2. Call for Papers
Software-Management 2008 - Industrialisierung des Software-Managements
Fachtagung des Fachausschusses Management der Anwendungsentwicklung und
-wartung im Fachbereich WI der GI
12.-14. November 2008 an der Universitaet Stuttgart
=========================================================================================================
Tagungsziel
datenbasierte Entscheidungsfindung, quantitatives Prozessmanagement
sowie Prozessstandardisierung die wesentliche Grundlage einer reifen
Industrie.
Die Industrialisierung der Softwareentwicklung schafft neue Aufgaben,
Herausforderungen, Verbesserungspotentiale und Anforderungen fuer das
Software-Management in Praxis und Wissenschaft. Ihnen widmet sich die
diesjaehrige Fachtagung Software-Management 2008.
diversen o. g. industriellen Prinzipien selber zielfuehrend adaptieren?
Forschungsergebnissen.

Hybridization of intelligent systems is a promising research field of modern
artificial/computational intelligence concerned with the development of the
next generation of intelligent systems. A fundamental stimulus to the
investigations
of Hybrid Intelligent Systems (HIS) is the awareness in the academic
communities that
combined approaches will be necessary if the remaining tough problems in
artificial/computational intelligence are to be solved. Recently, Hybrid
Intelligent Systems
are getting popular due to their capabilities in handling several real
world complexities

Use In Context
Between adaptivity and adaptation in context-based interactions
Workshop at the Informatik 2008
September 12, 2008
Munich, Bavaria, Germany
http://kalu.fernuni-hagen.de/Informatik2008/
Submission deadline: April 28, 2008
=======================================================
Context-based systems slowly emerge from research settings to usage
practice. Consequently, next to questions dealing with the
technological feasibility, questions dealing with the manageability
and transparency of context-based services from a user perspective
come to the fore. In particular, ubiquitous computing applications
help bridging between virtual and real-world context dimensions
(both, concerning virtual and real context sensors and virtual and
real context factors). The resulting system often remains
intransparent to users, it is not immediately accessible recurring
on conventionalized behavioural practices.
This workshop aims to contribute on the one hand to the collection
of use-oriented problems in context-based interaction. Furthermore,
we aim to discuss resulting implications regarding the technical
design of interfaces as well as soft- and hardware architectures.
Special attention is given to context modeling and implementation of
the various application scenarios as well as to the associated
possibilities of manual (adaptability) or automatic (adaptivity)
in-use-adjustment. A further special area of interest within a
user-oriented perspective is the understanding of problem dynamics
in scenarios with multiple-context systems and –technologies, and
problem dynamics of emergence or evolution of context-based systems.
We would like to invite in particular researchers and practitioners
to contributions dealing with the following questions:
- What practical experiences – positive as well as negative – have
been made with regard to the usage of context-based systems in real
organizational settings? What experiences have been made with
adaptation mechanisms (automatic as well as interactive) of such
systems in these settings?
- How can relations between context descriptions/models, context
sensors and context-based services become describable in a way that
they can be inform end users? What framing conditions apply for
interfaces that aim to achieve this?
- What experiences have been collected with ontologies and
folksonomies? How can systems be designed more practice-oriented?
- How can context architectures be effectively designed for
sustainable usages (Context evolution, context adaptation,
traceability for end-users)?
- How do architectures look like that are appropriate for the
realization of context-adaptive systems that remain modifyable
in-use? What services have to be provided by such a context-adaptive
system? What interfaces are needed for a context-dependent
adaptation of the system behavior?
The contributions should derive out of various application areas, such as
- Context-based Information Retrieval
- Location-based Services
- Mixed-Media Environments
- Tagging Systems, other Semantic Web Applications
- Mobility Services
- Knowledge Management and Knowledge Media Creation
- Community Applications
We request for contributions to those topics in relation to research
as well as practice.

vermehrt in Kritik geraten.
entwickelnden neuen sozio-technischen Beteiligungsinfrastruktur
Herausforderungen. In diesem Workshop geht es darum, entsprechende
Erfahrungen mit der „Erwünschtheit“ und „Beherrschbarkeit“ solcher
Systeme zusammenzutragen. Uns interessieren:
Beiträge über:
* Erfahrungen
* Anforderungen (technische, politische organisatorische, soziale)
* Probleme beim Einsatz und der Nutzung
* Betriebswirtschaftliche Aspekte
* Sicherheitsaspekte, technische Konzepte
* Akzeptanz, Usablility und demokratische Gestaltung
Zu Anwendungen wie:
* elektronische Wahlen,
* kommunale Webportale, Stadt-Wikis
* Bürgerportale, Bürgerhaushalte
* eCampainging, ePetition
* computer-unterstützte Partizipation in der Planung, Online
Deliberation
* politische Chatbots,
Teilnehmer des Workshops
Der Workshop spricht Wissenschaft und Praxis an. Er richtet sich an
Wissenschaftler (Doktoranden, young and senior researchers) aus

2nd CALL FOR PAPERS
"Special Track on Ontology Lifecycle Methods -
Algorithms for Ontology Learning, Evolution and Mining"
This one-day special track takes place during TRIPLE-I '08 in Graz, Austria
(3 - 5 September 2008) as part of I-SEMANTICS '08. The Special Track provides
an interdisciplinary forum for international scientists and practitioners to
discuss various aspects of Ontology Lifecycle Methods (OLM).
http://www.triple-i.tugraz.at/i_semantics/special_tracks/olm
Encoding human knowledge is one of the crucial tasks to be mastered towards
the realization of the Semantic Web. Knowledge is never static in a changing
world therefore a representation must evolve over time. The Ontology
Lifecycle involves all steps necessary for ontology creation, validation,
evolution and application in a dynamic environment.
The special track will focus on automatic and semi-automatic algorithms and
methods as well as their evaluation in the fields of Ontology Learning,
Population, Evaluation, Matching and Alignment.
Submissions about data source/corpus analysis and application of web data
sources for ontology learning, population and evolution are also very
welcome. Quantitative ontology analysis, graph property extraction and graph
mining methods as well as trend identification in evolving ontologies are
aims of high interest within the ontology lifecycle and therefore part of
this special track.
We invite contributions to enhance state-of-the-art methods and algorithms for
the ontology lifecycle. Topics include but are not limited to:
* Ontology Lifecycle Algorithm and Methods
* Ontology Learning
* Ontology Population
* Ontology Versioning and Evolution
* Semantic Interoperability
* Ontology Matching and Alignment
* Change propagation within the Ontology Evolution Process
* Formal Aspects and Languages
* Applications and Tools

12.-14. November 2008 an der Universitaet Stuttgart
=========================================================================================================
Tagungsziel
datenbasierte Entscheidungsfindung, quantitatives Prozessmanagement
sowie Prozessstandardisierung die wesentliche Grundlage einer reifen
Industrie.
Die Industrialisierung der Softwareentwicklung schafft neue Aufgaben,
Herausforderungen, Verbesserungspotentiale und Anforderungen fuer das
Software-Management in Praxis und Wissenschaft. Ihnen widmet sich die
diesjaehrige Fachtagung Software-Management 2008. Die beiden Leitfragen

EUROPEAN WORKSHOP ON REINFORCEMENT LEARNING (EWRL) 2008
June 30 - July 3, 2008
INRIA Lille-Nord Europe, France
http://ewrl08.futurs.inria.fr
INFORMATION
-----------
European Workshop on Reinforcement Learning (EWRL) is a (biennial)
series of events that is being organized since 1994. To date, the
sequential decision making problem with delayed rewards has been
studied, under various guises, by various communities: machine
learning, control, economics, applied mathematics, psychology and
biology to name the foremost. EWRL'08, the eighth workshop in the
series as well, aims to serve as a forum to discuss the current
state-of-the-art and future research directions in this continuously
growing field. We intend to make this an exciting event not only for
the European RL community but also international researchers from
related areas with many opportunities to share new knowledge and
encourage collaborative work. We also hope to help the emergence of
European projects in the 7th framework program that fall into the
scope of RL.
EWRL'08 is planned to be a theme oriented event in which each main
theme will be allocated a half-day session including (i) an overview
or tutorial, (ii) technical contributions in the form of long and
short papers, followed by (iii) discussions. There will be two special
sessions; a general discussion session entitled "Where are we heading?
- Current and Future Trends in RL", and a demonstration session
entitled "Real-life Applications of RL".
Prof. Rich Sutton, University of Alberta, will also be our special
guest.
Topics of interest include but not limited to:
* Exploration vs Exploitation Trade-off
* (Function) Approximation in RL
* Knowledge Representation in RL
* Theorical RL (Convergence and performance bounds, Complexity issues,
Sensitivity analysis)
* Multi-Agent RL
* Regret-minimization Algorithms in Games
* Direct Policy Search and Policy Gradient Methods
* Reward design and inverse RL
* Bayesian vs Frequentist Approaches
* RL and Statistical Learning
* Metrics for Empirical Comparisons in RL
* Reducing RL to Inference, Regression and Classification
* RL to Sequence Prediction
* RL from Biological and Psychological Perspectives
More information about the event can be found at EWRL'08 web site

Computational Forensics is an emerging research domain. It concerns the
investigation of forensic problems using computational methods.
IWCF¹08 serves as a forum for researchers in computer and forensic sciences
to discuss current challenges in computer-assisted forensic investigations
and to present recent work and research results.
The workshop addresses a broad spectrum of forensic disciplines that use
computational methods, i.e. statistical pattern analysis, computer-based
recognition, modeling, and simulation. Possible disciplines are
anthropology, ballistics, biology, impressions, pathology, prints and trace.
Objects to be studied are, for example, tool marks, shoeprints, friction
ridge impressions, vehicles, tire impressions, questioned documents, fire
debris, physiological and behavioral patterns. A particular focus of the
workshop is the analysis of pattern evidence where is there is much human
subjectivity.
IWCF¹08 invites authors to submit their original and unpublished work from
all areas of computational forensics.
