You are invited to submit a paper for presentation and discussion at the
2014 pre-ECIS Special Interest Group (SIG) eGovernment workshop, to be
held on 8 June 2014, in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The general objective of SIG eGovernment is to promote quality and
relevance in eGovernment research. As previous SIG eGovernment pre-AIS
event workshops, this workshop is dedicated to open discussions about
the most important issues today, theoretical streams and different
possible ways forward. The focus of the workshop is informed discussion.
*/Workshop Objective/*
Transformations in the digital public sector call for a redefinition of
the roles of Information Systems and innovation-driving public service
models comprising co-development processes. Approaches like the
CO-design, CO-creative CO-constructive development ("CO3") have been
setting the process-framework with living labs, participatory design and
open innovation.
Four main streams of change can be identified in re-shaping the public
sector:
·The generation and opening up of larger amounts of data from public
sector operations.
·Increased and strengthened interactions between government and citizens.
·Simplified and speedier IS development and deployment.
·The growth of new financial solutions with innovation consortia and
public/private partnerships.
The goal of this workshop is to provide an informal interactive venue
for discussing the expanding knowledge on these streams, and on their
inter-relationships, by bridging the perspectives from IS, e-government,
public administration and social sciences, and from the practitioner and
citizen perspectives.
eGovernment-related questions to be discussed include (but are not
limited to):
- Big/open data.
- Smart Cities.
- Social media and services.
- Open innovation.
- Citizen-centric eGovernment.
- User-driven eGovernment design, management, and implementation.
- Transparency and openness.
- The relationship between eGovernment and the IS field.
- Engaging stakeholders in eGovernment research.
- Challenges of open-source and open-standard solutions.
Details of the programme will be made available online at:
http://start.aisnet.org/members/group.aspx?id=89758
*/Submission/*
We welcome full research papers, research in progress, and discussion
papers. Full papers should be max 5000 words. Discussion papers may be
short, just a few pages, but should clearly and distinctly address one
or more issues pertinent to eGovernment research including research
methods and quality as well as focus of studies. Papers should be
designed to support in-depth discussions of one of these issues during
the workshop. The workshop papers will be clustered and each session
will discuss a small set of papers focusing on similar or related issues.
Each submission will be reviewed by the workshop co-chairs and at least
one external reviewer. The submission will not be published as
proceedings, and the authors will retain full authorship rights.

Creating a sustainable environment is a critical problem facing the
whole world. We are all affected by global climate change and other
massive environmental shifts, such as rising sea levels, ocean
acidification and loss of biodiversity. These issues must be addressed
before we go beyond the tipping point where the effects cannot be reversed.
More and better quality information is a perquisite for perceiving the
state of the environment and then making appropriate decisions to
ameliorate identified problems. Given that information systems have been
the major force for productivity increases in the last half-century, it
is appropriate that IS scholars immerse themselves in creating solutions
for environmental problems. Indeed, given the immensity of the
ecological problems we face, it is imperative that that there is large
scale involvement by the IS scholarly community in helping to create a
sustainable society. Such engagement requires IS scholars to keep in
mind the ultimate goal of solving significant societal problems related
to environmental degradation.
For this special issue, we invite papers oriented towards IS solutions
for environmental sustainability.Authors should identify the
environmental problem their paper addresses and justify its
significance. Authors should indicate what actions their research
suggests and give an indication of the available evidence to suggest
that these actions will achieve their purpose. The goal of this Special
Issue is to encourage authors to undertake research that can contribute
to the solution of environmental problems. Thus, papers that address
this goal are suitable candidates for submission. We encourage authors
to submit an initial abstract so that the editors can provide guidance
on the potential fit to this special issue's purpose of enhancing
environmental sustainability.
*Submissions are not restricted to a particular methodology or unit of
analysis, but they should be focused on the creation of a more
sustainable society.*
Some possible questions for considerationare:^^[1] <#_ftn1>
.What are the information requirements for a sustainable society? For
example, what data, in terms of attributes and granularity, are required
for pollution reporting and pricing?
.What information do consumers need about the usage of the objects they
own or manage to increase their awareness of their ecological impact?
.How can information systems be used to change social norms to advance
sustainability?
.How can information systems be deployed to reduce environmental damage,
such as reducing carbon emissions?
.What information granularity will lead to more effective enforcement of
environmental regulations?
.What information reporting standards for organizations and products
will enhance environmental decision making by governments,
organizations, and consumers?
.What theories have sufficient prescriptive accuracy to be useful in
designing systems for a sustainable society?
Submissions need not be limited to the preceding list of questions.

We invite the submission of papers to the IS in Non-profits and Social
Enterprises Mini-track at the 20th Americas Conference on Information
Systems (AMCIS), which will be held on August 7-10, 2014 in Savannah,
Georgia.
Many organizations operate with a primary mission to serve the common
good. Non-profit organizations, such as charities, focus on impacting
the root causes of social problems in communities. Social enterprises
aim to improve human well-being using traditional business methods and
commercial strategies. These organizations focus on long-lasting social
issues such as poverty, homelessness, education inequality, financial
instability, lack of healthcare access and knowledge, etc. Both
non-profits and social enterprises have various constraints that impact
technology adoption, diffusion, and utilization towards efforts in
achieving their strategic goals. Examples include regulatory issues,
heavy reliance on volunteer staff, limited finances, etc.
Interestingly, given these salient factors, there has been minimal
research that focuses on the strategic use of technology within these
organization types.
There is significant potential to examine and improve how these
organization types harness the power of information systems (IS) and
technology (IT) to accelerate social impact. It is essential to focus
on IS/IT utilization within non-profit and social enterprise
organizations in order to continue developing a more in-depth
understanding of strategic use and impact of IS/IT within these
organizations. This mini-track solicits completed and
research-in-progress papers addressing IS/IT issues in non-profits or
social enterprises. Papers can be conceptual, theoretical, design,
empirical, or case studies.
Situated in non-profit or social enterprise organizations, topics of
interest include, but are not limited to:
* Design, development, deployment, and use or utilization of IS/IT
* Intra- and inter-organizational IS/IT issues
* Individual attitudes, behaviors, or characteristics that impact
strategic use of IS/IT
* Multiple stakeholder perspectives on IS/IT issues
* IS/IT governance or policy issues
* Evaluation and assessment of IS/IT impact on organizational performance
* Social media, networking, and analytics
* Business intelligence and related tools
* Innovative and novel IS/IT applications

Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to submit your papers to the forthcoming
Transforming Government (t-Gov) workshop, organised and held at Brunel
University on June 12^th and 13^th 2014. The t-Gov workshop brings
together for the 5^th year, both local and international researchers and
practitioners to participate in sharing ideas for the transformation of
government services through enabling electronic systems and processes.
It includes a full program of papers, presentations and keynote
speakers. Quality contributions will be double blind peer reviewed, for
refereed proceedings that will be published online. */This year, we plan
to hold a Horizon 2020 workshop to explore potential opportunities in
ICT-enabled Public Sector Innovation in the new EU H2020 framework
programme for Research and Innovation/*/./ We believe this will allow
colleagues to form meaningful partnership for future collaborative bids.
*Theme -- Co-Creating Public Services of the Future: The Role of ICT and
Citizens' Participation in Transforming Government *
*Introduction:*
E-Government is a trend that is highly driven through advances in
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the public services
demanded by its stakeholders. The international popularity of the topic
of e-Government has led to various studies being conducted across
countries assessing the on-going developments, the readiness and impact
of e-Government by the research community. E-government implementation
efforts have now evolved from basic information provisioning to more
integrated and joined-up service. Concepts such as citizens'
participation in shaping the direction of public policy and co-creating
public services have naturally emerged as innovative ways in which
e-Government can have a transformative affect on public services. Having
successfully implemented a number of transaction-based e-services by
e-enabling statuary public functions has now prompted a move of emphasis
towards realising transformational government (or t-Government) through
redesigning more complex service based functions such as healthcare,
education and social services. The transformational phase is considered
the highest level of maturity for e-Government programmes and
encompasses redefining the delivery of both statuary and service
functions performed by government institutions. As such, the efforts to
realise t-Government have moved from focusing on redesigning back office
functions in the late 2000s to now using ICT innovations as a means to
redefine the way services are delivered to users through challenging the
norm. Moreover, as public finances are becoming ever tighter,
governments are seeking more cost effective and efficient ways of
delivering some of those services that were traditionally delivered by
public institutions. To this end, concepts such as crowd-sourcing,
social entrepreneurship and social innovation have also emerged as
pertinent themes in the e-Government research landscape that can drive
transformation across the public sector. Furthermore, 21^st century
digital citizens now expect from the public sector the same level of
efficiency, responsiveness and personalisation that they are accustomed
in the private sector. However, the development of citizen-centred
e-Government has been slow globally due to hesitancy by key players in
the public sector to take decisive steps (and responsibility) to move
from a representative system of government towards participatory and
direct democracy. Yet, the potential offered by the internet and
evolving ICTs are significant and coupled with the push for innovation
from industry and public funding bodies, researchers and practitioners
are offered the opportunity and platform for research and innovation to
address these gaps.
**
*Coverage: *

Business Intelligence and Big Data Analytics Track
Chengdu, China, June 24-28, 2014
Track details: http://pacis2014.org/track_es.php
Track description:
Enterprise System (ES), as one of the most costly IT innovation
investment by a formal organization, has gained significant progress in
terms of research and practice for the last two decades. As a
large-scale, integrated software package, ES simplifies, coordinates and
manages almost all the business processes andinformation flow across
multiple business units(e.g. accounting, marketing, manufacturing and
logistics) resulting in an organized management of an entire
organization. Due to its organization-wide impact, significant research
attention has been expanded to understand various essential, yet
multifaceted issues relating to ES design, implementation, adoption, and
upgrade.
To provide better services to organizational users, ES has developed,
over the years, from providing back office services (known as Enterprise
Resource Planning system) to affording front office and
inter-organizational services (such as Customer Relationship Management
and value-chain systems). Recently, ES vendors have begun exploring the
new era of ES applications with Cloud ERP computing, web services (e.g.,
web 2.0 role in ES), high-performance analytics appliance (e.g., SAP
HANA), and mobile applications and technologies to accelerate key
business process, speed decision making, and better customers engagement
for maximized revenue and productivity. Thus, such rapid technological
development and its indispensable role in organizations warrant novel
and forward looking papers, which propose and critically evaluate new
ways of thinking about business processes, system development, and
innovative enterprise architecture.
We welcome papers that adopt conceptual and empirical researches
representing all ontological perspectives. Our intention is to provide a
forum to bridging both researchers and educators with alike interests to
(a) share their current work and plan future directions for the field,
and (b) stimulate future collaborations in research.
Possible topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
.Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management in ES
.Business process management frameworks (e.g. COBIT, Six-sigma, PMI and
SCOR)
.Business process management, adoption, governance and innovation
.Cloud ES, ERP II and Business Process Modeling Tools
.ES design, implementation, and maintenance in small, medium and large
organizations
.ES benefits evaluation and realization
.ES upgrade and post-implementation challenges, issues and critical
success factors
.ES software and vendor selection and adoption challenges and tips
.Extended ES, including SCM system and CRM system
.ES analytics, future role of big data, predictive and mobile computing
.Inter- and intra-organizational integration of ES and IT infrastructures
.Strategic alignment of business process management (e.g., value-based
process management)
