The proceedings of the symposium will be published by ACM
========================================================================
Scope
=====
Increasingly, computer systems are composed of many interacting
components which, due to issues of scale or separation, cannot be
centrally controlled; instead, it is desirable that these components
cooperate in order to harness resources or solve distributed problems,
across heterogeneous and dynamic environments.
Examples of cooperative systems include cloud computing, sensor networks
and the Internet of Things. Cooperative systems comprise entities which
interact with each other and their environment, providing services in
order to help achieve specific goals. They are characterised by their
underlying network architecture, their level of distribution, their mode
of interaction and the degree of autonomy of the entities. Common
approaches include client-server architectures, P2P systems, multi-agent
systems (MAS), self-organising systems and social networks.
Additionally, cooperation may be assumed a priori, or induced in
autonomous agents by self-interest.
Key challenges for cooperative systems include how to design and
implement entities and interaction models in order to achieve system
goals effectively, robustly and efficiently, within environmental
constraints. Adaptation, self-management, expressive knowledge
representation and flexible architectures and interaction mechanisms are
key enablers.
Topics of Interest
==================
The aim of this track is to provide a forum for the presentation of
original research on the design and deployment of cooperative systems
from academia and industry. The track seeks contributions on cooperative
behaviour and cooperative systems related but not limited to the
following topics:
* Architectures for cooperative systems
* Efficient adaptation and self-adaptation of cooperative systems
* Context-awareness and self-awareness in cooperative systems
* Managing the relationship between local, shared and global goals
* Resource management and brokering in cooperative systems
* Ontologies and knowledge representation in cooperative systems
* Autonomous and emergent behaviour in cooperative systems
* Arbitration, argumentation and negotiation in cooperative systems
* Self-management and self-configuration of cooperative systems
* Security, trust and reputation in cooperative systems
* Mediation and conflict management in cooperative systems
* Policy management in cooperative systems
* Cooperative systems for service provision and management
* Cooperative systems for resource management
* Cooperation in ubiquitous and pervasive environments
* Cooperation in social and P2P community systems

Betreff: [AISWorld] Last call: SDSW @ ISWC 2014
Datum: Thu, 26 Jun 2014 10:42:24 +0100
Von: Paulo Rupino Cunha <rupino(a)dei.uc.pt>
An: ISWorld list <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Dear colleagues,
This is the last call for papers for the workshop on Surfacing the Deep and the Social Web (SDSW) at the renowned International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC), that will take place in October 2014, in Riva del Guarda, Trentino, Italy - see http://iswc2014.semanticweb.org
--> We plan to publish the proceedings with CEUR-WS.org.
--> The two best papers will be nominated for publishing an extended version in the Journal of Data Semantics.
Important Dates
- Paper submissions until: July 7, 2014
- Author notifications: July 30, 2014
- Camera-ready proceedings: August 20, 2014
The simplicity with which users can publish content nowadays has made the Web the world’s largest database. Keyword-based search has become the de-facto standard for information discovery in this ocean of data, mainly due to its simplicity that makes it attractive to technically novice users. To answer keyword queries, existing search engines rely on effective indexes of the content that allow them to return the documents that best match the user’s search criteria. This generally leaves out the structure of the data, its semantic dimension, as well as the social aspects to which it may relate. We believe that, in order to exploit the full potential of the Web, structured and rich data will have to receive the same search and retrieve capabilities as the text data from Web documents. However, due to their highly structured nature, the rich semantics, and the data structures by which they are typically managed, a great deal of issues needs to be studied. As the problem is in general of a multifaceted nature, it requires synergies from many different disciplines.
Broad areas of interest for papers submitted to he workshop include, but are not limited to:
- Semantic web, semantic similarity, semantic data management, semantic disambiguation, semantic indexing;
- Social Web and social media;
- Interface design, user interaction, natural language processing;
- Data cleansing, data fusion, data quality, data integration, probabilistic data matching;
- Benchmarking, ranking;
- Artificial intelligence, machine learning;
- Metadata management, schema matching;
- Deep Web, provenance, information retrieval, database summarization
- Context-aware web applications;
- Knowledge / ontology self-management and evolution;
- Semantic Web and emotional intelligence;
- Enabling everything-as-a-user.
More information can be found at the workshop website at http://sdsw-at-iswc2014.ipn.pt (or at http://www.keystone-cost.eu/sdsw2014/ )
This workshop will also be a good opportunity to engage in fruitful networking with members of the COST Action KEYSTONE (http://www.keystone-cost.eu), which is dedicated to launching and establishing a cooperative network of researchers, practitioners, and application domain specialists working in fields related to semantic data management, the Semantic Web, information retrieval, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing, that coordinates collaboration among them to enable research activity and technology transfer in the area of keyword-based search over structured data sources.
You can also join the COST KEYSTONE network if you feel your research interests are aligned.
Looking forward to receiving your paper submissions.

1^st CALL FOR PAPERS
SPECIAL ISSUE: ECONOMICS AND VALUE OF IS
BUSINESS & INFORMATION SYSTEMS ENGINEERING (BISE)
Submission Deadline: 2014-11-01
http://www.bise-journal.com/?p=891
**********************************************
A major part of our current economy is based on the value creation
through Information Systems (IS) that enable the creation, exchange, and
processing of large amounts of information. This results in new business
models such as the upcoming sharing economy and opportunities for firms
such as product customization, analyzing consumer-produced content, or
marketing through social networks. However, the details on how such new
business models and opportunities affect organizations, industries,
economies and societies in the long run still have to be investigated.
The special issue on economics and value of IS considers various issues
related to IS and IT including economics of information goods,
platforms, cloud computing, mobile services, as well as the impact of
IT-driven business models on existing organizations, industries,
economies, and societies.
The common element across all papers is that they are expected to make
an original contribution to the theory or practice of creating, adopting
or using information technology. This may come from examining new
phenomena, applying a new theoretical perspective, or by gathering new
data. Authors should focus on articulating their unique contribution,
linking it both to the body of their study and contrasting it to the
characterization from prior research.
This special issue invites theoretical and empirical submissions that
comprise -- but are not restricted to -- topics like:
Economics of information and communication goods (pricing, bundling,
policies, ...)
Business models for information goods
Economics of service networks
Internet Economics
Adoption of Cloud Computing
Matching in electronic markets -- issues of efficiency and mechanism design
Economics of mobile services
Decision-making in electronic markets
Network effects of IS
Economics of IT infrastructures
Business Value of IT projects and programs
IT, productivity and organizational complements
Online auctions -- issues of trust, simultaneity and competing auctions
Platform competition, standards and multi-sided networks
Predictive modeling in economics of IS
Economics of the sharing industry
Submission Guidelines
Authors are asked to submit their papers online under the category
"BISE-Econ and Value of IS" by 2014-11-01 via the journal's submission
system Editorial Manager (http://www.editorialmanager.com/buis/). All
papers must follow the typing and formatting instructions for
WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK/BUSSINESS & INFORMATION SYSTEMS ENGINEERING (BISE)
available at http://www.bise-journal.org. In particular, manuscripts
should not exceed 50,000 characters (discounting 5,000 characters for
each figure/table). Detailed authors' guidelines can be downloaded from
http://www.bise-journal.org.
Submissions are accepted in English only. All papers will be reviewed
anonymously (double-blind process) by several referees with regard to
relevance, originality, and research quality. In addition to the editors
of the journal, including those of this special focus, distinguished
national and international professionals with scientific and practical
backgrounds will be involved in the review process.

With the advent of ultrascale computing systems, envisioned as large
scale complex systems joining parallel and distributed computing systems
that will be two to three orders of magnitude larger that today’s
systems, clouds will play a major role as an integration and support
platform to provide every kind of virtual computing environment (HPC,
HTC, data centers, etc.). However, as the scale grows, it is more and
more difficult to provide efficient and sustainable solutions. To cope
with this problem, the research in large scale cloud computing is
addressing a large variety of challenges related to sustainable
scalability such as economy-of-scale, agile elastic scalability, energy
efficiency, scalable storage, computing accelerators, automatic
management of resources, resilience, hybrid clouds, etc.
This special session is focused on novel contributions towards
increasing the sustain- ability of ultrascale cloud computing systems
with a holistic approach. Papers submitted should provide new techniques
toward sustainable cloud computing systems, including better
programmability of applications and system software stack, sustainable
data manage- ment, energy efficiency, system resilience, and deployment
in distributed ultrascale cloud platforms.
*Topics:*
• Development, evaluation, and optimization of sustainable cloud
architectures.
