Portraying the practice of decision-making in requirements engineering: a
case of large scale bespoke development
Beatrice Alenljung and Anne Persson
Pages 257-279
Abstract: Complex decision-making is a prominent aspect of requirements
engineering (RE) and the need for improved decision support for RE
decision-makers has been identified by a number of authors in the research
literature. A first step toward better decision support in requirements
engineering is to understand multifaceted decision situations of
decision-makers. In this paper, the focus is on RE decision-making in
large scale bespoke development.
Method for stakeholder identification in interorganizational environments
Luciana C. Ballejos and Jorge M. Montagna
Pages 281-297
Abstract: Stakeholders are the first emerging challenge in any software
project. Their identification is a critical task for success.
Nevertheless, many authors consider them as a default product of a
non-explained identification process. Several aspects must be considered
when the project is carried out in environments where multiple
organizations interact.
Managing requirements inter-dependency for software product line
derivation
David Sellier, Mike Mannion and Jason Xabier Mansell
Pages 299-313
Abstract: Software Product Line Engineering (SPLE) can reduce software
development costs, reduce time to market and improve product quality. A
software product line is a set of software products sharing a set of
common features but containing variation points. Successful SPLE requires
making selection decisions at variation points effectively and
efficiently. A significant challenge is how to identify, represent and
manage the inter-dependency of selection decisions for requirements.
The case against a positivist philosophy of requirements engineering
Chris Hinds
Pages315-328
Abstract: Complex decision-making is a prominent aspect of requirements
engineering (RE) and the need for improved decision support for RE
decision-makers has been identified by a number of authors in the research
literature. A first step toward better decision support in requirements
engineering is to understand multifaceted decision situations of

This is the first call for papers for the 10th European Conference on
Knowledge Management, which will be held at the Università Degli Studi Di
Padova, Vincenza, Italy on the 3-4 September 2009.
A main implication of the knowledge economy is that the only way to
prosperity is to make learning and knowledge creation of prime relevance.
Issues of knowledge creation, use and transfer and innovation competencies
building have moved to the forefront of attention in corporate competitive
strategy and in economic, social and industrial policy as well. Competing
worldwide demands individual and organisational creativity, high level
skills and capabilities and adaptive and innovative learning organisations
and institutions. To keep abreast of the volatile and changing environment
organisations, countries and regions need to develop a better
understanding of how knowledge and intellectual capital deliver effective
business processes and high value goods and services. In particular, they
have to develop awareness of and mechanisms to manage the risks that are
inherent to this new context and improved methods to link IC and KM to the
firms future streams of cash flows and GDP growth. ECKM 2009 provides an
opportunity for academics and practitioners from Europe and elsewhere who
are involved in the study; management, development and implementation of
knowledge management initiatives to come together and exchange ideas.
The advisory group for the conference invites submissions of papers on
both the theory and advanced practice of all aspects of knowledge
management (KM) and intellectual capital (IC). The conference in September
2009 is seeking quantitative, qualitative and experience-based papers from
industry and academe. Topics may include but are not limited to:

Call for Papers
Special Issue on
Web 2.0 in travel and tourism: empowering and changing the role of
travellers
Guest Editor:
Marianna Sigala, PhD
Department of Business Administration,
University of the Aegean, Greece
Manuscripts are solicited for a special issue of the international journal
Computers in Human Behaviour Web 2.0 in travel and tourism: empowering
and changing the role of travellers. Articles published in this special
issue will present current, state-of-art research and critical thinking,
designed to equip scholars and practitioners with the necessary knowledge
in the specific area of the impact of Web 2.0 applications in tourism and
travel demand and the ways in which firms redefine their operational
models to address the former.
Web 2.0 is fundamentally changing the way travellers and tourists search,
find, read and trust as well as (collaboratively) produce information
about tourism suppliers and destinations. Moreover, web 2.0 applications
such as collaborative trip planning tools, social and content sharing
networks as well as massive multi-player online role play- social games
such as Secondlife, whereby travellers (collaboratively) design, promote
and produce tour packages, cultural events, hotel rooms and other
travel-tourism products and services, engage travellers in business
operations and transform their role from passive consumers to active
prosumers (producers and consumers) of travel experiences. In this vein,
travel and tourism companies are currently changing and redefining their
business models in order to address the needs and expectations of this new
generation of travellers as well as to more actively involve them into
their business operations.
This special issue of the journal Computers in Human Behaviour seeks
leading-edge research investigating the web 2.0 applications and tools
that transform the role and behaviour of the new generation of travellers
as well as examine the ways in which firms redefine their operational
models to address the former . The overall goal of this special issue is
to disseminate a coherent body of research that will provide insights for
academics and professionals alike into: a) the profile, the behaviour and
the changing role of travellers 2.0, and b) the ways in which travel and
tourism firms transform the management of their value chain and
distribution chain operations for exploiting user-generated content,
inter-customer support and social network interactions in order to
incorporate travellers into their business models.
The objectives of the special issue are to publish findings and exchange
knowledge on the development of new research theories, methodologies and
applications. Thus, theoretical, empirical, experimental, case studies and
policy-oriented contributions are welcome, but all contributions should
clearly address the practical implications of the research reported.
Topics
Topics of papers may include (but they are not limited):
user-generated content: classification, evaluation and use by travellers
travellers involvement in business innovation and new product- service
development
travellers 2.0: profile, behaviour, decision- making processes and roles
in tourism and travel operations and distribution chain
web 2.0 enabled and supported business operations, e.g. travel recommender
systems, CRM 2.0, dynamic packaging tools, travellers tool-kits
travellers 2.0 taxonomies (folksonomies) and social network analysis
virtual social travellers' communities building, management and
applications

INFORMATION SCIENCES JOURNAL - Informatics and Computer Science
Intelligent Systems Applications
An International Journal
Special Issue on: Bio-Inspired Business Systems
Aim and Scope
Computational and financial econometrics has been of interest for a
wide variety of researchers in economics, finance, statistics,
mathematics and computing. Financial time series analysis focus on
asset valuations over time with emphases on option pricing, volatility
measurement, and modelling market microstructure effects. Apart from
theoretical developments, financial time series analyses also have a
high empirical content. The computational aspects of such analyses are
of crucial importance since one typically deals with high-dimensional
problems and large numbers of observations. Existing algorithms often
do not utilize the best computational techniques for efficiency,
stability, or conditioning. Furthermore, environments for conducting
econometrics are inherently computer based. Integrated econometrics
packages have grown well over the years, but still have much room for
development. The field of biologically inspired computing has advanced
rapidly over the past decade. One offshoot of this progress has been
the development of plethoras of biologically inspired algorithms.
Broadly speaking, biologically inspired algorithms draw metaphorical
inspiration from diverse sources, including the operation of
biological neurons, processes of evolution, models of social
interaction amongst organisms, and natural immune systems, in order to
develop tools for solving real-world problems. The behavior of social
insects e.g. ant, bees, bacterial, birds etc largely influence several
problem solving metaphors. The problem encompasses from cargo
scheduling, routing, service management, telecommunication management,
financial forecasting, human resource modeling and many more. The
potential of web intelligence merged with biological algorithms also
drastically contribute the manifold avenues of implementing different
random distribution strategies on web paradigm especially web based
adslot management etc. This could be the next generation commitment of
business.
This special issue is devoted to advances in theory and
applications of the Bio-inspired computational Intelligence in
Business Systems. Roughly speaking, to develop effective and
bio-intelligent business applications and services, it is crucial to
discover useful knowledge through analyzing large amounts of contents,
hidden content structures, or usage patterns of web data resources.
For example, more and more business transactions are processed via the
Internet. Digital content is distributed online, transactions are
managed and sensitive information is exchanged. The development and
realization of business models for secure, user-friendly and
technically efficient distribution of virtual goods – e.g. MP3-files –
is the emphasis in the business area "Media Distribution and Security.
To achieve such a goal, a variety of techniques in diverse research
areas is needed to integrate properly, including artificial neural
networks, Genetic algorithm, rough sets, evolutionary algorithms and
business intelligence applications such as Mission-critical and
integral to an enterprise's operations or occasional to meet a special
requirement, enterprise-wide or local to one division, department, or
project, centrally initiated or driven by user demand, etc. This
special issue intends to provide a premier and open forum for the
dissemination of innovative bio-inspired computational techniques in
business intelligence systems applications. Original papers previously
unpublished and not currently under review by another journal are
solicited that cover one or more of the following topics, but are not
limited to:
Multi-agent model of interbank payment system and future developments
Ant Colony in business management
Heuristic Portfolio Optimization and Risk Management
Pricing in incomplete markets
Automated Trading
High frequency financial econometrics\
