One of the most significant of these challenges is the issue of comparative evaluation. It has always been difficult to rigorously compare different approaches to personalization, as the function of the resulting systems is, by their nature, heavily influenced by the behaviour of the users involved in trialling the systems. To-date this topic has received relatively little attention. Developing comparative evaluations in this space would be a huge advancement as it would enable shared comparison across research, which to-date has been very limited. Taking inspiration from communities, such as Information Retrieval and Machine Translation, the EvalUMAP Workshop series seek to propose and design one or more shared tasks to support the comparative evaluation of approaches to User Modelling, Adaptation and Personalization. This year’s workshop will solicit presentations from key practitioners in the field on innovative datasets that meet specific requirements (e.g. ownership, accessibility, privacy) and that could form the basis to start scoping and designing shared task-based challenges and evaluations in the area of user adaptation and personalisation for next year. The resulting shared task(s) will be accompanied by appropriate models, content, metadata, user behaviours, etc., and can be used to comprehensively compare how different approaches and systems perform. In addition, a number of evaluation metrics and methods will be outlined, that participants would be expected to perform in order to facilitate comparison. Finally, the proposed shared task(s) will be disseminated in the community and the resulting outcomes will be presented at an EvalUMAP forum next year. In particular, the planned outcomes of the EvalUMAP Workshop 2017 is as follows: (1) A clear understanding of the challenges and requirements related to the design of a shared task-based approach in User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization space and (2) identify specific issues and requirements on user data capturing and dataset processing in the context of personalization for a shared task (3) the identification and description of suitable and publicly accessible datasets that overcome the previous identified challenges and (4) the design of shared task-based evaluations using suitable datasets that will take place throughout 2017 and early 2018, and be presented at UMAP 2018. Workshop topics are evaluation focused and include, but are not limited to: * Understanding UMAP evaluation * Defining tasks and scenarios for evaluation purposes * Identification of potential corpora (datasets) for shared tasks * Automated and semi automated processes on creating appropriate datasets and simulating user behaviours etc in order to accommodate a shared task * Interesting target tasks and explanations of their importance * Critiques or comparisons of existing evaluation metrics and methods * How we can combine existing evaluation metrics and methods? * Reusing or improving previously suggested metrics and methods * Reducing the cost of evaluation * Proposal of new evaluation metrics and methods * Technical challenges associated with design and implementation * Anonymization of datasets, Privacy, Ethics and Security issues on the use of datasets Workshop format: This will be an interactive workshop structured to encourage group discussion and active collaboration among attendees. The workshop will feature a keynote talk, lightning round presentation session for position papers, multiple (parallel) breakout sessions, and a final discussion session to wrap up the event. Paper Submissions The workshop is now accepting position papers from 2 to 6 pages (including references) describing approaches or ideas/challenges on the topics of the workshop are invited. In particular, three types of papers are solicited: (1) papers describing available infrastructure that could be used to capture data for shared evaluation challenges; (2) papers describing available datasets that could be exploited for shared challenge generation; (3) papers describing challenges and potential solutions around shared challenge generation in the UMAP space. Submissions should be in ACM Standard SIGCONF format. Owing to the 50-year march of Moores Law, we have witnessed the creation of a relatively cheap and increasingly easy-to-use world-wide digital infrastructure of computers, mobile devices, broadband network connections, and advanced application platforms (Fichman et al. 2014). This advanced digitalization of industry and commerce as well as the further integration of smart objects merging the physical with the digital seem to result in new fundamental paradigm shifts. These developments have crucial technological but also manifold organizational implications. Due to this immersive digitization of everyday life and the fast changes in the industrial environment (i.e. Industry 4.0/Industrial Internet) enterprises face numerous external as well as internal challenges which in turn require effective governance and coordination of internal but also intercorporate business processes. It has never been more important for enterprises to be able to rely on IT-enabled capabilities as well as to count on a deep understanding of information technology in general and in digital innovation in particular. In order to be able to cope with the challenges of a digital era and to execute a fitting digital business strategy the successful implementation, adoption, and use of suitable software systems is essential. These systems have to be easily adjustable to allow fast reactions to continuous business changes and digital innovations. As a consequence there is a huge demand for adaptable enterprise software. This especially applies to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems as fully integrated and comprehensive solutions for supporting business processes on a company-wide level. Despite many efforts towards system consolidation in the past, businesses today struggle with quite heterogeneous and complex software landscapes consisting of different software system types and components (e.g., CRM, SRM, SCM or function-oriented components) and challenging integration requirements. Thus, a tendency towards more architectural flexibility regarding enterprise systems and also a certain rejection of strongly integrated approaches can be observed. Today, enterprises increasingly aim to support individual business areas with separate area- or task-specific systems. With powerful end user tools at hand and decentralized development of functionality not being part of the official corporate IT (Shadow IT) managing these landscapes that encompass totally different strands of technology (operational systems vs. groupware/social media) becomes even more demanding. The possibility of running systems in the cloud (software on demand, software as a service) widens the range of digital options to become more flexible. However, benefitting from these possibilities and chances is not a trivial task and calls for new management approaches such as bimodal or two-speed IT management. Despite the experience of several decades, implementation-, adjustment- or integration-projects on the company-level still heavily strain the entire company and its resources as they imply severe intrusions into the enterprises´ structures and processes. Changes resulting from these projects possibly affect the corporate culture or even necessitate cultural change as well. This is even more so the stronger these projects are linked to a digital transformation endeavor. Thus, a comprehensive and well-designed project management embedded in long-term transformation approaches still is an essential component of any significant change in the enterprise system landscape. This minitrack aims to discuss different facets and characteristics of the digital transformation / transformation of traditional enterprise software systems and the resulting, changing requirements towards enterprise structures and cultures as well as related project and IT management topics. All developed economies face the challenge of aging societies. Not only is the percentage of the elderly within the population growing, they are also getting older then generations before. This trend puts tremendous pressure on social and healthcare systems around the world. Electronic resources (wearables, apps, websites, virtual discussion groups, social media etc.) provide a perspective to enable seniors to life longer in self-contained circumstances then today. The minitrack addresses these challenges and opportunities by providing a forum to share high quality research on all aspects of electronic resources which benefit the aging society. We welcome empirical and conceptual work as well as design science papers. All research which adds to our understanding how electronic resources are accepted and used by seniors and what benefit they provide is in scope of the minitrack. In this framework, humanistic data interpretation and management lead to the need for the building of a related research community. In this manner the organization of the 5th consecutive Mining Humanistic Data Workshop comes to establish the aforementioned research foundations towards efficient processing and analyzing of data. Being a digital multimedia world, the aim is rather twofold: on the one hand, to extract meaningful information and knowledge that will help us understand human behavior, creativity, reasoning, learning, decision making, socializing and even biological processes; on the other hand, to exploit the extracted knowledge from raw data by incorporating it into intelligent systems that will support humans in their everyday activities. Over the years it is commonly accepted by researchers that the nature of humanistic data can be multimodal, semantically heterogeneous, dynamic, time and space-dependent, and highly complicated. Translating humanistic information, e.g., behavior, state of mind, artistic creation, linguistic utterance, learning and genomic information into numerical or categorical low-level data is a significant challenge on its own. New techniques capable of dealing with this kind of data need to be implemented, whereas existing ones should be creatively adapted to the special characteristics identified. The 5th Mining Humanistic Data Workshop aims to bring together interdisciplinary approaches that focus on the application of innovative, as well as existing, data matching, fusion and mining, knowledge discovery and management, techniques, like for instance decision rules and trees, association rules, ontologies and alignments, clustering, filtering, supervised or unsupervised learning, classifier systems, neural networks, support vector machines, pre- or post-processing, feature selection, visualization techniques, et al.. To illustrate human-centered application functionalities, data management approached derived from all fields of humanistic sciences, like linguistic, historical, behavioral, psychological, artistic, musical, educational, social or other types of data, will be also welcomed in the framework of this community. Research efforts that typically collect large volumes of usually heterogeneous data, like ubiquitous computing applications (aka pervasive or mobile ! computing, ambient intelligence, etc.) or big data mining methodologies are also encouraged in the sense of content adaptation, learning and overall context awareness. Last, but not least an important aspect of related human-centered research efforts in informatics deals also with the managing, processing and computationally analyzing of biological and biomedical data within the broader scope of bioinformatics. Hence, one of the aims of this workshop will be to also attract researchers interested in designing, developing and applying efficient data mining techniques for discovering the underlying knowledge inherent in such data, such as sequences, gene expressions and pathways. -------------- Aim and topics -------------- The single track 1-day workshop aims to provide a platform for exchanging fresh ideas and expertise, and for obtaining feedback on ongoing research. However, the content in the Web is typically for human consumption, and is not tailored for machine processing. The Semantic Web is hence intended to establish a machine-understandable Web, and is currently also used in many other domains and not only in the Web. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has developed a number of standards around this vision. Among them is the Resource Description Framework (RDF), which is used as the data model of the Semantic Web. The W3C has also defined SPARQL as the RDF query language, RIF as the rule language, and the ontology languages RDFS and OWL to describe schemas of RDF. The usage of common ontologies increases interoperability between heterogeneous data sets, and the proprietary ontologies with the additional abstraction layer facilitate the integration of these data sets. Therefore, we can argue that the Semantic Web is ideally designed to work in heterogeneous Big Data environments. We define Semantic Big Data as the intersection of Semantic Web data and Big Data. There are masses of Semantic Web data freely available to the public - thanks to the efforts of the linked data initiative. According to http://stats.lod2.eu/ the current freely available Semantic Web data is approximately 150 billion triples in over 2,800 datasets, many of which are accessible via SPARQL query servers called SPARQL endpoints. Everyone can submit SPARQL queries to SPARQL endpoints via a standardized protocol, where the queries are processed on the datasets of the SPARQL endpoints and the query results are sent back in a standardized format. Hence, not only Semantic Big Data is freely available, but also distributed execution environments for Semantic Big Data are freely accessible. This makes the Semantic Web an ideal playground for Big Data research. The goal of this workshop is to bring together academic researchers and industry practitioners to address the challenges and report and exchange the research findings in Semantic Big Data, including new approaches, techniques and applications, make substantial theoretical and empirical contributions to, and significantly advance the state of the art of Semantic Big Data. ** Types of Papers ** The workshop solicits papers of different types: - Research Papers propose new approaches, theories or techniques related to Semantic Big Data including new data structures, algorithms and whole systems. They should make substantial theoretical and empirical contributions to the research field. - Experiments and Analysis Papers focus on the experimental evaluation of existing approaches including data structures and algorithms for Semantic Big Data and bring new insights through the analysis of these experiments. Results of Experiments and Analysis Papers can be, for example, showing benefits of well-known approaches in new settings and environments, opening new research problems by demonstrating unexpected behavior or phenomena, or comparing a set of traditional approaches in an experimental survey. - Application Papers report practical experiences on applications of Semantic Big Data. The RecSys Challenge 2017 is organized by XING, Politecnico Milano and Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. XING is a social network for business. People use XING, for example, to find a job and recruiters use XING to find the right candidate for a job. At the moment, XING has more than 18 million users and typically around 1 million active job postings on the platform. This year's edition of the RecSys Challenge aims to better connect job seekers and recruiters via job recommendations. The challenge focuses on a cold-start scenario: given a new job posting, the goal is to identify those users that (a) may be interested in receiving the job posting as a push recommendation and (b) that are also appropriate candidates for the given job. The RecSys Challenge will consist of two phases: (1) offline evaluation and (2) online evaluation. The 22nd edition of the conference will be held in Limassol, Cyprus. Limassol (or Lemesos) is a multicultural bustling town, flanked by two ancient cities, Amathus and Kourion, and guarded by the Amathusian Aphrodite and Appolo Hylates. It is a town of great visual diversity and contrast from spectacular seafront views, historic places like the mediaeval Castle, and Byzantine churches. Along the 17 km long sandy beaches, two Marinas, world renowned 5 star hotels, and a most exciting dining, shopping, nightlife and yachting scene create a year-round vibrant lifestyle well beyond the expectations of a Mediterranean island.
