ScalA15: Workshop on Latest Advances in
Scalable Algorithms for Large-Scale Systems
held in conjunction with the
SC15: The International Conference on High Performance
Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis
in cooperation with ACM SIGHPC
November 16, 2015, Austin, TX, USA
<http://www.csm.ornl.gov/srt/conferences/Scala/2015>
Novel scalable scientific algorithms are needed in order to enable key
science applications to exploit the computational power of large-scale
systems. This is especially true for the current tier of leading petascale
machines and the road to exascale computing as HPC systems continue to scale
up in compute node and processor core count. These extreme-scale systems
require novel scientific algorithms to hide network and memory latency, have
very high computation/communication overlap, have minimal communication, and
have no synchronization points.
Scientific algorithms for multi-petaflop and exa-flop systems also need to be
fault tolerant and fault resilient, since the probability of faults increases
with scale. Resilience at the system software and at the algorithmic level is
needed as a crosscutting effort. Finally, with the advent of heterogeneous
compute nodes that employ standard processors as well as GPGPUs, scientific
algorithms need to match these architectures to extract the most performance.
This includes different system-specific levels of parallelism as well as
co-scheduling of computation. Key science applications require novel
mathematical models and system software that address the scalability and
resilience challenges of current- and future-generation extreme-scale HPC
systems.
Submission Guidelines
Authors are invited to submit manuscripts in English structured as technical
papers not exceeding 8 letter size (8.5in x 11in) pages including figures,
tables, and references using the ACM format for conference proceedings.
Submissions not conforming to these guidelines may be returned without
review. Reference style files are available at <http://www.acm.org
publications/article-templates/proceedings-template.html>.
All manuscripts will be reviewed and judged on correctness, originality,
technical strength, and significance, quality of presentation, and interest
and relevance to the workshop attendees. Submitted papers must represent
original unpublished research that is not currently under review for any
other conference or journal. Papers not following these guidelines will be
rejected without review and further action may be taken, including (but not
limited to) notifications sent to the heads of the institutions of the
authors and sponsors of the conference. Submissions received after the due
date, exceeding length limit, or not appropriately structured may also not be
considered. At least one author of an accepted paper must register for and
attend the workshop. Authors may contact the workshop program chair for more
information. Papers should be submitted electronically at: <https://
easychair.org/conferences/?conf=scala20150>.
Full papers will be published with the SC'15 workshop proceedings in the ACM
Digital Library and IEEE Xplore. Selected papers will be invited for an
extended version in a special issue of the Journal of Computational Science
(JoCS).

CONTEXT AND SCOPE
Enterprises increasingly recognize the compelling economic and
operational benefits of Cloud Computing. Virtualizing and pooling IT
resources in the cloud enables organizations to realize significant cost
savings and accelerates deployment of new applications, simultaneously
transforming business and government at an unprecedented pace. However,
those valuable business benefits cannot be unlocked without addressing
new data security challenges posed by Cloud Computing.
Deploying confidential information and critical IT resources in the
Cloud raises concerns about vulnerability to attack, especially because
of the anonymous, multi-tenant nature of cloud computing. Applications
and storage volumes often reside next to potentially hostile virtual
environments, leaving information at risk to theft, unauthorized
exposure or malicious manipulation. Governmental regulation of data
privacy and location presents the additional concern of significant
legal and financial consequences if data confidentiality is breached, or
if Cloud providers inadvertently move regulated data across
international borders.
This workshop aims to provide a fertile ground for creative debate and
presentation of research results, practical experiences, and innovative
ideas in all security aspects related to cloud computing. CloudSPD'15
focuses on Cloud Computing security, and invites research efforts from
both the academia and industry in order to facilitate the dissemination
of research and development of the next generation cloud platforms,
applications and methods that will lead to better and more secure by
design cloud-based systems.
TOPICS
Topics of interest comprise, but are not limited to, the following
categories:
* Cloud Security by design frameworks
* Intra- and inter-cloud security issues
* Privacy policies for clouds
* Secure management of virtualized resources
* Privacy Enforcement for cloud applications and platforms
* Trusted computing technology
* Cloud access control and key management
* Computation over encrypted data
* Secure cloud architecture
* Data protection and secured information sharing in the cloud
*Submissions*
**
Submitted manuscripts should be structured as technical papers and may
not exceed six (6) single-spaced double-column pages using 10-point size
font on 8.5×11 inch pages (IEEE conference style), including figures,
tables, and references.
Electronic submissions must be in the form of a readable PDF file.
Manuscripts must be received by */August 28, 2015/* (extended). All
manuscripts will be blind peer reviewed by the Program Committee and
evaluated on originality, relevance of the problem to the conference
theme, technical strength, rigor in analysis, quality of results, and
organization and clarity of presentation of the paper.
Submissions will be done electronically through EasyChair:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cloudspd15
*At least one author of each accepted paper must be registered for the
UCC 2015 conference and present the paper in order to be published in

*** Final Call for Papers ***
8th IEEE/ACM International Conference on Utility and Cloud
Computing (UCC 2015)
December 07-10, 2015, St. Raphael Resort, Limassol, Cyprus
http://cyprusconferences.org/ucc2015
*** DEADLINE: 31 July, 2015 ***
CONTEXT AND SCOPE
Cloud Computing delivers computational resources on-demand as services
that are commoditized and delivered analogous to traditional utilities such as
electricity, gas, water and telephony. Cloud service offerings for compute,
storage and communication resources as well as for hosted software and data
are growing at a tremendous rate, and it is essential to understand how to
effectively transform these services into Utilities that provide value to both
users and providers. There is also increasing interest from commercial
providers to offer business and revenue models around the services they
offer. Understanding how these models could be used to provide utility for
users, intermediary brokers (aggregators) and providers is also an area of
active research. UCC is the premier IEEE/ACM conference covering all areas
related to Cloud Computing as a Utility and provides an international forum
for leading researchers and practitioners in this important and growing field.
UCC 2015, to be held in Cyprus, will happen as Cloud providers worldwide
add new services and increase Cloud utility at an accelerated pace, and Cloud
service users explore new usage modes.
This will be the 8th UCC in a successful conference series. Previous events
were held in Shanghai, China (Cloud 2009), Melbourne, Australia (Cloud 2010
& UCC 2011), Chennai, India (UCC 2010), Chicago, USA (UCC 2012), Dresden,

Information Systems Education Conference
ISECON 2015
November 5-7, 2015
Orlando, Florida
Paper submission deadline:
July 31, 2015 (to be considered for proceedings)
Abstracts of 500 - 1,000 words are welcome and will be included in the proceedings!
Dear Colleague,
Please consider submitting a paper or abstract to ISECON 2015 this year. The ISECON conference
has provided a wonderful opportunity for CIS, MIS, IT, and CS faculty members from a wide variety
of institutions – including international attendees – to gather, share experiences, and learn from
each other since 1982. We continue that legacy of delivering a collegial environment for
intellectual and professional growth this year in sunny Orlando, Florida, at the
“B Resort and Spa”, an official Walt Disney World property.
More information about the conference, including the Call for Papers and the online
paper submission facility, can be found at:
http://www.isecon.org<http://www.isecon.org/>
The conference theme for 2015 is “Billions and Trillions: Devices, Data, and Demand for Information Systems in a Connected World”.
It's clear that the pace of growth of the globally-connected marketplace — now filled with
billions of smartphone-slinging, tablet-toting, and laptop-lugging business professionals, consumers,
and students generating and consuming trillions of bytes of data every day — will only accelerate the
demand for skilled information systems professionals. How will our traditional courses of instruction
change to meet this evolving reality? What techniques will bolster faculty success in IS courses as we
prepare the IS workforce for the challenges they are likely to face in 2025? What are some of the
significant IS operations-related questions that will confront IS professionals in 2025? These and
other compelling questions are open for discussion at ISECON 2015!
Papers, abstracts, panel sessions, and tutorial/workshop proposals are invited on the following topics
and other issues related to expected changes in IS education between now and 2025:
* Mobile Applications
* HTML5 and Web Application Development
* Cloud-based Systems
* Scalable Architectures
* Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
* Data Warehouse Systems
* Big Data and Analytical Systems
* NoSQL and Other Emerging Database Technologies
* Classical and In-Memory Database Systems
* Networking Concepts
* Agile Development
* Online Learning
* Teaching Tools
* IS Cases and Case-Based Teaching
* Effective Pedagogy for IS Education
* Research in Progress
* Student Papers
* On-Demand Training, Education, and Learning
* Accreditation, Assessment, and Curriculum for IS Education
* Ethics, Privacy, and Intellectual Property in a Connected World
* Globalization and Information Systems
* Intelligent Systems

Each year, ISECON benefits from the involvement of a number of repeat attendees as well as
new participants. We encourage you to please share the news about this year’s conference
with anyone you know who might be interested in this long-standing and welcoming academic
conference, especially given this year’s great location!
Thanks and hope to see you in Orlando,
Brian Reithel
