Dear colleagues,
A CAISE'16 (http://caise2016.si/) workshop on Socio-Technical
Perspective in IS development
STPIS'16 - http://stpis2016.blogs.dsv.su.se/
is still accepting submissions**of the following types of papers*: *
Position papers,
Idea papers
Experience reports
Research papers
Multi-media presentations.
Posters*
*
Full description see at http://stpis2016.blogs.dsv.su.se/
Short description is presented below
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Despite that a socio-technical perspective has been around for over a
half century, it is often forgotten in the Information Systems (IS)
discourse today. Consequently, many “new approaches” appear to reflect
on IS systems problems, such as modern IT systems poorly adjusted to the
external or/and internal environment (e.g. market, organizational
culture) of organizations in which they are (to be) deployed. We
strongly believe that it is high time the social-technical perspective
took its proper place in IS research, practice and teaching.
The main purpose of the workshop is to arrange discussions on using a
socio-technical perspective in IS development, the long term goal being
to make this workshop a meeting place for the community of IS
researchers and practitioners interested in the socio-technical approach.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
Case studies using socio-technical approach
Information system design using socio-technical approach
Socio-technical comparative studies of technology/IS adoption
Socio-technical analysis, design, development and integration of
– health care systems
– crisis management systems
– information security management systems
– learning systems
– privacy enhanced technology
Societal Security from a socio-technical perspective
Ethnographic and Anthropological aspects of IS design and adoption
IT business alignment from a socio-technical perspective
Using Viable System Model (VSM) for analysis and design of
socio-technical systems

Recent reports show that more and more companies adopt social media to
support knowledge management (KM). These companies experience
considerable changes in the way they communicate and collaborate
internally once they have implemented related technologies and
platforms. In addition, the challenges of the digital age make
transforming underlying work practices and organizational structures
more urgent. While the organizational capacity to deal with social media
is maturing, we are far from embracing those changes on knowledge
practices. A number of questions is to be addressed: What does the
emergence of social and related mobile media mean for KM initiatives in
companies? Do they have to and how do they rethink their processes and
strategies? What are the timely relevant research fields for academia?
Which of our established KM models do still hold, where do we need new
models or frameworks? This minitrack calls for contributions that take
KM one step further in the light of these contexts.
Topics include but are not limited to:
* Exploring existent theories to understand social and mobile media
related KM and work place phenomena
* Appropriation and use of social and mobile media upon individual
users, groups, businesses, and governments for KM
* Role of social and mobile collaboration in digital transformation and
KM strategies
* Changing organizational cultures and structures through social and
mobile media
* Social media and KM performance
* Sociomateriality and ontological issues
* New leadership paradigms in knowledge practices and in connected
workforce environments
* Risks and challenges of social and mobile media for knowledge
practices, e.g. information overload, technostress, and protection of
information assets
* Value and risks of analytics through the social and mobile
technologies enabled “digital footprint” of the organization
* New developments in knowledge and work practices, e.g. adaptive mix

*Introduction*
Recent years have witnessed breakthroughs in sensing technology,
treatments and ways to interact with patients in medical and healthcare
applications. Examples include minimally-invasive embedded and
bio-compatible devices, deep-brain stimulation, "smart skin", and
artificial retinas. In addition, the medical device industry is
undergoing a rapid transformation, embracing the potential of embedded
software and network connectivity. Yet, despite the tremendous promise,
the medical devices are still burdened by complex design, safety
assurance, and tendency to operate independently.
Medical Cyber-Physical Systems are safety-critical, interconnected,
intelligent systems of medical devices. The combination of embedded
software controlling the devices, networking capabilities, unique
sensing and actuation technologies, and complicated physical dynamics
exhibited by patient bodies highlights some of the specific research
challenges for this distinct class of cyber-physical systems. As such
systems become increasingly complex, interconnected, and interoperating,
the major challenge is how to assure and improve the safety, security,
efficiency and reliability of medical cyber-physical systems.
*Scope, Description, and More Information*
This special issue seeks papers describing significant research
contributions in the domain of medical cyber-physical systems; each
paper should show enough evidence of contributions to medical
cyber-physical systems applications and systems in practice. Areas of
interest include, but are not limited to:
* Case studies and experience reports for medical cyber-physical systems
* Infrastructure support for high-confidence medical cyber-physical
systems, including architectures, platforms, middleware, resource
management, QoS
* Medical device Plug-and-Play operation and interoperability
* Control and sensing in medical cyber-physical systems for
physiological closed-loop treatment - assuring safety and
effectiveness for systems with varying degree of caregiver supervision
* Programming models and tools for high-confidence medical systems
* Modeling and analysis of safety and reliability properties of
medical cyber-physical systems

Betreff: [AISWorld] CFP HICSS-50 mini track on ICT4D: ICTs and
Sustainable Development
Datum: Wed, 23 Mar 2016 08:42:24 +0000
Von: Devendra Bahadur Thapa <devinder.thapa(a)uia.no>
An: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
ICT4D: ICTs and Sustainable Development Minitrack
In 2012 Walsham published an article with the question "Are we making a better world with ICTs?". Walsham encouraged the information systems community to explore how ICTs could help improve individual capabilities and opportunities to use technology to improve their lives. These questions are at the core of the Information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D) field that focuses on the use of ICT to foster positive changes for individuals, communities or nations. The focus is on the lives of the poor and marginalized by improving their economy, health, security, education and so on. The field is multidisciplinary and often includes theories from fields such as information systems, development studies, business and political science.
That ICTs can foster a positive development is now widely accepted in the research community. The question now is rather how ICT can contribute to the betterment of the poor and marginalized. The mechanics and processes by which ICT lead to development is not fully understood. There is also a shortage in the understanding of the role of different stakeholders in development efforts using ICT. International donor agencies, national government and non-government organizations (NGOs) all play an important role. But we need a clearer understanding on the effectiveness of different development efforts undertaken by the different actors, and the role that different actors can and should have in the development process. We welcome theoretical and conceptual discussions as well as empirical studies. The papers should strive to provide future guidance to the field. We do not only look for success stories; criticism of the field and of existing approaches may be just as insightful as guidance for future efforts.
Minitrack topics include, but are not limited to:
· The role of government and NGOs in ICT4D
· The role that the international community should play
· The role of national ICT policies for development
· The role of social media in ICT4D
· The role of champions and mediators
· Cases of government-led ICT4D implementations in developing countries
· What are the theories that should be used in the assessment of ICT4D projects
· What are the theories that should guide ICT4D research and practice

WOMoCoE 2016
http://www.iaoa.org/womocoe/2016/
International Workshop on Ontology Modularity, Contextuality, and Evolution
==================================
Organisers: Stefano Borgo, Loris Bozzato, Chiara Del Vescovo, Martin Homola
This workshop brings together two long standing event series: WoMO, the workshops on modular ontology, and ARCOE, the workshops on automated reasoning on context and ontology evolution. The goal is to discuss these topics in a single venue and try to compare/integrate the new ideas on ontology modularity, context and evolution. The workshop is open to theoretical and application research, experiences and innovative visions featuring a Program Committee with a mix of experienced and young groundbreaking people. WOMOCoE will feature an invited talk by Jerome Euzenat. Student grants available!

CONTACT 2016
http://www.loa.istc.cnr.it/CONTACT2016
Second International Workshop on Computer vision + ONTology:
Applied Cross-disciplinary Technologies
==================================
Organisers: Marco Cristani, Céline Hudelot, Daniele Porello
The aim of the CONTACT series is to bring together a wide range of researchers in formal ontology on the one side and computer vision and machine learning on the other, to share innovative ideas and solutions for exploiting the potential synergies emerging from the integration of the two domains. The problem of image and video understanding is a complex task that benefits from a multi-disciplinary perspective. CONTACT provides a venue to discuss a principled methodology to ascribe meaning to images and videos, as well as the applications of this methodology to querying image databases, reasoning about images and scenes, inferring information from videos.
==================================
CAOS 2016
http://caos.inf.unibz.it/
First International Workshop on Cognition and Ontologies
==================================
Organisers: Maria M. Hedblom, Tarek R. Besold, Oliver Kutz, Tony Veale
CAOS is for researchers interested in discussing cognitive mechanisms and phenomena from an ontological perspective. Work on artificial intelligence, cognitive systems, applied ontology, natural language processing, reasoning, formal concept invention, and philosophical aspects of the former are the main focus of the workshop. (Still, all other topics relating cognition and ontology are of course equally welcome.) We especially encourage submissions on different theories of cognition, work addressing the symbol grounding problem(s), and attempts to make concrete the abstract nature of concepts and metaphors. Join us!

NSWO 2016

New Standards for the Working Ontologist: Common Logic and DOL
==================================
Organisers: Michael Gruninger, Oliver Kutz, Till Mossakowski, Fabian Neuhaus
NSWO 2016 will be entirely devoted to two new standards in the realm of applied ontology: the second revision of Common Logic and the new Distributed Ontology, Model, and Specification Language, DOL. NSWO will provide tutorials introducing syntax and semantics of both Common Logic and DOL. We will be discussing a number of modelling and interoperability problems that can be addressed with these standards, analyse the mostly complementary relationship between Common Logic and DOL, and demonstrate available tools. NSWO also invites contributed scientific papers involving Common Logic and/or DOL.

Ontologies and Conceptual Modeling
==================================
Organisers: Giancarlo Guizzardi, Sergio de Cesare, Frederik Gailly, Mark Lycett, Chris Partridge, Oscar Pastor
This year the theme ofOnto.Com <http://Onto.Com> will be Foundational Ontologies and their Meta-ontological Choices. Leading ontologists and conceptual modelers will be invited to discuss and comparatively analyze different foundational ontologies, their meta-ontological choices and their associated modeling processes. The workshop will be practically oriented and discussions will be centered on models produced for a common case study. This will facilitate discussions related to the consequences of making different meta-ontological choices.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Please refer to the individual workshops for detailed lists of topics
appropriate for each workshop and submission modalities.
All submissions will be peer-reviewed by members of the program
committees of the individual workshops. Accepted papers will be made
available in the form of a single joint workshop proceedings volume published at CEUR.
For additional publication plans check the individual workshops.
