=======================
Over the last two decades, research in data and information quality
(DIQ) has advanced significantly. Many frameworks, measurement
approaches and theoretical concepts have been developed and proposed. At
the same time, industry and researchers have provided us with many case
studies and best practice. DIQ has been included as topic in many
conferences; however, in order to reflect the foremost achievements in
DIQ research, the research community needs to revisit and discuss not
only the relevance but also the rigor in DIQ research.
With this track, we aim to provide a platform for reflecting and
validating current contributions in the domain and to discuss research
approaches, research methods and research results of DIQ research. We
particularly encourage submissions that focus on (re)validating current
and prominent frameworks, approaches or concepts. With the focus of this
Minitrack, the topic should aim to discuss research aspects of DIQ.
Papers can include and discuss various research methods and research
based on case studies, quantitative methods such as experimental and
simulation but also empirical research to examine the existing models,
methods, approaches and frameworks.
Topics of interest
==================
Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following list:
* Validations of DIQ research
* Revalidation of previous DIQ research and frameworks

CALL FOR PAPERS
"Social philosophy, ethics and information technology”
Minitrack at 16th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2010) August 12-15 2010, Lima, Peru, http://www.amcis2010.org/
This minitrack is part of the "Philosophical Perspectives in IS" track.
****************************************************
Description:
The intensive use of IS/IT all over the world and the extensive growth of the internet within the last decade has changed the life of the vast majority of the worlds population. The advantages of these new technologies have improved our lives significantly but despite of all these improvements disadvantages and dangers of the new information and communication technologies (ICTs) have risen. Therefore we want to look at these developments from a Social Philosophy perspective. Social Philosophy attempts to understand and explain the developments, changes, patterns, and tendencies of societies. As it is a wide field with many sub disciplines we want to draw special attention on ethics in conjunction with the use, application, and development of ICTs. Additionally we encourage submissions dealing with other aspects of social philosophy, e.g. applying thoughts of Weber, Durkheim, Adorno, Habermas, Beauvoir, Chomsky and other social theorists in the IS field.
ICTs have had major effects on society, economy, and businesses not only in the fields of management, organization and leadership. The areas of moral and ethics have been severely influenced too. Observing the recent development of ICTs and the growing capability of storing huge amounts of personal data and business related data online has created new moral problems and has increased the risk of negative consequences of unethical use of information technology. Due to the enormous growth of internet usage and the increasing reliance of private persons and business on information systems in all aspects of social and economic life, the ethical and moral aspects of what is done with or to and what could be theoretically done with or to the available information becomes a major concern of society.
The purpose of this Mini Track is to provide a forum for discussing ethical, philosophical, and social issues associated with the development and application of Information Systems and Communication Technology. We invite work-in-progress or completed research. Papers using theoretical approaches as well as empirical research (qualitative and quantitative) and case studies are welcome.
The topics of this Mini Track include but are not limited to:
•Contribution of Social Philosophy to the explanation of technology induced social and economic changes
•Can “old” theories explain the new social patterns, developments, and tendencies of the 21st century?
•Do the new technologies have any effects on gender issues?
•Do the new technologies facilitate (positive and/or negative) discrimination of deprived groups in societies?
•Internet crime and computer crime in general
•Privacy issues
•Ethical and social aspects of the IT induced changes in employer-employee relationships (e.g. tension between an employee’s right to privacy and an employer’s need for information to run the business)
•Ethical and social aspects of ownership of knowledge and information
•Ethical and social aspects of intellectual property rights
•Ethical and social aspects of pricing of information, knowledge and digital goods (Are information and knowledge public goods?)
•Ethics for IS/IT and Internet professionals
•Ethics for IS/IT and Internet users
•Can Social Philosophy serve as (meta)theoretical basis of IS design and software development?
•Can Social Philosophy explain the standing of Information Systems as an academic discipline within the academic community and the society in general?
•Analyzing Information Systems as an academic discipline from the perspective of Social Philosophy
Papers will be peer-reviewed using a double-blind system and will be considered for Best Paper Awards.

---------------------------
I. Workshop Theme and Goals
---------------------------
Since the advent of business process reengineering in the 1990s,
modeling and optimization of business processes has become a critical
factor in business as well as in non-profit and government
organizations. Today, with many forms of interorganizational cooperation
in the form of e-business, outsourcing, and other kinds of value webs,
business process management and coordination process management are
crucial for the survival of organizations. As a result, information
systems are required to manipulate not only data but also processes.
Process-oriented information systems (POIS) are systems that can provide
data support as well as process support to organizations. Examples are
workflow management systems, ERP systems, and systems for
cross-organizational coordination management.
Some of the challenges facing POIS include requirements management,
performance monitoring, service level agreements and governance. The 1st
International Workshop on Empirical Research in Process-Oriented
Information Systems (ER-POIS 2010) aims to provide a platform for
exchanging empirical research results about POIS problems and solutions.
The workshop takes an empirical perspective, which means that we will
not solicit papers that propose solutions, new techniques or methods,
but solicit papers with empirical research results about existing
problems or implemented solutions, or about empirical validations of
proposed solutions. We assume the solutions have been specified
elsewhere, possibly in earlier papers.
We encourage the use of any research method, ranging from experimental
research to surveys, case studies and action research, provided that a
discussion of the validity of the method and of the results obtained
with the method is included in the paper.
-------------------
II. Workshop Format
-------------------
The workshop will comprise presentations of accepted papers and tool
reports. Submitted papers will be reviewed by at least three members of
the program committee, and will be evaluated on the basis of
significance, originality, technical quality, and exposition. Papers
should clearly establish their research contribution and shall
particularly address the relation to transferring methods and
technologies into practice.
Accepted papers will appear in the joint CAiSE workshop proceedings
which will be distributed in the electronic library CEUR
http://ceur-ws.org (and on USB sticks at CAiSE). The proceedings will
have an ISSN number and will be accessible for everyone on the CEUR
website. The authors will keep the copyright of their papers. At least
one author for each accepted paper must register for the workshop and
present the paper.
-----------------------
III. Submitting a Paper
-----------------------
Prospective authors are invited to submit papers for presentation in any
of the areas listed in the Topics section. Only papers in English will
be accepted. Different paper types are distinguished. Length of full
papers must not exceed 12 pages (there is no possibility to buy
additional pages). Position papers and tool reports should be no longer
than 6 pages. Papers should be submitted in the Springer LNCS format.
Papers have to present original research contributions not concurrently
submitted elsewhere. The title page must contain a short abstract, a
classification of the topics covered, preferably using the list of
topics above, and an indication of the submission category (full paper |
position paper | tool report).
Papers should be submitted in PDF format electronically via the EasyChair:
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=erpois2010

http://www.iwomp.org
Hosted by Center for Computational Sciences, University of Tsukuba
IMPORTANT DATES
Submission deadline: January 22, 2010
Notification of paper acceptance: March 8, 2010
The International Workshop on OpenMP is an annual series of workshops
dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects focusing on
parallel programming with OpenMP. OpenMP is now a major programming
model for shared memory systems from multi-core machines to large
scale servers. Recently, new ideas and challenges are proposed to
extend OpenMP framework for adopting accelerators and also exploiting
parallelism beyond loop levels. The workshop serves as a forum to
present the latest research ideas and results related to this shared
memory programming model. It also offers the opportunity to interact
with OpenMP users, developers and the people working on the next
release of the standard. The 2010 International Workshop on OpenMP
(IWOMP 2010) will be held in the high-tech city of Tsukuba, Japan.
The workshop IWOMP 2010 will be a three-day event. In the first day,
tutorials are provided for focusing on topics of interest to current
and prospective OpenMP developers, suitable for both beginners as well
as those interested in learning of recent developments in the evolving
OpenMP standard. The second and third day will consist of technical
papers and panel session(s) during which research ideas and results
will be presented and discussed.
Technical Paper Submission and Publication
We solicit submissions of unpublished technical papers detailing
innovative, original research and development related to OpenMP. All
topics related to OpenMP are of interest, including OpenMP
applications in any domain (e.g., scientific computation, video games,
computer graphics, multimedia, information retrieval, optimization,
text processing, data mining, finance, signal and image processing and
numerical solvers), OpenMP performance analysis and modeling, OpenMP
performance and correctness tools and proposed OpenMP extensions.
Advances in technologies, such as multi-core processors and
accelerators (e.g., GPGPU, FPGA), the use of OpenMP in very
large-scale parallel systems, and recent developments in OpenMP itself
(e.g., tasking) present new opportunities and challenges for software
and hardware developers. IWOMP 2010 solicits submissions that
highlight OpenMP work on these fronts.
As in previous years, IWOMP 2010 will publish formal proceedings of
the accepted papers in Springer Verlag's LNCS series. Submitted papers

Mini-track: Master Data Management: Strategies, Concepts and Cases
Track: Data and Information Quality
------------------------------------------------------------------
MINI-TRACK DESCRIPTION
Master data management is referred to as an application-independent
function which describes and manages the business data resource in an
organization. It ensures high quality of master data by providing
guidelines for its management and it creates a common view on the data.
Recently, master data management has received much attention from
business. A major reason for this is the important role high-quality
master data plays with regard to a number of business drivers. Among
them are compliance to regulatory requirements, integrated customer
management and the need of a “single source of the truth” for
company-wide reporting purposes. Despite the relevance of master data
quality, current efforts in practice leave much to be desired. Moreover,
the topic has been discussed in the information systems (IS) research
area to a marginal extent only so far.
The proposed mini-track addresses this gap and aims at giving a forum
for novel concepts and research work in the following areas:
* Strategies for master data management
* Master data centric business scenarios and use cases
* Cost and benefit analysis for master data management
* Application of valuation theories of master data management
* Organizational concepts for master data management
* Human factors in master data management
* Master data governance
* Master data compliance
* Master data quality
* Master data security and privacy aspects
* Master data lifecycle management
* Master data architectures including reference architectures and
architecture patterns
* Master data management deployment methods
* Business metadata management
* Standardization activities
* Data modeling for master data
* Master data and service-orientation
* Software architectures
* Patterns for data distribution and data synchronization
* Case studies and applications
* Industry specific aspects of master data management
The mini-track welcomes innovative research papers from both the
academic and the practitioners’ community.

CALL FOR PAPERS
***********************
The Elsevier Science's Journal Future Generation Computer Systems
with the subtitle: 'The International Journal of Grid Computing:
Theory, Methods and Application' will publish a special issue on
Volunteer Computing and Desktop Grids. Desktop grids and volunteer
computing systems (DGVCS's) utilize the free resources available in
Intranet or Internet environments for supporting large-scale computation
and storage. For over a decade, DGVCS's have been one of the largest
and most powerful distributed computing systems in the world, offering
a high return on investment for applications from a wide range of scientific
domains (including computational biology, climate prediction, and high-energy
physics). While DGVCS's sustain up to PetaFLOPS of computing power from
hundreds of thousands to millions of resources, fully leveraging the
platform's computational power is still a major challenge because of
the immense scale, high volatility, and extreme heterogeneity of such systems.
The purpose of this special issue is to focus on recent advances in the
development ofscalable, fault-tolerant, and secure DGVCS's.
*This special issue will have special emphasis on the interaction of
clouds and desktop grids.
As such, we invite submissions on DGVCS topics including the following:
* Cloud computing over unreliable enterprise or Internet resources
* DGVCS middleware and software infrastructure (including management),
with emphasis on virtual machines
* incorporation of DGVCS's with Grid and Cloud infrastructures
* DGVCS programming environments and models
* modeling, simulation, and emulation of large-scale, volatile environments
* resource management and scheduling
* resource measurement and characterization
* novel DGVCS applications
* data management (strategies, protocols, storage)
* security on DGVCS's (reputation systems, result verification)
* multi-core DGVCS's
* fault-tolerance on shared, volatile resources
* peer-to-peer (P2P) algorithms or systems applied to DGVCS's

adapt and evolve in a turbulent context. Knowledge Management (KM) is a
keyword under which different organizational and technological
approaches to answer this need are referred to. From the beginning of
the KM discourse, the CSCW community has taken a critical stance both in
asking for applied research in the practices of real organizations and
relating technological and organizational innovations. The Special Issue
aims to collect papers reporting on ethnographically-based or
field-based experiences that are confronted with real situations and
highlight problems, requirements and technical solutions that are
derived from those experiences by taking into account the following
perspectives:
- organizational strategies to enact and promote KM within
organizations, and their relation with ICT technology
- various kinds of knowledge, application domains, organizational
structures, and their implication on KM
- methods and approaches for the design of KM solutions
- techniques and technologies for a sustainable KM (CSCW-based
approaches, web-based approaches, etc.)
- critical success factors for KM socio-technical solutions
- evaluation of KM applications in real situations
- lessons-learned in each phase of the KM application life-cycle, from
conception up to continuous adaptation
- critical comparison of technologies, field studies and strategies in KM
- any other perspective contributing to a better understanding of KM in
action
Papers presenting original research must comply with standards specified
at the IJCSCW site:http://www.editorialmanager.com/cosu/ where it is
possible to upload them.
Papers written in English should be sent by 30 April 2010. All submitted
papers will be blind refereed by at least three reviewers.
Acceptance will be based on quality, relevance, originality of the work
and reviewers' comments. Authors will be notified of acceptance or
rejection via e-mail by 30 June 2010. Camera-ready papers are due by 15
September.

Call for Papers
DSS 2010 -- the 15th IFIP WG 8.3 International Conference on Decision
Support Systems under the theme "Bridging the socio-technical gap in DSS
- Challenges for the next decade"
July 7-10, 2010, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, Lisbon,
Portugal http://dss2010.di.fc.ul.pt <http://dss2010.di.fc.ul.pt/>
In recent years, bridging the socio-technical gap has been a challenge
in many areas of research. The socio-technical gap is the great divide
between the social aspects aimed to be supported and those that are
actually supported, due in part to technical limitations and in part to
the complexity of the contexts where decision support must be provided.
In Decision Support Systems, this challenge has raised several important
questions concerned with the account and encapsulation of social aspects
of managerial decision making as well as with the representation of
certain human cognitive aspects, such as intuition or insights within
computational systems. The 2010 International Conference of the IFIP WG
8.3 will focus on the theme "Bridging the socio-technical gap in DSS -
Challenges for the next decade".
The IFIP TC8/Working Group 8.3 conferences present the latest
innovations and achievements of academic communities on Decision Support
Systems (DSS). These advances include theory, systems, computer aided
methods, algorithms, techniques, applications and technologies
supporting decision making.
DSS 2010 is sponsored by the International Federation for Information
Processing (IFIP), the Faculty of Sciences at University of Lisbon,
Operations Research Center-UL and FCT.
Submissions from academics and practitioners are invited and showcases
of real case studies will be especially welcomed. Manuscripts will be
peer-reviewed. The acceptance of the contributions will be based on the
originality of the work, the relevance for the conference theme and its
overall quality.
