Call for Papers: 1st Workshop on Flexible Advanced Information Systems
(FAiSE), co-located with the 30th International Conference on Advanced
Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE)
June 11/12, 2018, Tallinn, Estonia
Due to the recent development of digital systems, IoT-technologies and
the uptake of the digitalization wave in industries, massive amounts of
data and events are being continuously generated and are readily
available. These data can be used by organizations to provide smarter
and personalized services and products to people and organizations, as
well as to improve the efficiency of their work and the value of their
business models. The new challenges that information systems are facing
in this context are related to both being able to exploit the data
stemming from the IoT and the ability to react fast to the changes
notified by these data.
Therefore the main purpose of the workshop is to provide a forum for
discussions on the synergies of the IoT, innovative technologies, and
advanced information systems and thus encourage exchange between
researchers and practitioners towards identifying concepts and
approaches supporting the exploitation of advances in IoT towards
enabling flexible information systems. We are especially interested in
the reconciliation of the divide between any of the following areas:
·Digitalization and IoT for smarter and personalized services to people
and organizations
·Flexible Information systems that allow organizations to maintain
control and react to constant changes in competitive, rapidly changing
environments
·Data-driven process performance improvement - data analytics and its
integration into flexible advanced information systems
More specifically the relevant topicsare as follows:
·Synergies and integration of Information Systems and IoT, through e.g.
event processing, monitoring, flexibility and other approaches
·Flexible information systems - engineering aspects and methodologies,
techniques and infrastructures
·Data-driven processes - e.g. modelling, execution, monitoring and
flexibility aspects
·Advanced Information Systems design and engineering principles for
data-driven process performance improvement
·Flexible design and/or execution of processes using different
approaches and technologies

Betreff: [AISWorld] "The Analytics of Things" - An AMCIS 2018 CFP
Datum: Sat, 6 Jan 2018 01:17:54 +0000
Von: Michael Goul <Michael.Goul(a)asu.edu>

CALL FOR PAPERS
24th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2018)
Aug. 16-18, 2018
New Orleans, LA, USA
Track: Data Science and Analytics for Decision Support
Minitrack 10: “The Analytics of Things”
A convergence of the Internet of Things, Big Data, artificial intelligence, digital transformation and analytics will occur as Moore’s Law impacts computational capabilities at the edge. The phrase, ‘Analytics of Things’ (AoT) has come to characterize this convergence. Companies are already undergoing strategic shifts to prepare for AoT-based competition. Product designers are rethinking traditional lifecycles as smart products will have dormant properties that can be ‘turned on’ long after a sale. New business models are already emerging, and for many organizations, there will be a profound shift from a product to a service focus. Predictive analytics at the edge will deliver personalized services in new environments including smart cities and stadiums. Machine learning at the edge will mean it is possible that unpredictable emergent system behavior will occur. There are entirely new strategic, behavioral, tactical, computational, ethical and governance implications to AoT. However, there is a short window of opportunity for the IS research community to help prepare for this future. This minitrack is designed to address a broad spectrum of research that can help to advance thought leadership in AoT.
Fit with the Minitrack:
This is a new minitrack, so a broad landscape of topics, ideas and methods are relevant. As the area rapidly evolves over the next few years, our objective is to be able to point back to AMCIS 2018 as having provided grass roots contributions that served to both define the scope of the area and to set the tone for requisite research rigor, relevance and significance.

THEME OF THE CONFERENCE
======================================================================
Digital Transformation - an imperative for today's business markets
Nowadays, digital technologies transform the way the business is made,
the companies grow, the links between people are created and evolve,
as well as many other domains. The digital transformation means that
digital usages inherently enable new types of innovation and creativity
in various domains. In general, Digital Transformation can be defined
as an integration of digital technology into all areas of business,
resulting in fundamental changes to how businesses operate and how they
deliver value to their customers. The BIS Conference traditionally has
focused on actual trends of development, implementation and application
of business information systems in different domains. Thus, to continue
this tradition, the upcoming edition of BIS will focus on the Digital
Transformation that affects both individual businesses and whole
domains, such as e.g. administration, communication, art, medicine,
healthcare, finance and science.
The Digital Transformation is described as "the total and overall
societal effect of digitalization". Digitization has enabled the
process of digitalization, which resulted in transformation of existing
business models, socio-economic structures, legal and policy measures,
organizational patterns, cultural barriers, etc. There are a number of
reasons why businesses undergo Digital Transformation. The main
argument is that they simply have to. With the evolving business
markets, companies that want to succeed must understand how to apply
technology to support strategical decisions and realise the visions.
However, there are many ways how it may be achieved. Thus, the BIS 2018
Conference wants to drive the discussion of Digital Transformation
related to problems, challenges and opportunities for today’s business
markets. We invite researchers and business practitioners to present
and publish their latest research results. Our goal is to enable
sharing theoretical and practical knowledge of ongoing Digital
Transformation activities and thus to inspire researchers to think
outside the box. We hope that the inspirations from the Conference will
lead to further innovations being the next stage of Digital
Transformation.

Crisis Management (GIS)
https://iscram2018.rit.edu/sites/rit.edu.iscram2018/files/
docs/ISCRAM_2018_track_GIS.pdf
Deadline for paper submissions: January 21, 2018
* Track Description
With disasters and disaster management being an “inherently spatial”
problem, geospatial information and technologies have been widely employed
for supporting disaster and crisis management. This includes SDSS and GIS
architectures, VGI, spatial databases, spatial-temporal methods, as well as
geovisual analytics technologies, which have a great potential to build
risk map, estimate damaged areas, define evacuation routes, and plan
resource distribution. Collaborative platforms like OSM have been also
employed to support disaster management (e.g., near real-time mapping).
Nevertheless, all these geospatial big data pose new challenges for not
only geospatial data visualization, but also data modeling and analysis;
existing technologies, methodologies, and approaches now have to deal with
data shared in various formats, different velocities, and uncertainties.
Furthermore, new issues have been also emerging in urban computing and
smart cities for making communities more resilient against disasters. In
line with this year’s conference theme, the GIS Track particularly welcomes
submissions addressing aspects of geovisualization in disaster risk and
crisis research. This includes SDSS, near-real-time mapping, situational
awareness, VGI, spatio-temporal modeling, urban computing, and other
related aspects. We seek conceptual, theoretical, technological,
methodological, empirical contributions, as well as research papers
employing different methodologies, e.g., design-oriented research, case
Studies, and action research. Solid student contributions are welcome.
Track topics are therefore focused on but not limited to the following list.
1. Geospatial data analytics for crisis management
2. Location-based services for crisis management
3. Location-based technologies for crisis management
4. Geospatial ontology for crisis management
5. Geospatial big data in the context of disaster and crisis management
6. Geospatial linked data for crisis management
7. Urban computing and geospatial aspects of smart cities for crisis
management
8. Spatial Decision Support Systems for crisis management
9. Remote sensing for crisis management
10. Geospatial intelligence for crisis management
11. Spatial data management for crisis management
12. Spatial data infrastructure for crisis management
13. Geovisual analytics for crisis management
14. Spatial-temporal modeling in disaster and crisis context
15. Crisis mapping and geovisualization
16. Crowdsourcing and VGI in the context disaster and crisis management
17. Spatial analysis of OpenStreetMap (OSM) data for crisis management
18. Spatial analysis of social media messages in the context of crisis
management
19. Interoperability aspects regarding disaster-related geodata

Betreff: [AISWorld] AMCIS 2018 CFP | Big Data Driven Process Mining and
Innovation (SIGDSA)
Datum: Fri, 5 Jan 2018 20:19:47 +0000
Von: Arslan, Faruk <Arslan(a)UHCL.edu>
An: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
CALL FOR PAPERS
24th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2018)
Aug. 16-18, 2018
New Orleans, LA, USA
Track: Data Science and Analytics for Decision Support
Mini-track: Big Data Driven Process Mining and Innovation (SIGDSA)
Description of Proposed Mini-track:
One of the main aspects of business analytics is process innovation driven by the use of data generated from the day-to-day business operations of an organization. Process innovation involves workflow re-design and resource re-configuration for higher efficiency, better quality and effectiveness; improving decision-making processes for better information flow and decision-enablement. Process mining, a relatively new research discipline, may play a significant role in enabling such innovations. The objective of Process Mining is to discover, monitor and improve actual business processes by extracting knowledge from voluminous event logs generated because of the execution of those processes. The aim of this mini-track is to promote theoretical and empirical research addressing the aforementioned aspects of process innovation. Example topics may include, but are not limited to - design of data driven decision-making processes, case studies and empirical evaluation of data-driven process
innovation, process mining approaches and algorithms
Fit with Track:
With the proliferation of big data originating from multitude of sources such as social media, Internet of Things (IoT), sensor data, managers are exploring new ways to utilize data-driven decision making at various levels of the enterprise. As organizations delve into more data and analytics centric approaches for improving quality, efficiency, and effectiveness, more research is needed to inform us about the underlying challenges and opportunities. Process Innovation entails new or significantly improved methods of production and/or delivery. As such, data driven process innovation is an important subset of data-driven decision support in organizations.
Mini-track co-chairs:
1: Arti Mann, Assistant Professor, University of Northern Iowa, arti.mann(a)uni.edu
2: Faruk Arslan, Assistant Professor, University of Houston - Clear Lake, arslan(a)uhcl.edu
