A TRACK consists of three full days of parallel technical sessions, coupled
with a set of advanced seminars and tutorials. A MINITRACK is either a
half-day or a full day of technical sessions. All sessions are conducted
in a workshop-like setting and participants often participate in several
different tracks. HICSS is sponsored by the College of Business

of tutorials followed by 3 days of paper presentations.
===================================================================
Proposal Contents
===================================================================
The proposals should be on timely and important topics in the field. Your
proposal should be about five pages long and should include the following:
1) Define the proposed technical area, discuss the topics the minitrack
will address, and describe how they fit into the area.
2) Discuss how these topics have recently been covered in other Conferences
and publications to substantiate that HICSS is not only an appropriate and
timely forum for the topics but also that there is a body of unpublished
good work to draw from.
3) If you are proposing a continuation of a current minitrack at HICSS-35,
include a report of the current minitrack showing the number of papers

inclusion in the final Call for Papers, to be used in case your proposal is
approved by the advisory committee.

INVITED SESSIONS
Based on past conferences experience, we suggest the following steps in
order to organize an invited session:
1) Identify a special topic in the scope of SCI 2002, and the invited
session title.

callaos(a)telcel.net.ve.
3) If the identified topic is suitable, the General Chair will accept the
proposal, and you
will receive an acceptation by e-mail, in few days. This acceptation is not

about their titles. With this acceptation: a) the proposed session will be
included in
the conference web page as well as its organizer and the chairs names, and
b) its

can contribute a
paper to your proposed session and attend at SCI 2002.
5) Collect the extended abstracts or the paper drafts from each prospective
participant.
6) Write a summary (1-2 page) with the main objectives, which must be
related to the
invited/selected papers.
7) As soon as you have 5 papers, you will complete the form regarding the
invited
session papers, provided in the conference web page
http://www.iiis.org/sci2002/.
8) Step 7 will take your invited session to the status of an approved one
if the papers
fulfil all the requirements (i.e. quality). All the approved invited
sessions will be
included in the SCI 2002 conference program.
9) In order to obtain a more diverse and variety opinions, do not accept

Subject: cfp: Special issue on Organizational Strategy Formulation and Flexibility
Date: Tue, 8 Jan 2002 11:14:45 -0500
From: Jeet Gupta <jgupta(a)BSU.EDU>
To: ISWORLD(a)LISTSERV.HEANET.IE
Note: A pdf file of this call for papers is also available at:
http://bsuvc.bsu.edu/~jgupta/cfpgift.pdf
CALL FOR PAPERS
Special issue of Global Journal of Flexible Systems Management on
Organizational Strategy Formulation and Flexibility
The formulation and implementation of organizational strategy are
recognized as key aspects of the management of all modern successful
organizations. However, it has become a daunting task to cope up with
changes in today's hyper competitive market place. With increasingly more
global competition and the infusion of the internet in the business world,
flexibility in the strategy formulation and strategy's implementation
process has become a requirement to survive and develop new business. Many
researchers over time have stressed the importance of incorporating
flexibility in the formulation of business strategy, as it may help achieve
better business performance. In such an environment, traditional strategic
planning methods do not suffice. To keep organizations competitive, policy
makers will have to overhaul the process of formulating and implementing
strategic initiatives to explicitly consider flexibility at various levels
in the organization. Many challenges await companies as they formulate
their organizational strategy and create flexibility in business processes.
Thus, organizations are obliged to continuously explore new and innovative
strategies, and to seek powerful methodologies that will confer competitive
advantage.
The purpose of this special issue is to group together highquality papers
that lie at the intersection of flexibility and organizational strategy
issues. The term flexibility is adapted in its most generic sense and
includes both the service and manufacturing environments. Examples of the
subject matter of the papers suitable for this special issue include, but
are not limited to, the following:
« Recent developments in strategy formulation that consider the
issues related to flexibility that can help practitioners, and their
integration with information technology and management sciences tools and
techniques.
« Development of appropriate concepts to understand the role and
significance of flexibility in organizational strategy formulation.
« Empirical research in understanding the practice of organizational
strategy formulation that includes flexibility and the types and levels of
flexibility possible in organizations.
« Impact of e-commerce and the internet on organizational strategy
formulation and the consideration of flexibility.
« Strategy formulations to achieve effective and flexible supply
chain solutions for extended multi-national enterprises.
« Strategy formulations to create and manage virtual enterprises of
the future.
« Identification of critical success factors to ensure flexibility in
organizations.
« Description and evaluation of information technology and software
packages available to help include flexibility in organizational strategy
formulation.
« Application papers of specific interest to the business community.
All manuscripts will be promptly and carefully refereed. Authors should
follow the Instructions to Authors for the Global Journal of Flexible
Systems Management (available from the guest editors) when preparing their
manuscripts. Please submit five copies in English, in a machine readable
form as an attachment to an e-mail, by no later than February 28, 2002, to

Subject: CFP - Journal of Information Warfare on Cyber Terrorism
Date: Tue, 8 Jan 2002 15:07:44 +1100
From: Matt Warren <mwarren(a)DEAKIN.EDU.AU>
To: ISWORLD(a)LISTSERV.HEANET.IE
Call for Papers Special Edition Cyber Terrorism Journal of Information
Warfare
The development of the Information Society has resulted in many positive
contributions to society, but a darker side of the Information Society has
been emerging. The appearance of hackers, computer viruses and the
development of Cyber Terrorism as a new threat, could in theory harm the
very fabric of the Information Society. This special issue of the Journal
of Information Warfare will look at the impact of these darker issues and
whether they will hinder or aid the development of the Information society.
In developing an improved understanding of Cyber Terrorism and its impact
on society, papers are sought for a special issue of Journal of Information
Warfare. Such articles might include insights into the aims and roles of
Cyber Terrorist groups, the relevance of Cyber Terrorism, ways in which
society and organisations can develop strategies to deal with the risks
involved and, case studies focusing on the issues of Cyber Terrorism.
Contributed papers may deal with but, are not limited to:
Cyber Terrorism;
Cyber Terrorism fact or fiction?;
Hackers in the 21st Century;
Hactivism;
Cyber Terrorists and National Infrastructure Protection;
Security Policies and strategies for dealing with Cyber Terrorists;
Security Modeling;
Information Warfare and Cyber Terrorists;
Cyber Terrorist Ethics.
Research surveys and application papers in the above areas are also
welcome. Manuscripts should not exceed 5000 words and figures and
illustrations should be kept to a minimum. All contributions are subjected
to a double-blind review process. There should be a separate title page
giving the names and addresses of the authors and any other references that
reveal the identity of the authors should be removed. A copy of manuscript,
following the standard guidelines for the journal of Information Warfare,
http://www.jinfowar.com/autt.nsf/pages/infowarfare should be emailed to the
guest editor by the 31st May, 2002. The editor for the special issue is:
