Workshop on Social Business Process Management (SBM 2013)
In conjunction with the 15th IEEE Conference on Business Informatics
(CBI 2013)
July 15th, 2013 Vienna, Austria
http://sbm2013.uni-muenster.de/
2nd Call for Papers
Extended Deadline: March 15th, 2013
Background
==========
Modeling languages and methods that are suitable for designing and
specifying
real-world business processes thoroughly and with a high degree of
quality have
been proposed in a high variety during the past 20 years, with some of them
being more successful than others, and several being the foundation of an
interactive tool for business process modeling (BPM). Experience has shown
that the benefit of a business process model is greatest when it
reflects the
knowledge and creativity of all involved stakeholders, whether they are
internal employees of an enterprise, employees of partner enterprises, or
generally people whose knowledge can directly or indirectly contribute
to the
design of the business process under consideration. Social BPM (SBM)
reflects
this recognition and is based on the perception that business process
management is not the task of an individual or a selected group, but is a
responsibility of the whole enterprise, and all involved business
partners, and
possibly external knowledge carriers. BPM itself thus becomes a
collaborative
process, and its quality depends largely upon the quality of
collaboration, in
terms of work efficiency and quality of results. In addition to the social
components, the communication possibilities within the business
community play
a key role. In a sense, SBM is a consequence and exploitation of the
communication and collaboration possibilities that have been brought
along with
the Web 2.0 developments of the past 10 years.
Topics
======
The primary goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and
practitioners who are interested in SBM as a paradigm, or who can contribute
experience and cases of its applications. It will address the motivational,
organizational, business and technical issues associated with the
adoption of
SBM practices in the enterprise. To this end, the SBM workshop calls for
contributions that address fundamental research, system issues, empirical
evaluation, and industrial experiences in social business process
modeling and
management, including, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Application areas for social BPM
- SBM success stories
- Design approaches for socially-enabled processes
- Infrastructure requirements for SBM
- Leveraging social networking in SBM
- Crowdsourcing business process modeling
- Handling of collaborative design transactions
- Roles and skills required to implement socially-enabled processes
- Management of a design community
- Success and value measurement for socially-enabled processes
- SBM in the Cloud
- Tools for SBM

Participation
=============
Participation in the workshop requires a registration for the 15th IEEE
Conference on Business Informatics (CBI 2013). More information can be
found at
the conference website (http://cbi2013.isis.tuwien.ac.at/).
Presentations will
be held on the first half of July 15th, with the other half of the day being
devoted to a Social BPM Lab. Enrollment for the BPM Lab will be performed as
part of the conference registration.
Social BPM Lab
==============
The basic idea of the Social BPM Lab is that the members of a business
community collaborate in a Web 2.0-based social network, to define business
objectives, strategies and business processes together or even just to
find a
common understanding of the organization. Participants perceive the Lab as a
unique experience in which they accomplish tasks together as a team, take on
responsibility and contribute new ideas. Group dynamic processes empirically
provide for quite some surprising results that will help overcome barriers,
finding compromises and strengthen the sense of community. The Lab acts as a
catalyst for creativity and willingness to compromise and helps to form a
common understanding of processes and organizational structures.

CALL FOR PAPERS
4th International Workshop on "Process Model Collections: Management and
Reuse"
In conjunction with the 11th International Conference on Business
Process Management
(http://bpm2013.tsinghua.edu.cn/)
Beijing, China, August 26, 2013
IMPORTANT DATES
Submission of Papers: 25 May 2013
Notification: 25 June 2013
Final Version Due: 23 July 2013
Workshop: 26 August 2013
BACKGROUND AND GOALS
Nowadays, as organizations reach higher levels of Business Process
Management maturity, they tend to collect and actively use large numbers
of business process models. It is quite common that such collections of
industry-strength business process models include thousands of
activities and related business objects such as data, applications,
risks, etc. These models are used for a variety of business needs,
including requirements analysis, communication, automation and compliance.
Such large collections of process models introduce both new challenges
and opportunities to the area of business process management. On the one
hand, it may not come as a surprise that many organizations struggle to
manage such volumes of complex process models. This problem is
exacerbated by overlapping content across models, poor version
management, process models that are used simultaneously for different
purposes, the use of different modeling notations such as EPCs, BPMN,
etc. On the other hand, the process models in the collection provide a
valuable source of information, which can be reused to facilitate the
development of new process models. This reuse will lead to more
efficient development of models that are of higher quality and better
integrated with the existing models in the collection.
Against this backdrop, the aim of this workshop is to attract novel
research in the area of management and reuse of business process model
collections. Conceptual, technical and application-oriented
contributions are pursued within the scope of this theme:
- Conceptual work relates to the design of approaches for the management
and reuse of process model collections, e.g. frameworks and structures
to govern the use of such collections.
- Technical work concerns (software) solutions to operationalize the
management and reuse of content in process model repositories, e.g.
aspect-oriented or refactoring techniques.
- Application papers can provide case studies with, or empirical
evaluations of, industrial process model collections and reference
process models (e.g. ITIL, SCOR, eTOM).
Topics of the workshop include but are not limited to:
- Process configuration and process families
- Variability management
- Pattern identification in process model collections
- Clone detection in process model collections
- Process similarity search
- Process model merging and consolidation
- Process querying
- Reuse in service composition
- Refactoring techniques for process models
- Governance of process model collections: guidelines and conventions
- Architectures and frameworks for process model collections
- Reusable asset libraries for BPM
- Ontologies in business process collections
- Empirical findings related to process model collections
- Aspect-oriented extensions for process modeling
- Reuse in business process execution, monitoring, and mining
- Model-driven approaches for process model collections
- Process model repository technology
- Industrial process model collections (e.g. ITIL, SCOR, eTOM).
FORMAT
The workshop will consist of presentations of the accepted papers and an
additional keynote speaker. Papers should be submitted in advance and
will be reviewed by at least three members of the program committee. All
accepted papers will be published as pre-proceedings and, potentially in
revised form, in the workshop proceedings published by Springer-Verlag
in the Lecture Notes on Business Information Processing. At least one
author for each accepted paper should register for the workshop and plan
to present the paper.
As part of the workshop, a process model matching contest will be
organized. Researchers are encouraged to submit their process model
matching algorithms, which will then be evaluated on a sample process
model collection provided by the contest organizers. The results of the
contest will be presented at the workshop. Also, a workshop publication,
jointly with all participants, will summarize the essential
characteristics of the submitted algorithms along with the evaluation
results.
SUBMISSION
Prospective authors are invited to submit papers for presentation in any
of the areas listed above. Only papers in English will be accepted, and
the length of a paper should not exceed 12 pages. Papers should be
formatted in LNBIP format. The title page must contain a short abstract,
a classification of the topics covered, preferably using the list of
topics above. Papers should be submitted electronically via the
PMC-MR'13 submission system. Please upload a self-contained PDF file.
Participants in the process matching contest are invited to submit their
matching algorithms to the process matching contest chairs.

Dear Gustaf Neumann,
The International Conference on Knowledge Management and Information Sharing (KMIS 2013 - http://www.kmis.ic3k.org/) has an open call for papers, whose deadline is scheduled for March 12, 2013. We hope you can participate in this conference by submitting a paper reflecting your current research.
KMIS 2013 will be held in Vilamoura, Portugal, September 19 - 22, 2013.
The conference will be sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and held in cooperation with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and ACM SIGMIS - ACM Special Interest Group on Management Information Systems. INSTICC is Member of the Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA), Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) and Object Management Group (OMG).
Knowledge Management (KM) is a discipline concerned with the analysis and technical support of practices used in an organization to identify, create, represent, distribute and enable the adoption and leveraging of good practices embedded in collaborative settings and, in particular, in organizational processes. Effective knowledge management is an increasingly important source of competitive advantage, and a key to the success of contemporary organizations, bolstering the collective expertise of its employees and partners.
Information Sharing (IS) is a term used for a long time in the information technology (IT) lexicon, related to data exchange, communication protocols and technological infrastructures. Although standardization is indeed an essential element for sharing information, IS effectiveness requires going beyond the syntactic nature of IT and delve into the human functions involved in the semantic, pragmatic and social levels of organizational semiotics.
The two areas are intertwined as information sharing is the foundation for knowledge management.
We would like to highlight the presence of the following keynote speakers:
Alan Eardley, Staffordshire University, United Kingdom
David Aveiro, University of Madeira, Portugal
(list not yet complete)
KMIS is interested in promoting high quality research as it can be confirmed by last year acceptance rates, where from 114 submissions, 10% were accepted as full papers. Additionally, 22% were presented as short papers and 15% as posters.
Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support.
A short list of presented papers will be selected so that revised and extended versions of these papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in a CCIS Series book.

The 14th IEEE Intl. Conference on Information Reuse and Integration
(IEEE Sponsorship Pending)
San Francisco, USA
Aug. 14-16, 2013
http://www.sis.pitt.edu/~iri2013
Given the emerging global Information-centric IT landscape that
has tremendous social and economic implications, effectively
processing and integrating humungous volumes of information from
diverse sources to enable effective decision making and knowledge
generation have become one of the most significant challenges of
current times. Information Reuse and Integration (IRI) seeks to
maximize the reuse of information by creating simple, rich, and
reusable knowledge representations and consequently explores
strategies for integrating this knowledge into systems and applications.
IRI plays a pivotal role in the capture, representation, maintenance,
integration, validation, and extrapolation of information; and applies
both information and knowledge for enhancing decision-making in
various application domains. Recent advances in online social networks,
cloud computing and BigData analytics are some examples that further
emphasize a growing need for more effective and efficient IRI techniques.
This conference explores three major tracks: information reuse,
information integration, and reusable systems. Information reuse
explores theory and practice of optimizing representation; information
integration focuses on innovative strategies and algorithms for
applying integration approaches in novel domains; and reusable systems
focus on developing and deploying models and corresponding processes
that enable Information Reuse and Integration to play a pivotal role
in enhancing decision-making processes in various application domains.
The IEEE IRI conference serves as a forum for researchers and
practitioners from academia, industry, and government to present,
discuss, and exchange ideas that address real-world problems with
real-world solutions. Theoretical and applied papers are both included.

Prospective authors are invited to submit papers in any of the topics of the workshop. The results described must be unpublished and must not be under review elsewhere. Only papers in English will be accepted. Manuscripts must comply with the Springer NLBIP formatting rules. Prepare your manuscript as a PDF file and submit it to the workshop organizers via the EasyChair system.
We accept three types of submissions: Regular Research Papers, Experience Papers and Demo/Poster Papers.
Regular Research Papers describe original solutions (theoretical, methodological or conceptual) in the field of secure information systems engineering. A regular research paper should describe the context of the work, the problem tackled, the relevant state of the art, the position or solution suggested and the benefits of the contribution. The length of regular research papers should not exceed 12 pages (including all text, figures, references and appendices.). Three to five keywords characterising the paper should be indicated at the end of the abstract.
Experience papers present application of work to case studies and industrial practice. Such papers should provide a detail description of the application setting, describe lessons learned, and discuss best practice. Experience papers should not exceed 12 pages (including all text, figures, references and appendices.). Three to five keywords characterising the paper should be indicated at the end of the abstract.
Demo/Poster papers should briefly discuss academic and/or industrial efforts on software tools and systems for secure information systems engineering. Demo/Poster papers should not exceed 1 page and they should provide a brief description of the research and software/system to be demonstrated. Poster papers are also ideal to explain a new idea and get feedback from the community. It is expected that accepted papers will be presented in the form of a live demonstration or a poster.
Submissions not conforming to the LNCS format and the above page limitations or being obviously out of the scope of the workshop will be rejected without review.
Registration
For each accepted submission, at least one author is expected to register for the workshop and attend the workshop in order to present the paper. Registration is through the CAiSE'13 web site.
Workshop Structure
The workshop will combine paper presentations, poster/demonstration session, and a keynote.
Moreover, accepted papers apart from presentation time, will be assigned with one or two discussants with responsibility to initiate the discussion on the paper. We are confident that such structure will support a workshop environment that will be based on discussion, debate and will therefore provide an important contribution to the relevant research community.
