FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS & ACCEPTED SATELLITE EVENTS
ACM Web Science Conference (WebSci'14), June 23-26, 2014
Bloomington, Indiana, USA
websci14.org <http://websci14.org/> / @WebSciConf / #WebSci14
Deadline for papers: Feb. 23rd 2014
Web Science is the emergent science of the people, organizations,
applications, and of policies that shape and are shaped by the Web,
the largest informational artifact constructed by humans in history.
Web Science embraces the study of the Web as a vast universal
information network of people and communities. As such, Web Science
includes the study of social networks whose work, expression, and play
take place on the Web. The social sciences and computational sciences
meet in Web Science and complement one another: Studying human
behavior and social interaction contributes to our understanding of
the Web, while Web data is transforming how social science is
conducted. The Web presents us with a great opportunity as well as an
obligation: If we are to ensure the Web benefits humanity we must do
our best to understand it.
Call for Papers
The Web Science conference is inherently interdisciplinary, as it
attempts to integrate computer and information sciences,
communication, linguistics, sociology, psychology, economics, law,
political science, philosophy, digital humanities, and other
disciplines in pursuit of an understanding of the Web. This
conference is unique in the manner in which it brings these
disciplines together in creative and critical dialogue, and we invite
papers from all the above disciplines, and in particular those that
cross traditional disciplinary boundaries.
Following the success of WebSci'09 in Athens, WebSci'10 in Raleigh,
WebSci'11 in Koblenz, WebSci '12 in Evanston, and WebSci'13 in Paris,
for the 2014 conference we are seeking papers and posters that
describe original research, analysis, and practice in the field of Web
Science, as well as work that discusses novel and thought-provoking
ideas and works-in-progress.
Possible topics for submissions include, but are not limited to, the
following:
* Analysis of human behavior using social media, mobile devices, and
online communities
* Methodological challenges of analyzing Web-based
* large-scale social interaction
* Data-mining and network analysis of the Web and human communities on
the Web
* Detailed studies of micro-level processes and interactions
* on the Web
* Collective intelligence, collaborative production, and social
computing
* Theories and methods for computational social science on the Web
* Studies of public health and health-related behavior on the Web
* The architecture and philosophy of the Web
* The intersection of design and human interaction on the Web

Submission
Web Science is necessarily a very selective single track conference
with a rigorous review process. To accommodate the distinct traditions
of its many disciplines, we provide three different submission
formats: full papers, short papers, and posters. For all types of
submissions, inclusion in the ACM DL proceedings will be by default,
but not mandatory (opt-out via EasyChair). All accepted research
papers (full and short papers) will be presented during the
single-track conference. All accepted posters will be given a spot in
the single-track lightning talk session, and room to present their
papers during a dedicated poster session.
Full research papers (5 to 10 pages, ACM double column, 20 mins
presentation including Q&A)
Full research papers should present new results and original work that
has not been previously published. Research papers should present
substantial theoretical, empirical, methodological, or policy-oriented
contributions to research and/or practice.
Short research papers (up to 5 pages, ACM double column, 15 mins
presentation including Q&A)
Short research papers should present new results and original work
that has not been previously published. Research papers can present
preliminary theoretical, empirical, methodological, or policy-oriented
contributions to research and/or practice.
Posters (up to 2 pages, ACM double column, lightning talk + poster
presentation)
Extended abstracts for posters, which should be in English, can be up
to 2 pages.
Submission instructions
Full and short paper and poster submissions should be formatted
according to the official ACM SIG proceedings template
(http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates). Please
make use of the ACM 1998 classification scheme
(http://www.acm.org/about/class/1998/), and submit papers using
EasyChair at https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=websci2014.
Other creative submission formats (flexible formats)
Other types of creative submissions are also encouraged, and the exact
format and style of presentation are open. Examples might include
artistic performances or installations, interactive exhibits,
demonstrations, or other creative formats. For these submissions, the
proposers should make clear both what they propose to do, and any
special requirements they would need to successfully do it (in terms
of space, time, technology, etc.)
Review
The Web Science program committee consists of a program committee that
covers all relevant areas of Web Science. Each submission will be
refereed by three PC members and one short meta review written by a
Co-PC chair, to cover both the research background of each submission
as well as the necessary interdisciplinary aspects.
(Optional) Archival Proceedings in the ACM Digital Library
All accepted papers and posters will by default appear in the Web
Science 2014 Conference Proceedings and can also be made available
through the ACM Digital Library, in the same length and format of the
submission unless indicated otherwise (those wishing not to be indexed
and archived can "opt out" of the proceedings).

Dear colleagues,
we would like to draw your attention to a call for papers for the Business & Information Systems (BISE) special issue on "CSCW & Social Computing“, which can be found below.
BISE (the International Journal of WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK) has been a leading journal in information systems for 55 years (impact factor 2012: 1.2). We cordially invite original research contributions for this special issue until July 1, 2014.
You can also find the CFP at http://www.bise-journal.com/?p=774
3/2015 CSCW & Social Computing
Call-for-Papers
1 Special issue
----------------------
Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) has traditionally studied the interdependencies between collaborating human actors and computer systems. New CSCW systems enable completely new divisions of labor between collaborating actors and computer systems in an organizational setting. Particular examples are crowdsourcing, open innovation or the inclusion of external experts in internal processes. This has important implications for organizational structures, management and motivation.
Social Computing refers to supporting social interaction and socialization by the use of IT systems. Within that context the term Social Software is used for tools or services that ìsupport, extend or derive added value from human social behaviorî. While both terms ìSocial Computingî and ìSocial Softwareî have only become relatively popular within the last ten years, the core ideas behind them have a much longer history, going back to Vannevar Bushís ideas about the Memex in 1945.
In this special issue on "CSCW & Social Computing" we would like to focus on research that studies new human-human work and networking patterns as well as new configurations of humans and computers. Submissions should address challenges in the development, introduction and evaluation of information systems to support collaboration in teams, communities, crowds and social networks in and around organizations. Since supporting human work by information systems requires both an adequate understanding of technological developments and of work practices submissions can and should cover organizational, social and technical issues.
In the context of this focus we are asking for submissions from research and practice, e.g. on the following topics:
* Creating Value with Crowdsourcing
* Optimizing core organizational processes with CSCW
* From vision to action:† Collaborative Innovation Processes
* Future Trends for Collaboration Systems
* Vertical specialization of Collaboration Systems
* Big Data and Collaboration
* Organizational uses for social media
* Social Collaboration in the Digital workplace
* Enterprise Social Networks
* Ubiquitous Collaboration
* Collaboration Systems for Managing Complexity
* Collaboration and the Customer Experience
* Observed Collaboration Phenomena and Theories to Explain Them
2 Submission Guidelines
---------------------------------
Authors are asked to submit their papers online under the category ìBISE-CSCW and Social Computingî by 2014-07-01 via the journalís submission system Editorial Manager (http://www.editorialmanager.com/buis/). All papers must follow the typing and formatting instructions for WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK/BUSSINESS & INFORMATION SYSTEMS ENGINEERING (BISE) available at http://www.bise-journal.org. In particular, manuscripts should not exceed 50,000 characters (discounting 5,000 characters for each figure/table). Detailed authorsí guidelines can be downloaded from http://www.bise-journal.org.
Submissions are accepted in English only. All papers will be reviewed anonymously (double-blind process) by several referees with regard to relevance, originality, and research quality. In addition to the editors of the journal, including those of this special focus, distinguished national and international professionals with scientific and practical backgrounds will be involved in the review process.

Call for Papers: 20th Americas Conference on Information Systems AMCIS
August 7-10, 2014, Savannah, Georgia, USA
Â
Dear Colleagues,â??
We welcome papers for the AMCIS 20104 Mini Track titled "Business
Models for the Digital Economy".
Description:
This minitrack serves as a forum for the presentation and discussion of
new and innovative approaches of business models beyond e-commerce for
coping with the challenges of the digital economy. We consider an
economy based on the digitization of information and the respective
information and communication infrastructure as digital economy. This
new type of economy implies not only technological, but also and
especially structural and process-related challenges and potential. The
way in which economic value is created will change fundamentally in the
digital economy and thus transform the structure of economies and societies.
This evolution will radically alter processes and structures within and
between industries leading to the digital economy. All of these
developments characterize the emerging digital economy and cause new
challenges businesses have to cope with. This clearly will have a major
impact on how business models have to be designed. Therefore this
minitrack addresses all topics concerned with the analysis, design,
development, implementation, and control of future business models for
the creation of economic value in the digital economy from a
communication, organizational, business, economic, and managerial
perspective applying a theoretical, conceptual, or practical approach.
Suggested topics:
Challenges and foundations of the digital economy
Analytical and architectural frameworks for new business models
Business Model generation
Disruptive Business Models in the Digital Economy
Design approaches/methods for new business models
Models and modeling techniques/approaches for new business models
Industry perspectives on business models
Social Media and Social Networks based business models
Challenges of converging industries:
Financial industry (e.g., emerging intermediaries, private/retail
banking, insurance)
Media industry (e.g., publishing, music business)
 Telecommunications (e.g., mobile network operators)
A business model perspective onÂ
 Social Commerce
  Mobile BusinessÂ
  â??Ubiquitous Commerceâ??
  â??Collaborative Commerceâ??
Trust and new business models.

The 11th IEEE International Conference on Services Computing (SCC 2014)
=======================================================================
http://conferences.computer.org/scc/2014/
June 27 - July 2, 2014 in Anchorage, Alaska, USA.
Sponsored by the Technical Committee on Services Computing (TC-SVC), IEEE
Computer
Society
Services account for a major part of the IT industry today. Companies
increasingly
like to focus on their core expertise area and use IT services to address
all their
peripheral needs. Services Computing is a new science which aims to study
and better
understand the foundations of this highly popular industry. It covers the
science
and technology of leveraging computing and information technology to
model, create,
