2nd Enterprise Engineering Working Conference
(EEWC 2012)

May, 07-08, 2012
Delft, The Netherlands
Proceedings published in
Springer Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing
(LNBIP)

Motivation
----------
Modern enterprises face a strong pressure to increase agility and
competitiveness, to operate on the global market, and to engage in manifold
alliances. However, the vast majority of strategic initiatives in enterprises
fail, meaning that enterprises are unable to gain success from their strategy.
The key reason for these failures is the lack of coherence and consistency
among the various components of an enterprise. At the same time, the need to
operate as a unified and integrated whole is becoming increasingly important.
Currently, these challenges are dominantly addressed from a functional or
managerial perspective, as advocated by the management and organization
sciences, and as implemented in MBA programs. Such knowledge is indeed
necessary for managing an enterprise, but it is inadequate for bringing about
changes. To do that, one needs to take a constructional or engineering
perspective. Only engineers bring about changes.
In addition, both organizations and software applications are complex systems,
prone to entropy. This means that in the course of time, the costs of bringing
about similar changes increase in a way that is known as combinatorial
explosion. Entropy can be reduced and managed effectively through modular
design based on atomic elements.
Lastly, the individual persons in an enterprise, in cooperation, are ultimately
responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the enterprise. They
are also collectively responsible for the evolution of the enterprise, in order
to meet new challenges. These responsibilities can only be borne if members
have an appropriate knowledge and an effective awareness of the construction of
the enterprise.
Focus and Goal
--------------
The Enterprise Engineering Working Conference 2012 is the second working
conference in the emerging field of Enterprise Engineering. The goal of the
conference is to gather academics and practitioners in order to share
innovative research issues and practical experiences, and to facilitate
profound discussions about the challenges mentioned above. It is the mission of
the discipline of Enterprise Engineering to develop new, appropriate theories,
models, methods and other artifacts for the analysis, design, implementation,
and governance of enterprises by combining (relevant parts of) management and
organization science, information systems science, and computer science. The
ambition is to address traditional topics in said disciplines from the
Enterprise Engineering Paradigm
(www.ciaonetwork.org/publications/EEManifesto.pdf). The result of the efforts
should be theoretically rigorous and practically relevant.
Topics of interest to this working conference include, but are not limited to:
* Enterprise Ontology
* Enterprise Architecture
* Enterprise Governance
* Enterprise modeling and simulation
* Domain ontologies
* Modeling (cross-enterprise) business processes
* Reference models for (cross-enterprise) business processes
* Business Process Management
* Business Rules Management
* Information systems design
* Information system architectures
* Component based system design
* Service Oriented Design
* Business process modeling and simulation
* Participatory systems
Organization
------------
The Enterprise Engineering Working Conference 2012 follows the successful 1st
EEWC in 2011, and the preceding series of workshops (CIAO!'10, CIAO!'09,
CIAO!'08, MIOS-CIAO'06, MIOS-INTEROP'05, MIOS'04) held at the DESRIST, CAiSE
and OTM Federated conferences.
We are looking for articles on current or recently finished research projects
as well as articles from practitioners. Based on our motivating experience of
the previous workshops and working conference, the Enterprise Engineering
Working Conference 2012 is planned to be a real working conference, providing
ample time for profound discussions following short presentations.

CALL FOR PAPERS
---------------------------------------------------------------------
International Workshop on Semantic Technologies for Information-Integrated Collaboration (STIIC 2012) http://cisedu.us/rp/cts12/2-conference/workshops/workshop-04-stiic
As part of The 2012 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS 2012) http://cisedu.us/rp/cts12
May 21 - 25, 2012
The Westin Westminster Hotel
Denver, Colorado, USA
Submission Deadline: January 16, 2012
SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES
Information-integrated collaboration networks have become an important part of today’s complex enterprise systems – this becomes obvious if we consider, as a prominent example, the high dynamics of network-centric systems, which need to react to changes at the level of their information and communication space by providing flexible mechanisms to manage a wide variety of information resources, heterogeneous, decentralized, and constantly evolving. Semantic technologies promise to deliver innovative and effective solutions to this problem, facilitating the realization of information integration mechanisms that allow collaboration systems to provide the added value they are expected to.
Two fundamental problems are inherent to the design of integrated collaboration solutions: (i) semantic inaccessibility, caused by the failure to explicitly specify the semantic content of the information contained within the subsystems that must share information in order to collaborate effectively; and (ii) logical disconnectedness: caused by the failure to explicitly represent constraints between the information managed by the different collaborating subsystems.
Mainstream EAI technologies deal with information and information management tasks at the syntactic level. Data protocols and standards that are used to facilitate seamless information exchange and ‘plug and play’ interoperability do not take into account the meaning of the underlying information and the view of the individual stakeholders on the information exchanged. What is lacking are mechanisms that have the ability to capture, store, and manage the meaning of the data and artifacts that need to be shared for collaborative problem solving, decision support, planning, and execution.
Semantic information sharing and integration technologies will provide an important collaboration enabling mechanism for the emerging net-centric systems and the information grid. Further, it is likely that advances in this area will support multiple modes of collaboration with disparate and cross-cutting technologies. This workshop, held as part of CTS 2012, will bring together researchers and experts interested in bridging the gaps between the different technologies, and between technologies and applications. We invite original contributions on the technology practice and user experience for these emerging and important areas from researchers in academia, industry, and research institutions.
The workshop topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Ontology-based Methods for Information Integration
• Semantics-based Integration and Interoperability
• Semantic Workflow Orchestration
• Semantic Mediation Methods
• Semantic Discovery and Matchmaking Services
• Collaborative Knowledge Engineering and Management
• Using Semantic Wikis for Collaborative Applications
• Semantic Searching
• Semantics for Mobility
• Ontologies
• Semantic Technologies and Languages
• Agile Development of Semantic Applications
• Semantically-enabled Integration Solutions for the Sensor Web, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Emergency Management, Energy Management, e-Commerce, Finance, Marketing, and Advertising

Subject: [AISWorld] CFP: AMCIS 2012 - Minitrack on Negative
Cognitions About IS

CALL FOR PAPERS
AMCIS 2012
Seattle, Washington
August 9-12, 2012
Track: HCI Studies in Information Systems (SIGHCI)
Mini-track: Negative Cognitions About Information Systems
There is an increasingly persistent dichotomy in the way that emerging Information Systems (IS)-enabled patterns for work and collaboration are affecting IS users. On the one hand, they enable vast improvements in processes and decisions. On the other, they lead to negative cognitions and outcomes such as stress, frustrations and information overload. There has been a recent surge of interest in negative cognitions associated with using IS related, for example, to technostress, intrusiveness and deceptiveness, credibility and deception, addiction to technology use, and distrust. These studies explore various facets of detrimental conditions that users of IS experience-conditions that, given the ubiquity of IS use, are potentially pervasive.
The objective of this mini-track is to develop theoretical insight and understanding on HCI topics and issues that address this "troubling" side of IS. Submissions addressing all aspects of this topic are welcome. We welcome conceptual, theoretical or empirical research papers. We particularly welcome papers that apply theories and perspectives from different disciplines (e.g., theories of stress from psychology, information overload and interruption from information science, and work-life balance from industrial management) to examine various aspects of this phenomenon.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
1. Implications for design of systems and interfaces regarding: conceptualizations of troubling or negative interactions between IS and users, such as interruptions, information overload, constant connectivity to work-related information processing, addiction to IS use, and difficulties in learning how to use constantly changing technologies and applications.
2. Implications for design of systems and interfaces regarding: outcomes from the above interactions such as stress, difficulty in concentrating, multitasking, user dissatisfaction, effects on productivity and performance, disruption of work-life balance, over-dependence on IS.
3. Any other HCI topics related to negative affective responses and the cause and effect relationships between cues embedded in system designs and/or methods that can mitigate or exacerbate those negative responses.

in
International Journal of Distance Education Technologies (EI Journal)
(http://www.igi-global.com/Bookstore/TitleDetails.aspx?TitleId=1078&DetailsT…)
Many intelligent tutoring systems have been developed and used to
support students' learning. Good online learning systems require
emotional communications happened in-between the tutors and
the learners. Emotions play an important role when users engage
in career or drama training, or language learning situations via role-play.
Interpreting player experience and affect from open-ended verbal
communication and diverse body language has been challenging
research tasks. It further promotes the importance of such studies
when employing diverse game-play modalities (e.g. mobile interfaces
and augmented reality platforms) and when recognizing affect and
mood from metaphorical affective expressions, dialogue context,
emotionally ambiguous or non-prototypical spoken utterances,
facial expressions and gestures. Such research is significantly beneficial
to the development of intelligent virtual agents which are capable of
interpreting social relationships, context, general mood and emotion,
sensing or reasonably predicating others' inter-conversion, identifying
its role and participating intelligently in open-ended interaction.
How to develop a system which can identify user's emotion and/or
present its feelings to the user according to user's words, behaviors,
and performance in online learning is definitely an important, a very
helpful as well an interesting research topic. The purpose of this
special issue is to explore how models, theories, and solutions of
emotion intelligence can be used in online learning and what benefits
users can receive from such emotion intelligence-embedded systems
and agents.
Guest Editors (in alphabet order):
Dr. Maiga Chang, Dr. Rita Kuo and Dr. Li Zhang
Suggested topics:
We cordially invite authors to submit high quality manuscripts for
any application domain as long as the core of the manuscript belongs to:
- Affect sensing from text, speech, facial expression and gestures
- Affect inspired interactive intelligent games (e.g., mobile
interfaces, augmented reality platforms, natural user interfaces -
non touch based user interfaces)
- Emotion modelling and generation
- Human computer interaction issues and challenges that affective
computing/emotional intelligence solutions for online learning
may have
- Emotional tutoring agents/learning companions/interactive robots
- Affective computing tools, systems and applications for online learning
- Emotional intelligent agents for assisting teaching or learning
- Multi-agent based affective computing systems and applications
- Practical experiences in using& deploying emotional intelligence
for online learning
- Successful cases of applying emotional intelligence to online learning

in
The International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning (SSCI Journal)
(http://www.irrodl.org/n)
Online learning has been developed for over decades and has become
an important tool for education. Many tutors design web-based
teaching materials and share them in the learning management systems.
Learners develop knowledge from those materials, tutor supports, and
the collaborations with other learners in distance in the online learning
environment and platforms. While information technology changes rapidly
and the variety of online learning activities increase, especially with the aid of social network and Web 2.0 tools that are
available to instruction designers, we may need to consider how to provide learners personalized pedagogical service which can help
them learn more efficiently. In order to have such personalized

Subject: [AISWorld] CFP: AMCIS 2012 Minitrack – Ethics in
Information Systems

Track: Philosophical Perspectives in IS (SIGPhilosophy)
Mini-track: Ethics in Information Systems
For research and professional practice in the field of Information
Systems, ethics maintains a broad range of concerns that impact the work
of professionals, academics and researchers, and the work and lives of
those who are dependent upon the successful and appropriate deployment
of information systems (for example, Chatterjee, Sarker& Fuller, 2009;
Mingers and Walsham, 2010). Recent world events reported in the media
highlight the need for a constant review of ethics, both in application
and theory, through sociopolitical and sociotechnical lenses.
The use and application of computing technologies typically derives
positive and negative influences for humanity. Accounts exist of the
negative impacts of unforeseen events, the misuse of technologies, or
the corruption of otherwise well-intentioned technologies, as well as
being part of a wider negative impact on the environment. It is when
such events occur that the role that practitioners and researcher play
is brought into question. Typically, ethics in computing and information
technology has concentrated on certain specific areas such as whether
ethics in computing is a unique field, how ethics is treated
pedagogically, issues of logic versus moral responsibility, matching
computer use against human values, the ethics of professionals and
practitioners, and so on. However, some of the debates regarding ethics
have been renewed in light of recent advances in technology and the uses
to which technology is applied.
Moor (1985, p. 266) says: “A typical problem in computer ethics
arises because there is a policy vacuum about how computer technology
should be used. Computers provide us with new capabilities and these in
turn give us new choices for action. Often, either no policies for
conduct in these situations exist or existing policies seem inadequate.
A central task of computer ethics is to determine what we should do in
such cases, that is, formulate policies to guide our actions.”
This mini-track provides a forum for the expression of debates and
arguments surrounding these and other issues. Authors can present cases
that have arisen out of present and past researches, and events that
clarify ethical dimensions. Papers should be of a standard where
specific issues are identified and questions or solutions presented.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
● Applications of classical ethical theory
● Computer crime
● Ethics in research
● Ethics issues and arguments on IS related phenomena that include
security, knowledge management, strategy, information systems
development, collaboration, plus others.
● Ethics issues and arguments that face IS researchers and
academics in the preparation and execution of their practice.
● Ethics of information use and misuse, especially in an
increasingly networked world
● Ethics of professionals and practitioners
● Globalization of computerization and its effect on society
● Intellectual property issues
● Logic versus moral responsibility
● Matching computer use against human values
● Pedagogical issues in ethics education
● Privacy and anonymity issues
● The encroachment of information technologies into the lives of
people
● The ethics of distance learning in advanced education
● The impacts of social networking on the work place
● The use and misuse of computers in the workplace

Minitrack: Diffusion of IS Innovations in Social Networks
Track: Adoption and Diffusion of Information Technology
(SIGADIT <http://www.sigadit.org/>)
August 9-12, 2012, Seattle, Washington
CALL FOR PAPERS
The diffusion of information systems (IS) innovations can be
visualized as a process of communication by which members of
a social system may become aware of IS innovations over
time. The social system may comprise individuals or
organizations, deal with formal or informal connections,
exist for hedonic or instrumental purposes, structured as
aristocratic or egalitarian networks, and based on strong or
weak ties among members. Communication mechanisms and
patterns within such social systems can vary considerably
and can significantly affect the diffusion process over
time. We solicit theoretical expositions and empirical
investigations that deal with the diffusion of IS innovations.
Topics relevant for this mini-track include, but are not
limited to, the following:
- Types of communication channels for diffusion of IS
innovations
- Relationship between network characteristics (e.g.,
network centrality) and diffusion
- Speed of diffusion of IS innovations within networks
- Effects of organizational (or network level) mechanisms on
diffusion
- Political moves underlying diffusion of IS innovations
- Positive and negative communication regarding IS
innovations and diffusion
- Patterns of diffusion (e.g., S-shaped curve) within social
networks
- Modeling diffusion within social networks
