CALL FOR PAPERS
17th Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
(KR2020)
12—18 September 2020, Rhodes, Greece
https://kr2020.inf.unibz.it/
Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KR) is a well-established and
lively field of research. In KR a fundamental assumption is that an
agent's knowledge is explicitly represented in a declarative form,
suitable for processing by dedicated reasoning engines. This assumption,
that much of what an agent deals with is knowledge-based, is common in
many modern intelligent systems. Consequently, KR has contributed to the
theory and practice of various areas in AI, including automated planning
and natural language understanding, and to fields beyond AI, including
databases, verification, software engineering, and robotics. In recent
years, KR has contributed also to new and emerging fields, including the
semantic web, computational biology, cyber security, and the development
of software agents.
The KR conference series is the leading forum for timely in-depth
presentation of progress in the theory and principles underlying the
representation and computational management of knowledge.
SCOPE
We solicit papers presenting novel results on the principles of KR that
clearly contribute to the formal foundations of relevant problems or
show the applicability of results to implemented or implementable
systems. We also welcome papers from other areas that show clear use
of, or contributions to, the principles or practice of KR. We also
encourage "reports from the field" of applications, experiments,
developments, and tests.

Subject: [AISWorld] Last CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue on Co-design of
Data and Computation Management in Fog Computing

LAST CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Issue on Co-design of Data and Computation Management in Fog
Computing
to be published in the Future Generation Computer Systems (FGCS) Journal
CFP:
https://www.journals.elsevier.com/future-generation-computer-systems/call-f…
------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT DATES
- Submission deadline: January 31st, 2020
- Authors' Notification: April 30th, 2020
- Revised version deadline: June 12th, 2020
- Final decision: July 31st, 2020
------------------------------------------------------
OVERVIEW
The term Fog Computing has been introduced to identify a paradigm for
designing applications able to exploit both the (virtually) infinite
resources on the cloud and the limited edge computation power by operating
also on the devices living in between these two sides. More specifically,
the aim is to exploit a heterogeneous and distributed computational and
storage environment to optimize the execution of modern applications
requiring high computational resources while reducing the delay and
defining constraints on where and how data can be moved and stored. In
fact, big volumes of data are produced every day at the edge of the network
and their analysis requires to either move the computation to the data or
to move the data to the computation. For this reason, a co-design between
data and computation management is required. An example could be to define
the amount of data to be moved with respect to the complexity of required
data analysis. In some cases, this data movement is not possible or limited
due to privacy restrictions, which do not allow data collected at the edge
to be stored on cloud facilities maintained by third-party actors. In other
cases, the volume of data moved through the network introduces severe
delays in the processing and techniques to reduce the volume by
pre-processing and filtering them directly where the data are generated
should be enacted to reduce this delay. At the same time, any
transformation of the data might affect their utility for the final
customer, thus, also the quality of the data should be taken into account.
Moreover, the data collected by IoT and sensors at the edge is often
subject to quality issues that might be detected and solved before using
them for analytics and decision making.

*Minitrack 9: Artificial Intelligence in Small and Medium Enterprises*
*Track: Data Science and Analytics for Decision Support (SIGDSA)*
*@ AMCIS 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah*
*August 12-16, 2020*
Dear colleagues,
We invite you to submit contributions to the minitrack “Artificial
Intelligence in Small and Medium Enterprises” underthe AMCIS 2020 track
“Data Science and Analytics for Decision Support (SIGDSA)”
*Minitrack Description:*
There is rapid growth of real-life Artificial Intelligence applications
and intelligent services, that enhance business processes and reinvent
business models. Multiple examples, like predictive maintenance and
demand forecast algorithms, have shown to add substantial value.
However, so far large companies or specialized companies use these new
technologies. Yet, especially small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs)
struggle to utilize AI. Lacking comparable monetary resources and
knowledge, SMEs are often hesitant to take on the risk and necessary
investments needed to integrate AI in their business models, although
there are numerous application possibilities and large amounts of
(mostly unused) data. As business models differ from large companies,
SMEs require unique suitable solutions fitting to their organization and
culture. We are interested in challenging SME-specific problems,
innovative business models, or case studies that can be solved by AI,
including:
– Forecasting methods, pattern recognition or profiling (e.g. social media)
– KI in quality assurance
– Support/Assistance systems (e.g. workforce, CRM)
– applications with small/medium data sets
– Knowledge Management/Business analytics
– AI in functional units, e.g. Finance and Accounting, HR; Controlling,
Operations
*Important Dates:*

Subject: [AISWorld] AMIS 2020 CFP - Computational Social Science
Research through Analytics minitrack
Date: Sun, 05 Jan 2020 15:20:54 -0800
From: Au Vo <professor.auvo(a)gmail.com>
To: This is the AISWorld List Server <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Dear Colleagues:
Please consider submitting a manuscript to the Computational Social
Science Research through Analytics minitrack under the AMCIS 2020 Data
Science and Analytics for Decision Support Track. AMCIS 2020 will take
place in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 12-16. The online submission
system opens on January 6 and closes on February 28. Following is a
short description of our minitrack and if you have any other questions,
do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you in Salt
Lake City in 2020.
Computational social science research has garnered much interest from
multiple disciplines through the use of massive, multi-faceted, and
authentic data. A recent trend in understanding social phenomena using
computational social science research, especially through the use of
analytics has led to many discoveries of, and confirmation of hypotheses
and theories. The interdisciplinary nature of computational social
science research is suitable for our field, for Information Systems has
the ability to demonstrate both rigor and relevance of answering social
science questions through innovative use of data analytics. As a
discipline, Information Systems enable the collection, processing, and
analyzing trace data, which are event-based records of activities of
transactions that could be found in systems across organizations and the
Internet. Therefore, our field are poised to explicate interesting and
valuable insights.
Thanks to the implosion in data analytics tools such as data mining,
machine learning, artificial intelligence, researchers have the ability
to augment understanding of existing problems and elucidate current
perplexing issues. Large-scale problems are no longer a hard-to-reach
problem, but an interesting one with a plethora of research directions.
In general, the guideline for computational research has percolated
through various disciplines via leading research outlets like Nature,
Information Systems Research, Management Information Systems Quarterly,
and Communications of the ACM have started to solicit calls in this
nascent research field to attract more researchers to work on
interesting problems and theory building from data.
This minitrack encourages research on the utilization of data to
explore, and potentially answer social phenomena. Submissions may focus
on descriptive research process, novel algorithm designs, questions
forming, new and interesting directions in computational social science.
In addition, nascent theory forming through a bottom up approach using
data is especially encouraged. Research in any domains are welcome,
including but not pertaining only to, persuasion, ethics, equality,
social benefit distribution, and humanitarian efforts.
Below is a list of recommended topics, however, other relevant topics
are also welcome:
* Algorithm designs in Computational Social Science
* Computational Social Science strategies and research processes
* The role of Information Systems in Computational Social Science
* Computational Social Science interdisciplinary research
* Computational Social Science with Big Data applications
* Computational Social Science in changing and/or influencing human
behaviors
* Ethics of Computational Social Science research on human behaviors

Mini-Track: Blockchain for Development

<https://amcis2020.aisconferences.org/track-descriptions/#toggle-id-9>
Track Global Development (SIG GlobDev)
Salt Lake City, Utah, USA August 12-16, 2020
Blockchain is emerging as a very promising technology. It is based on a
shared, distributed ledger, where transactions are registered by
consensus in a network of peers, using cryptographic mechanisms that
render the records virtually immutable. This enables transparency,
auditability, and resilience. Additionally, Blockchains can also store
and enforce smart contracts – pieces of code that are executed
automatically once predetermined conditions are met – further reducing
uncertainty and promoting confidence among stakeholders that would not
normally trust each other and, thus, dispensing with middlemen. This has
led to innovative experiments in high profile areas, such as financial
services, insurance, healthcare, value chains, shipping and logistics,
Internet-of-Things, Intellectual Property Rights licensing, and
crowdfunding, among others. In addition, Blockchain also holds a huge
potential for development in general and emerging economies in
particular. It can foster more democratic mechanisms and help fight
corruption. It can enable secure and lean ID mechanisms, reduce the
number of unbanked, prevent voting fraud and tax evasion, improve
government management of public benefits, reduce commissions on
remittances of emigrants, control donations and charity initiatives, or
ensure integrity of public records. In the past, we have seen emerging
economies lag in ICT adoption when compared with developed counterparts.
With Blockchain, however, the opportunity exists to implement the
technology in the same time frame, to address afflicting areas and even
leapfrog established solutions in others.
Topics of interest for this minitrack include, but are not limited to:
- The social and organizational impact of Blockchain for Development
- Blockchain for Development case studies, applications, and implementations
- Alternative ID systems based on Blockchain
- Blockchain in e-government and public administration
- Barriers and enablers in the adoption of Blockchain for Development
- Blockchain and traditional pain points in Development
- Blockchain and voting
- Blockchain and the legal system
- Blockchain and regulatory frameworks
- Smart contracts
- Alternative uses of the Blockchain
- Tokens, ICOs, fundraising
- Blockchain and disruptive innovation
- Business models supported on Blockchain
