Call for Papers
IEEE Transactions on Services Computing
SPECIAL ISSUE "PROCESSES MEET BIG DATA"
Website: <http://bit.ly/TV0hlO> CFP in PDF: <http://bit.ly/XyMGxz>
======================================================================
*AIMS AND SCOPE*
The aim of process mining is to discover, monitor and improve business
processes by extracting knowledge from event logs readily available in
today’s information systems. When large-scale processes are executed,
e.g., on (cloud-based) service-oriented environments, process logs
increasingly exhibit all typical properties of “big data”: wide physical
distribution, diversity of formats, non-standard data models,
heterogeneous semantics. Computing metrics over such “big logs” also
requires to handle security and privacy concerns of many participants,
and even to deal with non-uniform trustworthiness of log entries. New
techniques are therefore required for designing, validating and
deploying process metrics in this scenario, as well as for effectively
dash-boarding the processes’ performance indicators.
This special issue of IEEE Transaction on Service-Oriented Computing is
intended to create an international forum for presenting innovative
developments of process monitoring and analysis over service-oriented
architectures, aimed at handling “big logs” and use them effectively for
discovery, dash-boarding and mining. The ultimate objective is to
identify the promising research avenues, report the main results and
promote the visibility and relevance of this new area.
The special issue is related to two Dagstuhl Seminars happening in 2013:
- Unleashing Operational Process Mining
<http://www.dagstuhl.de/en/program/calendar/semhp/?semnr=13481>
- Verifiably Secure Process-Aware Information Systems
<http://www.dagstuhl.de/en/programm/kalender/semhp/?semnr=13341>

Betreff: [AISWorld] The Dark Side of Social Networking: CfP for AMCIS
2014 Mini-track

CfP The Dark Side of Social Networking
We invite authors to submit to this mini-track at the Americas
Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2014).
Mini-track: The Dark Side of Social Networking — Social and Ethical
Issues
Track: Social-Technical Issues and Social Inclusion Track (SIGSI)
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Addiction and compulsive use
- Cyber bullying, stalking, and harassment
- Cybersmearing, cyberslacking and cyberloafing
- Risk to privacy and confidentiality
- Violations of intellectual property right
- Fraud and deception on social networking sites
- Information overload caused by social networking sites
- Negative impact of social networking on relationships
- Addiction to games on social networking sites, such as Facebook games
- Personality and mental health issues, such as social anxiety, and
their relationship to social networking site usage
- Social network surveillance and censorship
- Ethical issues in social network analysis and mining
Mini track description:
Recent years have witnessed a proliferation of online social networking
sites that “allow individuals to (1) construct public or semi-public
profiles within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users
within whom they share a connection, and (3) view and traverse their
list of connections and those made by others within their system” (Boyd
and Ellison, 2008).
By facilitating the establishment and maintenance of social relations as
well as the sharing of interests and activities within individual
networks, social networking sites (such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn,
Pinterest, YouTube, and Google+) have become increasingly integrated in
our modern culture, changing the way we work, study, play and socialize,
and how we spend our time and money.
Notwithstanding the many personal, educational, and work benefits
offered by online social networking sites, their use raises a variety of
social and ethical concerns (e.g., privacy and security threats,
cyber-bullying, addiction, deception, censorship and surveillance).
The objective of this mini-track is to develop theoretical insight and
understanding on topics and issues that address the troubling or dark
side of online social networks. We welcome conceptual, theoretical, and
empirical papers that enrich our understanding of the social and ethical
issues of online social networks. All methodological approaches are
welcome.

Mini-Track "Organizational Learning through Process Modelling"
Track: "End-User Information Systems, Innovation, and Organizational Change
(SIGOSRA)"
20th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS)

Mini-Track / Track website:
http://amcis2014.aisnet.org/index.php/track-list/77-amcis-2014/92
For understanding and improving work practices, organizations frequently
rely on process models. Process discovery activities, for instance, help to
understand the operation of business processes. Process-oriented methods
(e.g., TQM, Lean Management, or Six Sigma) are widely adopted to
continuously improve the operations of organizations. In this context,
process models can serve as boundary objects between different intra- and
inter-organizational communities of practice that facilitate organizational
learning. However, many organizations also face problems with their process
documentations, e.g., due to a model-reality divide or the reluctance of
employees against process redesigns. New methods and tools can help
organizations with the management of process-related knowledge and learning.
Increasing involvement of employees and improved analytical approaches that
disclose how processes are really performed can help in achieving more
sustainable business processes. Research on how organizations manage
process-related knowledge and learning is subject of this mini-track. We
encourage papers applying a wide variety of methodologies, including
quantitative and qualitative, empirical and theoretical research such as

Mini-Track "Organizational Learning through Process Modelling"
Track: "End-User Information Systems, Innovation, and Organizational
Change (SIGOSRA)"
20th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS)
August 7-10, 2014, Savannah, Georgia, USA
Mini-Track / Track website:
http://amcis2014.aisnet.org/index.php/track-list/77-amcis-2014/92
For understanding and improving work practices, organizations frequently
rely on process models. Process discovery activities, for instance, help
to understand the operation of business processes. Process-oriented
methods (e.g., TQM, Lean Management, or Six Sigma) are widely adopted to
continuously improve the operations of organizations. In this context,
process models can serve as boundary objects between different intra-
and inter-organizational communities of practice that facilitate
organizational learning. However, many organizations also face problems
with their process documentations, e.g., due to a model-reality divide
or the reluctance of employees against process redesigns. New methods
and tools can help organizations with the management of process-related
knowledge and learning. Increasing involvement of employees and improved
analytical approaches that disclose how processes are really performed
can help in achieving more sustainable business processes. Research on
how organizations manage process-related knowledge and learning is
subject of this mini-track. We encourage papers applying a wide variety
of methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative, empirical and
theoretical research such as case studies, action research, surveys,
experiments, and design science.

The goal of this track is to bring together researchers and practitioners
both from the Academia and from the Industry working in the areas of
Service-oriented and component-based software applications and
architectures and addressing adaptation and reconfiguration issues.
Different investigation topics are involved, such as: CBSE, SOA, Functional
and Non Functional (NF) requirements (QoS, performance, resilience),
monitoring, diagnosis, decision and execution of adaptation and
reconfiguration. Different research axes are covered: concepts, methods,
techniques, and tools to design, develop, deploy and manage adaptive and
reconfigurable software systems.
The development of composite services poses very interesting challenges
concerning their functional and NF requirements. On the one hand, a
composite software system depends on the NF requirements of its
constituting components in order to provide a satisfactory service to the
user. On the other hand, the main issues for the fulfillment of QoS and
service level agreements (SLA) are concerned with performance variability.
Indeed, the QoS may evolve frequently, either because of internal changes
or because of workload fluctuations. The performance and the robustness of
the composite software system may be significantly improved by monitoring
the execution of the components and by flexibly reacting to degradation and
anomalies in a timely fashion.
The concept of adaptive and reconfigurable software systems has been
introduced in order to describe architectures which exhibit such
properties. An adaptive and reconfigurable software system can repair
itself if any execution problems occur, in order to successfully complete
its own execution, while respecting functional and NF agreements. In the
design of an adaptive and reconfigurable software system, several aspects
have to be considered. For instance, the system should be able to predict
or to detect degradations and failures as soon as possible and to enact
suitable recovery actions. Moreover, different NF requirements service
levels might be considered in order to complete the execution in case of
failure.
TOPICS
For this track, contributions are devoted to functional and non functional
adaptability and reconfiguration management in service-oriented and
component-based software systems. Specifically, the relevant topics
include, but are not limited to:
- Distributed and centralized collaborative solutions for the diagnosis and
repair of software systems
- Design for the diagnosability and repairability
- Collaborative Management of NF requirements (quality, security,
robustness, availability)
- Monitoring simple and composite architectures, components and services
- Semantic (or analytic) architectural and behavioral models for monitoring
of software systems
- Dynamic reconfiguration of CB and SO architectures
- Collaborative planning and decision making
- Collaborative technologies for ensuring autonomic properties
- Predictive management of adaptability.
- Collaborative Management of autonomic properties
- Experiences in practical adaptive and reconfigurable CB and SO
applications
- Tools and prototypes for managing adaptability of CB and SO applications

To succeed in transforming healthcare, many countries will need to
move to more targeted healthcare. Successful migration must encourage
innovation, provide access to more complete patient information and
incorporate advanced clinical knowledge into clinical decision-making.
Aiming at successfully transforming healthcare, some interdependent
challenges need to be overcome, such as prevalence of tightly coupled
applications and data; inadequate data and knowledge standards;
insufficient analytics capabilities; unsatisfactory security and
privacy methodologies; absence of a clinical decision-making foundation.
Knowledge discovery and data mining techniques, especially data
analytics, have been proven holding much promise for solving these
problems. Providers can use health care data analytics to learn about
patient populations, enhance preventive care and drive business
decisions by accessing key data such as demographics and chronic
conditions. Therefore, nowadays the healthcare industry requires a much
more open, robust health information technology environment than ever
existed, especially the techniques and methodologies in knowledge
discovery and data mining.
Targeting on these interesting questions, following the success of the
first edition (DANTH 2013) the second, DANTH 2013 workshop focuses on how
data analytics can improve information management in healthcare. The
workshop will bring together researchers from different countries and
regions to foster dissemination, increase the share of knowledge cross
different domains, and strengthen the research on data analytic
techniques and related applications to healthcare problems.
