CALL FOR PAPERS-AMCIS 2012
Seattle, Washington
August 9-12, 2012
Track: E-Business and E-Commerce (SIGeBiz)
Mini-track: Information Technology (IT)-enabled Supply Chain Management: Co-Creating and Capturing Business Value from IT
The preoccupation with supply chain management (SCM) has been present over the last few decades. Numerous studies have pointed to the need to increase the level of integration of inter- and intra-organizational processes and information systems in order to achieve a greater level of seamlessness and reduce duplication efforts and corresponding inefficiencies. The advent of new concepts (e.g., social media, Web 2.0, green supply chain) and technologies (e.g., Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Bluetooth, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) II) should accelerate this trend. For example, the combination of intelligent products and intelligent services enabled by RFID with the existing ICTs in supply chains should play a facilitating role – thus allowing greater visibility of products and services to supply chain members –, and in parallel offer more opportunities for quick and efficient supply chain activities. Supply chain members should therefore face greater strain as they will be expected to manage not only their own activities in relation to those products and services, but also the integration of upstream and downstream core business processes and inter- and intra-organizational information systems. In this context, collaboration between the supply chain stakeholders to co-create and capture value from ITs for their economic growth sustainability becomes not only a prerequisite, but also a major challenge. This mini-track aims to look at how to co-create and capture business value from new concepts (e.g., social media, Web 2.0, green supply chain) and technologies (e.g., RFID technology, Bluetooth, ERPII) both at the firm and supply chain levels.
Suggested topics, but are not limited to:
• Business process modeling& simulation, business process redesign from new concepts (e.g., social media, Web 2.0, green supply chain) and technologies (e.g., RFID , Bluetooth, ERPII) at the firm and supply chain levels
• Case studies on the implementation of new concepts (e.g., social media, Web 2.0, green supply chain) and technologies (e.g., RFID technology, Bluetooth, ERPII) for business value co-creation at the firm and supply chain levels
• Enabling innovative electronic business models using new concepts (e.g., social media, Web 2.0, green supply chain) and technologies (e.g., RFID technology, Bluetooth, ERPII) in various sectors (e.g., healthcare, retail, manufacturing)
• IT-enabled business analytics at the firm and supply chain levels
• Modeling and simulation of financial, managerial, leadership, and human resources required for projects of new concepts (e.g., social media, Web 2.0, green supply chain) and technologies (e.g., RFID technology, Bluetooth, ERPII)
• Modeling and simulation of the business value of new concepts (e.g., social media, Web 2.0) and technologies (e.g., RFID technology, Bluetooth, ERPII) on quality management
• Modeling and simulation of the costs and risks associated with the deployment of new concepts (e.g., social media, Web 2.0, green supply chain) and technologies (e.g., RFID technology, Bluetooth, ERPII) at firm and supply chain levels

Subject: [AISWorld] EJIS CFP - Special Issue on Mobile IS
and Mobility
Date: Wed, 30 Nov 2011 06:48:40 -0500
From: Catherine Middleton <lists(a)catherinemiddleton.ca>
Reply-To: Catherine Middleton <catherine.middleton(a)ryerson.ca>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org
Reminder
Call for Papers: European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS)
http://www.palgrave-journals.com/ejis/index.html
PDF version of this CFP: http://www.palgrave-journals.com/ejis/EJIS_CFP_MISM.pdf
Special Issue on Mobile Information Systems and Mobility
In 2006, an EJIS special issue on mobile user behaviour published seven papers that explored
the ways in which “increased mobility of the users violates some of the assumptions traditionally
associated with the use of IS” (van der Heijden& Junglas, 2006, p. 249). In the five years since
that special issue was published, mobile devices have become much more powerful, and users
have become more demanding of mobile access to information systems. Many individuals now
carry powerful computing devices with them at all times, blurring the boundaries between
personal and organizational systems and uses. Individuals are becoming “experiential”
computing users, with personal computing devices embedded in their everyday activities.
The increased power and prevalence of mobile devices presents an opportunity, if not an
obligation, for information systems researchers to revisit fundamental assumptions embedded in
our theories. What changes when we assume that mobile access is a key component of
information systems and that mobility is a key expectation of users? Should IS theories that
were developed to investigate the deployment of fixed systems in bounded environments
controlled by organizations be revisited in the context of mobility?
We invite theoretical and empirical papers that explore the meanings and implications of
mobility for information systems research and researchers. We encourage broad definitions of
mobility and information systems, in recognition that mobility can dissolve organizational
boundaries, reshape information systems, and change the nature of use and users. Potential
topics include, but are not limited to:
• Design of mobile information systems environments
• Management challenges in a mobile information systems environment
• Mobile content and services development, the rise of the mobile ‘app’ and cloud computing
• Perspectives on the “always on, always connected” mobile society, the mobile device as instrument of societal change
• Understanding the mobile content consumer, opportunities and threats for content providers
• Theorising the mobile ICT artefact
• New affordances of mobility
• Understanding the materiality of mobility, exploring the mobile artifact
• New actors in a mobile information systems environment, including machine to machine interaction
• Mobility in the workforce, including overlapping contexts of mobile technology use (work, leisure, social), the business value of mobility, and mobility considerations in ICT strategy
• The role of digital infrastructures in enabling mobility
Guest Editors for the Special Issue
Catherine Middleton, Ryerson University (catherine.middleton(a)ryerson.ca)
Rens Scheepers, Deakin University (rens.scheepers(a)deakin.edu.au)
Virpi Kristiina Tuunainen, Aalto University (virpi.tuunainen(a)aalto.fi)
Submission Guidelines and Important Dates
Papers may be submitted to the special issue any time before December 31, 2011.
Follow the EJIS formatting guidelines at http://ejis.msubmit.net/cgibin/main.plex?form_type=display_auth_instructions

Call for Papers -- NEW DATES!
3rd International Workshop on Business IntelligencE and the
WEB (BEWEB 2012)
http://gplsi.dlsi.ua.es/congresos/beweb12
March 30th, 2012
In conjunction with EDBT/ICDT 2012 Joint Conference, Berlin,
Germany
http://edbticdt2012.dima.tu-berlin.de/
Introduction
------------
Over the last decade we have been witnessing an increasing
use of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, which allow
business people to query, understand, and analyze their
business data in order to make better decisions.
Traditionally, BI applications allowed business people to
acquire useful knowledge from the data of their organization
by means of a variety of technologies, such as data
warehousing, data mining, business performance management,
OLAP, periodical business reports, and the like.
Yet, in the very recent years, a new trend emerged: BI
applications no longer limit their analysis to the data
inside one company. Increasingly, they also source their
data from the outside, i.e., from the Web, and complement
company-internal data with value-adding information from the
Web (e.g., retail prices of products sold by competitors),
in order to provide richer insights into the dynamics of
today's business.
In parallel to the move of data from the Web into BI
applications, we are now assisting to the move of BI
applications from company-internal information systems to
the Web: BI as a service (e.g., hosted BI platforms for
small- and medium-size companies) is the target of huge
investments and the focus of large research efforts by
industry. The idea is that of outsourcing the processing and
analysis of large bodies of data and consuming BI from the
cloud.
The Third International Workshop on Business intelligenCE
and the WEB (BEWEB) intends to be a forum for exchanging
ideas on (i) how to leverage the huge amount of data that is
available on the Web in BI applications, (ii) how to apply
Web engineering methods and techniques to the design of BI
applications, and (iii) how to use BI knowledge in the
design of Web applications.
Topics of interest
-------------------
Papers focused on new domains and new experiences with the
connection between BI and the Web are highly encouraged. The
workshop will be a forum for researchers, designers, and
users who are related to the combination of these main topics.
The scope of the workshop includes but is not limited to:
- Web warehousing
- Extraction, transformation, and load of Web data
- Web integration
- Web data quality
- Semantic Web technologies
- Web mining
- Web intelligence
- The role of Web 2.0/3.0 in BI
- BI with unstructured data (e.g., text) and semi-structured
data (e.g., XML)
- BI for designing adaptive websites
- Web engineering techniques for BI applications (Web
mashups, RIA, etc.)
- BI as a service
- Cloud intelligence: cloud computing & business intelligence
Submission Guidelines
---------------------
Paper submission will be electronic via the EasyChair system
at http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=beweb2012. The
length of submitted papers should not exceed 8 pages in ACM
double-column format (see guidelines at
http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates).
Papers not conforming to these requirements may be rejected
without further consideration.
The publication of BEWEB workshop papers will be handled
together with publications of the main conference.Best
selected papers of BEWEB 2012 will be invited to submit an
extended version in a special collection of the Journal of
Research and Practice in Information Technology journal
(listed in JCR).

Subject: [AISWorld] CFP: AMCIS 2012 - Minitrack on Negative
Cognitions About IS

From: Lockwood, Nick <LockwoodN(a)mst.edu>

CALL FOR PAPERS
AMCIS 2012
Seattle, Washington
August 9-12, 2012
Track: HCI Studies in Information Systems (SIGHCI)
Mini-track: Negative Cognitions About Information Systems
There is an increasingly persistent dichotomy in the way that emerging Information Systems (IS)-enabled patterns for work and collaboration are affecting IS users. On the one hand, they enable vast improvements in processes and decisions. On the other, they lead to negative cognitions and outcomes such as stress, frustrations and information overload. There has been a recent surge of interest in negative cognitions associated with using IS related, for example, to technostress, intrusiveness and deceptiveness, credibility and deception, addiction to technology use, and distrust. These studies explore various facets of detrimental conditions that users of IS experience-conditions that, given the ubiquity of IS use, are potentially pervasive.
The objective of this mini-track is to develop theoretical insight and understanding on HCI topics and issues that address this "troubling" side of IS. Submissions addressing all aspects of this topic are welcome. We welcome conceptual, theoretical or empirical research papers. We particularly welcome papers that apply theories and perspectives from different disciplines (e.g., theories of stress from psychology, information overload and interruption from information science, and work-life balance from industrial management) to examine various aspects of this phenomenon.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
1. Implications for design of systems and interfaces regarding: conceptualizations of troubling or negative interactions between IS and users, such as interruptions, information overload, constant connectivity to work-related information processing, addiction to IS use, and difficulties in learning how to use constantly changing technologies and applications.
2. Implications for design of systems and interfaces regarding: outcomes from the above interactions such as stress, difficulty in concentrating, multitasking, user dissatisfaction, effects on productivity and performance, disruption of work-life balance, over-dependence on IS.
3. Any other HCI topics related to negative affective responses and the cause and effect relationships between cues embedded in system designs and/or methods that can mitigate or exacerbate those negative responses.
IMPORTANT DATES:
February 17, 2012 - Deadline for paper submissions
March 24, 2012 - Notification of acceptance
April 21, 2012 - Final copy due

The 11th ICMB Conference on adoption, use and effect of
Mobile Systems and
Applications will take place in Delft, The Netehrlands June
21 and 22
*Mobile Business in Everyday life: users’ routines versus
provider’s turbulence*
Like ecommerce, mobile applications are becoming part of
daily routines for consumers. Given the ease of use of smart
phones and increasing mobile data network capacity,
acceptance of mobile applications is increasing fast. Users
switch to smart phones to deal with tasks they perform based
on day-to-day routines, both in private life as well as in
business environments. Academic research is shifting from
acceptance and adoption issues to research questions that
focus on usage patterns, preferences, substitution and
displacement behavior and what the impact of Mobile Internet
is going to be on daily routines.
What are the first and second order effects? Improved
communication and information provisioning might be evident,
but what about integration with other applications? Are
mobile services going to be integrated with smart home
systems? Is mobile going to be part of the larger ecosystem
of ‘smart cities’ and the Internet of Things? And what does
this mean for human behavior? Are mobile phones and tablets
becoming the preferred way to deal with business routines,
accessing ERP-systems, filling out expense forms, managing
customer relations? How will mobile services be implemented
in education systems? Are electronic books going to capture
a part of the market? Is mobile TV changing to social mobile
TV: sharing files across devices, making use of buddy
lists? It will be clear that not only domains such as
media, entertainment and communications will be affected,
but that mobile and sensor-based applications are going to
have an impact on many other domains as well: banking,
logistics, energy, health care, independent living.
Any potentially stabilizing acceptance patterns in the user
market are in sharp contrast with the turbulence that the
mobile industry is going through due to the convergence of
the content, application, Internet and the telecommunication
industry. The provider eco-system around mobile Internet is
now facing profound changes in business models and technical
architectures. The emergence of various types of software
platforms and end-to-end architectures in mobile systems is
increasing the pressure on the dominant technological and
business set-up of the mobile industry, to the point of a
reconfiguration of the entire mobile system. Will new
platforms for converged communication services or novel ad
hoc paradigms offer an alternative for telecom operators to
sustain their control over the mobile communication market?
Can they co-exist or will Internet and IT firms make
significant inroads into the telecommunications market? Are
applications providers and app stores able to capture a
major share of all service revenues? How celar is the
distinction between infrastructure, platform and service?
Are device manufacturers coming up with new mobile cloud
based technologies that even could make it possible to avoid
the distribution channels controlled by Webco’s like Apple
and Android? Are businesses and governments able to
integrate mobile applications in their service offerings to
users? How are specific ‘vertical’ service offerings and
industries changing because of these dynamics? What are
policy and regulatory priorities for well-functioning mobile
markets?
