Subject: IFIP TC11.1&11.2 joint conference cancelled/postponed

For the attention of all concerned.
All of us are still shocked because of the September 11 tragic happenings
in the US. Our prayers and support are with all those affected by these
events.
As a consequence of the happenings and the situation, the organizers of the
8th Annual IFIP TC11.1 and 11.2 joint working conference (8AWC) on
Information Security Management scheduled for Las Vegas on 27 and 28
September 2001, have decided to CANCEL/POSTPONE the event. Before this
decision was taken we consulted with many role players in order to make a
well-informed decision.
Some of the reasons that attributed to this decision include the last
minute withdrawal of a number of a participants from the program and a
general sense of fear of the unknown and apprehensions to travel by air.
We are however exploring options to either integrate the conference with
the forthcoming IFIP Sec 2002 conference in Cairo, Egypt on 6 - 8 May 2002
or integrate it with the ISOneWorld conference in Las Vegas on 4 and 5
April 2002 <http://isoneworld.org>
It is unfortunate that this meeting had to be cancelled. especially when
all arrangements had been made and the professionally bound official
proceedings (done by Kluwer Academic Press) had been published. We now have
nearly 50 extra copies available. If you might be interested in purchasing
the proceedings, please let me know.

CALL FOR PAPERS
for a Special Issue on
E-BUSINESS PROCESS MANAGEMENT
-----------------------------------
BUSINESS PROCESS MANAGEMENT JOURNAL
www.emeraldinsight.com/bpmj.htm
E-business is transforming business processes and strategy. To succeed in
the
new economy, organizations must integrate business, technology and processes
not
only within the enterprise but also across extended enterprises. Process
integration is the key for the development of an effective e-business
infrastructure.
Integration involves not only implementing ERP systems and ensuring they
communicate or
interface with legacy systems, but also integrating Supply Chain Management,
Customer Relationship Management, Product Lifecycle Management,
e-procurement and e-marketplaces
with legacy and ERP systems, and making them available over the Web to
foster cooperation
and collaboration across the entire value chain.
Papers are invited for a special edition of the Business Process Management
Journal
(BPMJ) on E-Business Process Management. The aim is to publish high
quality original
work highlighting issues, problems and potential solutions in e-business
process management. Submissions should be focused on process-related issues.
They should highlight the innovation
of e-business processes in comparison with 'traditional' business process
management. Research papers that employ any of the three main approaches --
technical, analytical or empirical (including case studies and experience
reports) -- are welcome.
Contributed papers may deal with, but are not limited to:
· Models, methodologies, tools and techniques for e-business process
management and enterprise integration
· Modeling e-business processes
· Workflow-based e-business process management
· Design of architectures and collaborative supply chain processes for
e-business
· Design of e-procurement, e-marketplace, and CRM processes for e-business
· Issues, challenges and solutions in e-business and enterprise integration
· Assessing quality of e-business process models
· Effect of e-business process change on inter-enterprise relationships
· Processes for product life-cycle management, intelligent manufacturing,
and mobile and pervasive computing
· Impact of culture on e-business process managenment
A 300-word proposal should be sent, for guidance on appropriateness, to any
of the three guest editors by e-mail. Closing date for receipt of proposals
is March 15, 2002.
Full papers should be 3000-5000 words in length, single-spaced, full
justified, and in A4 Word format submitted electronically to any of the
guest editors by June 1, 2002. All contributions will be subjected to a
rigorous blind review by at least two experts. Full papers, following the
BPMJ guidelines <http://www.emeraldinsight.com/bpmj.htm>, should be
submitted as two Word file attachments. File 1 - contains a title page
giving the name(s) and full address(es) of the
author(s), the title of the paper, its word count (maximum 5000 words), 5
keywords, and an abstract of 200 words. File 2 - contains the title of the
paper, 5 keywords, a 200-word abstract, and the full body of the paper. Any
information that reveals the identity of the author(s) should be removed.
Guest Editors for the Special Issue:
- Fiona Fui-Hoon Nah, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, fnah(a)unl.edu
- Michael Rosemann, Queensland University of Technology,
m.rosemann(a)qut.edu.au
- Edward Watson, SAP America, edward.watson(a)sap.com

TRACK DESCRIPTION:
===================
This track is one of the leading international forums concerned with the
design, development, and implementation of information and communication
technologies (ICTs) in Middle Eastern countries. As is the case for many
Middle Eastern countries, internationally-published research on information
systems (IS) practice in those countries is in short supply. IT diffusion
in the Middle Eastern countries has been characterised as 'slow' and
'behind'. At the same time, Increasing operations in the international
context, organisations must be able to exploit the power of IT to
communicate among widespread locations activities both within and across
countries. Thus, it is necessary for the managers to these organisations to
learn as much as that can about the cross-cultural adoption and use of IT.
Yet, research into international information systems is still a minority
area in IS research and there is very little of use as a theoretical
framework for researching them. International information systems cases are
a hybrid of human, social/organisational and technological case elements.
Also, as globalisation and virtual markets are expanding, the profound need
for more in-depth research about the IS/IT cross-cultural and global
perspectives issues is in significant shortage taking into considerations
that the external IT environment has been characterised by using terms like
"high velocity", "fast-changing", "rapid", "clock-speed", etc. Information
systems are implemented within a social context consisting of economic,
political, cultural and societal, educational, legal and technical factors
which differ greatly among countries. Failure to take account of such
differences can inhibit the successful adoption of ITC's and increase the
risks for IT systems implementation especially with emergence and
expansion of interdependent global economy. In this track we seek papers
dealing with a wide variety of global IS/IT issues, especially discussing
and researching the IT different issues in Middle Eastern countries.

Dear colleagues,
we like to direct your attention to the following call.
Please accept our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this CfP.
Please distribute this information to colleagues who might be interested.
Consider submitting a contribution and/or participating in this very
interesting interdisciplinary conference.

extended deadline for abstract submission: October 7, 2001
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
We all have been shocked by the tragic terror attacks of September 11 in
the USA and would like to express our deepest sympathy for all our American
friends. Of course, several normal activities have been delayed for this
reason. Taking this into account, the program committee has extended
the deadline for abstracts of IDPT 2002 contributions.

Session Description
-------------------
The evolution of digital multimedia technologies, together with
rapidly growing processing, networking, and communication facilities,
is driving the creation of new types of media-oriented software
systems as well as the incorporation of multimedia features into
traditional software systems, like information, simulation, or even
embedded systems. As these systems continue to gain higher complexity,
it is necessary to apply and adapt software engineering techniques to
the domain of multimedia systems in order to maintain multimedia
software development projects manageable.
It is the aim of this session to present state-of-the-art
approaches of applying software engineering techniques
to the development of multimedia systems. The intended focus
is on modeling and specification techniques as well as
integration of modeling activities within a multimedia software development
process and the interrelations between multimedia modeling and
implementation techniques, e.g., authoring systems, multimedia frameworks,
multimedia programming support, standard multimedia formats.
These topics may be addressed on the level of concepts, languages,
methods, or tools. We encourage authors and participants to present and
discuss technical papers contributing research and development results
with both practical and scientific relevance.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- specification and modeling techniques (languages, methods, tools) for
multimedia and hypermedia systems,
- model-based multimedia development in practice,
- theoretical foundation of multimedia system modeling,
- modeling as part of a multimedia (software) development process,
- spatial and/or temporal modeling,
- integration of user interaction modeling and (real-)time
behavior modeling,
- architectural modeling for (distributed/concurrent) multimedia systems,
- object-oriented modeling or implementation of multimedia systems,
- integration of user interface modeling (development) and
(multimedia) application/system modeling (development),
- automatic or interactive generation of multimedia systems from models,
- multimedia authoring,
- multimedia frameworks,
- multimedia programming languages, tools, or environments,
- multimedia development using multimedia standards.
Submission & Publication Process
---------------------------------
Submit a 200-word abstract by e-mail to one of the session organizers
by October 7, 2001. Abstract submissions must include: Title,
Authors' Full Name/Names, Affiliations and Addresses,
E- mail Address, Fax, and Telephone.
Submitted abstracts will be reviewed and authors will be provided with
feedback by the session organizers. Based on this feedback,
the full paper (up to 10 pages) is due by January 15, 2002.
Full papers should be submitted by e-mail to one of the session organizers.
According to the conference rules, each submitted paper will be reviewed
and evaluated by the program committee based on at least three referee
reports. The PC will make a decision by March 1, 2002, and the final
version of the full paper is due by March 15, 2002.
All accepted papers should be prepared in Microsoft Word, postscript (ps)
or PDF and e-mailed as attachments to the session organizer.
All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
Abstracts will be published in hard copy and the full papers on CD.
Furthermore, competitively selected papers will be reviewed for
publication in the SDPS Transactions: Journal of Integrated Design
and Process Science.
IDPT 2002
---------
The IDPT Conference is a major international forum for the integration
of design and process technologies to create a symbiotic
relationship among scientists, engineers, software developers,
decision makers, and other critical thinkers. IDPT is organized by the
Society for Design and Process Science (SDPS http://www.sdpsnet.org/)
and traditionally covers all topics of integrated design and process
technology in software development as well as mechanical and other areas
of engineering. IDPT is certainly one of the most challenging conferences
combining different communities from Computer Science and Engineering.
The IDPT 2002 conference will be chaired by Bernd Kraemer (Germany) and
John C. Peterson (CA). Program Chairs are Hartmut Ehrig (Germany) and
Atila Ertas (TX).
The conference program will consist of invited and selected papers.
Plenary sessions and keynote addresses will be presented by
prominent speakers.
