The International Conference on Ambient Systems, Networks and Technologies (ANT-2010) is a leading international conference which provides an international forum for researchers, developers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government to address research challenges and to present and discuss research ideas, developments and experiences related to the ambient systems infrastructure, models, and technologies.
The general aim of ambient systems is to provide an environment wherein computing devices exist anywhere and everywhere. In such systems mobile and embedded computing devices form ad hoc collaboration using different communication networks (e.g., wireless networks, RFID, etc) in order to share and exchange information and provide services. Ambient systems pose new research challenges due to the open and unreliable nature of the environment and the complexity and heterogeneity of the computing devices and the underlying communication networks. These characteristics challenge traditional techniques and demand new ways of approaching the problems related to the ambient systems.

RULE 2010
Call For Papers
ELEVENTH INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON
RULE-BASED SPECIFICATION AND PROGRAMMING
RULE-BASED PROGRAMMING IN INDUSTRY AND THE SEMANTIC WEB
Edinburgh, UK
July 14, 2010
IMPORTANT DATES:
Submission deadline: Friday, April 16, 2010
PC meeting: Monday-Friday, May 24-28, 2010
Authors notified: Thursday, June 3, 2010
Final copies due: Friday, June 25, 2010
RULE 2010 Workshop: Wednesday, July 14, 2010,
This CFP' URL:
http://www.di.uminho.pt/rule2010
(Workshop affiliated to FLoC 2010 as post-conference event of RTA 2010)
With the renewed interest in rule-based computing for industrial
applications (e.g., Business Rules) especially as it relates to the
Semantic Web ( e.g., the W3C's Rule Interchange Format), it is timely
to explore the practical benefits delivered by computing with rules and
ontologies in the large. Thus, this year's theme will focus on rule-based
programming in Industry and the Semantic Web. The emphasis will be on
implemented systems that have been actually used in pragmatic situations
where the advantages of rule-driven computation and inference have made
all the difference, such advantages being:
* agility
* declarativeness
* maintainability
* documentability
* scalability
* meta-programmability
* reliability
* formal semantics
* etc., ...
In terms of the Semantic Web, we explicitly call for submissions that
probe (in a pragmatic setting) how rule-based approaches complement
ontology-based approaches, which share some of the characteristics of
rule systems, such as declarativeness and formal semantics.
PAPER SUBMISSION
We are solliciting papers dealing with topics related to this year's
theme discussing any or several of the itemized facets of the
combinations of rules and ontologies, going beyond academic experiments
and meant for large-scale or industrial applications. Papers should
contain no more than 10 pages, including figures, and submitted through
EasyChair using the standard EPTCS LaTeX style file.
PROGRAM COMMITTEE
* Hassan Ait-Kaci, IBM, Canada (co-chair)
* Maria Alpuente, Universidad de Valencia, Spain

Betreff: [WI] AI Space Odyssey - Special Issue of IEEE Intelligent Systems

CALL FOR PAPERS
AI Space Odyssey, Special Issue of IEEE Intelligent Systems
Submissions due for review: 19 February 2010
Publication date: September/October 2010
http://www.computer.org/portal/web/computingnow/iscfp5
==============================================================
IEEE Intelligent Systems seeks original papers describing research on AI in
Space. This topic has been the focus of earlier special issues, but this call
is interested in a glimpse of the future from our standpoint in 2010, and hence
the theme AI Space Odyssey.
In anticipation of long-duration space exploration missions to the Moon and
Mars, likely by many nations, we are looking for papers describing how AI has
made missions possible and will help make missions a success. Whereas in the
1980s and 1990s, researchers saw AI as a panacea for intelligent autonomous
systems, the AI technology used today in space applications is often regarded
differently. The editors of this special issue solicit papers that describe new
and novel use of AI technology for space applications.
Papers may cover a variety of topics, listed here in no particular order:
* semantics, ontologies, and knowledge representation;
* pattern recognition and scientific discovery;
* Intelligent System-Health Management (ISHM);
* teleoperation and telerobotics;
* planning, scheduling, constraint satisfaction;
* adjustable autonomy;
* agent-based and multiagent systems;
* machine learning;
* procedure-execution monitoring and aiding;
* natural language processing and dialogue systems;
* decision support; and
* history of AI applications in astronautics and space exploration.
In addition, the special issue will consider original papers on innovative,
knowledge-based approaches to complex implementation challenges such as
* AI-driven simulations, virtual reality, virtual worlds and games for
engineering, operations, management, training, and so on;
* software engineering, development, and verification and validation
approaches for high-reliability autonomy;
* innovative approaches to security issues in autonomous software
systems;
* software life-cycle issues with respect to very long-duration (10+
year) missions;
* decision and workflow support systems for planetary exploration and
extra-vehicular activities;
* AI-driven robotics and approaches for human-robot teamwork;
* Smart sensor systems for situational awareness; and
* ubiquitous computing environments.
Submission Guidelines
Papers should situate the work within the field of AI, cite related work, and
indicate the innovative aspects of the work and its direct contribution to the
special challenges of space missions. We will not accept any paper that, at the
time of submission, is under review for or has already been published or
accepted for publication in a journal or another conference. All papers will
undergo peer and editorial review. Submissions should present original reports
of substantive new work and should be 3,500 to 7,500 words (counting a standard
figure or table as 200 words) and should follow the magazines style and
presentation guidelines (see www.computer.org/intelligent/author.htm).
References should be limited to 10 citations. To submit a manuscript, access
the IEEE Computer Society Web-based system, Manuscript Central, at
https://mc.manuscriptcentral/cs-ieee.

Call for Papers
EMISA 2010 ? Entwicklungsmethoden
für Informationssysteme und deren Anwendung
Karlsruhe, FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik, 7. ? 8. Oktober 2010
http://www.emisa2010.kit.edu/
================================================================================
Seit nunmehr drei Jahrzehnten befasst sich die GI-Fachgruppe EMISA mit
Entwicklungsmethoden für Informationssysteme und deren Anwendung im
Rahmen des gesamten Lebenszyklus von Informationssystemen. Betriebliche
Informationssysteme dienen in erster Linie der informationstechnischen
Unterstützung von Geschäftsprozessen in Organisationen. Im Rahmen der
Entwicklung solcher Informationssysteme leiten sich
Integrationsanforderungen aus prozess-, funktions- und
datenorientierten Aspekten der zu unterstützenden Geschäftsprozesse ab
und betreffen alle Architekturebenen eines Informationssystems,
inklusive deren organisatorische Einbettung. Um möglichst flexibel auf
derartige Anforderungen
integrierter Informationssysteme.
Erwünscht werden Beiträge zu folgenden Themen:
* Anforderungsmanagement
* Modellierung
* Geschäftsprozessmanagement
* Integration
