Second IEEE Digital Health as a Service Symposium
In conjunction with 2020 IEEE World Congress on Services
Beijing, China, July 8-9, 2020
Please join us in the second IEEE Digital Health as a Service Symposium
(DHAASS) which will be organized within the 2020 IEEE World Congress on
Services (IEEE SERVICES), The Congress will take place July 7-11, 2020,
in Beijing, China (https://conferences.computer.org/services/2020/).
DHAASS, which will be held July 8-9, 2020, aims to bring together
leading researchers, community leaders and visionaries from academia and
industry, end-users, and healthcare professionals, in the area of
digital health to share their research, practical experience, and
visions of the future of sustainable health and social care transformations.
About DHAASS
Looking at the health and integrated care system through services’
spectacles reveal significant opportunities for engaging digital health
to affect an ecosystem shift in which a new health delivery model is
unleashed. Engaging multiple and new roles, including communities and
individual patients in their own integrated healthcare services delivery
is one of the promising opportunities which can be made possible by the
microservices structuring of the health and care system . Broadly
speaking, related discovery, composition and provision of healthcare
services will need to be based on cutting-edge computer technologies and
digital media/data so that quality factors including timing,
granularity, scale, cost-effectiveness, safety, security, privacy, and
precision are integral parts of the healthcare value chain ecosystem.
Digital Health services can include, among many other innovative
methods, preventive and predictive capabilities of machine learning
based data analytics, actionable recommendations based on in-situ
monitoring and assessment of an individual’s real-time physical and
cognitive performance, trade-off analysis between cloud-based versus
edge-based sensory data streaming and data analytics.
Scope
DHAASS will embrace a broad spectrum of issues and concerns, including,
but not limited to, the following topics related to digital health as
services:
• Microservices models and architectures of health and integrated care
services
• Disease/condition-specific provider microservice design (e.g.,
diabetes, obesity, COPD, dementia, post cancer treatment, allergies,
Ear, Nose and Throat Conditions (ENT))
• Patient/user-side microservices design (user needs, social isolation,
assistive living for older adults and individuals with special needs,
emergencies)
• Standardizing provider-side and user-side microservices. FHIR
resources, profiles and extension for digital health as a service
• Microservices-based delivery pathways co-design and provider acceptability
• Informatic, cybernetic and mediatic digital health platforms
supportive of implementing microservices architecture
• Community crowd-sourcing for delivery of health and care microservices
• Microservices crowd-sourcing platforms
• Worker training and selection, reputation management, and micropayments
• Mediation technology for peer group support (peer-sourcing)
• Qualifying and activating user-side microservice requests:
eligibility, fairness, properness, among other qualifications including
irrational service user models (e.g., a dementia patient requesting the
microservice repeatedly and forgetfully)
• mHealth services and applications which include the use of mobile
devices o in collecting community and clinical health data, delivery of
healthcare information to practitioners, researchers and patients,
• for real-time monitoring of patient vital signs and the direct
provision of care (via mobile telemedicine)
• for training and collaboration of health workers.
• Health economics of microservices-oriented care delivery systems o
Scalability issues for adopting digital health as services
• Empirical study on savings in unit and total cost realized by patient
and community engagement

Using IS for Good
Minitrack for AMCIS 2020
Track: Social Inclusion and Socio-Technical Issues
August 12-16, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
Information systems (IS) have the potential to improve social welfare
through redistribution of power, providing a voice for marginalized
people, improving access to education, and increasing economic
opportunity (George & Leidner, 2019; Lin, et al., 2015; Ortiz et al.,
2019; Silva & Hirschheim, 2007; Vaidya & Myers, 2017). Some development
programs that sought to use IS for a good cause have been highly
successful, but many other projects, even those well designed and
well-funded, have never gotten off the ground (Chipidza & Leidner,
2019). This track is dedicated to research on how IS has been used for
good, how and when it is successful, and how and when it tends to fail.
The contribution of the track is the development of theory and methods
for improving the outcomes when IS is used for Good.
What we are looking for
We welcome papers that theoretically, conceptually, or empirically
advance research on the impact of IS on society when IS and ICTs
specifically target the improvement of social welfare. Papers may use
any acceptable methodology and theory. Submissions are encouraged at any
level of analysis or progress. Both full papers and emerging research
are encouraged so that authors can gain valuable feedback for moving
their projects forward. Possible topics may include (but are not limited
to):
· The role of Fintech in economic development
· Projects or systems focused on the digital divide
· Social connections of geographically distant groups with a common cause
· Digital strategies to fight disenfranchisement and marginalization
· Corporate social responsibility success and failure
· Digital activism that advances human rights
· Information systems that focus on financial inclusion
· The impact of digital saviors (those who think they know best and
impose systems on a community for their own good)

Call for papers for Computational Social Science Research through Analytics
Dear Colleagues:
Please consider submitting a manuscript to the Computational Social
Science Research through Analytics minitrack under the AMCIS 2020 Data
Science and Analytics for Decision Support Track. AMCIS 2020 will take
place in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 12-16. The online submission
system opens on January 6 and closes on February 28. Following is a
short description of our minitrack and if you have any other questions,
do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you in Salt
Lake City in 2020.
Computational social science research has garnered much interest from
multiple disciplines through the use of massive, multi-faceted, and
authentic data. A recent trend in understanding social phenomena using
computational social science research, especially through the use of
analytics has led to many discoveries of, and confirmation of hypotheses
and theories. The interdisciplinary nature of computational social
science research is suitable for our field, for Information Systems has
the ability to demonstrate both rigor and relevance of answering social
science questions through innovative use of data analytics. As a
discipline, Information Systems enable the collection, processing, and
analyzing trace data, which are event-based records of activities of
transactions that could be found in systems across organizations and the
Internet. Therefore, our field are poised to explicate interesting and
valuable insights.
Thanks to the implosion in data analytics tools such as data mining,
machine learning, artificial intelligence, researchers have the ability
to augment understanding of existing problems and elucidate current
perplexing issues. Large-scale problems are no longer a hard-to-reach
problem, but an interesting one with a plethora of research directions.
In general, the guideline for computational research has percolated
through various disciplines via leading research outlets like Nature,
Information Systems Research, Management Information Systems Quarterly,
and Communications of the ACM have started to solicit calls in this
nascent research field to attract more researchers to work on
interesting problems and theory building from data.
This minitrack encourages research on the utilization of data to
explore, and potentially answer social phenomena. Submissions may focus
on descriptive research process, novel algorithm designs, questions
forming, new and interesting directions in computational social science.
In addition, nascent theory forming through a bottom up approach using
data is especially encouraged. Research in any domains are welcome,
including but not pertaining only to, persuasion, ethics, equality,
social benefit distribution, and humanitarian efforts.
Below is a list of recommended topics, however, other relevant topics
are also welcome:
* Algorithm designs in Computational Social Science
* Computational Social Science strategies and research processes
* The role of Information Systems in Computational Social Science
* Computational Social Science interdisciplinary research
* Computational Social Science with Big Data applications
* Computational Social Science in changing and/or influencing human
behaviors
* Ethics of Computational Social Science research on human behaviors
* Nascent theory and hypothesis forming through the use of data
(quantitative grounded theory)

Systems analysis involves examining business problems (opportunities)
and identifying possible solutions, whereas systems design includes the
identification, specification, and implementation of an information
technology solution. The combined field of Systems Analysis and Design
(SAND) deals with all issues related to the development of systems and,
as such, is of central importance to the Information Systems discipline,
including understanding how businesses can create value with new digital
technologies. The SIGSAND track provides a forum for discussing research
related to systems development tools, methodologies and other activities
throughout the systems development life cycle (SDLC). This includes
requirements determination, modeling techniques and languages, agile
systems development practices, empirical evaluation of analysis and
design methods, user involvement in systems development, open source
development, design of systems architecture, and other technical and
organizational issues in systems development. Topics include, but are
not limited to:
− Systems Analysis and Design: Methodologies and Design Processes
− Systems Analysis and Design: Empirical Evaluations, Modeling Methods,
Techniques, and Languages
− Systems Analysis and Design: Requirements Elicitation, Modeling, and
Validation
− Analysis and Design for Service-Oriented Enterprises
− Micro-service-based Development
− Contemporary Issues in Agile Development
− Strategic Software Management: Issues, Experiences, and Theory
− Technical and Managerial Issues in Open Source Development
− User Participation and Involvement in Information Systems Development
− Impact of Systems Analysis and Design on IS use (e.g., adoption,
information quality)
− Application of SAND concepts and principles beyond IS development
(e.g., in data analytics)
− Organizational Issues in Systems Analysis and Design
General Systems Analysis and Design
− New and Emerging SAND Tools and Approaches
Two more focused mini-tracks are also a part of the Systems Analysis and
Design Track:
SIGSAND Minitrack 1: Contemporary Issues in DevOps and Agile Development
Minitrack Chairs:
Sridhar Nerur (snerur(a)exchange.uta.edu)
Venugopal Balijepally (balijepa(a)oakland.edu)
It is fair to say that agile methodologies – in some form or manner –
have been widely accepted in industry. We are farther along in our
understanding of various aspects of agile development, including but not
limited to its adoption, adaptation, scalability, social aspects,
project management, distributed development, and enterprise agility.
However, the emergence of new technologies, the increase in regulatory
requirements, and the enormous changes that have occurred in the
development landscape present opportunities for new areas of research.
For example, the advent of DevOps and its interplay with agile has
scarcely been empirically investigated. Likewise, agile methodologies
appear to be a natural fit for Business Analytics projects. Yet, there
is not much empirical research on their efficacy on such projects. This
mini-track provides a forum for researchers to address fundamental
issues regarding DevOps and agile development practices as well as
contemporary topics raised by its widespread acceptance and use.
SIGSAND Minitrack 2: Modeling Languages, Methodologies, Methods,
Techniques, and Tools
Minitrack Chairs:
Dominik Bork (dominik.bork(a)univie.ac.at)
John Erickson (johnerickson(a)unomaha.edu)
Xin Tan (xtan(a)fdu.edu)
Keng Siau (siauk(a)mst.edu)
This minitrack recognizes the important role modeling languages,
methodologies, methods, and tools play in SAND. This minitrack provides
a forum for researchers, educators, and practitioners working in the
areas of modelling language development, use, modification, and
evaluation. We are particularly interested in papers that combine
conceptual modelling with emerging trends like Artificial Intelligence
and in pieces that target the changing role modelling and models can
take now and in future.
An objective of this minitrack is to work toward a more standardized set
of concepts which would in turn benefit researchers, educators, and
practitioners in this field while also considering recent developments
in domain-specific conceptual modelling. We welcome empirical,
conceptual, theoretical, and technical pieces, and are open to all
research methods.
The most promising submissions will be invited for a fast-track to the
Journal of Database Management or Enterprise Modelling and Information
Systems Architectures – International Journal of Conceptual Modeling.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

Subject: [AISWorld] AMCIS 2020 Mini-Track on Value Appropriation and
Creation in Platform-Mediated Collaborative Environments: Call for Papers
Date: Fri, 3 Jan 2020 10:10:38 +0000
From: Yijing Li <yijing.li(a)unsw.edu.au>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
2020 Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), Salt Lake City,
Utah.
Track: Virtual Communities and Collaboration
Mini-track: Value Appropriation and Creation in Platform-Mediated
Collaborative Environments
Dear Colleges,
We invite submissions to the “Value Appropriation and Creation in
Platform-Mediated Collaborative Environments” mini-track under the
“Virtual Communities and Collaboration” track at the Americas Conference
on Information Systems (AMCIS) 2020 to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah,
August 12-16, 2020.
<Mini-Track Description>
Virtual communities are reshaping the way we communicate and collaborate
with one another, shifting us from spatial- and temporal-confined
interactions towards fluid peer-to-peer marketplaces and other
firm-market hybrids. The platform-mediated collaboration paradigm has
sprung up to facilitate both individuals and/or organizations in pooling
resources for the pursuit of mutual goals. For instance, we crowdfund
innovation from Kickstarter, staff projects through Amazon’s Mechanical
Turk, incubate products from open-source designs acquired through
micro-manufacturers like FirstBuild, organize virtual meetings using
WebEx, and work with team members via Asana. As virtual communities
redefine the boundaries and structures of human collaborations,
comprehending human behaviors in digital environments and deriving
design considerations for digital services that optimize collaborative
processes is imperative for realizing collaboration in the virtual space.
This mini-track embraces both retrospective and progressive views on
behavioral and design issues related to virtual collaborative platforms.
Particularly, we are interested in research that unravels the interplay
of human behaviors and virtual collaborative platforms at the
individual, group, organization, and societal levels as well as the
intersection across levels. Contributions to this mini-track should
expand our knowledge on how technologies govern and shape human
behaviors in virtual communities as well as how such technology-mediated
human behaviors, in turn, inform the design of virtual collaborative
platforms. We welcome both theoretical and empirical contributions that
explore how digital services can be designed to appropriate and create
value in platform-mediated collaborative environments, especially those
that subscribe to inter-disciplinary perspectives and/or adopt mixed
methods.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Influence of individual and collective behaviors on the design and
usage of virtual collaborative platforms
- Influence of virtual collaborative platforms on individual behaviors,
group dynamics, as well as organizational norms and policies
- Influence of political and socio-economic factors on human behaviors
associated with virtual collaboration
- Patterns of human/human-machine interactions and how digital services
can be leveraged to support such interactions
- Role of individual behaviors in shaping collective outcome on virtual
collaborative platforms
- Data-driven design of virtual collaborative platforms
- Design of business processes and workflow in virtual collaborations
- Design of communication interfaces and digital assistants on virtual
collaborative platforms
- Design of recommendation systems on virtual collaborative platforms
- Design of reputation systems on virtual collaborative platforms
- Design of assessment tools on collaborative outcome and individuals’
contributions on virtual collaborative platforms
- Design modalities, principles, and processes for virtual collaborative
platforms
- Evaluation of system design for virtual collaborative platforms
Important Dates:
- January 6, 2020: Manuscript submissions for AMCIS 2020 begin
- February 28, 2020: AMCIS manuscript submissions (completed research
and Emergent Research Forum (ERF)) closes for authors at 5:00Pm MST
