You are cordially invited to submit your research work to
the 3rd Enterprise Engineering Working Conference (EEWC
2013). Please read and forward to whoever may be interested
the Call for Papers below which is also attached in TXT format.
3rd Enterprise Engineering Working Conference (EEWC 2013)
May, 13-14, 2013, Luxembourg, Luxembourg
Motivation
Modern enterprises face a strong pressure to increase
agility and competitiveness, to operate on the global
market, and to engage in manifold alliances. However, the
vast majority of strategic initiatives in enterprises fail,
meaning that enterprises are unable to gain success from
their strategy. The key reason for these failures is the
lack of coherence and consistency among the various
components of an enterprise. At the same time, the need to
operate as a unified and integrated whole is becoming
increasingly important. Currently, these challenges are
dominantly addressed from a functional or managerial
perspective, as advocated by the management and organization
sciences, and as implemented in MBA programs. Such knowledge
is indeed necessary for managing an enterprise, but it is
inadequate for bringing about changes in a fully systematic
and integrated way. To do that, one needs to take a
constructional or engineering perspective.
In addition, both organizations and software applications
are complex systems, prone to entropy. This means that in
the course of time, the costs of bringing about similar
changes increase in a way that is known as combinatorial
explosion. Entropy can be reduced and managed effectively
through modular design based on atomic elements.
Lastly, the individual persons in an enterprise, in
cooperation, are ultimately responsible for the effective
and efficient operation of the enterprise. They are also
collectively responsible for the evolution of the
enterprise, in order to meet new challenges. These
responsibilities can only be borne if members have an
appropriate knowledge and an effective awareness of the
construction of the enterprise.
Focus and Goal
The Enterprise Engineering Working Conference 2013 is the
third working conference in the emerging field of Enterprise
Engineering. The goal of the conference is to gather
academics and practitioners in order to share innovative
research issues and practical experiences, and to facilitate
profound discussions about the challenges mentioned above.
It is the mission of the discipline of Enterprise
Engineering to develop new, appropriate theories, models,
methods and other artifacts for the analysis, design,
implementation, and governance of enterprises by combining
(relevant parts of) management and organization science,
information systems science, and computer science. The
ambition is to address traditional topics in said
disciplines from the Enterprise Engineering Paradigm
<http://www.ciaonetwork.org/publications/EEManifesto.pdf>.
The result of the efforts should be theoretically rigorous
and practically relevant.

To: <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Call For Minitrack Proposals,
We invite the submission of minitrack proposals to the
Service Systems Track at the 19th Americas Conference on
Information Systems (AMCIS 2013), which will be held on
August 15-17, 2013 in Chicago. The AMCIS 2013 theme is

<mailto:spohrer@us.ibm.com>
Yong Jin Kim, Sogang University, yongjkim(a)sogang.ac.kr
<mailto:yongjkim@sogang.ac.kr>
Track Description:
The goal of this track is to further existing knowledge and
understanding of service systems, including service systems
design, productivity, quality, innovation, and offer
implications for research and practice. Modern life is
heavily dependent on service systems, such as
transportation, communications, health care, education,
government, finance, and even utilities. A service system
can be viewed as an organic mechanism that integrates
capabilities of people and technology to provision service
to customers, and modern service systems are heavily
dependent on information systems to operate efficiently and
effectively. Service systems are increasingly
hyperconnected to each other, linking customers, providers,
suppliers, partners, and regulators with shared, anywhere,
anytime access to their resources and capabilities. Service
management and design addresses the problems of service
provision for which the components of the system interact
with each other. Its design and operations goals include the
maximization of service quality, productivity, compliance
and sustainable innovation for all stakeholders engaged in
value co-creation activities. It is imperative to study the
very nature of service and its systems in the
knowledge-based economy. An integrated, multidisciplinary
perspective is required to develop a systematic way of
understanding the nature of service and to build an
integrated theory of service systems which facilitates
service innovation and improves service productivity. This
track aims to extend our understanding of service systems
and service networks to enhance the theoretical foundation
for future research and to provide guidance to practitioners.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- IT service management and service capability management
- Service systems innovation

CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Issue of the Journal of
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOR DEVELOPMENT
ICT in Transition Economies: Narrowing the Research Gap to Developed Countries
A considerable body of literature exists regarding the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICT) in developed economies. However, different challenges exist for emerging and transition economies that warrant a dedicated line of research. Emerging economies are countries with low to middle per capita income that are actively dedicated to economic development and substantial reforms in order to advance from the developing to the developed status. Transition economies are the particular case of the countries of the former eastern bloc and the countries that resulted from the breakup of the Soviet Union, which, within the last two decades, have abandoned communist style central planning systems for free markets.
The fast growing transition economies play an increasingly important role in the global economy, with ICT being a crucial driving force in this process. The objective of this special issue is to encourage more research in this topic by providing a forum for interested authors to disseminate their research, compare results, and exchange ideas.
We are seeking papers dealing with ICT that address the unique characteristics of transition economies in their various facets, such as business, technical, social, political, cultural, economical, and legal. Possible topics of interest to this special issue include but are not limited to the following:
* Design and deployment of ICT in small and medium enterprises;
* Success factors and barriers to ICT adoption;
* ICT governance and management (such as infrastructure management, application management, operations management, risk management);
* ICT economics (such as investment evaluation, benefits measurement, success assessment);
* Global ICT-related issues (such as supply chain management, off-shoring and outsourcing of systems and services, international ICT project management);
* E-government and e-democracy;
* ICT service systems for a service economy.

*BOOK CHAPTERS ARE INVITED:*
INNOVATIONS IN KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
Sub title: The impact of social media, semantic web and
cloud computing
/Editors: Gloria Phillips-Wren, Liana Razmerita and Lakhmi
C. Jain/
/Publisher: Springer-Verlag, Germany./
Novel technologies including social media, semantic web and
cloud computing have the potential to reinvent the
management of knowledge and communication inside and outside
the organisational borders. Recent innovations in knowledge
management have been associated with emerging concepts such
as enterprise 2.0, enterprise social software, knowledge
management 2.0, corporate semantic web, harnessing the
collective intelligence, and open innovation.These novel
technologies along with the associated emerging concepts are
recognized to be critical for creating competitive success
in a global business environment. For example, social media
can be exploited as a driver for innovation within and
outside the company?s boundaries. An important question to
be addressed in this book is: How companies may explore
these new ways of managing knowledge, communicating and
innovating in order to gain or maintain their competitive
advantage?
For this book, we seek chapters from both academia and
industry including case studies, novel architectures and
conceptual models combined with their evaluations in a
corporate context.
