Late registration: [TBA]
Workshop dates: 27-28 August 2012
-- Description of the workshop --
Dealing with context is one of the most interesting and most important
problems faced in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Traditional AI applications
often require to model, store, retrieve and reason about knowledge that
holds within certain circumstances - the context. Without considering this
contextual information, reasoning can easily run to problems such as:
inconsistency, when considering knowledge in the
wrong context; inefficiency, by considering knowledge irrelevant for a
certain context; incompleteness, since an inference may depend on knowledge
assumed in the context and not explicitly stated. Contextual information is
also relevant in many tasks in knowledge representation and reasoning such
as common-sense reasoning, dealing with inconsistency, ambiguity, and
uncertainty, evolution, etc.
In recent years, research in contextual knowledge representation and
reasoning became more relevant in the areas of Semantic Web, Linked Open
Data, and Ambient Intelligence, where knowledge is not considered a
monolithic and static asset, but it is distributed in a network of
interconnected heterogeneous and evolving knowledge resources. The ARCOE
workshop aims to provide a dedicated forum for researchers interested in
these topics to discuss recent developments, important open issues, and
future directions.
-- Topics --
ARCOE-12 welcomes submissions on the topics below as well as on their
intersection and other topics related to acquisition, representation,
reasoning with context and its applications.

CALL FOR PAPERS
18th Americas Conference on Information Systems
Seattle, Washington, August 9-12, 2012
Minitrack: Advancing Enterprise Resource Planning Through Technology
Description:
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have evolved from large
monolithic systems to more and more fragmented systems distributing just
about any aspect of a system: functions, processes, data, hardware and
infrastructure. This change has gone hand in hand with the incorporation
of more and more business functionality into ERP. Starting from material
requirements planning (MRP) and manufacturing resource planning (MRP
II), the financial and human resources functions as well as executive
information systems and eventually long-term strategic planning support
for senior management have been included. These developments have made
an ERP system "the" core information system of an organization – and the
technological backbone that other information systems need to
collaborate with. ERP related functionality such as supply chain
management (SCM), customer relationship management (CRM) and supplier
relationship management (SRM) is either integrated, embedded or closely
coupled with an ERP system.
Software, hardware and networking technology has enabled the increased
importance of ERP systems, but it also posed technological and
managerial challenges. In contrast to the early ERP monoliths, we
nowadays have distributed architectures – both conventional in-house
architectures such as client-server and service oriented architectures
(SOA) as well as externally hosted architectures used by
application-service-providing (ASP) and software-on-demand solutions.
With the appearance of mobile commerce, software-as-a-service (SaaS)
approaches and cloud computing, additional challenges have emerged.
Technologies such as radio frequency identification (RFID) have opened
up new opportunities for an organization to act and react in real-time.
RFID, smart items and the "Internet of things" impose new requirements
on ERP systems, such as being capable of context-aware information
processing.
For the new technologies to be successfully implemented, security issues
need to be resolved and a satisfactory level of trust in the
technologies has to be created. Organizations seem to be hesitant about
having their mission-critical business processes run somewhere out in a
"cloud" and maintaining their core business data in a nirvana.
Nevertheless, cloud computing is rapidly gaining pace.
In the past, the vendors of software-on-demand solutions have not been
able to generate significant revenue from this type of solution. This is
about to change, as cloud computing is penetrating every branch of
business information processing.
The rationale of this minitrack is exploration of new technologies that
can further enhance enterprise resource planning. We invite papers that
pursue a constructionist approach to information systems development,
following an engineering-like or design-science research style. Papers
presenting the development of prototypes as a proof of concept are
welcome. Technology-oriented papers should give consideration to the
business value of the proposed approaches or solutions.
Suggested Topics:
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Architectures for ERP and related business information systems
- ERP systems based on service oriented architectures (SOA)
- Software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions for ERP and related areas
- Orchestrating an ERP system from web services/enterprise services
- ERP on demand for small and medium-size enterprises
- Federated ERP systems, standardization and collaboration issues
- ERP and cloud computing
- Impact of virtualization and infrastructure-as-a-service on ERP
- Integrating RFID solutions with ERP
- Impact of the "Internet of things" on future ERP systems
- Integrating legacy ERP systems with new components using
state-of-the-art technologies
- Mobile ERP and related areas such as mobile SCM, mobile CRM and mobile
SRM
- Security issues and trust in new technologies for enterprise resource
planning

Subject: [AISWorld] IWSECO 2012: Call for Papers

IWSECO 2012: The Fourth International Workshop on Software
Ecosystems
18th of June 2012 - Boston, Massachusetts
Co-located with the Fourth International Conference on
Software Business
http://www.softwareecosystems.org/workshop/
CALL FOR PAPERS
After three successful workshops (2009, 2010, 2011) IWSECO
continues its world tour to Boston, MA, in 2012. Due to its
more business oriented nature, this year we seek submissions
specifically geared towards governance and coordination
mechanisms for software ecosystems.
Software vendors no longer function as independent units,
where all customers are end-users, where there are no
suppliers, and where all software is built in-house.
Instead, software vendors have become networked, i.e.,
software vendors are depending on (communities of) service
and software component suppliers, value-added-resellers, and
pro-active customers who build and share customizations.
Software vendors now have to consider their strategic role
in the software ecosystem to survive. With their role in the
software ecosystems in mind, software vendors can become
more successful by opening up their business, devising new
business models, forging long-lasting relationships with
partnership networks, and overcoming technical and social
challenges that are part of these innovations.
The focus of the first workshop was the definition of the
research field. The second workshop?s focus was the ?ideal?
architecture of a software platform. The third workshop on
software ecosystems focused on the modeling of software
ecosystems. This fourth workshop we intend to talk about
managing ecosystems, i.e., how to manage a network of
partners, developers, service deliverers, and other third
parties that play a role in the software ecosystem.
Typically, software vendors have several instruments
available to them for managing their ecosystem, such as the
creation of partnership models or the introduction of
component and service certification. The effects of these
decisions on the software ecosystem have not yet been made
measurable, which can be considered one of the main
challenges of the field of software ecosystems. We welcome
submissions that specifically address this topic.
A software ecosystem is a set of actors functioning as a
unit and interacting with a shared market for software and
services, together with the relationships among them. These
relationships are frequently underpinned by a common
technological platform or market and operate through the
exchange of information, resources and artifacts. Several
challenges lie in the research area of software
ecosystems. To begin with, insightful and scalable modeling
techniques for software ecosystems currently do not exist.
Furthermore, methods are required that enable software
vendors to transform their legacy architectures to
accommodate reusability of internal common artifacts and
external components and services. Finally, methods are
required that support software vendors in choosing survival
strategies in software ecosystems.
The Workshop on Software Ecosystems aims to further increase
the body of knowledge in this specific area of software
reuse and software engineering by providing a forum to
exchange ideas and discuss state-of-the-art results. It will
build and shape the community of leading practitioners and
research experts. Given the relevance of software
ecosystems, and the rather unexplored scientific and
industry contribution in this field, the workshop will
deliver a state-of-the-practice overview of the available
knowledge on software ecosystems, as well as an overview of
challenges for further research.
* Relevant Topics *
Submitted papers shall address topics of interest to
software ecosystems and software business. Topics of
interest include, but are certainly not limited to:
-Organizational openness
-Two and N-sided markets
-Application Stores
-Strategic benefits analyses of ecosystem management
-Partner management
-Software development governance
-Software ecosystem modeling
-Software ecosystem practices and experience
-Software business models
-Product software and software licensing
-Economic impact of software ecosystems
-Software ecosystem creation
-Keystone and niche player survival strategies
-Formal modeling of business models
-Architectural implications of reusability
-API development
-Publishing APIs
-Software product management
-Software product lines
-Software development community management
-Software ecosystem orchestration
-Market-specific domain engineering
-Open source software ecosystems
-Virtualized software enterprises
-API compatibility over subsequent releases
* Workshop proceedings *
We have no specific information about the publisher, but we
are looking for IEEE or ACM support. We are in search of a
scientific journal for publishing of extended and revised
versions of the best papers. In previous years papers have
been published using CEUR-WS or ACM.
* Paper preparation, submission and evaluation *
We welcome both research and industry papers to IWSECO. They
must be original and not submitted to or accepted by any
other conference or journal. To encourage industrial
participation we also welcome short industry papers and case
studies. Papers should be submitted in electronic form (PDF)
using EasyChair at
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iwseco2012 .
Papers must be formatted using the LNBIP style and can fill
a maximum of 12 pages.
* Objective *
IWSECO 2012 pursues the following objectives:
- Build upon the body of knowledge in software ecosystems,
and identify challenges and future avenues for research
relevant for both academia and industry.
- Establish software ecosystems as a research field within
the greater field of software engineering, software
management, and software reuse.
- Provide to software product managers and researchers a
dedicated forum for exchanging ideas and best practices and
thus foster industry-academia collaboration.
- The field of software ecosystems is rather unexplored both
from scientific and industrial perspectives. This mandates
IWSECO to participate in bringing researchers and industrial
representatives together, for the purpose of exchanging
ideas, but also to iteratively set the research agenda based
on industry needs. The IWSECO 2012 workshop aims at
continuing to increase the body of knowledge for software
ecosystems by providing a forum to exchange ideas and
publish research results. It will build and shape the
community of leading practitioners and research experts.

Editorial News
The terms of two of the longest serving senior editors have
ended in 2011. Murray Turoff from the New Jersey Institute
of Technology and J.P. Shim from Mississippi State
University have served JITTA for many years. We would like
to thank them for their dedicated service and valuable
contributions to the journal. Roman Beck from the University
of Frankfurt, Jan Recker from Queensland University of
Technology, and Nancy Russo from Northern Illinois
University have agreed to serve as Senior Editors starting
in 2012. We are happy that they will be joining the
editorial team and we are looking forward to working with them.
The Current Issue
In the current issue we publish two design science research
articles that develop artifacts relating to organizational
processes. The first article (Adriansyah et al. 2011)
describes the development and implementation of a business
process analysis tool that utilizes a method to compute
performance characteristics for complex process models. The
research develops an analysis method that replays log data
previously collected to analyze actual performance against
process definitions. Analyzing process performance using the
tool enables organizations to identify and address
inefficiencies.
The second article (Bragge et al. 2011) focuses on the
increasing need for collaboration across organizational
boundaries. The paper develops a method for setting up a
value system in a new technology field. To develop this
method, the research draws from information systems science,
industrial marketing management, and strategic management.
As a proof of concept, the approach has been applied in a
technology firm. The study not only presents an approach for
the creation of collaborative networks, but also provides an
initial insight on why a major technology firm utilizes such
networks to obtain a collaborative advantage.

--------
- Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE). BPMDS
is officially linked on an ongoing basis to the CAiSE conference series
(http://www.caise2012.univ.gda.pl/).
- International Federation for Information Processing Working Group 8.1
(IFIP WG 8.1) (https://research.idi.ntnu.no/ifip-wg81/). Sponsor since 2009.
ABOUT THE BPMDS CONFERENCE:
--------------------------
The topics addressed by the BPMDS series are focused on IT support for
business processes. This is one of the keystones of Information Systems
theory. We strongly believe that any major conference in the area of
Information Systems needs to address such topics independently of the
current fashion. The continued interest in these topics on behalf of the
IS community is reflected by the success of the last BPMDS workshops and
the recent emergence of new conferences devoted to the theme.
The BPMDS series has produced twelve workshops from 1998 to 2011. From
2011, BPMDS became a two-day working conference attached to CAiSE
(Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering).
While changing the status of BPMDS, we preserved the basic principles of
the BPMDS series:
1. BPMDS serves as a meeting place for researchers and practitioners in
the areas of business development, and business applications (software)
development
2. The aim of the event is mainly discussions, rather than presentations.
3. Each event has a theme that is, from now, mandatory for visionary papers.
4. Each event's results are, usually, published in a special issue of an
international journal.
The goals, format, and history of BPMDS can be found on the web site:
http://www.ibissoft.se/bpmds.html
BACKGROUND AND AIMS:
-------------------
As a working conference, we would like to attract more papers describing
mature research, still giving place to industrial reports and visionary
papers. In addition, we will have a theme whose relevance will be the
main criterion for the selection of visionary papers only. We no longer
require for full research papers and experience reports to be directly
connected to this theme (they still need to be explicitly relevant to
BPMDS though). We only suggest to the authors of research papers and
experience reports, wherever possible, to make connection to the theme.
The theme chosen for BPMDS'12 visionary papers is:
"Business processes and Business Process Management in the Cloud"
We invite the visionaries (from research and industry) to exploit this
theme in relation to BPMDS. We also welcome research papers that include
ideas on how theoretical results discussed can be used in practice, as
well as experience reports on using theories in practice.
TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION:
----------------------
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Theoretical foundations for analyzing, modeling, simulating or
executing business processes
- Business process modeling languages, notations and methods
- Multi-perspectives on business process modeling: integration and coherence
- A broad view on strategy, business processes, people and IT:
alignment, fit and coherence
- Dynamic configuration; modeling by reuse
- Granularity, development of reusable and context-aware components;
modeling for reuse
- Domain specific reference models
- Business-IT alignment through business processes
- Resource management in business process modeling and support
- User-oriented aspects of the business process modeling and support
- Cross-organizational business processes
- Business process change management and governance issues
- Verification and validation of business process models
- Variability and adaptability of business process models
- Efficiency, adequacy, flexibility, agility, compliance, reliability,
security in business process modeling and execution
- Metrics, maturity and continuous improvement
- Business process support architectures and platforms
- BPMDS based on a service-oriented architecture
- BPMDS combined with social software and social networks
- Mobile technologies and context aware business process modeling
SUBMISSIONS:
-----------
Papers submission deadline: February 26th, 2012
Prospective conference participants are invited to submit a paper that
concerns business process modeling and development, and business process
support (development of software dedicated to business processes) and
that may be related to one or more of the topics for discussion listed
above. We solicit the papers (both research papers and experience
reports) that contain results worth of discussion. For full research
papers, it means that reported research should be in an advance stage
and a paper includes results and at least partial evaluation.
Thus three kinds of submissions are possible:
(1) Full research papers.
(2) Experience reports, which should follow guidelines in
http://processplatsen.ibissoft.se/node/72.
(3) Idea papers related to the focus theme, devoted to completely new
research positions or approaches, in order to face to a generic
situation that arises because of, for instance, new methods and tools or
new types of emerging challenges; the compliance to the focus theme is
mandatory for idea papers, which should describe precisely the situation
and demonstrate the shortcomings of current methods, tools, ways of
reasoning, meta-models, etc.
Papers of all submission types should be of up to 15 pages. Please
follow the LNCS format instructions at
http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html for all of them.
Papers should be submitted in Adobe PDF format. The results described
must be unpublished and must not be under review elsewhere. The papers
should be submitted through the conference management system available
at https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=bpmds2012
E-mail also your abstract as an attachment to
mailto:selmin.nurcan@univ-paris1.fr
PUBLICATIONS:
------------
The conference proceedings will be published in a Springer LNBIP volume
(joint with EMMSAD), "Enterprise, Business-Process and Information
Systems Modeling”, as the three previous years (LNBIP 29, LNBIP 50 and
LNBIP 81).
After the BPMDS’12 conference, extended versions of the accepted papers
will be considered for publishing in a special issue of an international
journal. The previous special issues are:
- BPMDS’11 in IJISMD in progress
- BPMDS’10 selected papers in REJ in progress

Betreff: [AISWorld] CfP Reminder - AMCIS 2012: Minitrack on Negative
Cognitions About IS

CALL FOR PAPERS
AMCIS 2012
Seattle, Washington
August 9-12, 2012
Track: HCI Studies in Information Systems (SIGHCI)
Mini-track: Negative Cognitions About Information Systems
There is an increasingly persistent dichotomy in the way that emerging Information Systems (IS)-enabled patterns for work and collaboration are affecting IS users. On the one hand, they enable vast improvements in processes and decisions. On the other, they lead to negative cognitions and outcomes such as stress, frustrations and information overload. There has been a recent surge of interest in negative cognitions associated with using IS related, for example, to technostress, intrusiveness and deceptiveness, credibility and deception, addiction to technology use, and distrust. These studies explore various facets of detrimental conditions that users of IS experience-conditions that, given the ubiquity of IS use, are potentially pervasive.
The objective of this mini-track is to develop theoretical insight and understanding on HCI topics and issues that address this "troubling" side of IS. Submissions addressing all aspects of this topic are welcome. We welcome conceptual, theoretical or empirical research papers. We particularly welcome papers that apply theories and perspectives from different disciplines (e.g., theories of stress from psychology, information overload and interruption from information science, and work-life balance from industrial management) to examine various aspects of this phenomenon.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
1. Implications for design of systems and interfaces regarding: conceptualizations of troubling or negative interactions between IS and users, such as interruptions, information overload, constant connectivity to work-related information processing, addiction to IS use, and difficulties in learning how to use constantly changing technologies and applications.
2. Implications for design of systems and interfaces regarding: outcomes from the above interactions such as stress, difficulty in concentrating, multitasking, user dissatisfaction, effects on productivity and performance, disruption of work-life balance, over-dependence on IS.
3. Any other HCI topics related to negative affective responses and the cause and effect relationships between cues embedded in system designs and/or methods that can mitigate or exacerbate those negative responses.
IMPORTANT DATES:
March 1, 2012 - Deadline for paper submissions
April 6, 2012 - Notification of acceptance
April 25, 2012 - Final copy due

Dear Gustaf Neumann,
Let me kindly inform you that the International Conference on Knowledge Management and Information Sharing (KMIS 2012 - http://www.kmis.ic3k.org/) steering committee cordially invites you to submit a paper to the KMIS 2012 Conference, to be held in Barcelona, Spain. The deadline for paper submission is scheduled for April 17, 2012.
Knowledge Management (KM) is a discipline concerned with the analysis and technical support of practices used in an organization to identify, create, represent, distribute and enable the adoption and leveraging of good practices embedded in collaborative settings and, in particular, in organizational processes. Effective knowledge management is an increasingly important source of competitive advantage, and a key to the success of contemporary organizations, bolstering the collective expertise of its employees and partners.
Information Sharing (IS) is a term used for a long time in the information technology (IT) lexicon, related to data exchange, communication protocols and technological infrastructures. Although standardization is indeed an essential element for sharing information, IS effectiveness requires going beyond the syntactic nature of IT and delve into the human functions involved in the semantic, pragmatic and social levels of organizational semiotics.
The two areas are intertwined as information sharing is the foundation for knowledge management.
KMIS is interested in promoting high quality research as it can be confirmed by last year acceptance rates, where from 134 submissions, 8% were accepted as full papers. Additionally, 21% were presented as short papers and 17% as posters.
The IC3K program features a number of Keynote Lectures to be delivered by distinguished world-class researchers, namely:
- Daniel O'Leary, University of Southern California, United States
(list not yet complete)
http://www.ic3k.org/KeynoteSpeakers.aspx
Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All accepted papers (full, short and posters) will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support. CKEI
A short list of presented papers will be selected so that revised and extended versions of these papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in a CCIS Series book.
The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), INSPEC, DBLP and EI (Elsevier Index).
All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SciTePress Digital Library (http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/). SciTePress is member of CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org/).
Best paper awards will be distributed during the conference closing session. Please check the website for further information (http://www.kmis.ic3k.org/BestPaperAward.aspx).
Workshops, special sessions, tutorials as well as demonstrations dedicated to other technical/scientific topics are also envisaged: companies interested in presenting their products/methodologies or researchers interested in holding a tutorial are invited to contact the conference secretariat. Workshop Chairs and Special Session Chairs will benefit from logistics support and other types of support, including secretariat and financial support, to facilitate the development of a valid idea.
KMIS 2012 is co-located with two related conferences in a joint conference (IC3K - http://www.ic3k.org/) format, namely:
- Knowledge Discovery and Information Retrieval (http://www.kdir.ic3k.org/)
- Knowledge Engineering and Ontology Development (http://www.keod.ic3k.org/)
Registration to one conference allows free access to all conferences.
We hope to welcome you in Barcelona, Spain next October, 2012!

SBP'12: Joint Workshop on Security in Business Processes
<http://www.inf.unibz.it/sbp12/>
in conjunction with the
10th Int'l Conference on Business Process Management
<http://bpm2012.ut.ee/>
Despite the growing demand for compliant business processes, security
and privacy incidents caused by erroneous process specifications are
still omnipresent. In fact, often business process management and
security issues stand out as separate silos, and are seldom addressed
together towards the development of trustworthy, compliant business
processes.
By combining the successful experiences of the First International
Workshop on Alignment of the Business Process and Security Modelling
(ABPSM'11) and Workshop on Workflow Security Audit and Certification
(WfSAC'11), the Joint Workshop on Security in Business Processes
(SBP'12) brings together researchers and practitioners interested in
security management of business process in process-aware information
systems.
SBP'12 encourages innovative methods for workflow security audit and
control along the entire business process life-cycle: from design time
verification to online operational support and post-mortem
analysis. Furthermore, it welcomes contributions beyond the strictly
technical character, for instance those considering economic, legal and
standardization issues.
