Track: Decision Support, Data Management Systems, Knowledge Management,
and Business Intelligence (SIGDSS)
Mini-Track Title:Collaboration Systems and Virtual Work Groups
*DESCRIPTION*
With the globalization of business, virtual work groups have become
indispensable for many business organizations.Although virtual work
groups offer enormous potential to share skills and knowledge of
dispersed individuals, several challenges shape their performance. The
diversities of the team members, the complexities of the tasks, the time
zone differences, and the characteristics of the communicating media
pose critical challenges to establish effective collaboration in these
groups. In addition, the socio-emotional factors, such as cohesion and
trust influence the performance of virtual work groups. Finally, as
collaboration systems enable the functioning of the virtual work groups,
it is important to understand how the functionalities of these systems
affect the performance of virtual work groups.Although prior research in
information systems (IS) has addressed some of these issues, a cohesive
body of knowledge on collaborative systems and virtual work groups is
yet to emerge. This mini-track provides a platform to achieve this objective.

_AMCIS 2012 __Minitrack Proposal_
Information Systems for Sustainable Business Practices and their
Organizational Adoption
18th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2012)
09 - 12 August 2011, Seattle, Washington, USA, http://amcis2012.aisnet.org/
Track: Green IS: Building Research Programs and Designing Curricula
Green IS and sustainable business practices have increasingly found
their way into the agenda of researchers and practitioners.Green IS
relates to both, infrastructures and organizational aspects of
environmental technology. Sustainable business practices include Green
IS but entail a more general view, considering people, processes,
software, and information technology to support individual,
organizational, and societal objectives. Information in general and
information systems in particular, can play an important role in
supporting sustainable business practices, e.g. regarding supply chains,
life cycle analyses, recycling, or resource consumption (including
energetic and non-energetic resources). This minitrack focuses on the
one hand on the design of artifacts that support sustainable business
practices and on the other hand on measures to ensure their
organizational adoption. The environmental awareness of IS managers is
one of the potential starting points for future investigations. The IS
discipline is challenged to provide insights into how organizations can
leverage their IS capabilities to effectively address environmental
issues while simultaneously considering economic imperatives such as
management of risk and return, and competitive advantage. Decisions
related to sustainable business practices, inevitably, will be strategic
in nature, with fundamental changes across organizations, and IS can
play a central role in this effort.
*__*
We invite contributions from a broad spectrum including business
information systems, engineering, management, operations research,
applied computer science, and economics in order to fully incorporate
technical and business aspects. We also invite practitioners that will
enrich the discussions through their business experiences.
*_Important Dates_*
Mar 1, 2012: Deadline for paper submissions
April 2, 20012: Authors will be notified of acceptances on or about this
date
April 20, 2012: For accepted papers, camera ready copy due
*_Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:_*
IS for sustainable business practices:
-Green supply chain management & logistics
-Environmental management systems
-Life cycle analysis
-Reuse, recycling, remanufacturing
-Metals & minerals informatics
-Information Systems for green industrial eco-systems
Organizational adoption of sustainable business practices:
-Motivations for greening within organizations
-Organizational adoption of sustainably business practices
-Information systems for an environmental awareness
-Technologies greening organizations (e.g. mobile systems, cloud
computing, remote sensing)
-Green awareness and communication for formulating organizational strategy

17th Annual IEEE International Conference on the
Engineering of Complex Computer Systems (ICECCS)
July 18-20,2012
Ecole Normale Superieure, Paris - FRANCE
This conference is co-sponsored by the IEEE Technical Committee on
Complexity in Computing (TCCX) and the CESAMES non-profit organization

Submission deadline: February 15, 2012
--------------------------------------
The success of key human activities ranging from research and business to
everyday services relies on the use of ever more sophisticated,
feature-rich and complex computer systems. These complex computer systems
are regularly required to accomplish more, faster and on a broader scale,
to adapt dynamically to changing workloads, scenarios and objectives, and
to achieve guaranteed levels of performance and dependability. Satisfying
such demanding requirements in the presence of the variability,
heterogeneity and non-linear behaviour that characterise complex computer
systems poses numerous challenges to both their developers and their
users.
The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers, practitioners
and leading experts from academia and industry, to advance the state of
the art in the specification, development, validation and verification,
and management of complex computer systems.
Scope and topics:
================
Authors are invited to submit papers describing original, unpublished
research results, case studies and tools. Additionally, submissions of
poster papers are sought for two separate poster sessions: an "ongoing
research" poster session, and a "PhD research" poster session. Topics of
interest include but are not limited to the following aspects of complex
computer systems:
- Requirement specification and analysis
- Verification and validation
- Model-driven development
- Reverse engineering and refactoring
- Achitecture software
- Big Data Management
- Sensor Networks and Ubiquitous Computing
- Design by contract
- Agile methods
- Safety-critical& fault-tolerant architectures
- Adaptive, self-managing and multi-agent systems
- Real-time, hybrid and embedded systems
- Systems of systems
- Tools and tool integration
- Industrial case studies
Different kinds of contributions are sought, including novel research,
lessons learned, experience reports, and discussions of practical problems
faced by industry and user domains. The ultimate goal is to build a rich
and comprehensive conference program that can fit the interests and needs
of different classes of attendees: professionals, researchers, managers,
and students. A program goal is to organize several sessions that include
both academic and industrial papers on a given topic, and culminate with
panels to discuss relationships between industrial and academic research.
Full papers are divided into two categories: Technical Papers and
Experience Reports. The papers submitted to both categories will be
reviewed by program committee members, and papers accepted in either
category will be published in the conference proceedings. Technical papers
should describe original research, and experience reports should present
practical projects carried out in industry, and reflect on the lessons
learnt from them.
Poster paper submissions should specify in their abstract whether they
describe ongoing or PhD research. Both types of poster papers will be
reviewed by program committee members, and accepted posters will be
published in the conference proceedin
Submission of Papers:
====================
Submitted manuscripts should be in English and formatted in the style of
the IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Format. Papers should not exceed 10
pages for full papers and 2 pages for poster papers, including figures,
references, and appendices. All submissions should be in PDF format.
Submissions not adhering to the specified format and length may be
rejected immediately, without review.
See the submission guidelines on the conference website.
