collaboration research and an adjunct to the successful WikiSym conference
series. WikiSym + OpenSym 2013 is the first conference to bring together the
different strands of open collaboration research, seeking to create synergies
and inspire new research between computer scientists, social scientists, legal
scholars, and everyone interested in understanding open collaboration and how
it is changing the world. Read more about the conference at
http://opensym.org/wsos2013/about
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: COMMUNITY TRACK
The following types of papers can be submitted to the community track:
* Experience report long and short: A regular presentation slot (30min) will
be provided
* Workshop proposals: A workshop slot (half-day or full-day) is provided at
the conference
* Panel proposals: A session (90min) discussion slot for the panel will be
provided

to the WikiSym + OpenSym community in general. For questions about community
track submissions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us:
http://opensym.org/wsos2013/about
Experience Reports
Experience reports are an integral part of the conference program. These are
opportunities to discuss how ideas that sound good on paper (and at
conferences!) work in real life projects and deployments. Many attendees want
to learn from people on the front lines what it is like to do things like
start a company wiki, use open collaboration tools in a classroom, or build a
political campaign around open collaboration systems.
Experience reports are not research papers; their goal is to present
experience and reflections on a particular case, and they are reviewed for
usefulness, clarity and reflection. Strong experience reports discuss both
benefits and drawbacks of the approaches used and clearly call out lessons
learned. Reports may focus on a particular aspect of technology usage and
practice, or describe broad project experiences.
Experience reports can be long (up to 10 pages) or short (up to 4 pages). A
long experience report will receive a regular 30 minute presentation slot, a
short experience report will receive a shorter presentation slot.
Workshops
Workshops provide an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to discuss
and learn about topics that require in-depth, extended engagement such as new
systems, research methods, standards, and formats.
Workshop proposals should describe what you intend to do and how your session
will meet the criteria described above. It should include a concise abstract,
proposed time frame (half-day or full-day), what you plan to do during the
workshop, and one-paragraph biographies of all organizers.
Workshop proposals will be reviewed and selected for their interest to the
community. Each accepted workshop will be provided with a meeting room for
either a half or full day. Organizers may also request technology and
materials (projector, flip pads, etc).
Panels
Panels provide an interactive forum for bringing together people with
interesting points of view to discuss compelling issues around open
collaboration. Panels involve participation from both the panelists and
audience members in a lively discussion. Proposals for panels should describe
the topics and goals and explain how the panel will be organized and how the
Wikisym + OpenSym community will benefit. It should include a concise abstract
and one-paragraph biographies of panelists and moderators. Panel submissions
will be reviewed and selected for their interest to the community. Each panel
will be given a 90-minute time slot.
Demos
No format is better suited for demonstrating the utility of new collaboration
technologies than showing and using them. Demonstrations give presenters an
opportunity to show running systems and gather feedback. Demo submissions
should provide a setup for the demo, a specific description of what you plan
to demo, what you hope to get out of demoing, and how the audience will
benefit. A short note of any special technical requirements should be included.
Demo submissions will be reviewed based on their relevance to the community.
All accepted demos will given space at a joint demo session (90 minutes)
during the conference.
Tutorials
Tutorials tutorials are half-day classes, taught by experts, designed to help
professionals rapidly come up to speed on a specific technology or
methodology. Tutorials can be lecture-oriented or participatory. Tutorial
attendees deserve the highest standard of excellence in tutorial preparation
and delivery. Tutorial presenters are typically experts in their chosen topic
and experienced speakers skilled in preparing and delivering educational
presentations. When selecting tutorials, we will consider the presenter’s
knowledge of the proposed topic and past success at teaching it.
SUBMISSION INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS
There are two submission deadlines, an early and a regular one. The early
deadline is for those who need to know early that their community track
submission has been accepted. This mostly applies to workshops that require a
program committee and their own paper submission and review process (as
opposed, for example, to walk-in workshops). Also, some may need the
additional time to raise funds and acquire a visa.
Submissions should follow the standard ACM SIG proceedings format. For advice
and templates, please see
http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates. All papers must
conform at time of submission to the formatting instructions and must not
exceed the page limits, including all text, references, appendices and
figures. All submissions must in PDF format.
All papers and proposals should be submitted electronically through EasyChair
using the following URL:
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=opensym2013community
SUBMISSION AND NOTIFICATION DEADLINES
* Early submission deadline: March 17, 2013
* Notification for early submissions: March 31, 2013
* Regular submission deadline: May 17, 2013
* Notification for regular submissions: May 31, 2013
* Camera-ready for both rounds: June 9, 2013
As long as it is May 17 somewhere on earth, your submission will be accepted.

Subject: [AISWorld] Call for Papers: "Theories in IS
Research" mini-track at HICSS 47 (2014)
Date: Tue, 26 Feb 2013 15:23:03 +1000
From: Dirk Hovorka <dhovorka(a)bond.edu.au>
To: AISWorld(a)lists.aisnet.org
Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to submit a paper to the 47th Annual Hawaii
International Conference on Systems Sciences
(HICSS)mini-track ?Theories in IS Research?. We present the
CfP of the mini-track below as well as the call for papers
for HICSS 47. Please circulate this information to
interested researchers.
*HICSS 47 (2014) Mini-track: Theories in IS Research*
*(Organizational Systems and Technology track)*
The ?Theoretical Approaches to IS Research? mini-track has a
long history at HICSS and succeeded in elevating a broad,
community-wide interest in IS theories. Recent editorial
statements, including for MIS Quarterly (May 2007), have
highlighted the need for focused attention on IS theories,
analysis of theories, and the assumptions underlying
theories. For HICSS 47 (2014), the ?Theories in IS
Research? mini-track has been refocused, restructured,
and re-titled to broaden its appeal and mission and to
continue to address these goals.
Despite the ubiquity of ?theory? in IS research, there
remain numerous lines of inquiry regarding IS theory and how
to better promote development, understanding, and use of
theory. Notably there are few frameworks and ontologies
that organize theories used in IS research or that relate IS
theories to theories in other disciplines. There is also a
need to develop a more coherent understanding of the
philosophical commitments represented in the development and
use of theories. We also seek essays and thought-papers
which promote dialog to deepen foundational thinking and
philosophical understanding of IS theory, and the differing
and competing roles of theory in research.
Toward these ends, topics of interest in this mini-track
include:
* Research on ontologies, taxonomies, frameworks, and
categorizations of constructs and variables used in IS
theories;
* The theoretical ties between IS research and research in
other disciplines;
* Trends in IS theories;
* Integration or simplification of related IS theories;
* Evaluation of the tools used in theory meta-analysis;
* Discussion of the different roles of theories used to
explain, to predict and to understand;
* Exploration of the dependencies of constructs and
variables and the boundaries of IS theories
* Meta studies of the IS field, based on theories used,
and meta studies of theories used, in IS research
* Papers that develop new theories applicable to IS research
* Papers that extend existing theories within the context
of IS research.
New this year, we hope to promote new points of view by
inviting a guest speaker to address a pioneering topic. We
also hope to host a social event among those interested in
IS theory.
This mini-track also has an associated ISWorld website
devoted to theories used in IS research
(http://istheory.byu.edu/wiki/Main_Page) ?which won the 2005
AISWorldNet Challenge Award for the best website based on
AISWorldNet user voting. We intend to uphold this high
standard and advance the website further by increasing the
synergy between mini-track outcomes and website content.

Robin Teigland,/Stockholm School of Economics/
The widespread diffusion and proliferation of social media technologies
and tools present organizations of all sizes and shapes with numerous
strategic and policy-oriented opportunities and challenges. Moreover,
such technologies and tools have fundamentally transformed how various
external and internal stakeholder relationships are influenced and
managed, how brand loyalty is built, how talent is attracted and
employment commitment is built, how innovations (products, services,
business models, processes) are created and appropriated, how knowledge
is created and shared both within and across organizational boundaries,
how funding is raised, how control is exercised, how policies are
developed and diffused, and how laws are interpreted. This special issue
invites papers that build our understanding of these phenomena.
We welcome papers from a wide range of disciplines as well as papers
based on either quantitative or qualitative approaches. Implications of
findings for theory and practice are essential and we encourage papers
that extend existing theories.
Questions addressed by papers suitable for the special issue could
include the following:
·How can our theories better account for the strategic use of social
media? What are the implications of such use to the theories of the firm?
·How have social media shaped policy and strategy making in
organizations and societies? What are the implications of such use to
theories of organizations? Of institutions?
·How are social media leveraged for innovation, including frugal innovation?
·What role does national cultural play in the strategic and policy
perspectives of social media?
·What are the challenges and risks that firms and other organizations
face in achieving strategic value from social media? How can these be
overcome?
·How do organizations build dynamic capabilities with social media?
·How do social media shape legal and policy frontiers?
To be considered for publication, papers must be submitted
electronically by November 30, 2013. In line with JSIS convention,
selected manuscripts will be sent out for blind review. Authors are
instructed to follow the Guide for Authors and submission guidelines for
the journal at the journal$B!G(Bs website,

Doctoral Consortium - ICMB 2013
June 10, 2013, Berlin, Germany (mbusiness2013.org)
****************************************************************
>>Submission Deadline: March 18, 2013<<
=======================================
Doctoral Consortium Description
===============================
Nowadays 31 million people in the world access the internet via mobile means only, and this number is expected to grow in total to 788 million until 2015. The same applies to the smart phone market, forecasts estimated an ongoing increase in shipments with 982 million units. And tablet sales are expected to grow from 60 million units in 2011 to 275 million units in 2015. These considerations are especially important not only because of the enhanced features of these devices when compared to traditional mobile phones, but also as smart phone users were proved to be far more active than non-smart phone users in the adoption and use of evolved services (such as the mobile internet).
These new technologies are drivers for a continuous service convergence across industries. Due to the fast advancement of mobile technologies and devices, communication networks are more and more being tied with any kind of services, leveraging the importance of mobile services for marketers, institutions, telecommunication, and device manufacturers. Mobile technologies and corresponding services have rapidly advanced and delivered unique value to customers, with a potentially important economic impact.
The doctoral consortium of the ICMB in Berlin will provide young researchers with the opportunity of discussing their mobile business related research with senior researchers from the ICMB community. Equally importantly, the Doctoral Consortium will allow PhD candidates to build a community with others at a similar stage of their dissertation research. The Consortium will take place June 10th, the day before the ICMB conference. Location will be the Ludwig Erhard Conference Centre. PhD candidates will present their research proposal followed by plenary discussion with senior staff and fellow PhD candidates. In addition to informal discussions over lunch and coffee, an experienced mentor will be assigned to each participant to allow intense one-to-one discussion of the proposed research.
Eligible Candidates
===================
Ph.D. students in the field of mobile business, who have developed a plan for pursuing their dissertation in the field of mobile technologies or services, and would benefit from constructive feedback from senior faculty in the field.
Prospective attendees should have written, or be close to completing, a thesis proposal (or equivalent). It is desirable that candidates are not that close to completion of their PhD thesis that the event would have little impact on their work.

Call for Papers
Special Session on the Web of Data (DATAWEB)
Production and deployment of Open, Linked and Big Data
http://dataweb.medialab.ntua.gr/
To be held in conjunction with the 17th Panhellenic Conference on Informatics (PCI 2013), September 19-21, 2013, Thessaloniki, Greece, http://pci2013.epy-mathra.gr/
Organizers:
Ioannis Anagnostopoulos, University of Central Greece, Greece
Yannis Charalabidis, University of the Aegean, Greece
Agisilaos Papantoniou, National Technical University of Athens, Greece
Michalis Vafopoulos, National Technical University of Athens, Greece
Special Session description:
The evolution of technologies now effectively supports the creation and existence of the Web of Data. However, the production and mass consumption of data have been a matter of debate over methodologies that should be employed in the technological and business domain. Data over the Web can be seen under three major perspectives. One that deals with their “openness”, one that addresses their interconnection and one that discusses new ways of managing their performance.
This special session aims to stimulate a multi-origin discussion about data production and deployment within the Web corpus. It is focused on new models, languages and applications that exploit the Web of data in order to act as a global repository of interlinked resources.
We seek original articles balanced between theoretical and practical approaches in research aspects and/or applications that utilize either Open, Linked and Big Data. We further encourage the submission of contributions that discuss and address exploitation issues of data in different disciplines. Submitted papers may deal with methods, models, case studies, practical experiences and technologies, but also with work in progress solutions. The thematic categories are divided in three parts:
1. Open Data
Definition@wikipedia: “Open data is the idea that certain data should be freely available to everyone to use and republish as they wish, without restrictions from copyright, patents or other mechanisms of control. The goals of the open data movement are similar to those of other "Open" movements such as open source, open content, and open access.”
Topics of interest cover the following areas (but are not limited to):
● Business models, marketplaces and crowdsourcing platforms for Open Data
● Policies, strategies for the development of data ecosystems
● Country/nationwide challenges and opportunities
● Privacy and provenance issues
● Reliability and trustworthiness of Open Data
● Case studies for domain/sector-specific open data strategies (smart cities, environmental and geospatial research, social media)
● Methodologies for open data production, cleansing and utilization
● Heterogeneity, quality assurance, vocabulary repair and maintenance
● Benchmarks and metrics in Open Data usage
● Open Data usability, user interaction and case studies with lessons learned
2. Linked Data
>From the moment they were officially introduced in 2008, Linked Open Data (LOD) and their applications are flourishing. The Open Data movement, along with the maturity of Web 3.0 technologies has led various Organizations to publish their data, making them accessible worldwide. One of the fundamental issues that follows the initial success of these LOD initiatives is a way to standardize the effort according to effective functional and technical specifications.
Topics of interest cover the following areas (but are not limited to):
● Methodologies for Linked Data production and deployment
● Assessing trustworthiness in Linked Data
● Linked Data publication and visualization
● AI technologies for Linked Data
● Engineering Linked Data stems
● Searching and ranking methodologies and algorithms
● Linked Data real world applications and uses (e-Government, health, energy, finance)
● Rule interchange formats
● Reasoning
● Query languages
● Data cleansing techniques
● Social media interactivity
● Adaptive Linked Data systems
● Services development and orchestration
● Provenance and right management
● Dataset description, discovery and consolidation
● Architectural paradigms
● Mobile Linked Data
● Business models
3. Big Data
In this thematic category we aim to investigate how the well-defined concepts of data utilization can be applied in order to develop new techniques and methods for the sustainable and socially balanced exploitation of huge data pools.
Topics of interest cover the following areas (but are not limited to):
● Scalable, distributed and parallel algorithms for solving Big Data
● Harvesting Linked Data from large heterogeneous sources
● Connecting massive unstructured data with well-defined linked formats
● Semantic models and environments to support Big Data
● Data management for mobile and pervasive computing
● Data Management in large social graphs
● Crowdsourcing as a solution to Big Data handling
● Big Data analytics in government and society (public sector, social security, etc.)
● Visualization and presentation of Big Data
