Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Information Systems or a related field of study (industrial engineering, computer science, statistics), and have evidence of strong research productivity with the information systems and/or operations management field (must be "SA" by AACSB standards). The primary teaching responsibilities could include teaching Information Systems courses at the graduate level in the PhD in MIS, MS-IS, MS in Health Informatics and Analytics (HIA), MBA, and a specialized Business Analytics graduate track within other Master's degrees, as well as the undergraduate BBA in MIS. The department is specifically interested in candidates with experience and expertise in Data Analytics and Business Process/Operations Management, so research, teaching, and/or work experience in these areas will be given preference. Other areas of Information Systems will also be considered. Evidence of research productivity is required. Relevant experience in industry is preferable. The 9-month course load will be a 2 + 2 course load. Additional summer teaching opportunities may be available. Salary will be competitive, and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Social software (*) is a new paradigm that is spreading quickly in society, organizations and economics. Enterprises use social software to improve their business processes and create new business models. Social software is used both in internal and external business processes. Using social software, the communication with the customer is increasingly bi-directional. E.g. companies integrate customers into product development to capture ideas for new products and features. Social software also creates new possibilities to enhance internal business processes by improving the exchange of knowledge and information, to speed up decisions, etc. In parallel to the fact that more and more enterprises are using business process management also the individual is involved in a multitude of business processes. This creates a number of new challenges. Individuals have to cope with multiple process contexts and thus have to administer data appropriately. Furthermore, individuals have to integrate the external business processes into their own work environment or even to couple several external business processes. Human aspects of business process management relate to the individual who creates a process model, to the communication among people, during and after the process execution, and to the social process of collaborative modeling. Human aspects also relate to the interaction / collaboration / coordination / cooperation that should be implemented in the business process or to specific human-related aspects of the business process itself and their representations in models. Up to now, the interaction of social and human aspects with business processes has not been investigated in depth. Therefore, the objective of the workshop is to explore how social software interacts with business process management, how business process management has to change to comply with weak ties, social production, egalitarianism and mutual service, and how business processes may profit from these principles. Social Business: Social software supporting business processes* - Which new possibilities for the support of business processes are created by social software? - Are there business processes which require sociality, especially when they are not predictable (as production workflows) but collaborative or ad hoc? - How can we use Wikis, Blogs etc. to support business processes? - Which types of social software can be used in which phases of the BPM lifecycle? - What new kinds of business knowledge representation are offered by social production? *3. Human Aspects of Business Process Management* - What requirements are created for individuals by participating in a multitude of business processes? - Which concepts and technologies exist to support the individual in coping with different external business processes - Which further human aspects of business process management exist? - Human-centric business processes - Human resource management in business processes *Goal* Based on the eight previous successful BPMS2'2008 to BPMS2'2015 workshops, the goal of the BPMS2'2016 workshop is to promote the integration of business process management with social software and to enlarge the community pursuing the theme. *Workshop paper format* Position papers of up to 2500 words are sought. Position papers that raise relevant questions, or describe successful or unsuccessful practice, or describe experience will all be welcome. Position papers will be assigned a 20-minute presentation. Short papers of up to 1000 words can also be submitted, and will be assigned a 10-minute presentation. *Submission* Prospective authors are invited to submit papers for presentation in any of the areas listed above. The link of communicating sensors to computing intelligence motivates the rise of Internet of Things (IoT) or Industrial Internet. However, the computer tools for gleaning knowledge and insights from the unstructured data are fast gaining ground. In this context, the multi-source collection of data brings into the researchers’ attention issues that should be investigated, like novel access mechanisms and multi-source Mobile Big Data Collecting techniques. Also, the huge amount of data raises issues of distributed Big Data Storing methodologies and Intra/Inter-Big Data processing. In addition, the new trends of mobile networks that enable the inter-connection of new types of devices along with their services rise the need for adopting new data management solutions and network architectures to support the provision of novel services and applications. Furthermore, the fifth generation (5G) wireless communication systems are envisaged to lead to higher-level mobile users’ experiences, while it will also contribute to host novel services and applications, which in turn will produce a vast amount of data. With the emergence of ultra-fast 5G mobile networks and highly-featured smartphones, tablets and wearable computing devices, the prerequisites will be met for bringing cloud computing to the mobile domain.This book indicates the emerging advances in Mobile Big Data based on an engineering perspective, which are underway in research and cover a wide range of mobile applications as well as scenarios. The Overall Objective of the Book This book aims to become a state-of-the-art reference, discussing progress made, as well as prompting future directions on the theories, practices, standards and strategies that are related to the Mobile Big Data domain. The book will target methodologies aiming to take Mobile Big Data to the Cloud, and be able to process Real-Time Streaming Events on-the-move. In the past, healthcare practitioners delivered using the traditional pen and paper approach. Nowadays, the introduction of Decision Support Systems (DSS) and Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) has revolutionised the delivery of healthcare services offering profound opportunities to healthcare practitioners. However, a dearth of research exists which focuses on the design, implementation and evaluation of DSS and CDSS in public health services, especially in the field of Emergency Management and in a Developing World context. The workshop covers a range of themes focusing on decision support and decision support systems for public health services. Initially, the workshop will focus on the foundations of decision making and decision support systems (DSS). Using the lens of design, implementation and evaluation, this seminar will focus on the application of decision support and DSS within the context of two differe nt public health service domains 1) Emergency Management and 2) IT for Developing countries. Emerging trends within the domain of DSS for public health services will conclude the workshop programme. One answer to this call has been the ontological theory (drawing on the ontology of Mario Bunge) Wand and Weber introduced to the field in three seminal papers (1990, 1993, 1995). This work established three views on information systems as representations of human perceptions of a domain of interest: the representation model, the state tracking model, and the good decomposition model. This stream of work has generated a great deal of interest, and produced many papers using Wand and Weber's models to evaluate important phenomena in information systems. Notably, researchers have used ontological analysis to suggest how grammars for conceptual modeling and database design might be modified to be ontologically sound and they have evaluated the effects of these modifications on how well models are understood. As it has been 25 years since the early work in this area, this is an opportune time to assess the contribution ontological analysis has made to the IS field over the past quarter century and to look forward to new areas of application. The arrival of NoSQL databases is one of the most exciting developments in database technology in recent times. NoSQL is usually interpreted as “not only SQL” and represents such technologies as: column, document, key-store, graph, and other databases that share a common characteristic in that they do not necessarily subscribe to ACID (Atomic, Consistent, Isolated, and Durable) requirements, which are mandatory for traditional SQL technology. Instead, NoSQL databases subscribe to BASE (Basically Available, Soft State, Eventual Consistency). Furthermore, NoSQL databases invariably allow partitioning, and to satisfy the CAP (Consistency, Availability, Partitioning) theorem, compromises need to be made on consistency and availability. Unlike SQL databases, which are mainly used for transaction data, NoSQL data generally focus on behavioral data. Further, in contrast to SQL databases, which have a structured schema, NoSQL databases follow a schemaless, loose schema, or schema-on-read approach. Full implications of the NoSQL technologies are not yet clear, but one can declare that they hold the potential to foster significant technological and organizational change. The rise of NoSQL technology motivates interesting organizational, conceptual, and technical research questions that can be addressed using empirical, design science, and theoretical approaches. Examples of such questions might include: 1) What is the nature of schema for each of the four types of NoSQL database? 2) How does an analyst or user gain an understanding of the underlying structures without a conceptual model? 3) What factors influence top management in favor of adopting NoSQL technologies? 4) Will NoSQL features be absorbed in SQL databases over time? 5) How does the moniker “NoSQL”, which translates to not being something, implies something common that characterizes the diverse technologies such as column, document, key-store, and graph? 6) Do (and should) NoSQL implementations subscribe to rigorous data governance practices followed by SQL implementations? 7) How does the low-level programming needs of No SQL databases affect adoption by SQL developers? The objective of the special issue is to bring together 4-6 high-quality research and visionary papers on a broad spectrum of key subjects related to NoSQL database technologies. Submissions describing research breakthroughs, definitive results of empirical studies, conceptual approaches, and visions for near-term research and development are strongly encouraged. Topics of interest to this special issue include, but are not limited to, the following regarding NoSQL databases: * Senior management mindset issues and NoSQL adoption * Adoption/resistance by SQL developers and the market response * Assimilation of NoSQL technologies by major SQL vendors * Hybrid NoSQL databases * Polyglot persistence * Data governance practices * Information/Data quality * Does metadata complexity increase or decrease? * Retrieval consequences of ease of storage * Ease-of-use implications for query formulation * Challenges in file organization (e.g., indexing) * Conceptual modeling consistent with NoSQL databases * Subjective norms in the marketplace * Career challenges in switching from SQL to NoSQL * Fit with organizational culture * Link with agile development * Benchmarking studies reflecting real scenarios * Implications of evolving metadata when surrendering a controlled enterprise model * Theoretical underpinnings (e.g., ontological, cognitive) * SQL language versus nonprocedural NoSQL languages (e.g., Cypher) * Mission-critical application case studies Important Dates: Submission Deadline: July 1, 2016 Initial screening by Guest Editors: July 31, 2016 First round of review: October 31, 2016 Second round of review: Feb 28, 2017 Final Decision: April 15, 2017 Submission Instructions: Please submit the manuscript as an e-mail attachment to any of the co-editors.
