Author Notification: August 1, 2014
Camera Ready and Registration: August 21, 2014
------------------------------------------
Dear Gustaf Neumann,
The 6th International Joint Conference on Knowledge Discovery, Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management – IC3K 2014 (http://www.ic3k.org/) will hold a Doctoral Consortium on Knowledge Discovery, Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management providing an opportunity for graduate students to explore their research interests in an interdisciplinary workshop, under the guidance of a panel of distinguished experts in the field.
The Doctoral Consortium will provide students with an opportunity to:
- Present their research work in a relaxed and supportive environment;
- Receive feedback and suggestions from peers and experienced faculty;
- Gain an overview of the breadth and depth of enterprise information Systems;
- Obtain insight into directions for enterprise information systems research taken by other doctoral candidates;
- Discuss concerns about research, supervision, the job market, and other issues;
- Network with peers and future colleagues
The paper that a PhD student can submit until July 21 needs to be written in a specific format, appropriate for facilitating the aforementioned discussion, therefore it is expected to be a much simpler paper and definitely not a regular paper.
There will be a review and selection process and the accepted papers will be included in the CD-ROM that also includes the proceedings of the conference. Additionally, the papers of the Doctoral Consortium presented at the venue will also be included in the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. However, they will not be included in the book of proceedings as archival publications therefore they will remain free of copyright and the registration will be a "student registration".
Should you have any question or suggestions please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Andreia Pereira

Overview
-----------------------------------------------------------
Smart communities are at the heart of social innovation. Based on
networks of people and knowledge, these communities are able to foster
the development of a collective intelligence. Through interaction, this
may produce more adequate decision making and improvement of all kinds
of processes – working, learning, policy definition, etc.
Smart communities analysis and benchmarking is of paramount importance
for gathering information, in order to investigate about their evolution
and for producing models of the social interaction, knowledge building
and learning which occur in it; the latter in return form the basis of
collective intelligence.
Natural language processing techniques, social networks analysis and
other analytics tools concur to outline a comprehensive toolkit aimed at
capturing the multiple facets of social interaction and of learning
processes that take place within smart communities and can be used also
to provide in-depth understanding of fundamental notions such as:
identity, privacy, relationships, culture, knowledge building,
reputation, motivations, responsibility, attention, safety and fairness
that constitute the ground values of societies.
In this context, our aim consists of stimulating inter-disciplinary
contributions in the domains of informatics (focusing on adaptive and
collaborative technologies), sociology, educational sciences, cognitive
psychology, etc. to get a deeper insight of smart communities.

Introduction
=============
Data driven scientific discovery approach has already been agreed to be
an important emerging paradigm for computing in areas including social,
service, Internet of Things (or sensor networks), and cloud. Under this
paradigm, Big Data is the core that drives new researches in many areas,
from environmental to social. There are many new scientific challenges
when facing this big data phenomenon, ranging from capture, creation,
storage, search, sharing, analysis, and visualization. The complication
here is not just the storage, I/O, query, and performance, but also the
integration across heterogeneous, interdependent complex data resources
for real-time decision-making, collaboration, and ultimately value
co-creation. Data sciences encompass the larger areas of data analytics,
machine learning and managing big data. Data analytics has become
essential to glean some understanding from large data sets and convert
data into actionable intelligence. With the rapid growth in the volumes
of data available to enterprises, Government and on the web, automated
techniques for analyzing the data have become essential.
The 2014 IEEE International Conference on Data Science and Advanced
Analytics (DSAA'2014) aims to provide a premier forum that brings
together researchers, industry practitioners, as well as potential users
of big data and advanced analytics, to promote collaborations and
exchange of ideas and practices, discuss new opportunities, and
investigate the best actionable analytics framework for wide range of
applications. The conference solicits experimental and theoretical works
on data science and advanced analytics along with their application to

* IMPORTANT DATES
Fast Abstract Submission: August 25th, 2014
Notification: September 10th, 2014
Camera Ready: September 17th, 2014
A Fast Abstract is a lightly-reviewed, two-page technical
article that requires a short talk at the conference. The
goal is to promote current work, research, practices,
opinions, experiences, and issues. This is an early
communication of technical work and does not always require
completed results like that of a journal publication.
Authors can introduce new ideas to the community or state
positions on controversial issues. Fast Abstracts are an
integral and important part of ISSRE. Accepted contributions
will be published in the Supplemental Proceedings of the
25th IEEE International Symposium on Software Reliability
Engineering. Authors will present a short talk at the
symposium. Fast Abstracts sessions have been among the most
attended in past ISSRE editions, with contributors as diverse
as young students and distinguished members of the community.
* SCOPE
Authors should explain the contribution to the field and
novelty of their work, making clear its current status. Topics
of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Analysis and prevention of virus attacks
- Dependable Web services
- Electronic commerce reliability
- Empirical studies and metrics
- Fault-tolerant and robust software
- Formal reliability assurance methods
- Internet reliability engineering
- Network system reliability and security
- Reliability and performance of mobile systems
- Reliability measurement
- Reliable adaptive and autonomous systems
- Reliable model-driven engineering
- QoS of distributed systems
- Secure software engineering
- Software aging and rejuvenation
- Software architecture reliability
- Software reliability models
- Software safety analysis
- Software test effectiveness
- Software testing and verification
- Survivability of large systems
- Testable model-driven engineering
- Tools and automation
* REVIEW AND EVALUATION CRITERIA
Each submission will be lightly reviewed by two to three
members of the Fast Abstract Program Committee, and final
decisions will be made about which submissions to accept for
presentation at the conference. Submissions will be evaluated
based on their technical merit, relevance, and significance.
* SUBMISSION
Your submission must conform to the IEEE Format and Submission
Guidelines and should not exceed two pages (including all
text, figures, references and appendices). The results
described must be unpublished and should not be under review
elsewhere. Each accepted submission will be allotted a
maximum of two pages in the final proceedings and must be
presented by one of the authors. The final version of
accepted papers must conform to the IEEE Format and
Submission Guidelines.

Workshops will be held together with the main conference during the same
dates and venue. We invite you to submit workshop proposals on any topics
related to Social Computing and Networking to the Workshop Chairs. The
purpose of these workshops is to offer to researchers a good opportunity to
present their work in a more focused way than the conference itself and to
obtain feedback from an interested community.
Â
Workshops that focus on new and emerging topics, or on applications and
industry contributions are particularly encouraged. In general, a workshop
takes one day or half day while multiple-day workshops are welcome.
A workshop proposal should contain at least:
·  Title of workshop: International workshop on ...
·  Workshop chairs/organisers: Names, Affiliations, address, e-mail,
·  Brief description of the workshop (several hundred words)
·  The workshop deadlines and website
·  Prior history of this workshop, if any.
Important dates:
Workshop proposal Deadline: 20 June 2014

Each workshop will start to distribute a call for paper after receiving the
notification. Papers submitted to each workshop will be reviewed by the
program committee and external reviewers of the workshop.
Once accepted, each workshop organisers are in charge of:
·  Setting up a Web site for the workshop according to the template
that will be distributed.
·  Establishing own paper submission system.
·  Deciding own submission deadlines, but following the same
camera-ready deadline and registration deadline as the main conference.
·  Ensuring that each paper selected for inclusion in the proceedings
will
be registered for main conference at the same registration rates. Each
paper must be presented in person by the author, or one of the authors.
Proceedings of the workshops will be published by IEEE Computer Society
Press, in the same proceedings of main conference, and will be made
available to all conference registrants on site. All workshop papers will
also be electronically available through IEEE Xplore Digital Database, and
professionally indexed through INSPEC and EI Index.
Please organize your workshop as early as possible to ensure your effort
turn out to be fruitful. In particular we suggest to make explicit the
different focus of your workshop, if compared with eventual overlapping
conference topics, in order to attract relevant contributions.
For further information on preparing a workshop proposal, please contact
the Workshops Chairs.

Doctoral Consortium on Software Technologies
http://www.icsoft.org/DoctoralConsortium.aspx
August 29 - 31, 2014
Vienna, Austria
Doctoral Consortium Chair:
Leszek Maciaszek, Wroclaw University of Economics, Poland and Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia
Important Deadlines:
Doctoral Consortium Submission: June 25, 2014
Author Notification: July 8, 2014
Camera Ready and Registration: July 18, 2014
------------------------------------------
Dear Gustaf Neumann,
The 9th International Joint Conference on Software Technologies - ICSOFT 2014 (http://www.icsoft.org) will hold a Doctoral Consortium on Software Technologies providing an opportunity for graduate students to explore their research interests in an interdisciplinary workshop, under the guidance of a panel of distinguished experts in the field.
The Doctoral Consortium on Software Technologies is intended to bring together Ph.D. students within the software technologies field to discuss their research in an international forum. The Doctoral Consortium will provide students with an opportunity to:
- Present their research work in a relaxed and supportive environment;
- Receive feedback and suggestions from peers and experienced faculty;
- Gain an overview of the breadth and depth of Software Technologies;
- Obtain insight into directions for software technologies research taken by other doctoral candidates;
- Discuss concerns about research, supervision, the job market, and other issues;
- Network with peers and future colleagues
The paper that a PhD student can submit until June 25 needs to be written in a specific format, appropriate for facilitating the aforementioned discussion; therefore it is expected to be a much simpler paper and definitely not a regular paper.
Kind regards,
Marina Carvalho
