative models,
algorithms and techniques for managing, updating and querying uncertain
sensor and stream databases must be devised, perhaps embedding probabilistic
or statistical approaches.
Managing these kinds of data poses critical and still-unsolved issues,
mostly represented by the enormous size of data and the exponential
scaling-up of data over growing-in-size inputs and requirements. A reliable
solution to these issues comes from the usage of advanced computational
paradigms, like MapReduce, and infrastructures, like Clouds. A necessary
step towards the successfully achievement of this goal is represented by the
need for innovative methods and algorithms for advanced data-intensive
computing, as classical proposals appeared in traditional areas like
parallel and distributed computing are clearly inadequate to cope with the
requirements dictated by modern data-intensive scenarios.
With these goals in mind, the proposed Future Generation Computer Systems
(FGCS) special issue will cover theoretical as well as practical aspects of
models and algorithms for advanced data-intensive computing on
high-performance computational infrastructures like Grids and Clouds.
Relevant research areas for the proposed FGCS special issue include, but are
not limited to, the following ones:
- foundations of advanced data-intensive computing;
- advanced data-intensive computing models;
- advanced data-intensive computing methodologies;
- advanced data-intensive computing techniques;

------
SCOPE
------
Several developments, such as the success of cloud-computing show that
not the ownership of IT resources but their management is the foundation
for sustainable competitive advantage . According to Ross et al. , smart
companies define how they (will) do business (using an operating model)
and design the processes and infrastructure critical to their current
and future operations (using an enterprise architecture).
Enterprise Engineering (EE) is the application of engineering principles
to the design of Enterprise Architectures. It allows deriving the
Enterprise Architecture from the enterprise goals and strategy and
aligning it with the enterprise resources as shown in Figure 1,
Enterprise architecture aims (i) to understand the interactions and all
kind of articulations between business and information technology, (ii)
to define how to align business components and IT components, as well as
business strategy and IT strategy, and more particularly (iii) to
develop and support a common understanding and sharing of those purposes
of interest. Enterprise architecture is used to map the enterprise goal
and strategy to the enterprise’s resources (actors, assets, IT supports)
and to take into account the evolution of this mapping. It also provides
documentation on the assignment of enterprise resources to the
enterprise goals and strategy.
There are different paradigms for creating enterprise architecture. The
most important is to encapsulate the functionalities of IT resources as
services. By this means, it is possible to clearly describe the
contributions of IT both in terms of functionality and quality and to
define a service-oriented enterprise architecture (SoEA). SoEA easily
integrates wide-spread technological approaches such as SOA or emerging
ones as cloud computing because they also use service as structuring and
governing paradigm. The enterprise goals and strategies are mapped to a
SoEA.
SoEA differentiates four layers of services. Thus, its scope is much
broader than the scope of SOA and also includes services not accessible
through software such as business and infrastructure services. Services
of different layers may be interconnected in service (value) nets to
provide higher level services.
1. Business services are services, which directly support business
processes. Business processes can also be developed dynamically
(on-the-fly) using business services which are available in a repository
for a given business domain. An example is call-centre services provided
by an external service provider.
2. Software services exist as two types: (i) human-oriented
applications, which are provided as Software as a Service, (ii)
application services which are part of so-called SOA that are a popular
paradigm for creating enterprise software.
3. Platform Services provide support of the development of applications.
They provide services for the execution of applications, middleware
stacks, web servers etc.
4. Infrastructure services are more hardware-flavoured services, which
are provided using computers. They may have a human addressee but
contain many infrastructure services such as providing computing power,
storage etc. They are an important topic in management and practice
collections such as ITILV3 or standards such as ISO/IEC 20000 have
gained a high popularity.
------
GOALS
------
The goal of the workshop is to develop concepts and methods to assist
the engineering and the management of service-oriented enterprise
architectures and the software systems supporting them. Especially four
themes of research shall be pursued:
1. Alignment of the enterprise goals and strategies with the
service-oriented enterprise architecture

resources
---------------------
TOPICS OF DISCUSSION
---------------------
During the workshop we will discuss the following topics:
1. Alignment of the enterprise goals and strategy with the SoEA
- Which interdependencies exist between services and business strategy?
- Which concepts and methods are necessary to align services with the
business strategy?

services?
- How are non-functional requirements derived from enterprise goals and
strategy?
- How are services aligned with non-functional requirements?
- How are services aligned with compliance requirements?
- Are the compliance and governance requirements enforced using SoEA?
2. Design of SoEA
- How are business, software, platform and infrastructure services defined?
- How are business services assigned to business processes?
- How are business services assigned to non-functional requirements?
- How do meta-services differentiate for business, software, platform
and infrastructure services?
- How are appropriate meta-services designed?
- Which phases do the lifecycle of business, software, platform and
infrastructure services contain?
- How can the fulfilment of non-functional requirements be monitored?
- Which benchmarks and key performance indicators should be applied to
services?
- Which approaches exist for the continual improvement of services?
3. SoEA and Cloud-Computing
- How does SoEA interrelate with cloud computing?
- How are Enterprise Architectures designed using cloud-services?
- How differ cloud-services from other kinds of services?
- How are Enterprise Architectures designed using cloud-environments?
- Which meta-services are necessary for cloud-environments?
- How are service (value) nets -consisting of business, software,
platform and infrastructure services- created?
4. Mapping of SoEA to enterprise resources
- Which resources are relevant for SoEA?
- How are services mapped to enterprise resources?
- Which approaches exist to map services to resources?
- Which information system architectures are adequate for services?
- How can non-functional requirements be mapped to capacity planning of
resources?
-----------
SUBMISSION
-----------
Full papers (8-10 pages in the IEEE-CS format) describing mature results
are sought. In addition, short papers (4 pages in the IEEE-CS format)
may be submitted to initiate discussion around ideas or preliminary
research results and ongoing projects. The paper selection will be based
upon the relevance of a paper to the main topics, as well as upon its
quality and potential to generate relevant discussion. All contributions
will be peer reviewed based on the complete version, being full or
short. The review process for the two types of papers will be different
because of their distinct purposes.
All papers published in the EDOC 2012 workshop proceedings must be in
the IEEE Computer Society format
(http://www2.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting). It is strongly
recommended that all papers are already in this format when they are
first submitted to workshops. This gives precise picture of the paper
length and avoids rework if the paper is accepted.
Please submit your paper to Easychair at
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=soea4ee2012
At least one author of each accepted workshop paper will have to
register for the whole EDOC 2012 conference and attend the workshop to
present the paper. Analogously to previous years, there will be no
workshop-only registration at EDOC 2012. If a paper is not presented in
the workshop, it will be removed from the workshop proceedings published
in the IEEE Xplore digital library.
The SoEA4EE workshop has been a full day workshop in conjunction with
EDOC’09 in New Zealand, with EDOC’10 in Brasil and with EDOC’11 in Finland.

-----------------
EXPECTED RESULTS
-----------------
All papers will be published in the workshop wiki (www.soea4ee.org)
before the workshop, so that everybody can learn about the problems that
are important for other participants. The workshop will consist of long
and short paper presentations, brainstorming sessions and discussions. A
workshop report will be created collaboratively using the workshop wiki.

ZWEITER CALL FOR PAPERS
=======================
(Aufruf zur Einreichung von Beiträgen)
Thema: Qualitätsmanagement und Vorgehensmodelle
-----------------------------------------------
Workshoptermin: 11./12.09.2012
Ort: Information und Technik NRW (IT.NRW), Düsseldorf
Webseite: http://www.vorgehensmodelle.de
Inhaltliche Ausrichtung
-----------------------
besonders hohe Bedeutung zugemessen. Der Workshop des Jahres 2012 hat
den Themenschwerpunkt "Qualitätsmanagement und Vorgehensmodelle". Er
wird in Kooperation mit der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Qualität e.V.
(DGQ), Information und Technik Nordrhein-Westfalen (IT.NRW),
dem Bundesverwaltungsamt, der GPM Region Düsseldorf/ Rhein-Ruhr und der
GI Regionalgruppe Düsseldorf durchgeführt.
Trotz aller präzisen Definitionen wird Qualität häufig völlig
unterschiedlich interpretiert.
treffen?
Das Thema Qualitätsmanagement in Organisationen und Projekten und seine
Beziehung zu Vorgehensmodellen kann aus vielen verschiedenen
Perspektiven diskutiert werden. Erbeten werden daher Beiträge, welche
die Abhängigkeiten zwischen Qualitätsmanagement und Vorgehensmodellen
beleuchten und aufzeigen, wie sich Qualitätsmanagement
und Vorgehensmodelle positionieren und integrieren.
Themenvorschläge
----------------

Background and Rational
=======================
The information systems literature has consistently emphasized the need
for alignment of information systems with organizational goals and
strategies and its impact on organizational performance. One of the key
challenges and subject of continuous debate focuses on how to achieve,
measure, increase and manage information and the value it creates to
organisations. It has been concern to researchers and management for
many years and the difficulty in measuring less tangible benefits has
been emphasized.
Information creates not only value in financial terms but also in terms
of operational and strategic advantages. Thus exploring the value of
information and its management is crucial to the success of
world-leading organizations. The value of information can be determined
by its
importance to and the impact information has on the business operations
such as decision making, strategy development or optimizing supply
chains. However, the issue of how to manage the value of information is
still challenging and research so far could only address limited
aspects. It has been argued that if information result in enhanced
business value, the focus needs to shift from project based cost/benefit
analysis to managing the overall value creation of information.
Furthermore, over the last decade a move from solely technical aspects
to a combination of multiple contextual factors such as technology,
sector, organizational culture, and management style can be observed.
With this workshop we aim to go beyond traditional IT productivity and
cost evaluations; we view information as a crucial asset that creates
value to an organizations, and thus needs to be managed accordingly for
optimal business value. In this workshop, we aim to provide a platform
for discussing approaches, models, results and case studies or
experience reports addressing a broad range of issues related to
Information Value Management. Research challenges include how to
determine the Value of Information and its impact on business
performance, managing Data and Information Quality, capturing and
maintaining Information Assets, and designing and improving Information
Manufacture System.
Papers can include and discuss various research methods and can be based
on case studies, quantitative and quantitative methods, design science
as well as experimental and simulation. In addition practical oriented
research and experience reports are encouraged.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following list:
==================
Determining Information Value
Data and Information Quality
Specifying and Measuring the Benefits from Information
Information Value Chains
Information Manufacture and Information Product
Optimising Information Value
Information Lifecycle Concepts
Modelling and Visualising Information Manufacturing Systems
Information Risk Management
Data Integration and Value Creation
