Subject: [AISWorld] CfP CACOE19 – Workshop on Cyber Range Technologies
and Applications - Paper Submission Deadline Extended
Date: Mon, 25 Feb 2019 08:10:28 +0000
From: Teodor Sommestad <teodor.sommestad(a)foi.se>

*** Papers submission deadline extended to March 1, 2019 ***
======================================================================
CACOE 2019 – CALL FOR PAPERS
Workshop on Cyber Range Technologies and Applications (CACOE) June 20, 2019
In conjunction with the 4th IEEE European Symposium on Security and
Privacy June 17-19, 2019, Stockholm, Sweden
WWW: https://cacoe.ait.ac.at/
======================================================================
The Cyber Range Technologies and Applications (CACOE) workshop aims to
bring together researchers advancing, developing and maintaining cyber
ranges (e.g., cyber-physical labs, clouds and other virtual platforms)
supporting cyber security training, tests and exercises. The CACOE19
workshop will be held on June 20, 2019 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Cyber ranges have emerged as a response to the need of high-fidelity
environments for testing, training, exercising capabilities related to
cyber security. They are typically based on virtualization technology
and are used to set up complex computer networks, simulate events, and
observe phenomena in a controlled environment. However, to set up
realistic tests, training or exercises in a cyber range is often
difficult, expensive and error prone. It can be seen as system
administration on steroids, where a few range engineers are to rapidly
build and manage networks of the size that it typically takes a whole IT
department to manage. There are many issues related to technical support
tools (e.g. deployment of virtual machines) that are yet to be solved
and many management issues (e.g. of event data management) that are to
be solved. Furthermore, the application of cyber ranges to tests,
training, and exercises is relatively new. Methodologies for
constructing large events, standards for experiments, and the utility of
cyber ranges to different applications is largely unknown.
AIM & SCOPE
============
The aim of the workshop is to exchange and discuss technologies and
infrastructures required to simulate real systems with cyber incidents
(e.g., simulation of benign or malicious users, evaluation frameworks,
capability measurement). This includes experiences from using such
technologies, e.g. for exercises and tests. The workshop will not focus
on product presentations, feature presentations or marketing of various
technical infrastructures for cyber security training and exercises.
We invite papers from researchers and practitioners working in security,
systems engineering, situational awareness and related areas to submit
their original papers to this workshop. Case studies (successful or not)
related to cyber ranges are also encouraged.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: -Design of
large-scale exercises
-Design of experiments
-Analysis/reviews/tests of tools and components for building large
technical infrastructures -Automated machine configuration and
deployment -Event and scenario management
-Simulation of benign or malicious users -Event monitoring and
evaluation -Data management
-Event operating environments and scenarios modelling -Metrics and
maturity levels -Measurements of training effects and capabilities
-Applications to test cyber security properties
-Human factors in training and exercises -Software as a Service (SaaS)
solutions -Security and privacy challenges -Simulation of tools and
components from various systems (e.g., industrial control systems,
cyber-physical systems, legacy systems, etc.)

Subject: [AISWorld] Call for Papers for minitrack on Social media and
disinformation AMCIS 2019
Date: Sat, 23 Feb 2019 16:06:21 +0000
From: Shah, Vishal <shah3v(a)cmich.edu>
To: aisworld-request(a)lists.aisnet.org
<aisworld-request(a)lists.aisnet.org>, aisworld-bounces(a)lists.aisnet.org
<aisworld-bounces(a)lists.aisnet.org>, aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org
<aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Dear Colleagues,
We kindly invite you to submit your manuscripts to Social media and
disinformation minitrack, under the Information Security and Privacy
track of the 2019 AMCIS conference, which will take place on 15-17
August, 2019 in Cancun, Mexico Submission deadline is March 1, 2019.
Following is a short description of the minitrack.
Minitrack Chair: Rishikesh Jena, University of Alabama,
rjena(a)cba.ua.edu<mailto:rjena@cba.ua.edu>
This minitrack seeks papers that elaborate an address the underlying
causes of disinformation through technological means. Researchers have
identified how false information is spread more quickly, deeper, and
further due to human nature accepting rumors more quickly over truthful
statements (Vosoughi, Roy & Aral 2018). The use of social technologies,
which allow for quick dissemination of information further encourages
this dynamic by offering strong user engagement but little to no context
to users. A balancing act is required in the use of these technologies
between mechanisms for disseminating information while allowing us to
check the validity of this information. Technological developments
(algorithms, big data, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and
smart technologies) hold the promise of combating misinformation. At the
same time, artificial intelligence, big data, and algorithms offer
little to no access to information that they make inferences about our
online actions that are often used to present advertisements or
information to us.
While the impact of disinformation is mostly believed to influence
socio-political opinion, however, it is also likely to affect the world
of business. For example, troll farms are buying advertising to
disseminate information on a scale that can potentially reach millions
of users. Additionally, this information can spread within an
organization via “Enterprise Social Media” (ESM) (Leonardi, Huysman, &
Steinfield, 2013). ESM can spread disinformation within the
organization, hence making internal operations of an organization
susceptible to disinformation/misinformation. This can become especially
problematic if the organization is in the business of information
dissemination such as Facebook and Twitter. What mechanisms frameworks
are needed to ensure institutions have immunity against “fake news”.
Thus, combating disinformation is a dual challenge, as it can impact the
supply and demand side of information dissemination business.
We encourage submissions dealing with social media and interaction of
“fake news” at an individual level as well as enterprise levels.
In this track, we are therefore looking for research on the diverse
causes of misinformation/disinformation in social technologies and a
variety of ways that these technologies can help us combat it. We
welcome articles that detail how technological enterprises such as
Facebook or Twitter as a unit) develop strategies to combat
disinformation as well as theoretical frameworks we can draw on to
develop such strategies.
This mini-track welcomes all types of empirical and theoretical
contributions. Possible topics include but are not limited to:
- Enterprise responses to fight disinformation
- Case Studies of enterprises that have fallen prey to disinformation
campaigns
- Technical solutions and their scalability to protect the integrity of
information
- User education and usage policies in the space of 'fake news"
- The ability of ESM to discriminate between real and doctored
information given that technical tools (such as algorithms, big data,
artificial intelligence etc.) are also used by disinformation campaigns

Dear Colleagues,
We kindly invite you to submit your manuscripts to User experience,
human-computer interaction, and design of (dis)information minitrack,
under the Information Security and Privacy track of the 2019 AMCIS
conference, which will take place on 15-17 August, 2019 in Cancun,
Mexico Submission deadline is March 1, 2019. Following is a short
description of the minitrack.
Minitrack Chair: Gustav Verhulsdonck, Central Michigan University,
verhu1g(a)cmich.edu<mailto:verhu1g@cmich.edu>
This mini track seeks papers at the intersection of User Experience (UX)
design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and disinformation. Design for
user experiences is one way to tackle the problem of disinformation.
Today’s technological devices may promote the engagement of a user by
designers utilizing deep knowledge of the user’s behavior and psychology
(Choi & Kim 2004; Chou & Ting 2003). Persuasive design and design for
behavior motivate users to stay longer on a platform by “gaming” their
behavior or decisions through the design of an interface (Fogg 2002;
Lockton et al. 2010). It can range from simplifying a design with a
clear call-to-action so that the user makes a purchase, coax them into
staying on the platform, or from deceptive practices where threatening
language is used to prevent users from opting in/out of policies (aka
“confirmshaming”). Often, design practices can serve to clarify things
for the user, but they may also utilize disinformation and serve the
underlying economic motive of the platform. What mechanisms can help
prevent disinformation from a design point of view? Which design
practices should UX designers consider to counter disinformation and
develop more transparent, ethical design for users?
We encourage all types of papers dealing with the design of
disinformation exploring issues of agency, platforms, and design in
light of the challenges of user experience.
This mini-track welcomes all types of empirical and theoretical
contributions. Possible topics include but are not limited to:
- Business models of internet companies and their relation to
disinformation/misinformation
- Political and societal impacts of disinformation/misinformation
- Efficacy of measures to counter disinformation/misinformation
- Social bots and their impacts on changes in perception "usser experience"
- HCI perspectives on disinformation/misinformation

LOCATION
Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital - a city, whose name means `The beloved',
is a great place to visit, although you will not find world renowned
attractions here. Nevertheless, it has history, tradition, style, arts
& culture, an atmosphere that is both Central European and Mediterranean;
many also add the adjectives multilingual and hospitable. Being close to
many of the major sights and attractions of Slovenia, Ljubljana can also be
your starting point to discover the country's diversity.
Ljubljana is situated about halfway between Vienna and Venice. Its
character and appearance have been shaped by diverse cultural influences
and historical events. While in winter it is remarkable for its dreamy
Central European character, it is the relaxed Mediterranean feel that
stands out during summer.
Ljubljana is a picturesque city full of romantic views, with a medieval
castle towering over its historical city centre and a calm river spanned by
a series of beautiful bridges running right through it. It's a city with
a medieval heart, a city of the Baroque and Art Nouveau, with an old castle
resting above it like a sleeping beauty.
In Ljubljana eastern and western cultures met; and the Italian concept of
art combined with the sculptural aesthetics of Central European cathedrals.
The city owes its present appearance partly to Italian baroque and partly
to Art Nouveau, which is the style of the numerous buildings erected
immediately after the earthquake of 1895.
The central point of interest in Ljubljana is the Ljubljana Castle,
watching over the city from the centrally located castle hill. The
beginnings of the medieval castle go back to the 9th century, although the
castle building is first mentioned only in 1144. It gained its present
image after the earthquake of 1511 and following further renovations at the
beginning of the 17th century. At present, a funicular connects the Old
Town to the castle hill, adding an even more convenient access alternative
to the tourist train.
Ljubljana lies at the centre of Slovenia. In the morning you can visit the
stunningly beautiful Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj or Soca Valley in the high

LOCATION
Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital - a city, whose name means `The beloved',
is a great place to visit, although you will not find world renowned
attractions here. Nevertheless, it has history, tradition, style, arts
& culture, an atmosphere that is both Central European and Mediterranean;
many also add the adjectives multilingual and hospitable.
In the morning you can visit the
stunningly beautiful Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj or Soca Valley in the high
mountainous region of the Alps, and in the evening enjoy the sunset in one
of the charming little towns on the Adriatic coast. It only takes
minutes to reach the peaceful and unspoiled countryside of
the city's green surrounding areas, which offer endless opportunities for
hiking, cycling, fishing and horse riding.
We are very excited of the fact that the TSD conference leaves the Czech
Republic for the first time within its 22-year history and that the TSD2019
is going to take place in such a wonderful location as Ljubljana.

Subject: [AISWorld] CFP: AMCIS 2019 Mini-track: Information Systems for
Sustainable and Resilient Businesses and Supply Chains
Date: Fri, 22 Feb 2019 15:05:59 +0000
From: Dao, Viet <VTDao(a)ship.edu>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Call for Papers: 25th AMCIS
August 15 - 17, 2019, Cancun, Mexico
Track: Green IS and Sustainability (SIGGreen)
Minitrack: Information Systems for Sustainable and Resilient Businesses
and Supply Chains
Organizations are increasingly demanding sustainable and resilient
business strategies, activities, and supply chains. While the effort to
address issues such as the rapid depletion of natural resources,
concerns over wealth disparity, and corporate social responsibility is
difficult, companies have increasingly recognized that business
strategies that boldly embrace sustainability have resulted in
companies’ being successful in delivering financial, environmental, and
social values to themselves as well as related stakeholders (MIT Sloan
Management Review report, 2011).This can be especially true in the face
of threats such as natural disasters that strain traditional supply
chains (Sheffi and Rice, 2005), and require new and resilient
information systems approaches to address their challenges (Wang, Gao
and Ip, 2010).
In order to develop capabilities to address issues that affect their
people, profits, and planet, businesses need to engage in wide ranging
activities such as changing business culture, redesigning business
processes, etc. (Hart & Milstein, 2003; Porter & Kramer, 2006). More
importantly, research as well as management practice have illustrated
that to be truly sustainable, companies should take a holistic approach
that includes participation of multiple business functions.
Additionally, businesses should focus on not only their own sustainable
business operations but also sustainable business practices across the
supply chain, (Kleindorfer, Singhal, & Van Wassenhove, 2005; Dao,
Langella, & Carbo, 2011; Elliot, 2011).
Given the recognized role of IT resources in enabling business
capabilities within and across supply chain partners (Rai, Patnayakuni,
& Seth, 2006; Jain, Wadhwa, & Deshmukh, 2009; Zhang, Luna-Reyes, Jarman
and Tayi, 2015), it is arguable that IT resources should be critical in
enabling firms to develop capabilities to address sustainability issues
both within firms and across their supply chain through coordination
with supply chain partners (Melville, 2010; Dao et al., 2011, Maholtra,
Melville, Watson, 2013). We invite research from all business areas,
including MIS, management, supply chain and operation management, and
particularly inter-disciplinary research that examines the role of IT
resources in conjunction with other business resources in enabling firms
to develop sustainability strategy that address all aspects of the
triple bottom line, both within firms and across supply chain partners.
Recent developments in using Blockchain to support energy markets
(Wagman, 2017) and to support transparency in supply chains (Casey and
Wong, 2017) offer potentially interesting avenues for Green IS research.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
– IS enabling sustainability coordination and assessment within firms
and across supply chains
– IS enabling sustainable innovations
– The application of IS to disaster relief and recovery supply chains
– Intertwining of environmentally and socially sustainable practices
– Using technologies like blockchain and cryptocurrencies to facilitate
supply chain transparency and to improve energy markets
– IS enabling environmentally and socially sustainable business operations
– Sustainability vision and strategy within and across firms
