CALL FOR PAPERS
20th Americas Conference on Information Systems
Savannah, Georgia, August 07-10, 2014
(http://amcis2014.aisnet.org/index.php/track-list/77-amcis-2014/88)
AMCIS 2014 Track on Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Knowledge
Management (SIGDSS)
Mini-Track: Predictive Analytics: Definition, Implementation, and Usage
************************************************* *
*Description*
The term Predictive Analytics stems from the field of Business
Intelligence. Business Intelligence is concerned with the support of
decision-making. Decisions are by nature future oriented (past and
presence cannot be influenced anymore). In any case of uncertainty about
the future, forecasts are necessary to provide a decision support.
Predictive Analytics is a form of data analysis to gather information
and apply methods to predict future developments. Therefore, Predictive
Analytics can be regarded as a conceptual part of Business Intelligence.
But still there is a discussion whether the term is just a vogue
expression or whether it can differentiate itself from existing fields
like data mining or knowledge discovery. It is perceptible that a couple
of publications focus mainly on empirical evaluation. Of course, such a
development is comparable to other academic fields like Knowledge
Discovery in Databases which emerged from a practical side as well. To
establish it as a field of research, more theoretical background is
needed and models need to be provided which describe the process of
prediction and the usage of the different methods like simulation or
Data Mining. The aim of the minitrack is to address aspects of academic
background and practical ones as well. With a critical perspective all
aspects of the described field need to be regarded to support an
academic perception of the research field.
**
*Topics are (but not limited to):*
·Definition and theoretical background of predictive analytics
·Methods of Predictive Analytics
·Data Mining, Knowledge Discovery in Databases, Simulation, System dynamics
·Decision support in uncertainty
·Applications of prediction
·Measurement and metrics of prediction quality
·Artificial Intelligence
·Algorithms like support vector machines, artificial neural networks

Minitrack Description
==================
Research into knowledge management (KM), organizational memories, and
organizational learning has been affected by investigations such as
implementation aspects, system developments, or knowledge flows during a
number of years. Therefore, a high maturity level of KM research has
been achieved. However, organizational KM initiatives are more and more
faced with budget cuts and justification demands due to intense
competition in today’s business environments. The influences of the
rapid pace of globalization and of the ongoing liberalization of
national and international markets lead to the emergence of increased
pressure on existing companies. Project managers of KM initiatives like
Chief Knowledge Officers need to justify their budgets and thus are in
need of qualitative and quantitative evidence of the initiatives’
success. In addition, ROI calculations and traditional accounting
approaches do not tell an adequate story when proposing knowledge-based
initiatives. This minitrack explores research into strategies,
methodologies, and stories that relate to measure this success. In
addition, this minitrack will be used to explore the bodies of
performance measurements that define the current state of research in
measuring KM, organizational memory, and organizational learning
success. Eventually, another purpose of this minitrack is to present
research on how to value knowledge-based initiatives.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
=======================================
* Frameworks and models for assessing knowledge management and/or
organizational memory systems
* Methodologies and processes for measuring knowledge management and/or
organizational memory success and performance
* Impact of knowledge management strategy, organization, systems,
culture, and other issues on knowledge management/organizational memory
success
* Organizational effectiveness/efficiency due to knowledge
management/organizational memory/organizational learning, knowledge and
organizational memory use
* Knowledge management, organizational memory, and organizational
learning metrics
* Knowledge management, organizational memory, and organizational
learning success factors and key performance indicators
* Benchmarking of knowledge management/organizational memory initiatives
* Case studies of knowledge management and organizational memory success
and performance measurements
* Measuring knowledge management and/or organizational memory
performance in global organizations and globally dispersed communities
* Effectiveness and/or efficiency of knowledge management/organizational
memory systems
* Modeling and measuring the impact of social software on knowledge
management performance
* Defining knowledge management and organizational memory success
* Rigorous anecdotes and user stories and their theoretical basis to
facilitate the value of knowledge-based initiatives
* Developing grounded theory approaches to valuing knowledge-based
initiatives
We welcome original research papers regardless of decision domain,
decision process, or research methodology. Since related problems have
been studied in numerous problem domains and diverse scientific
disciplines, we encourage authors to explore this rich literature and
benefit from it.

Dear colleagues,
we would like to draw your attention to a call for papers for the Business & Information Systems (BISE) special issue on "CSCW & Social Computing“, which can be found below. BISE (the International Journal of WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK) has been a leading journal in information systems for 55 years (impact factor 2012: 1.2). We cordially invite original research contributions for this special issue until July 1, 2014.
3/2015 CSCW & Social Computing
Call-for-Papers
1 Special issue
----------------------
Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) has traditionally studied the interdependencies between collaborating human actors and computer systems. New CSCW systems enable completely new divisions of labor between collaborating actors and computer systems in an organizational setting. Particular examples are crowdsourcing, open innovation or the inclusion of external experts in internal processes. This has important implications for organizational structures, management and motivation.
Social Computing refers to supporting social interaction and socialization by the use of IT systems. Within that context the term Social Software is used for tools or services that ìsupport, extend or derive added value from human social behaviorî. While both terms ìSocial Computingî and ìSocial Softwareî have only become relatively popular within the last ten years, the core ideas behind them have a much longer history, going back to Vannevar Bushís ideas about the Memex in 1945.
In this special issue on "CSCW & Social Computing" we would like to focus on research that studies new human-human work and networking patterns as well as new configurations of humans and computers. Submissions should address challenges in the development, introduction and evaluation of information systems to support collaboration in teams, communities, crowds and social networks in and around organizations. Since supporting human work by information systems requires both an adequate understanding of technological developments and of work practices submissions can and should cover organizational, social and technical issues.
In the context of this focus we are asking for submissions from research and practice, e.g. on the following topics:
* Creating Value with Crowdsourcing
* Optimizing core organizational processes with CSCW
* From vision to action:† Collaborative Innovation Processes
* Future Trends for Collaboration Systems
* Vertical specialization of Collaboration Systems
* Big Data and Collaboration
* Organizational uses for social media
* Social Collaboration in the Digital workplace
* Enterprise Social Networks
* Ubiquitous Collaboration
* Collaboration Systems for Managing Complexity
* Collaboration and the Customer Experience
* Observed Collaboration Phenomena and Theories to Explain Them
2 Submission Guidelines
---------------------------------
Authors are asked to submit their papers online under the category ìBISE-CSCW and Social Computingî by 2014-07-01 via the journalís submission system Editorial Manager (http://www.editorialmanager.com/buis/). All papers must follow the typing and formatting instructions for WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK/BUSSINESS & INFORMATION SYSTEMS ENGINEERING (BISE) available at http://www.bise-journal.org. In particular, manuscripts should not exceed 50,000 characters (discounting 5,000 characters for each figure/table). Detailed authorsí guidelines can be downloaded from http://www.bise-journal.org.
Submissions are accepted in English only. All papers will be reviewed anonymously (double-blind process) by several referees with regard to relevance, originality, and research quality. In addition to the editors of the journal, including those of this special focus, distinguished national and international professionals with scientific and practical backgrounds will be involved in the review process.

Minitrack Description
==================
Research into knowledge management (KM), organizational memories, and
organizational learning has been affected by investigations such as
implementation aspects, system developments, or knowledge flows during a
number of years. Therefore, a high maturity level of KM research has
been achieved. However, organizational KM initiatives are more and more
faced with budget cuts and justification demands due to intense
competition in today's business environments. The influences of the
rapid pace of globalization and of the ongoing liberalization of
national and international markets lead to the emergence of increased
pressure on existing companies. Project managers of KM initiatives like
Chief Knowledge Officers need to justify their budgets and thus are in
need of qualitative and quantitative evidence of the initiatives'
success. In addition, ROI calculations and traditional accounting
approaches do not tell an adequate story when proposing knowledge-based
initiatives. This minitrack explores research into strategies,
methodologies, and stories that relate to measure this success. In
addition, this minitrack will be used to explore the bodies of
performance measurements that define the current state of research in
measuring KM, organizational memory, and organizational learning
success. Eventually, another purpose of this minitrack is to present
research on how to value knowledge-based initiatives.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
=======================================
* Frameworks and models for assessing knowledge management and/or
organizational memory systems
* Methodologies and processes for measuring knowledge management and/or
organizational memory success and performance
* Impact of knowledge management strategy, organization, systems,
culture, and other issues on knowledge management/organizational memory
success
* Organizational effectiveness/efficiency due to knowledge
management/organizational memory/organizational learning, knowledge and
organizational memory use
* Knowledge management, organizational memory, and organizational
learning metrics
* Knowledge management, organizational memory, and organizational
learning success factors and key performance indicators
* Benchmarking of knowledge management/organizational memory initiatives
* Case studies of knowledge management and organizational memory success
and performance measurements
* Measuring knowledge management and/or organizational memory
performance in global organizations and globally dispersed communities
* Effectiveness and/or efficiency of knowledge management/organizational
memory systems
* Modeling and measuring the impact of social software on knowledge
management performance
* Defining knowledge management and organizational memory success
* Rigorous anecdotes and user stories and their theoretical basis to
facilitate the value of knowledge-based initiatives
* Developing grounded theory approaches to valuing knowledge-based
initiatives
We welcome original research papers regardless of decision domain,
decision process, or research methodology. Since related problems have
been studied in numerous problem domains and diverse scientific
disciplines, we encourage authors to explore this rich literature and
benefit from it.
